Sound card affected by network connection

So basically my issue resides with the 12.5 yoga thinkpad. Whenever I play music with an internet connection, whether it be through youtube or windows media player or spotify, after a few songs or whenever windows media player needs to sync with the cloud(use the internet) I get a stutter sound, best described like a faulty cd that will scratch and pause momentarily and milliseconds later resume, it also makes a second of the sound go down in pitch if you are following my description. Not sure why this is happening, I am thinking of performing a system restore but want some other peoples opinion before I go ahead. Cheers

  • Stream audio from sound card input thru network

    Good Day:
I have an application where I need to access instruments at a remote location.  Command/Control of the instruments is not a problem, but I also need to stream the audio present at the remote system's sound card thru the network connection.  Any suggestions on how to accomplish this via LabWindows?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
    -Ed

    Hi Ed,
First, I was wondering, how do you get the audio from the sound card?  Is it from a LabWindows program? I've never done that.  Second, I was wondering how do you play the audio on the remote machine?  Is that through a LabWindows program?  I've never done that either.
But I was wondering if just a remote PC app would do the job.  Like admins use to take over your PC from there desk and fix problems.  I assume they have these that send the audio thru the net as well as the screen.  Then on the radio's PC you just need a LabWindows program to control the radio and some other app to play sound from the sound card input to the local speaker.  Then the remote PC app would magically transfer the screen and audio from the radio PC to the remote PC.
Otherwise, I can just say that to stream the audio thru the net, after the Radio's PC gets it off the sound card somehow, I would just set up two TCP servers on the remote PC, one for audio and one for the commands/control.  When the remote PC client connects to the audio server the audio server would just start sending audio data to the client.  The client would receive the data and put it in a big buffer to handle network speed variation.  Let the buffer fill up to like a second or more worth of data before having anothe function/thread read the buffer data and give the data to the client PC's sound card.  Big problem is that the client PC's sound card will alway's consume the data at a slightly different speed than the servers sound card produces it.  Different clocks running at slightly different frequencies.  So the client function that reads the audio buffer to give it to the sound card must play games.  If the buffer is shrinking over time then it has to create extra samples to give to the sound card, just duplicating a sample every 100 samples or whatever. If the buffer is growing over time then it throws away a sample every 100 sample or whatever.  So it's kind of a challenge to manage the buffer with the variable speed of the net transfering data and the two different rates of producing and consuming the audio data.
LabWindows has the TCP server create and client create functions so that's pretty easy.  The harder part is that you probibly want to set the Radio's PC to a fixed IP address so that you can connect to it without worrying about domain names and such.  Then the two TCP ports that the LabWindows uses for command and audio might need to be setup in all the routers to let you establish a connection.  Your IT guy's can answer that.
PS. you can play around with this suff on one PC by using the RegisterTCPServerEx function and setting the local host address to "localhost", or "127.0.0.1" on one LabWindows project and using the corresponding ConnectToTCpServerEx with "NULL" as the server host name on another LabWindows project.  This creates a virtual TCP connection on the same machine.  This does not duplicate the different audio clock issue I talked about above.

  • Why does Airport card lose AX network connection intermittently??

I'll be working, and then abruptly the Airport card in my iMac G4 loses the AX connection to the Apple network, and can't find any network. My iBook picks it up fine. Then, maybe within a half hour or so, it suddenly finds the AX Apple network again. All the while my iBook is fine. The only difference between these computers is that the iBook has an Airport Extreme card, and the iMac has an Airport card. And, I'm also in the same room as the AX station. iStumbler appears to show a loss of signal when this occurs, but that doesn't explain the iBook working fine.
I looked in the AP mgmt utility, and saw this:
"Deauthenticated with station (iMac mac address) (inactivity)."
    And then:
"Deauthenticated with station (iMac mac address) (received invalid class-3 frame)."
    What is the problem here??

    iBook G4 / iMac G4 / iPod 20GB   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I'm looking into that possibility.......have a cordless phone in the office, a PC, cell phones, etc. Will clear them out and recheck. The maddening thing is that the iBook is totally bulletproof even in that environment. Why would the iMac be having these issues, but not the iBook? Is Airport Extreme more robust, or that much better than Airport?
Even now, the iMac shows no network - yet I'm writing this on the iBook right next to it, and it's had no network interruption whatsoever.
Do you have any knowledge of those "error" notations from the syslog? Could they be pointing to anything else?
    Thanks much.....

  • Does using more than one apple tv affect network connection

    My AppleTV has upgraded.
Since then the network connection has been very fragile
I have restarted the apple tv, the tv, and all the devices.
I have also restarted the modem.
    Nothing is working.
I have two apple tvs; so i am now wondering whether having both of them working might affect the network connection.
Or is there any other reason for such a fragile connection?  and what can be done to get a more stable connection?

Yes. I've been doing this. We have a family HP laptop with 750 GB of storage that is our library. One TV in the Den and one in the Family Room. Both have AppleTV's. I've had no problem simultaneously streaming to each AppleTV from the library computer. They both are synced to that PC as well ... mainly for photos. I originally was using my existing wireless-g network and this worked well. I recently put in a couple of Airport extreme units and they work great in wireless-n but I'm not sure it was really necessary ... I just wanted the AppleTVs to be able to stream and sync at their max possible speeds to minimize the possibility of slowing down of our network. The Airport Extreme's may have been overkill but they work really well ... easy to setup and we've now got a very strong wireless signal all over the house. Are you considering multiple AppleTV's?
A nice benefit of multiple AppleTVS is that you always have a backup remote control in case the kids (or maybe I)get absent minded.

  • Network connection continues to drop

So I continue to have the same network issue. If any amount of large data is being pushed through, the connection drops. You still have a valid IP address but cant do anything. Network icon shows yellow exclamation mark. Release/Renew locks the machine up.
Unable to disable network card as it wont let you. Unplug and reconnecting ethernet does nothing. The only way to get the connection back is to restart the PC.
If you have any networking applications set to startup IE Dropbox, Google Drive, Onedrive, Steam, Utorrent etc the connection drops off within about 1 to 2 minutes. If you disable all of these from start up and let the PC fully load before using the browser
    the connection works fine.
Please do not respond to this thread with a "Its a hardware issue", it is not. I can log into my windows 7 partition and run everything on the same hardware with zero issues. Drivers are up to date on the system.  It wouldn't be so maddening
if I didn't have to restart the PC every time it happens. I realize this is a beta and these type issues are expected. Just want to make sure MS is aware of them. I am running a Dell Studio XPS 8100. 64 bit with 6 gb memory. 3.2 GHZ processor.
Someone else out there has to be running into this as well.

    Hi cnmsales,
    Thank you for the feedback.
There really are some network issues stated in Windows 10 build 10049:
No access to Internet Protocol (v4 or v6) in 10049
I am not sure if this would affect your network connection, just post here for reference.
You may consider submit your issue through Windows Feedback.
    Best regards

  • Connecting two AR5000 receivers on same sound card and stream over net

    Hi guys,
I am able to connect one AR 5000 receiver to a sound card , remote control it over the network, stream audio and play from it.
Now I want to connect two receivers on a single sound card and do the rest as mentioned above
    Help!!

Thanks Linc Davis. I thought I'd have to pay for the consultation at the Genius Bar, but you're quite right, it is free and you can decide not to go ahead if the quote they give is too much. Just thought I'd write what happened in case anyone else has the same problem. The cause was basically a small cable that needed to be repaired, which cost about 76 euros. I took it to an Apple Store in Paris and they fixed it within 24 hours, even though they estimated 3-5 days. He said another reason this problem might be occurring is because the Logic Board needs to be replaced which would have cost around 360 euros (probably not worth the money for a 3.5 year old laptop), but thankfully it was just the cable.

  • How to connect my iphone 4s to a USB sound card for 5.1 speakers?

How to connect my iphone 4s to a USB sound card for 5.1 speakers?

    You can't:
    1. iPhone sound output is stereo, not Dolby 5.1 compatible.
    2. iPhones do not connect sound output by standard USB.  The connecting device has to be iPhone compatible.

I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

  • Can I connect a USB 2 sound card to a Macbook equipped only with USB 3 ports?

    Hello,
I just learned I might have to purchase a new Macbook because my USB ports are fried and I was looking at purchasing a refurbished Macbook pro from 2012:
    http://store.apple.com/ca/product/FD101LL/A/refurbished-133-inch-macBook-pro-25g hz-dual-core-intel-i5
the only trouble is I make music with a MOTU Audio Express sound card, and it only has a USB 2 port and a bus-powered Firewire (which I don't like using since it hasn't been too reliable in the past).
    http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/audio-express/summary.html
Unfortunately, it seems that the Macbook I'm looking into purchasing only has USB 3 ports, and I looked for info on USB 3->USB 2 adapters online and this simply doesn't seem to exist. The only info I managed to find on this subject was this little bit on the Apple website:
Can a USB 2 cable be used to connect a USB 3 device to my computer?
If the device end of the cable fits into the connector on the device, yes. However, because it has fewer wires, you won't get USB 3 speed and power may be limited to 500 mA.
does this mean that I can connect a USB 2 cable from the USB 2 port of the MOTU sound card to the USB 3 port on the Macbook? I'm OK with the power and the speed being limited to USB 2 power, I just want to make sure I can actually use my sound card with this new Macbook.
    Thanks!

I think I'm understanding this a bit more now.
Here is the cable that I use:
    http://www.amazon.ca/USB-Cable-Type-Male-Black/dp/B00183I7EE
The Type A part is the one that I'm currently putting into the Macbook and the Type B part goes in the sound card.
Would this work with a USB 3.0 port on the Macbook?
Thanks for your time and patience...

  • Humming noise when I connect my sound card to my band mixer H

    Hello,
This is driving me nuts. What I'm trying to do is connect my pc through my Audigy 2 pci card to my band mixer so I can play tracks through my main system. I know the cords aren't the problem because they are high quality and they work fine in other applications. What could be some of the causes and/or solutions for this buzzing/humming sound that emanates.
The connection starts at my external sound card with an /8" stereo phono plug that splits to two RCA's. These then connect to the back of my mixer into one of the "Line In" ports. Then the mixer signal is sent to a crossover and then to two amps for highs and lows and out to the speakers. I can hear the music but there is a steady HUM. It doesn't do it with my laptop with a cheap internal sound output but as soon as I plug into the Audigy 2 the hum is there. I already tried all volume controls in sound blaster and that did nothing to the level of hum. I was hoping someone could give me a checklist of things to examine so I don't waste hours trying everything. Thanks so much. Frank

You don't mention if you want to connect the card into TV through analog or digital path. I suppose you mean digital.
Flexijacks Digital Out supports stereo SPDIF (coaxial) out and pass through of multichannel DVD sound. You'll need at least a mono minijack to RCA (female or male) adapter/cable :
    <img alt="" src="http://www.audiogear.com/Resources/AdptMnitoRcaF.jpg" width="76" height="58">
or an adapter or cable which converts the stereo minijack into two (female or male) RCA connectors:
    <img alt="" src="http://www.audiogear.com/Resources/adpt-2RcfMsmS.jpg" width="42" height="20">?
OR an adapter cable (RCA end by the RCA cable you have there (male/female)):

For digital connection, connect the cable through FlexiJack ... when you use stereo cable/adapter then the black/white cable carries the digital signal in the other end.
For analog connection, the best analog output from X-Fi card? can be taken through Line Out (see the X-Fi manual for connection diagrams).
For Optical Digital OUT from FlexiJack an additional compnent is needed

  • Error message "network connection reset" only affects one user

I'm running 10.3.9 on a 400Mhz iMac. I have 3 users, myself and my 2 kids. When I try to access a web page using Safari on one of the kid's user accounts I get an error message saying that the server cannot be contacted because the "network connection has been reset", and says to try again later but never works. The odd part is that the other two user accounts can access web pages with no problem.
I have checked my network settings, all user settings/limitations, restarted the computer and modem, tossed all cache and bookmarks for the affected user and placed the com.safari.plist from the user/library/safari folder on the desktop. Still get the same error message.
I would create a new user name but had a hassle with file permissions when I put the old user files in the new user folder.

I see you have Windows Firewall turned on. Do you happen to have any other firewalls or anti-virus in conjunction with this? Sometimes having both turned on will cause issue. Try disabling all of your anti-virus and firewall software and trying again.

  • I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?

I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?
The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks
    Wayne

    kmiddlet88,
yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

  • Advice on sound card purchase - requires connection to amp

    : Hi there,
I would like to connect a sound card upto my amplifier using RCA to RCA connections and not the easy route people would take using theY connector.
What is the best sound card to use to achieve this?

I know that the SB X-Fi Surround 5. bundles a Y connector as it has stereo RCA jacks. See if it suits you for [email protected].
