Sound Card Connections to Recei

Need advice on using analog connection from soundcard to 6. channel input on receiver vs digital audio cable connection. I am running this 50 feet so that may be a consideration when running mini analog wires that far. Any help greatly appreciated!

The only way you can run that lenght is with antenna coaxial cable of 75 ohm impedance (with RCA connectors) or glass fiber optic terminated by some data cable technician - the ordinary "optical audio cable" is made from clear plastic and doesn't go very far.
By the way, via digital, you will have only stereo PCM in games and any other sounds - with the exception of DVD's recorded with DolbyDigital or DTS.

I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?
The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks

    kmiddlet88,
yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

  • Inspire T6100 - Sound Card Connectivity

    Hi Guys,
I just got a set of T6100 speakers, but I'm unsure of how to connect them to my PC. I currently have a very old Soundblaster Live! card, which only has Spdif, mic in, line out and rear out. However, the speakers have the orange/green/black cables and I don't know which goes into where. Could anyone please advise me on how to connect the speakers to my soundcard?
Also, I'm currently looking around for a new soundcard, but don't want to spend a fortune on it. Could anyone recommend a compatible soundcard (preferably the X-Fi series)?

    amzngbac,
In order to fully optimize the 7.1 speaker you have, you will need to get a sound card that support 7.1 speaker system. The Audigy 2 ZS series range support this.

  • Regardin a Tv card to sound card connect

    Hi all
I have an MSI SLI Platinum motherboard using the onboard SB Li've 24 bit. I have creatives p5800 5. speakers attached. but these speakers use the line out i think which is what a tv card needs to connect to also.
am i right or am i wrong also if i am right in my asumption is there a way round this?
    many thanks in advance

I think he means the plug is shared... If that is the case you cannot connect it like that. But there is an alternati've. You have to make a custom cable, from the stereo out of your soundcard to an internal connector, like CD_IN or TAD_IN. For that, I would go and buy a female stereo plug and an internal cd_audio connector. Remove the one end of the internal cable, and connect the wires to the female stereo plug. That's it! (Oh.. and remove a card-slot cover form your case, so you can run the cable for the outside to the inside.)

  • IMac sound card/back-up drive issues???

I've just taken delivery of my new 27" iMac....what a sweet piece of design!!!
I've had to order a 6-pin to 9-pin adaptor for my sound card (Saffire LE) and I've just noticed there is only one 9-pin port in the iMac. Does this mean I won't be able to have my back up drive and my sound card connected at the same time???? That would really suck not having my Mybook set up to automatically backup.
Previously I was running Logic through a macbook pro which allowed me to use the 6 pin port for my sound card and 9 pin port for my back up drive (WD Mybook).
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Will the devices and the iMac do the rest in terms of recognising what is plugged into what and running everything correctly?
Sure. That's kind of the whole point of a daisychain-able, hotswappable format, which firewire was designed to be from the outset. But as I said, your mileage may vary as not all devices play as nice as others. You just have to test it and figure out which order plugging them in works best for you. Also be careful with sleep settings on your computer because sometimes when waking up from sleep, audio interfaces on firewire don't like to wake up, or they get annoyed if there's something else on the buss.. And then also be mindful of the performance you get. Some users experience audio dropouts and crackling when the audio interface + whatever else are connected in a certain order, which is fine after swapping things round. You might want to ask another question here stating exactly the gear you use in the subject line, because there are sure to be other users that specifically have the same interface, imac and ext drive as you, so you'll be able to benefit from their experience on how to get it working trouble free.

  • Does the iMac support a USB-5.1 sound card?

I have a new Intel iMac connected though USB to a "Sound Blaster Live 24 bit" sound card connected via mini-jacks to a logitech 5400, but I am not getting 5.1.
In the Audio MIDI pref pane, I can only select "multichannel," not "5.1".
Is there any way to fix this? If not, I need an optical to mini jack... any idea if there is such a thing?
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
I don't know about the SBlive 24bit device.
However, the Intel iMac's all have built in 5.1 optical output from the normal headphone jack (it is optical and electrical). There exist TOSLink to 3.5mm optical cables, and some can even be converted to either.
There are also some optical to coax SPDIF converters available if your speakers only take SPDIF coax and not SPDIF optical.

How to connect my iphone 4s to a USB sound card for 5.1 speakers?

    You can't:
    1. iPhone sound output is stereo, not Dolby 5.1 compatible.
    2. iPhones do not connect sound output by standard USB.  The connecting device has to be iPhone compatible.

I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

  • Can I connect a USB 2 sound card to a Macbook equipped only with USB 3 ports?

    Hello,
I just learned I might have to purchase a new Macbook because my USB ports are fried and I was looking at purchasing a refurbished Macbook pro from 2012:
    http://store.apple.com/ca/product/FD101LL/A/refurbished-133-inch-macBook-pro-25g hz-dual-core-intel-i5
the only trouble is I make music with a MOTU Audio Express sound card, and it only has a USB 2 port and a bus-powered Firewire (which I don't like using since it hasn't been too reliable in the past).
    http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/audio-express/summary.html
Unfortunately, it seems that the Macbook I'm looking into purchasing only has USB 3 ports, and I looked for info on USB 3->USB 2 adapters online and this simply doesn't seem to exist. The only info I managed to find on this subject was this little bit on the Apple website:
Can a USB 2 cable be used to connect a USB 3 device to my computer?
If the device end of the cable fits into the connector on the device, yes. However, because it has fewer wires, you won't get USB 3 speed and power may be limited to 500 mA.
does this mean that I can connect a USB 2 cable from the USB 2 port of the MOTU sound card to the USB 3 port on the Macbook? I'm OK with the power and the speed being limited to USB 2 power, I just want to make sure I can actually use my sound card with this new Macbook.
    Thanks!

I think I'm understanding this a bit more now.
Here is the cable that I use:
    http://www.amazon.ca/USB-Cable-Type-Male-Black/dp/B00183I7EE
The Type A part is the one that I'm currently putting into the Macbook and the Type B part goes in the sound card.
Would this work with a USB 3.0 port on the Macbook?
Thanks for your time and patience...

  • Humming noise when I connect my sound card to my band mixer H

    Hello,
This is driving me nuts. What I'm trying to do is connect my pc through my Audigy 2 pci card to my band mixer so I can play tracks through my main system. I know the cords aren't the problem because they are high quality and they work fine in other applications. What could be some of the causes and/or solutions for this buzzing/humming sound that emanates.
The connection starts at my external sound card with an /8" stereo phono plug that splits to two RCA's. These then connect to the back of my mixer into one of the "Line In" ports. Then the mixer signal is sent to a crossover and then to two amps for highs and lows and out to the speakers. I can hear the music but there is a steady HUM. It doesn't do it with my laptop with a cheap internal sound output but as soon as I plug into the Audigy 2 the hum is there. I already tried all volume controls in sound blaster and that did nothing to the level of hum. I was hoping someone could give me a checklist of things to examine so I don't waste hours trying everything. Thanks so much. Frank

You don't mention if you want to connect the card into TV through analog or digital path. I suppose you mean digital.
Flexijacks Digital Out supports stereo SPDIF (coaxial) out and pass through of multichannel DVD sound. You'll need at least a mono minijack to RCA (female or male) adapter/cable :
    <img alt="" src="http://www.audiogear.com/Resources/AdptMnitoRcaF.jpg" width="76" height="58">
or an adapter or cable which converts the stereo minijack into two (female or male) RCA connectors:
    <img alt="" src="http://www.audiogear.com/Resources/adpt-2RcfMsmS.jpg" width="42" height="20">?
OR an adapter cable (RCA end by the RCA cable you have there (male/female)):
    <img alt="" src="http://www.audiogear.com/Resources/Adpt2RcfMsm.jpg" width="95" height="6">?
For digital connection, connect the cable through FlexiJack ... when you use stereo cable/adapter then the black/white cable carries the digital signal in the other end.
For analog connection, the best analog output from X-Fi card? can be taken through Line Out (see the X-Fi manual for connection diagrams).
For Optical Digital OUT from FlexiJack an additional compnent is needed

  • Connecting an Inspire 6.1 6600 system directly to a PC WITHOUT a sound card

I have a Dell PC with no sound card. I also have an Inspire 6.1 system. I want to connect the speaker system directly to the PC. I searched high and low on the CL site to no avail.

Before you do that, please check if the main board supports 6.1 speakers. It would also be advisable to get in touch with the computer vendor for assistance because they have information about your system.

  • Wireless audio connection to external sound card

    Hi to all!
I'm using a usb audio interface (Fast track pro) to my Dell Vostro computer. I use this interface to get better sound quality producing music and to use studio speakers, connect eventually some synth, record samples...nothing too much serious. End of introduction, go to my problem.
I'm trying to connect the sound card to my computer without cables using the HP wireless audio. I would like to know what output rate has de S/PDIF connection. Also, as I understand, if I connect the HP wireless audio using this connection, the device is not doing any Digital to Analog transformation, right? I want a pure digital input in my sound card! I must say I have tried the connection (Computer - USB transmiter -> HP wireless audio s/PDIF out - Soun card s/PDIF input)and it didn't work. I need to sync both devices. Can you help me doing that? I know maybe it's not a typical connection, if you think a better way to do it (or think is madness) just let me know!
Many thanks! Also must say I'm not an expert user, so excuse me if I say something wrong.

    Hi again,
I just found a link on M-Audio's website (forum) that says the Fast Track Pro does not support sleep mode, and that I should set my computer to never go to sleep. *****, a little, but I guess it's not a huge deal. And, ultimately, what matters is the sound quality that I get. And, that is quite good!
In the meantime, your point about an external power supply (besides the USB power) is interesting, and a really good point. I wonder if I powered the interface with the optional external power supply, would that alleviate the problem (since the power to the M-Audio box would be continuous). I may, one day, order the optional power supply and check it out. In the meantime, I will simply set my computer to never go to sleep.
I do have a question in this regard, though: Is "going to sleep" the same issue as "screensaver". I ask this because I've figured out how to set the screensaver to "never", but I don't see anything about "sleep" mode. Is this the same thing? If not, how do I access the "sleep mode" settings?
    Thanks again!
    Vic

  • Connecting X-box360 (original) to Creative speakers through computer sound card, he

Hi everyone,I have a homebuilt PC with a soundblaster X-fi Fatality sound card with the front panel with all the optical and SPDIF inputs, etc. My creative speakers are plugged into the rear jacks directly into the sound card, and work fine on all windows applications and games. I wish to use my xbox 360 on my computer monitor with my computer speakers, however. The monitor part works fine as I just switch the input mode. However, I do not get any sound. I currently have the HD AV cable with component jacks connecting to my monitor, and an optical cable plugged into the back of the 360 on the AV cable thing and into the "optical in" jack on the front of my computer (into the front panel thing that comes with the sound card). However, I do not get any sound still. The RCA jacks are not plugged into anything (I assume that is how they should be). I tried following the tutorial on creative's website (http://93.95.7.84/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCG...rob_not_listed) but when I got to the step about going into audio console and clicking the decoder tab I could not continue. I have no decoder tab, the tabs listed are SPDIF i/o, Bit-matched, headphone detection, restore defaults, mode, speakers, EAX effects, X-fi CMSS-3D, and X-fi Crystalizer. So I am at a loss for what to do. I do have my xbox set to digital 5. in the audio settings as well, and the front panel has worked before with headphones so I know it must be connected properly. Thanks,Matt
