Sound Card for Macbook (Black) 2.4 Ghz?

Sorry for my weak IT knowledge but can anyone please help me determine my sound card make/model? Is it the Realtek audio or is that just the driver/codec? Any info would be much appreciated. I have the lastest/most current Black Macbook with the 250GB HD & 2GB Memory. I am trying to determine a minor issue with using a PC-Only compatible recording software on the Windows XP partition. A better question may be, how can I or do I need to update the sound driver when using the Windows XP OS via Bootcamp? I have already installed the Leopard driver discs successfully (including the sound driver) on the XP OS partition. The sound works/functions correctly on the XP partition. Just wondering if there is a hardware issue between my PC software and the sound card? Please advise.
thanks!
Joey

  • Sound card for 7160n

    Hi,
I am looking for a cost-effective sound card for my computer. I have built in sound (no card). The main use of this computer is for recording songs and going to karaoke web sites. Here is my info:
    My model number is:   PX721AA-ABA
    My model name is:       7160n
    Intel Pentium D 820 2.8 Ghz
I have just ordered 3GB of RAM.
    Thank you & Happy Holidays.

That PC is a dinosour, you should have bought a new PC instead.
Buying 3GB of RAM and a sound card could have bought you 1/3 of a new Win 7 system.

  • Sound card for logic

hey guys, I want to get a sound card for my macbook pro.. preferably as cheap as possible because the only thing I want to hook up is my alesis 3630 compressor (what cables will I need?)..
Im new to hardware, so any information is appreciated!
    Cheers,
    James

    k,
sorry i meant audio card**.. I have a macbook pro 15inch, purchased new 3 months ago.. I want a sound card that is mac compatible.. I'm currently thinking about the Focusrite Saffire LE Firewire Audio Interface.. however its $500 AUD.. I'm only using the sound card to hook up monitors and my alesis compressor, so the Focusrite doesn't seem to be the smartest option..
so my question is, what sound card would you recommend for my mac, preferably Firewire but USB should be fine! and once I have that, is it easy for the mac to recognise the hardware compressor in logic?
    Cheers guys,
    James

  • How to connect my iphone 4s to a USB sound card for 5.1 speakers?

How to connect my iphone 4s to a USB sound card for 5.1 speakers?

    You can't:
    1. iPhone sound output is stereo, not Dolby 5.1 compatible.
    2. iPhones do not connect sound output by standard USB.  The connecting device has to be iPhone compatible.

  • Can windows xp use a different sound card for itunes - I want to use a sound card for itunes and another for all other apps

Can Windows XP use a different sound card for itunes - I want to use a sound card for itunes and another for all ther apps

To the best of my knowledge, Windows is not capable of setting a specific sound card based on the app being used, it's all or nothing.
Try a google search or search the Microsoft site.

  • Suggest me a usb sound card for mac mini

please suggest me a usb sound card for mac mini (i need 5.1 sound)

The Griffin Technology FireWave will give you the 3 'cables' ("FireWave outputs six channel audio through three 1/8” (3.5mm) stereo mini-jacks: Left/Right, Center/Subwoofer and Right Surround/Left Surround.") connection for surround sound (speakers) audio. Whether or not a particular headphone set is compatible, you might ask Griffin directly about that. If you're playing a DVD with VLC or the Apple DVD Player, you will get surround sound. But, you'd have to find an MP3 with multi-channel audio inside it to play surround sound out of iTunes.

Please pick me a special sound card , But not expensi've .

Preferably you would use a n AGP based graphics card as your radeon 9600 is. The PCI-x slots have lower bandwidth and would be slower.
    Possible Upgrades
    Radeon 9800pro
    Radeon 9800XT
    Radeon X800XT
    Radeon X850XT
    nVidia 6800GS/GT
    nVidia 7800
All of which are in demand and short supply at present due to the new RoHS recycling requirements.

  • Recommended sound card for Oracle Redhat Linux 64 bit?

    Dear Experts,
I'm trying to install the latest Oracle Redhat 5.
64 bit. On a certified Asus motherboard.
It will be a dual boot windows/Linux machine.
And I'm having an awful time with the sound card for my new server.
(It will be used for learning, at home. It's important to
have sound for some instructional videos that I will also watch.)
Other installs, sound has installed and worked fine.
I believe it's partially because the sound came directly off
    the motherboard in those cases.
But with this new server, it came with a sound card, no onboard.
The sound card works with windows. But not with Linux.
I've been swapping three sound cards in and out, trying to get
one to work. Each has some partial success, but none meet all
    of the requirements (below).
What is really frustrating is that I want the sound to go
to the green headphone jack on the front of the computer case.
To do this, there is a cable that connects the sound card, to
    the front of the chassis.
The existing sound card that I have, has a connector for this.
It is an "HD audio", or an AC 97 connector. There two rows of
five pins, with one pin blocked up, so that the connector is
inserted in the correct manner. The cord is hard wired to the case.
You can see some images of the pins and the cords here:

    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27289176
You would figure that whether the connector existed or not would be a standard
feature that would be listed for sound cards. But it's rare to find it listed anywhere.
When I went to the computer store, I had to open all the boxes to see if it
was there or not!!!! Manufacturers, this is not that difficult!!
At this point, after a couple of days of struggle, I just want to buy a
simple sound card that works right out of the box.
    Here are the requirements:
    - gets instantly recognized by Linux (Oracle Redhat 5) 64 bit, and plays sound
with the standard Linux drivers. I believe I have all of the drivers installed,
because a few cards do play with them automatically. During installation, I
    installed Every package available.
    - no installation of special Linux drivers required.
    - the other big requirment is that the card have output to an HD Audio,
or AC 97 connector, and will play music through the headphone jack.
(Believe it or not, I have one card that works fine out the back,
but won't work through the HD Audio. But it works fine in Windows)
    - will also work with Windows 64 bit.
Does anyone have any good sound card recommendations that will meet all these requirements?
    Thanks a lot!

Almost a year later... what have you been listening too? :-)
I have to admit that I'm not an expert for "sound" under Linux. I think you may find http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page interesting. It also shows which sound cards are compatible.
ALSA is pretty much standard under Linux and stands for Advanced Linux Sound Architecture. Together with pulse-audio it provides audio and MIDI functionality to the Linux operating system and is, by default, also included in RHEL and other descendants. You can install pulseaudio support using the EPEL repository following the instructions at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL
    wget rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/x86_64/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
    sudo rpm -Uvh epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
    yum list alsa* pulseaudio*
    Loaded plugins: downloadonly, rhnplugin, security
This system is not registered with ULN.
    ULN support will be disabled.

  • PLEASE HELP!! ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card for NOTEBO

Hi. I'm new here and found this forum because I have problems with my?Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card for notebooks. The card itself works fine with my Dell XPS notebook but I also purchased the upgrade kit-speaker docking module that would allow me to play my 4/4. speakers. The problem lies withiin the speaker docking module (upgrade kit). I'm running Windows Vista, could this be the problem? I don't get sound from my speakers. When I run the diagnostic test I only hear sounds from my front left and right speakers and nothing from my sub and my back speakers. I hear NOTHING when I play music or anything off of my laptop. Please help with this issue. Thank you.

That's great, but ideally i would require to purchase from the UK.....

  • Multiple Sound Card for data acquisition gives read buffer error

I am using 6 usb based sound cards for voltages and currents mearuments of a three phase delta system.. Hardware is working well. but in labview when i use builtin Input=>sound box for data acquisition it also works well upto 4 inputs... but when i use more i.e. 6 it starts giving error "cannt perform action, read buffer is full" some thing like this... som times it goes to "not responding"...i have tried to find the solution and found in another post of this fourm to varry the sampling rate... i did it upto 96000 that is maximum ... but still problem is same...i need to know, how to manually increase the read buffer. if not possible then.. is there any way that labview stop giving any type of error during simulation?

thnx i hv solved that problem ... now there is another problem... i am getting all my signals in computer but problem comes when i use phase detector. it keep on showing different values in phase measurement block.. how can i manage the signal with correct phase. i cannt send code cz it has many VIs and they are spread in computer. so i am pasting come photos that are showing different. look in picture...it is from same signal and the phase is different..

  • Sound Card for Notebook that supports

Hi?I have read that certain sound cards (including Audigy 2) that support 5. and also 7. surround sound don't actually support 2. users such as myself. I need a sound card for a newly purchased notebook and would welcome advice in this area ie: what's the best soundcard to get (external or pcmia) that will support good old fashioned 2. stereo? Many thanks in advance?Sparky2

If the PCMCIA type in your laptop is type of ExpresCard then there are no PCMCIA solutions available yet. Also there are not many PCMCIA solutions available at all. If plain analog stereo output is enough for you then I suggest you to look these:
    - E-MU 02, ECHO Indigo DJ and IO. These are all under $US200.
As USB, from Creative, the E-MU 0202 USB and 0404 USB are superior devices compared to other Creatives (SoundBlaster) USB models . There also are plenty of USB devices available under many brands. Just check this theread to see some of those.
FireWire devices are a bit more expensi've but if you plan to invest lets say $US300 - $US500 then ... Those low budged ($US00) FireWire devices are not very high quality by the converrters.

  • Sound Card for Power Mac G5 (Late 2005)

Hi folks, I'm sure this question has probably been asked here before but I'll appreciate it if someone could give me some info on pci-e sound cards for the late 2005 Power Mac G5.

    Hi Joe Goes;
Instead of going to PCIe cards which I think would be extreme expensive, I would suggest connecting the optical cables to a receiver or amp and then connecting the multiple set of speakers to it. Which is what I did. I picked up an amp at used equipment table at the local sound store for nearly nothing. In fact the optical cables I needed cost me more the amp if you can believe that.

  • Sound Card for Power Mac G4 Quicksilver

I was having a look around for sound cards for the Power Mac G4 Quicksilver and read about the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 and 7.1. Are these the best sound cards available for the G4 Quicksilver? Are there better ones?

I've started using the iMic by Griffin. It's an USB stereo input/output audio adapter with both mic and line level input/ouput. They provide a free download of their audio editing software called Finyl Vinyl (I think), which lets you record and edit audio mainly (though you can input video with the adapter - need different software though). Though it's intended mainly for recording from turntables, you can input and edit most any audio with a mini plug to RCA jacks cable. I've used a cassette deck and a mini disc recorder so far. I haven't played much with the mic input so far, but the line in audio is very good (I've worked in community radio for a while now, so I have a pretty good ear). The adapter also works with other audio editing software like Audacity and Logic Express (possibly Garageband too, I haven't tried). And it's available for under $30 on places like eBay.

  • Sound Card for the Mac Pro

    Hello,
I've searched around but can't seem to find any definitive answer to buying a sound card for my Mac Pro. I want to plug in a guitar and microphone for garageband and voice overs on FCP. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Best look for usb/fw audio interfaces which can be inexpensive and easy to get up an running.
There are many many cards on the market all depending on how many I/O you are chasing and overall sonic results.
If your in the market for entry level cards - check out
    www.m-audio.com
    www.focusrite.com
    www.digidesign.com
    or
if your in the semi-pro market, look at www.rme-audio.com (mainly the fireface series)
My pick if you are an entry level user wanting a great 2in/2out interface, have a look at the Duet by Apogee.

(I use all their top end pro kit and can tell you they are a very good company in both product and support)
