Sound corruption?

Hello all
I can't really find the right place for this question, and this seems the most appropriate.
I'm having trouble with the sound I get from my computer when editing in Premiere and Audition. Mostly it's fine, and plays out normally, but every now and then it becomes tinny and reverby?! Almost as if the file is corrupt, but then it will be OK when I do my quick fix. The way I've been fixing it for now is just to close down all programs and restart and that seems to work. I don't think this has ever occured with sound from RAM preview in AE but I barely use sound in RAM preview in AE. Has any one else had this problem?
Is it even Adobe software causing it?
Please help!
Thank you!

It uses on board sound via an optical cable to the speakers. Here are some details:
ADI® AD2000B 8 -Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- Support Jack-Detection, Multi-Streaming, and Front Panel Jack-Retasking
- Coaxial / Optical S/PDIF out ports at back I/O
Motherboard- Asus - P6T DELUXE S1366 X5
Sorry for not being terribly helpful but I think the problem possibly DOES carry on over into other programs. It happen just a few minutes ago, I opened up VLC player to test and the problem didn't occur in VLC player, but then afterwards was gone in Premiere! Very strange..
Thank you for your reply

  • YouTube videos without sound - Corrupt flash player? Help?

Hi everyone, I have a bit of a problem. I went on to YouTube this morning, trying to watch a video. Unfortunately, the video failed, and it wouldn't play. All I got was the ad in the very first frame, yet the video thought it was playing. I looked online, and it said that my flash player was corrupt. So I went and I installed flash player on my laptop again. I tried to play the video again, and it played. Unfortunately, there was no sound. I went through about five extremely unhelpful troubleshooting pages shared between Adobe and YouTube, and got no results. Pretty much, Google has kept saying it's my Adobe, and Adobe has kept saying that everything is fine with flash player. Could anyone help me? This is very frustrating.

  • IMovie 10.0.2 - share to file sound corruption

I am using iMovie 10.0.2 and have a piece of video and added a soundtrack. I then share to file but the final result has 'juddery' sound.
Playback in iMovie is perfect, yet the save seems to corrupt the sound.
I've tried allsorts to resolve the problem. I have even tried doing the same in Final Cut Pro in which I tried many different save formats and configurations - all with the same result.
My complication here is that I use ProLogic X linked through Focusrite Automap4 and I don't know if that is adding an unnecessary delay/lag or similar that is screwing up the sound when it is written to file.
Has anybody come across this problem (and found a resultion) - or can anybody suggest a way of switching off / standardising my installation (without then screwing up my Logic X configuration) ?
    ?Help?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • Alarm 'Sound' Corrupted?

    Hello.
I own an iPod Touch 5th Gen, and the Alarm clock 'Sound', does not work properly.
When I try to add new songs to the Alarm 'Sound', and then going back, it always defaults back to the two most played songs on my library. Pushing the 5 newest songs that I have added upwards.
Is there a way to fix this? This has never happened, before. I am currently running the newest iOS update, iOS 8.3.
    Thanks for the assistance.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Corrupted sound files

Instrument sound files on my 3rd party stand-alone audio apps (particularly Native Instument apps like Kontakt and Bandstand) become corrupted and distorted after a couple of uses for some reason>
I can restart, or sometimes just go to system Sound Preferences and reset the sound volume from there. These solutions will sometimes fix the sound corruption for awhile, but it returns quickly.
Any opinions on why this might be happening?
    Thanks, Bill

I can't find a consistent answer. Some suggest a latency issue, but that does not seem to be it. Restarting the app will sometimes, although not always, return the sounds to normal (i.e. undistorted). then the problem returns... it has me perplexed.

  • Is iPod Shuffle corrupting songs or what?

I have this 2th gen iPod Shuffle I've been using for about four+ years. My problem is that some songs now sound corrupted. One, for instance, plays a few seconds then starts to make noises at some points. Others play a few seconds then jump to the middle then jump to the end or near and suddenly are finished.
I deleted the first example song above from iTunes (Windows) and copied a "working version" of it, that is, without the noises. But when I played it with my iPod Shuffle it was again with the very same noises.
What is wrong? Is iPod Shuffle corrupting songs or what?
BTW, is there a way to fix stuff like that in iTunes or other Apple software? Is some sort of defragmentation possible?
TIA for your attention and help.

Try to connect your iPod to computer, open iTunes, select your iPod and click Restore (the process will take some time). If songs still sound corrupted after the restore, most likely iPod flash memory is bad due to wear.

  • "Scratch" Playback sound at the start of songs/when cycling through menus

Yesterday I decided to activate genius on my new laptop. Today, I noticed a "scratching" noise appear in the first few sconds of playback, and when cycling through the menus, (from music to itunes store, to ipod, etc.). After looking at some of the discussions here, and deciding my problem wasnt being covered, I tried a couple things and managed to sort this out personally:
    Simply:
    1) Open windows sound manager.
    2) Scroll down to find itunes - "page load complete".
    3) Test sound to ensure it's the scratching sound corrupting playback.
    4) Set sound to "none".
    5) Apply changes.
I then realised some people may not consider this solution, so posted it up here.
    hope this helps.
    Scott

It's usually from 3rd party VI's not clearing the buffer from a previous note when bouncing.
    Yes it's still in L8.
I leave a few bars of blank space at the beginning and before I bounce while the seq is still playing, I manually keep looping those blank bars by clicking the playhead at bar 1 BEFORE it starts to play the track again. When I don't hear anymore ring out, I bounce.
Seems kinda silly, but that's what works. I was really hoping they'd fix this or not let the plugins pass the AU exam if they can't clear the buffers. That would motivate the 3rd parties to update pretty quick if that really is the problem.

  • Intel 915pm sound card can not work

My notebook PC's sound card is onboard 915pm (ICH6M), Audio codec is ALC880. When I use hwd, it can not find the sound card. Then I use alsaconf, it find snd-hda-intel. After I " modprobe snd-hda-intel", xmms can work with mp3 file, but there is no sound output from my speaker.
    Why ???

I have this sound card and I was able to get it to work with standard and archck kernels. But there are some bugs and sound sounds corrupted(it's fixed in 2.6.16). Compiling these modules in to the kernel helps a little. But you sould get it to work without any problems.

  • MS-6378 Onboard Video and Sound

Hi.I notice that the FAQ for this board says that the onboard video cannot be disabled, does that mean that it is impossible to use a pci graphics card on it?If it is possible, how would i go about it?
I am also having the problem with sound corruption or slow down, particularly when scrolling whilst playing a cd or whatever.I am not comfortable with messing with IRQs since i know nothing about them, so can anyone tell me how to fix the problem in simpler terms.

Here is some related info from my previous post:
The problem you are experiencing most likely traces back to a video card design defect with version three of the board in combination with Windows XP and all of the drivers to date. The only solution is to send back the board to MSI and request a different model. The model MS-6738-010 has an AGP slot with similar specs. I just sent back the same board experiencing the same problems. It is being widely reported on the web also. Microsoft support has already investigated numerous crash reports from many people with the same problem. It all comes down to a video card problem in combination with the drivers for the board.
MSI currently has no fix for the problem on this board. Your only choice is to send it back and request another board.

    STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
    STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M
    CAUSE
This issue may occur if the display driver is caught in an infinite loop while it waits for the video hardware to become idle. This issue typically indicates a problem with the video hardware or that the display driver cannot program the hardware correctly.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current driver for your video adapter, or replace your video card.
    WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
    1.   Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
    2.   On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.
    3.   Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then clear the Enable Write Combining check box.
    4.   Click OK, and then click OK.
Note This procedure prevents the display driver from programming the hardware incorrectly, but you may lose some display functionality and performance. Although you can increase the hardware acceleration settings higher than None to regain functionality and performance, these settings increase the chance that the issue will occur again. For maximum stability, leave hardware acceleration off.

  • IPod Touch skips, stutters, glitches through songs since software upgrade!

    Hi everyone,
*Since I upgraded my iPod Touch* to the latest available software update +(for the 1st Gen is 3.1.3)+, it has become *unable to properly play any music encoded above 128kbps*. Before the upgrade, my iPod could play music encoded in any higher bitrates like a champ! All the way to 320kbps, variable, even Apple Lossless format used to play flawlessly.
Suddenly after the last *firmware update*, most of the songs in my iPod Touch would *skip, glitch and garble, making electronic glitches and annoying noises* for no apparent reason. On occasion, the iPod would even *add several second of silence in the middle of random songs*. It's bizarre!
It definitely took me a while to figure it out, and spent weeks testing and researching what could be the problem. It was truly driving me nuts! The result of all these tests was clear: the *iPod Touch now CHOKES on any music file encoded higher than 128 kbps ACC*. Truly pathetic for such an expensive little jukebox. Even the early MP3 players I owned 10 years ago were able to play variable rate MP3 files without a glitch. *_This is a major bug that needs to be solved_*.
For those interested, I did the following tests through my weeks of research to find out the culprit to this problem:
    - - - Reinstalled the device software
    - - - Reformatted the device, then updated the software
    - - - Uninstalled all apps, reinstalled and tested my music after reinstalling each app
    - - - Disabled Wi-Fi (no difference)
    - - - Copied over my music library from scratch, several times (it was painful)
    - - - Reformatted a few albums in different bitrates, from 96kbps, all the way to 320kbps, both in constant and variable rates, and tested them one by one. This took days.
In the end, there is one thing that was consistently clear: *any songs encoded over 128kbps would skip, glitch and sound corrupted. Time after time*. All those music files I had encoded at higher rates +(192 kbps, variable 240 kbps and beyond)+ would make the iPod choke.
There is one temporary solution to this mess, but it involves reducing the quality of your music files: The only way I can now play my music collection in my iPod Touch without skips and glitches is by downconverting my files to the now *obsolete 128kbps*. Only when I converted my music to 128kbps, the annoying skips and glitches stopped. For an audiophile like myself, this was an absolutely painful decision, as I can tell the *obvious loss in quality and nuance in my music files since i had to downconvert them*.
Funny: this skipping problem *also affects any files purchased from iTunes* +(encoded at 240 kbps variable rate)+. Should I ask for my money back, Apple?
I find this irritating and painful, since *the ONE THING the iPod is supposed to do well* (aside from apps, games, and web browsing) *is to PLAY AUDIO AND MUSIC FILES*.
I spent a lot of money on this machine, and until recently it worked like magic; I just wished it played music again like it's supposed to. It's what the iPod was built to do. *Apple: Please fix the software!*
I wonder if there's a forum where I could post my detailed findings, so Apple engineers can take note of this *MAJOR BUG*.
PS: I have recently learned this is a very common bug, and tons of people are reaching out telling me they are experiencing the same annoying problems. Furthermore, *this seems to affect not just the 1st Gen, but ALL generations of the iPod Touch*. It's a *widespread software issue* that was not properly addressed in the latest software upgrade. I'm starting to worry about Apple's quality assurance process.

Hi everyone. Thanks to a tip in another forum, I think I had a breakthrough regarding this problem. I have the strong suspicion it's not the software for the iPod Touch, but instead, the problem comes from *iTunes and how it handles USB 2.0 transfers*.
To make a long story short, all your *music that's encoded above 128 kbps gets corrupted when you transfer it to your Touch from iTunes through your USB 2.0 connection*. That's where the problem is!
    I performed this simple test:
    *PART 1 - WIFI*
    - I connected my iPod Touch via Wi-Fi to the iTunes Store. Bought an album encoded at a very high bitrate (Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", encoded at 256KBPS).
    - Downloaded the Coldplay album directly to my iPod Touch via Wi-Fi.
    - Tested every song in the album, and they all played flawlessly.
    *PART 2 - USB 2.0*
    - Now, I erased the Coldplay album from my iPod Touch.
    - Connected my iPod Touch to my computer, and downloaded the album again via iTunes. I copied the very same album to my iPod Touch, this time using the USB 2.0 connection.
    - I tested every song in the album. Guess what: most of them are corrupted, skipping, glitching, making garbled noises.
I think a reached a minor "eureka" moment. *It's not the iPod Touch software: It's iTunes, and how iTunes deals with your USB 2.0 connection*.
Now, I'm not an engineer, and I don't know how to fix this problem. I wonder if there's anyone out there there that knows why high bitrate files get corrupted during the file transfer. Hope anyone can shed some additional light on this issue, so we can find a solution.

  • Cannot open some PDFs on Macbooks

Hi folks! I have Macbook (2008) and Macbook Pro (2010) and both cannot open some PDFs. I got an error message 'there was an error opening this document. the file is damaged and could not be repaired'. I tried to use Mac's Preview, Adobe's Acrobat (9 and 10, with latest updates) and Adobe's Photoshop CS5 - none did work. Both laptops have OSX 10.6.7 with all latest updates. The funny thing is that files work fine in old Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro on Windows XP though before opening it shows a message that the file was created in newer version of software and you should update yours but then it opens the file.
The problem is completely random and I cannot find any correlations with Acrobat's options/settings. Does anyone have any ideas?

Since you say that the file opens in Acrobat 6, why don't you do a Save As in that version to rewrite the file. Then it may work. (Basically, the file sounds corrupted.)
