Sound Card with 2 audio lines IN/

About to build new computer which will contain a large 'Jukebox'. To run through my home theater and receive inputs from my tape player & vinyl record player I need left & right lines in & out. Most sound cards have only one line in & out. What is best option to handle this?

This site (http://harness.gadgetscope.com/view/XFIH-002) sells a cable for this purpose that will work with any SB card with the ten pin white connector on it. Bit expensi've but should do the trick.

  • Sound VIs with audio files

I've been stuck with this VI that's supposed let the user set the frecuency and volume of an audio file, and play it.
I managed to get the frecuency part working with Play Waveform, but that doesn't let the volume be modified (or the playback to be stopped before it finishes, as far as I know). So I tried writing it directly into the sound card with the other Sound VIs, but I've only managed distortion with continuous samples, or silence and crashes with finite ones, which are what I understand I should be using.
I've been trying to figure this out for hours, and I think most of my problems come from my lack of understanding of how the Sound VIs work, despite reading their help and support pages several times.
I've attached my latest VI. The playback doesn't work at all and it may crash your computer if it's anything like mine, but as long as you don't try to play anything it should be safe.

Hi. I'm sorry for the late reply.
In the end, I managed to get the VI working by mofifying the program entirely. I'm still no sure what kept causing the crashes, but I'll try to figure it out at a later time using your advice.
I'm very thankful for your reply, it made me realize there's a lot of tools in LabView that I've been ignoring because I never received proper instruction on the program.

Yes, DDL works with EAX. That's probably you're best solution. You could either get a Titanium or Prelude, which both come with DDL.
Alternati'vely OEM Xtreme Music and Xtreme Gamer (SB077x series) cards often have optical ports. You could get one of these and add the DDL Pack from Creative (about $5 American). That can work out cheaper than a Titanium or Prelude.
Creative sell a flexijack adaptor giving optical out ports. That will work with most X-Fi models.
If you play a lot of games I would skip the Audigy series and the X-fi Xtreme Audio.

  • Desktop sound card with lapt

Well.. its time for me to head to college.. so I just got a new laptop with much better specs than my was-amazing-last-year desktop.. And I have an X-fi Fatalty card with which i'm gettin very good latency results..
Skippin most things, my questions are simple:
) Is there a way to use my desktop sound card with my laptop? Any sort of hardware modifications that I can use?
    2) If not, is there a way that I can stream the audio directly from my desktop to my laptop without much of a delay?
Thanks.. Any help would be appreciated..

  • I want to use the sound card with LabView

Hi. Who can help me, I want to use the sound card with LabView, I have found the function but I can't use it. Thanks.

    Christi,
In LabVIEW 6.1 I found some examples they use those sound VIs. They are located in \examples\sound folder. Those examples should give you a good overview how to use the VIs.
    Hope this helps

  • Analog devise with Audio Line O

I have tapes which I would like to convert to MP3. So far I have not been able to locate any tape player that has an "Audio Line Out" feature. Am I correct in assuming that an older component tape deck is the only one with Audio Line Out? Does anyone have any other suggestions? The tapes are comedy so not easily available for download or I would go that route.

I bought a two deck Sony component a year or so ago, and this had line out.

  • Is there a sound card with a Microphone AND Line In jack on the boa

I have been looking through Creative's cards and it seems like they all share the Microphone and Line In on one jack. I need 2 separate jacks because I need to use both at the same time. I do not have a free dri've bay for a bay device either, so I need the jacks to be on the card itself.
Does Creative make a sound card like this? Or should I look somewhere else?

  • M-Audio Delta 192 Sound Card With Adobe Audition

I have a m-audio sound card and a mackie pro fx8 mixer, I am running windows7 64-bit. I was wondering how I need to set my preferences in Adobe Audition? When hitting record I am not recording my audio

Make sure that you have the M-Audio ASIO drivers installed. Then under Audition's Preferences/Audio Hardware select ASIO for Device Class and M-Audio ASIO for Device. Under Audio Channel Mapping select appropriate M-Audio inputs and outputs. If you are trying to record in the Mutitrack window make sure you select the correct input for each track. It will probably say Default Stereo Input but you can click on that and select any of the inputs that are available from the Delta 192.

  • Using the internal sound card with good optical A/D converters?

Dear Logic users, I have two questions:
    1) I was wondering if the internal sound card of my MacBook is of such quality that I can achieve good results if I bought a good A/D converter with a digital output to plug directly into the optical line in of the MacBook? E.g. the Samson C-valve http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1651&brandID=2 along with the M-Audio Co2 http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/CO2-main.html to convert the coaxial S/PDIF to optical? (Same procedure for the line out signal, with a D/A converter of course.) Or is the internal sound card of such inferior quality that I should stick with my current MBox 2 Pro? My initial thought was that if the signal is kept within the digital realm, it is really the A/D converters that determine the sound quality, and that the internal sound card of my MacBook does little less than calculate the digital signal. Maybe someone with a more intimate knowledge of how the internal sound card works with digital I/O could chime in?
    2) If the above mentioned approach would be feasible, suggestions of other A/D and D/A converters would be most welcome.
The reason for this is to be free from the driver issues that sometimes occur with external hardware, especially with software/OS upgrades.

If you are recording Midi using loops and all it wont make a difference in having a AD/ converter. as everything you are doing is in the box.
However if you want to get a Analogue signal into the computer then its a different case, and I'm not talking about using Optical from a keyboard, and even if i was you would need to have a converter anyway,
even though i am talking about Recording Vocals or Live instrument!
This is where the Converters come into play, be aware Converter and sound-cards are two different source of hardware,
anyway Back to Converters on live vocals this is where the AD comes into play,
    transferring Analogue Signal into Digital,
and also getting used to the sound of the converts, or even liking the the sound of the converters/soundcard which is always going to be subjective and which also shares a relation with Near-field monitors,
you change your monitors and it seems as if your sound changes that is how tight the relation is between the two.

  • External Sound Cards with 5.1

Does anyone know any 5.1 USB sound cards that work properly. I want
my 4.1 analog system to work. I have heard that the Sound Blaster Extigy works but don't know if its only through the optical port or if the analog ports work as well. I'd also like to spend less than a $100.
    Please let me know. Thanks.

ok ive been looking around at a few but i dont really understand all these differnt kind of cables and what i need.
this is what i need the sound card to be compatible with, this is the info for the logitech z-5500
    Source Inputs:
Digital optical for DVD or CD players, PlayStation®2, Xbox®**
Digital coaxial for DVD or CD players or PC sound cards (requires coaxial cable, sold separately)
6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 2, 4, or 6 channel PC sound cards OR
6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 3 stereo analog mini audio sources, like CD and DVD players, Playstation 2, Xbox, or 2 channel PC sound cards (somedevices may require stereo mini to dual RCA adapter, sold separately)
Analog stereo-mini (on side panel of control center) for portable CD, MP3,or MiniDisc® players
now all i need is something that will make these speakers work properly with the imac.
now i found this the Firewave
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/firewave/
but im just unsure if this will work
    i also found this one
    http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main.html
but again im really unsure if this will work
if someone could help shed some light i would be very greatful!!

  • Are there any sound cards with best driver support for Arch?

I was wondering if there are any sound cards that have the best driver support for ArchLinux? I currently own a Creative Labs X-FI Platinum Edition. The main reason I like the Platinum is that has an interface you can plug MIDI and Audio ports into. It seems to me, however, that Creative is the worst company to support Linux drivers. If anyone has any opinions, please feel free to comment. According to all my research, ALSA sound drivers are the most supportive for sound. Am I also correct in this assumption?

yeah, creative sucks. go with m-audio. they support linux unlike creative.

  • Sound problems with back line out port

Hey everyone, I just sent an email to MSI Tech Support, but figure I would post a message here as well.  I just put together a new system, but I'm having a problem with the back line out port.
My problem: When I plug in the front panel audio connectors (Left Audio Out, Left Audio Return, Right Audio Out, Right Audio Return) in the motherboard on pins 5-6 and 9-10 of JAUD1, the back line out does not work properly.  I get sound on only the right speaker of the headphones.
    More info:
    - Audio Driver: 5.10.0.5620 (from MSI CD)
    - If I instead plug the headphones on the front audio line out, then sound is fine
    - Here's the strange part, if I unplug the front audio connectors from the motherboard (and short pins 5-6, 9-10 with the jumpers, obviously), then the sound on the back line out works properly!
    - My Windows sound settings are fine
Has anyone heard of this problem?  Any ideas/suggestions of what I could try?
Could this be a defective board?  Could it be bad wires on the case?  Seems unlikely since both back line out and front line out work depending on what I have setup.
    Help! :-)
    Thanks,
    icab

    Rear sound problem
Third time this has come up in 1 or 2 weeks.
    Steve,
I appreciate the reply, but I believe you are wrong.  Yes, I have searched the forum and did find that thread.  Yes, I have read the manual.  The only thing that it says is: "If you don't want to connect to the front audio header, pins 5 & 6, 9 & 10 have to be jumpered in order to have signal output directed to the rear audio ports. Otherwise, The Line-out connector on the back panel will not function."  That's not my case since I want both ports to work (not outputting the signal both at the same time, obviously).
This can't be ByDesign.  Either my board is defective or MSI is not following the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Guide correctly.  The whole point of having 4 wires for the front panel audio ports, 2 of the wires being Aud_Ret_R and Aud_Ret_L, is so that the audio signal is sent to the front line out and _returned_ to the back line out if nothing is plugged in the front line out.
I have an IBM machine with an intel mobo at work and it works as mentioned in the design guide.
Any other ideas, anyone? I can still RMA my motherboard, but it's a design issue, i guess I'm stuck. I never got an automated reply from MSI Tech Support, so I guess my email never went through.  I'll send another email and let the forum know of the results.
    Thanks,
    Igor

  • Sound Card/Beats Audio Fail

This is my 4th HP Beats Audio Laptop. All the other ones work fine except for this one. I dont know if its the sound card or beats audio. But the sound is terrible. I use this laptop mainly for music production and have a DAW (Sony Acid). I dont know which is the problem. When i mute a single channel, the sound fluctates. I called HP, reinstalled drivers, etc...
