Sound Constantly Skipping

Have a HPG60 laptop.
No matter what program I use itunes/vlc/wmc/wmp/etc. the audio skips. MP3, AVI, DVD, doesn't matter the format. No problems for a year, and all of the sudden this problem happens. Pretty sure I didn't download anything new.
The most puzzling thing is this problem only seems to occur when i have the computer hooked up to my TV thru HDMI. Media is the main use of this computer, so this is a big problem.
The audio skips every few seconds and cuts out about .5 seconds of audio. It is incredibly annoying. Does anyone have any answers or tips that i can use to remedy this? I installed any and all updates that i could and it didnt help the problem. Shutdown/restarted several times to no avail. Mildly tinkered with the audio settings in control panel. Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

I Think I found it!!!! After a lot of research today I found this website and my audio still skips every now and then but not nearly what it used to be. Let me know if you have the same luck.

you may need to update the audio drivers and Intel Rapid storage driver(if applicable) from hp.com.
Please visit www.hp.com/in and select suport & drivers>drivers & softwares> type the the complete model of your PC such as dv6-6100 dv6-3100 etc... select your computer model (if listed), or select the CTO(such as dv6-6100 CTO) model(which works for whole series) now select the OS you are running. you have the list of drivers for your PC.

Sound Constantly Skipping on my Hp Pavillion dv5000 laptop

Problem has been reoccuring over the last 6 months and has either fixed itself or I've found a more computer savy friend to toy around until it is fixed, however this time there is no such luck.
When ever I play any mp3 or video that is not streamed there is extreme skipping on the audio. Anything being streamed still plays without skipping.
I've tried restoring my system to a date that was before the sound problem but that had no luck.
I've reloaded the sound drivers and again had no luck.
I remember when a friend fixed this problem for me last time it had something to do with the format of my ram (not quite sure as it was about a month and a half ago).
Please help me this is the most frustrating thing

Why does my nano make a multi note sound and skip songs

When hooked up to a memorex ipod stereo, my iPod Nano (6th gen) VERY frequently will begin playing a song (while on shuffle/all songs) and after a few seconds or sometimes after a minutes or so the stereo will emit a multi-note sound and skip to the next song in the rotation. VERY ANNOYING to say the least. Is there anyone out there having this problem?

If it only happens when using Memorix iPod stereo, you need to contact their tech support.

Many of my older ITunes downloads play perfectly well on my IMac but constantly skip to the next song or suddenly stop playing on my IPhone. The problem is the same with both my old 4s and my new 5s. I have tried deleting and re-downloading to the phones.

I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible. When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip. ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them.

Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.

Sound click skip stutter mini 311

I upgraded my Hp Mini 311 from Win 7 Home Premium to Win7 Pro.
Since then every audio track I have skips EXACTLY 20 seconds from the end of a track (just like a dirty cd) regardless of the track length. I'm also unable to restore the mini to factory defaults, and I can't get a reply from Hp customer support for restore disks or help or warranty, despite many attempts.
I tried a fix in another thread which was unsuccessful.
So far I have:
*Checked RAM/CPU usage.
*Removed all possible conflicting programs
*Reinstalled drivers
*Removed all drivers
*Used windows generic drivers
*Used different media players
*Enabled/Disabled all enhancements and exclusive rights to sound devices.
*Used different media player programs
*Rebuilt the media library
*Played media from different devices such as a network and USB
*Re-installed the OS (Restoring the Original OS no longer works) - I would kill if someone could help me get hold of restore disks please!
*De fragmented ALL drives
*Put media players as priority processes
*Sacrificed virgins to the Great Cthulu
* Cleaned the windows registry
Please, for the love of god and all that is holy, someone help me!

I found a solution on myhpmini.com I've posted it below for anyone else with this problem:
Here's a quick guide to fix the stuttering problem.
* Disclaimer * I take no responsibility if this fubars your Mini. Do this at your own discretion.
Open Control Panel -> Device Manager. Go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Choose the Nvidia nForce Serial ATA Controller.
Go to the Driver tab. Click Update Driver. Choose Browse my computer for driver software. Click Let me pick from list of device drivers.
Select the Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. Click Next, Okay, or whatever it asks for, and you're done.
The computer will need to reboot twice - once for the controller, and a second time to redetect the hard drive.

AirTunes sound constantly cuts out on Laptop

Both me and my roommate play our iTunes through the single house stereo via AirTunes, me on my iMac and her on her MacBook. I never have problems with my playback, but half the time she uses it the sound will cut out constantly. There will be a few seconds of sound, then a few seconds of silence, on and on.
It's very annoying.
Neither of us experiences any problems or cutting out with using the internet at all, even while this AirTunes problem is happening.
We've tried setting the iTunes streaming buffer size to large. I've lowered the security on the Express to WPA only, increased the multicast rate to 11 and enabled interference robustness. We've also tried closing all other apps on her machine and installing more RAM. none of which has helped the problem.
She's using a MacBook2,1 and OSX 10.4.11
Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving us both mad.

And for the info. At first i thought this might be a good lead, since for the first time in the months since i bought the Express my iMac iTunes started having this problem as well (though this is probably just because i hardly use the AirTunes feature). But lowering the multicast rate doesn't seem to have any affect on the issue either. So i've effectively ruled out the multicast rate as any sort of cause/solution to the problem.
I've tried watching the network activity monitor when this is occurring, but see no correlation between the network activity and the periods of silence from the AirTunes.
The wiring doesn't seem to be a problem either, as i can hook up either computer to the jack going into the express and it plays just fine.
Maybe i just have a dud Express unit?

Skipping or pausing tracks causes a burst of sound before skip or pause. Extremely distracting HELP!

When ever i skip a track in itunes i get a sudden burst of sound and then the track beggins to play. I get no problems with the audio quality when the track is playing but it is extremly annoying! The same happens when pausing. I have reinstalled but it still happens. This does not happen in any other audio player including winamp which i just downloaded and tested minuites ago. This only seemes to have started happening since i brought a dedicated soundcard as i listen to high bit rate lossless music through high end headphones. HELP!!
P.S sound enhancer is not turned on

The same exact thing is happening to me (but I have Snow Leopard). My music is on a USB external hard drive (1TB MyBook) and with almost every song I try to skip, it hangs for upwards of 5 seconds. This is especially annoying because I shuffle my music quite often and I tend to skip over many songs before I find one I want to listen to; and, it happens both when the music is paused and playing.
This hanging has never happened to this extent before upgrading to iTunes 9.0. If there is not a fix to this how can I go about downgrading to iTunes 8.0?

Sound constantly dropping on BT sport

The sound is constantly dropping out watching Liverpool v Everton on BT sport Hd. Are they ever going to sort this problem out, or do they just not care!

Random electronic sound beeps (skipping)

Hi,
I dragged a movie from iMovie into iDVD and I get random electronic sound/audio beeps (skipping) through out the movie when playing/previewing in iDVD. It doesn't happen when playing in iMovie, only in iDVD. Any ideas on how to solve this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I just made my first iDVD slideshow and I have the same symptoms after adding a soundtrack from iTunes...this is on the finisehed (burned) DVD on various players.

The tracks that are playing on my iTunes constantly skip.

Songs played on my iTunes skip nonstop and at times even scrambled.

I have this too, like many others and I have tried everything. It only seems to affect certain sound cards. Trying moving back to an older version 7.0.2 was the last one to work for me. Apple doesn't seem to want to fix it. http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm

Music sync to ipod using Itunes 7.3.1 sounds like skipping cd

I have an older 12" PowerBook G4. Since installing the latest Quicktime (7.2) and iTunes(7.3.1) any music that I sync with my iPod sounds like a skipping cd. The music on the iPod sound like a skipping cd for a short time and then just skips to the next song. The next song of course does the same thing. The music sounds fine when played back using iTunes. The music is encoded as a MP3 using VBR. All of the music I have previously encoded (before iTunes 7.3) and put on the iPod continues to play just fine (using the same MP3 and VBR settings). I have tried resetting my iPod, but that did not help. Only having USB 1.1 ports and am not too excited by ideas that involve syncing 40GB of music back onto my iPod.
Any ideas what has changed in the latest software version or what can be done? It would grand to carry some new music to work.

So, the music sounds like a skipping cd and then shortly just skips onto the next song. In Itunes I selected the skipping songs (which happen to play fine in Itunes) and used "Convert Selection to MP3" under the "Advanced" menu, deleted the skipping songs from my iPod and then added the freshly converted versions of the songs back to the iPod. This worked. No skipping and the songs played all of the way though. Why do I have to convert an mp3 created by iTunes to an mp3 using "Convert Selection to MP3" in order to make things work?
I do not think that is the problem.
I use a laptop with limited hard drive space. After iTunes rips my cd's into mp3's I copy the mp3 files to an external hard drive, deleted the songs from iTunes and re-add them from the external hard drive using the "Add to Library" option under "Files". I did this fora couple of cd's. Then I deleted the corresponding songs off of my iPod and re-added them. The songs on the iPod again sound like a skipping cd before just skipping on to the next song.
One more time, I used "Convert Selection to MP3" under the "Advanced" menu to convert the skipping songs. This time I just left them in the iTunes Music folder on the internal hard drive instead moving them to the external hard drive. After deleting and re-adding the songs to my iPod the songs played fine.
I do not use an "iTunes Music folder" on my external hard drive and like to organize my mp3's to my likings.
The question now is, why can't mp3's be moved from the "iTunes Music" folder on the internal disk to an external disk? I do not have enough room on my internal disk to carry around my music and still accomplish work.
I had been using the method described above for years without problems.

I have tried updating my driver, which did not work. Whenever I move the mouse around the sound begins to skip or come to a halt.

Ipod 160 Classic Constantly Skipping Songs. :c

I have an Ipod 160 Classic thats been working just fine til now. Now it skips a whole lot of songs and plays some half way. It does it both on the ipod and computer. I dont wanna restore my ipod because I dont have all my music saved into my computer. :c Any suggestions??
