Sound Card/Beats Audio Fail

This is my 4th HP Beats Audio Laptop. All the other ones work fine except for this one. I dont know if its the sound card or beats audio. But the sound is terrible. I use this laptop mainly for music production and have a DAW (Sony Acid). I dont know which is the problem. When i mute a single channel, the sound fluctates. I called HP, reinstalled drivers, etc... Dont know what else i can do. Just purchased a USB sound card, but not happy that i have to buy one on a brand new $1000.00+ laptop.

No sound - no beats audio. dv7 notebook PC-SER #2CE2012FSD, IDT High DEF Audio CODEC, Windows 7 64 bit, Product # A6X08UA#ABA. Need ASAP for school. Please help.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your IDT Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Sound Card making Windows Fail to loa

Hiya, had a problem with Windows XP Pro freezing at the load screen, pulled my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value, and booted up. Everything works fine again. I built the PC myself, P5ND2-SLI mobo that uses NForce 4 chipset, Nvidia 7600 GT vid card, Intel Pentium D 830 3.0 ghz 775 socket CPU, 000 GB Corsair memory. The mobo has Realtek onboard sound which is disabled in bios already. Any clue what the problem may be?Message Edited by Coriff on 09-9-2006 09:26 PM

Having exactly the same problem. Using Win XP Pro, card is Audigy Platinum EX. Since I attempted to re-install the Audigy, can't load Windows. Gets to the load screen and then loops back to the start of the boot sequence. I am now without audio on my system and can't find a fix. Next move is new card, different company.

  • HP Spectre XT Issue (Microphone & Beats audio)

    Hello,
I have purchased a laptop from Computer Care Dubai and Laptop’s Microphone is giving some issues and all we listen is air noise like microphone connection inside the laptop is loose or not plugged in. Even unable to record sound with Windows 8 default recorder and Skype is showing the same behavior. Tried all the suggested drivers from HP Site but still no success.
It also has beats audio but i cant find any major difference between normal sound and beats audio sound
After purchasing the laptop, i moved to Pakistan for next months and is with HP International Warranty which is not claimable from Pakistan as most of the authorized HP Distributors send it to Dubai or Singapore for warranty claims.
Laptop Model: HP Spectre XT 2311ee
How can i resolve this issue, do I need to send it to Dubai for Warranty Claim, if yes than at which address

Yes, I use Beats Audio option from Control Panel but still there is not much difference.
    Please be more specific.
Check your device manager. The following image is from the Spectre 13 TouchSmart Ultrabook HP loan product currently in my posession.
Try a system restore to a date before the issue began. If that fails then you may have to consider running a factory image recovery. If you contact HP support, that is quite likely to be a step that they ask you to perform.

Skype can't access my sound card. It fails every time and says "problem with recording device."
I've tried running it as an administrator, uninstalling and reinstalling, I'm pretty sure I've turned off any realtek sound effects or enhancements. I've made sure that applications can take exclusive control, but nothing has helped so far. DirectX diagnostics attached below

  • 6712 New Sound Card Freezes PC

I have a KT4AV-L MS-6712 that has worked great for several years. I'm running XP SP3 with 1.5GB memory and an XP2500. All software is updated/current.
One channel of the on-board sound device has become very weak and distorted so I installed a new C-Media 8738 sound card. After installing the driver for the sound card, playing audio from WinMP, RealPlayer, YouTube, whatever - gives me a couple of seconds of audio then freezes the computer. Mouse and all are locked up.
I made sure to disable the old sound device in BIOS after removing the AC97 driver and setting the new sound card as the default device.
The driver for the new sound card is current. Nothing unusual appears in the Event Log at the time of the freeze.
What am I missing? Your ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

  • Beats Audio on ProBook 4730s?

Is it possible to install Beats Audio on my ProBook 4730s?
I currently have SRS Premium Sound, but would like to try Beats.
Also, could anybody please explain to me the difference between SRS Premium Sound and Beats Audio? The  screenshots I've seen of the Beats Audio app look incredibly similar to the SRS Premium Sound app.

    Hi,
To be able to use Beats Audio you need hardware too. You can buy Beast speakers or headphones and plug to your machine to get "Beats". More info from the following link:

I'm not at all familiar with pulseaudio configuration. Does anyone know of a good way for me to resolve this issue? Have I even identified the correct issue?
    UPDATE:
I was able to work around my problem for the moment by symlinking the configuration file to the location that pulseaudio was actually looking for it
    # mkdir -p /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA\ Intel
    # ln -s /usr/share/alsa/cards/HDA-Intel.conf /usr/share/alsa/ucm/HDA\ Intel/HDA\ Intel.conf
Although this does get my sound back, it is a hacky work-around and obviously not ideal. Anyone who knows a bit about pulse configuration, I welcome your input here

Thank you so much for posting your solution!
I was having the same problem. The funny part was it started happening (and not always) after KDE says that the Intel HDA device is "gone" and asking me to remove it from my configuration. Even by saying no it wouldn't work. Killing pulseaudio with
    pulseaudio -k
would have everything fallback to Alsa but starting pulseaudio again wouldn't work.
Rebooting right away doesn't take care of the issue either but after a while the problem would go away...
    Any inputs would be appreaciated!

  • Sound card fails when modem taken out- no longer wo

My OS is Windows 98 First Edition.
I recently replaced an internal, PCI slot LT Winmodem and put in a USR internal, ISA slot modem. I didn't follow exact instructions for this sort of change but the Creative website says that one of their sound cards can fail to work when some piece of hardware is changed. I took out my sound card and see that it only says "Ensoniq" on it and doesn't have any of the usual Creative ID markings on it. [My software to identify hardware says it's a "Creative Sound Blaster Audio PCI 64V" sound card. Another hardware-identifying app I have calls it "Creative SB PCI 28 (Ensoniq ES37) sound card".]
When I want to listen to a webcast or play any WAV or MID file, I get:
"MPlayer2 (Windows Media Player, v. 6.4.07.24) has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. MPLayer2 caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll at
05f:bff9dba7." [Same message when I use Real Player.]
At this same time, the following message appears: "Windows Media Player error: Can't play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding. Error=80040256."
I got this Creative sound card back in June 999 when I got the computer that contains it. It's worked fine up 'til the recent modem change.
In an attempt to fix this problem, I removed all entries and driver files for it, deleted a bunch of files that Creative says should be deleted for such a problem. I turned off the computer and took out the sound card and put it into another PCI slot. Then when I turned the computer back on, Windows says it found new hardware and wanted to install software for it. But I used the hardware drivers CD I got with the computer and installed the Creative files for my sound card. But this didn't help: I still cannot play any sounds.
The sound card fits firmly and squarely into the PCI slot.
What is the correct order of steps to take in order to end this problem and restore to the sound card the ability to produce sounds? I'm still annoyed by the error message due to the sound card apparently causing some problem - by use of Windows Media Player or RealPlayer - with Kernel32.dll?
Would getting the latest driver files from Creative's website fix this or does it sound like something else is wrong?
[My OS is Windows 98 First Edition.]
    Thanks

I doubt newer drivers would help this.
I'd suggest checking your IRQ settings a conflict (sharing), particularly between the new modem and the soundcard. You can determine the resources using device manager, but using the System Information tool isn't quite as tedious.
Do you have another PCI slot to try?
    -Dave
    [email protected]
I'm not at home now (so I can't give here in this forum the best of info right now) but I have looked at IRQ settings several times when at home. I know I've seen the Sound Blaster/Ensoniq sound card holding the same IRQ as my USB port. [Both are on IRQ 0 along with some "computer steering" entry which I've read is OK to be with any hardware item's IRQ.] [I've never used my USB port. Perhaps I can just disable it and thereby free up the IRQ just for the sound card. Does this sound reasonable to do?]
I'll report back here later on what I was able to do with the IRQs and if any change there helped. [Should I take out the card and put it into some other PCI slot? I have 4 PCI slots, one being occupied by the sound card.]
    Thanks for your help

So, what might be causing the probe error -5?
I really need to get this card working! :S
I have Arch up to date!
    Hardware specs:
    CPU: AMD FX6100
Board: Gigabyte (can't recall the model) with NVidia chipset
    Thank you,

I have an m-audio delta 1010lt as well, it's a great card but it sits in my closet now because I "upgraded" to a motherboard that doesn't have legacy PCI slots. However, I'm pretty sure I remember the card working for me and being "plug and play" under arch with kernel 3.3 or newer. So some things I would consider:
Try checking IRQs, make sure nothing is overlapping.
Try using the LTS kernel, to see if it is kernel related, since ice1712 module should ship with almost any kernel => 2.6.26.
How many watts is the power supply? Sometimes insufficient wattage can result in drivers failing to load.
What other sound cards do you have installed? Have you tried blacklisting all of the other cards in your system using alsa-base.conf? This is a bit extreme, but might be a useful troubleshooting measure, as some people have had issues in the past with alsa indexing mutiple cards to the same slot number

  • USB Sound Card usb_set_interface failed

    Hi all,
My sound seems to work for a while (pure ALSA at the moment, though I've had the same error using pulse too), then an event (mostly pause) seems to cause sound to stop working without a reboot. Here's the relevant information:

From then on the device is not listed under aplay-l until the PC is restarted.
This has been driving me nuts for a while now, and I can't find a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Google is your friend. I cant recommend one directly because i dont have one, but using this search term "USB Sound Card mac" a whole host of stuff comes up. YMMV: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&rls=en-us&q=USBSound+Cardmac&btnG=Search
I would however suggest investing a reasonable sum of cash in an external sound-card in order to make sure it is an "upgrade"

  • Pci sound card and beats together?

I have an HPE h8-01280t with built in beats audio.  I'd like to install a Creative Labs pci audio card so that beats will play through my computer speakers while I can output simultaneous pci audio to another device (beats in analog, pci in digital output).  Can I do this?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I doubt if that can be done. Cause once you install a pci sound card, the integrated sound gets disabled.
You cannot get output from both.
