Sound distorted after exporting, but is fine in Premiere

Hi,
The project sounds fine in premiere, (and yes, I checked to make sure it doesn't clip above 0db), but when I export it as an mpg, the mic'd track sounds distorted / a bit garbled.
The really curious thing is that sometimes if I export just the first minute, the problem track sounds fine...but for longer clips or the full movie, the track sounds distorted...including the same section at the beginning which sounded fine as a shorter clip.
Now I am using the dynamics effect on the problem track, but (1) it has worked fine in other projects, with exact same settings (2) it sounds fine in premiere (3) it isn't clipping according to the premiere level monitors.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Screen shot of export settings:

I should also add that I am able to export the entire movie without distortion if I turn the dynamics effect off...However, the track really does need this effect, so I'd love to know why it's causing the problem. Again the stumper of why the effect sounds fine in a short clip, but that same section sounds garbled if it extends to a longer clip.

  • Help with exporting. Video looks horrible after export, but great when in premiere pro

Hey guys, looking for some advice on exporting.
When I finish a video, the color and everything looks great while in premiere pro, but after exporting it, the color ends up looking dull and the whole video looks blurry.  I'm filming with a canon vixia hf200 at 60i. It imports as a AVCHD file, I deinterlace it, and then export at the Vimeo HD settings. What can be causing the video to look horrible after exporting? What settings should I be exporting under? Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like you're coming up against some of the colorspace handling issues that the Premiere pipeline has.
Since your source is 60i AVCHD it's HD and thus rec709 colorspace. If it gets encoded with the standard rec601 colorspace (SD sizes are this) then all the colors get crushed. Look for a "709" and "601" radio button in your export settings. If it's not there you're out of luck.
The "blurry" is probably a poor quality de-interlacer. If Vimeo permits interlaced vs progressive do that instead. it's always cleaner to stay in the same video format all the way through.
    TECHNICAL ASIDE:
rec709 is a triangle of possible colors that can be expressed by mixing of ratios of 3 emitters (the R G B corners of the triangle). (they are the RGB phosphors of a CRT and now LCD pixel elements)
rec709 is a bigger triangle than rec601 so it's capable of more colors. but if you accidently map that triangle's corners to the coordinates of rec601 it gets crushed.
In photography the "sRGB" uses the rec709 triangle. A bigger triangle that that is "Adobe RGB". So if you work in Adobe RGB and export to sRGB without conversion the colors get crushed because sRGB in inside the triangle of "Adobe RGB".

  • Perfect audio in FCPX timeline, distorted after export to QuickTime mov

Anyone experiencing distorted audio with a QuickTime movie file exported from Final Cut Pro X? The audio sounds great in the timeline, but muffled and distorted after exporting it. Here's the kicker, I took that same file and opened it using QuickTime 7 and the audio is fine. I took that same file and converted it to a WMV file using Flip Player, and the audio is fine. So it would seem that the problem is the newest version of QuickTime (v10.4). If any of you have come to a similar conclusion, is there a way to remedy this? It's problematic because when I upload the file to YouTube, the distortion is present. Thanks in advance to everyone who can assist with this.
    MY SYSTEM:
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM
    OSX Yosemite 10.10.2
    FCPX v10.1.4
    QuickTime v10.4

    Hi Al,
Here are the steps I use to export:
From the File menu, I select 'Share' and select 'Master File'
In the pop-up dialog box I click on 'Settings' and select 'H264' as the CODEC
I open the rendered file with QuickTime Player and the audio is distorted.
I open the rendered file with QuickTime Player 7 and the audio is fine
I convert the exported file to a WMV file using Pro version of Flip Player. The audio in the resulting file is fine.
I'm no expert but this would on the outset appear to be a problem with QuickTime v10.4.  I can't seem to find a way to resolve this. Thank you for your assistance.
FYI - the audio file for the project is pulled in to FCPX as an mp3 directly from the iTunes library via the 'Music and Sound' browser.

  • Sound distortion after virtual sound installation on Satellite A80

My sound distorts after i install virtual sound, it is driving me mad. I downloaded all the toshiba drivers.

    Hello
Usually the sound should be much better using this tool. I can really not explain why this happen. Try to reinstall sound driver.
The unit is delivered with WXP Home and I assume that you try to install your own OS, probably professional edition. All drivers and tools should work properly with WXP professional too. Please check the installation instructions that can be also downloaded from Toshiba download site (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Satellite/sa80/win-xp/install-xp-na.zip). All this stuff must be installed in particular order.

  • Sound problems after export media in premiere pro cs6

    hello,
i recently started usining premiere c6 and after exported my project to mpeg-dvd i noticed that sound quality is reasonably lost,  than exported sound  separatedly without video to wav and result was the same bad. The imported sound source was really good, recorded in studio- wav 24 bit 48000. Before i used cs3 and never had such a sound problem after export video.
    thank you very much,

It's difficult to speculate without hearing the original and the export.  Can you upload them?

  • Motion tween created not works after exporting, but works in TEST MOVIE(ctrl+enter)

I am using adobe flash cs4 and actionscript3
my project consists several different layers using classic motion tween option available in flash cs4
my project works fine when I test the movie using Ctrl+Enter
but after exporting my animation remains stationary
If any one knows how to solve this please do reply me. It will be very helpful to me
Even it is a simple setting please do reply me .
    It is very urgent.
    thank u in advance

Are you using any ActionScript at all or is it all just motion on the timeline?
If you're not using any AS then you can try to add a little to force it to play. Just add a new layer at the very top. Click on the first frame (which shoudl be a keyframe - if it's not make it one) and press F9. This will open your Actions window. In the window type "play();" (without the quotes). Not sure if that will work or not but it's worth a try!
If you are using AS make sure you don't have a stop(); action anywhere that's not being controlled.
    Good luck!

  • 8460p - sound distortion after BIOS update

After updating BIOS to v F05  experience sound distortion at random times.
    Driver reinstallation does not help

Figured out - the problem is with HP Power Assistant. This program does something periodically and this makes sound distortion once in a minute or so.
Killing the process solves the issue. But it is a workaround to listen music normally.
Is anybody from HP looking at this forum?

    Martin,
    Welcome to the forum.
For those supplemental Audio files (the ones not Exporting), what are their formats? Some users have had issues with MP3 files.
When you playback your Timeline, do you hear the Audio, from all Audio Tracks, properly?
When you playback your Timeline, with the Audio Mixer Panel open, do you see the meters behaving correctly?
Good luck, and please let us know a bit more,

  • Bizarre Sound Distortion on Export - Not Newbie Compression issue

I'm trying out the Flash CS3 demo - OSX. (Using OSX 10.4.10.)
I've got a slightly complicated timeline with about 8 layers
and some things alpha fading in and out, and a bunch of sound
samples being used as timeline sound effects (forget the term, but
attached to frames not streaming). No scripting.
The sounds are mostly too long for the amount of time
allotted to them in the timeline, and cut previous sounds off. I'm
speculating this might be a possible issue. That is, I have say a 5
second sound, which has only 3 seconds of time to play, before
another sound interrupts it in the same timeline layer.
There are two separate layers of sound playing at the same
    time.
All the original sounds are imported into the movie as
44.1/16bit AIFFs. They are mono files (might be another possible
    issue).
I'm trying to export with quality of 128k MP3. I've been
    trying different variations:
    - setting the compression for the audio files in the
Library/setting movie export settings to use Library settings
    - setting audio files in the Library to use "default
compression", and specifying the correct 128k MP3 setting in the
    export settings
    - or both of these (set individually in library, then
    overridden in export settings).
I've tried with and without the "use mono" setting (both in
Library files and export settings). (This is a question for me:
what should be the correct setting for that when the original file
    already is mono?)
Sometimes everything's great. I test or export the movie and
    the sound is fine.
Other times I test or export the movie -- with exactly the
same audio settings as the last time when it worked -- and now get
unbearably hideous hissing/cracking instead of the correct sound.
Most dangerously -- I think but haven't quite convinced
myself -- the same flash export file may sometimes play fine, and
sometimes play with the distortion. So I'm not sure if this is an
export issue, Flash player issue, or combination of export doing
something semi-weird that the player only sometimes chokes on. A
"bad" export is distorted both in the desktop Flash player that
comes with the Flash demo, and in a browser with Flash plugin 9 r45
    (OSX).
    GUH!
And this is the $800 product which is little more than a
basic text editor for scripting and an animation timeline that
hasn't gotten updated functionality since 1999.

This is a peer-to-peer public forum - if you demand
individual and undivided attention to your issue
then you can use the official adobe tech support.
As for your issue...let's go step by step:
[*The sounds are mostly too long for the amount of time
    allotted to them in the
timeline, and cut previous sounds off. I'm speculating this
    might be a possible
issue. That is, I have say a 5 second sound, which has only 3
    seconds of time
to play, before another sound interrupts it in the same
    timeline layer.*]
Is this intended? You are having an issue with 5 second
sounds being cut off after 3 seconds...why
not place them on different layers to avoid this? I don't
    understand the workflow here.
[*There are two separate layers of sound playing at the same
    time.*]
Ok - that makes more sense, so you have 2 layers both
containing sounds that cut each other off?
[*All the original sounds are imported into the movie as
    44.1/16bit AIFFs. They
are mono files (might be another possible issue).*]
Mono shouldn't matter - but the quality of the original will
matter - specifically the levels, if
the overall level is originally too high (or "hot"), then
clipping will occur once compressed from
    Flash (in some cases).
[Sometimes everything's great. I test or export the movie
    and the sound is fine.]
    Can you provide the FLA?
[Other times I test or export the movie -- with exactly the
    same audio settings
as the last time when it worked -- and now get unbearably
    hideous
hissing/cracking instead of the correct sound.]
Never heard of this before - need to see the FLA.
[And this is the $800 product which is little more than a
    basic text editor for
scripting and an animation timeline that hasn't gotten
    updated functionality
    since 1999.]
You may take exception to this but it sounds very much like
user error or something beyond Flash
(like an issue with the source audio files). Your opinion is
subjective but AS3, Flash, Flex is
hardly "little more than a text editor". True the timeline
hasn't changed much over the years but
funny that it is still the king when it comes to animation
across so many mediums - why fix what
ain't broken and works so very well for so many worldwide?

  • Sound distortion after downloading artworks

I am using the latest version of itunes 7.0.1.8
It has seemed ok, until yesterday i decided to click on get album artwork.
The artwork was downloaded fine but the noice quality immediately after and since has been awful. I can only describe it as an interferance / distortion. It is a constant sound regardless of teh beat / tone of teh music. When i use any other program to run sounds or music (windows media, audacity, windows sounds) it works fine UNLESS itunes is running. If itunes is running all noise on teh machine is unbearable.
As soon as i exit itunes, all sound is good again.
When i first upgraded to itumes 7 i had some sound qulaity issues , thyat were resolved by the latest upgrade, but this is an altogether different and more prevalent sound.

Goto the PC makers site and update your sound card/drivers
In Windows goto Control panel>Quicktime>Audio tab check "Safemode" hit OK and reboot the PC for settings to take

  • Optical sound distorted after waking up the ATV2.

    Hi!
I bought an Apple TV 2 last week but have some problems with the sound. If the Apple TV goes to sleep and is woken up, it seems like the sound from the optical out doesn't work, until I turn on my TV and select the correct HDMI input. The sound is not completely gone, but it is very distorted and/or choppy.
Turning on the TV just to play music (iPad --> AirTunes) is ridiculous. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I've installed the latest official software.
    - KNude

I forgot to mention that I'm using a converter (Digital --> Analog) so that I can use an analog RCA output connection. The converter and the cables are working fine.
According to this thread I'm not alone with my problem: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16724425#16724425

  • The audio of my video sounds strange after export

I have tried exporting my project(s) several ways since I first discovered that the audio was strange in the master file. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't sound as clear or good quality as it does in the program. Any ideas as to how I can export it in good enough quality to make it sound better? (I'm very new to Final Cut, I'm using trail version at the moment)

    Hello
    Thanks for taking care :-)
I do not any changes to the files which I export... When I import the H264.mp4 file it is described as Stereo but it show only one wave and I get only 1 channel output (left). I have put a small part of this clip to dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/xeon5g56nypuyov/Cut_1.f4v?dl=0
I send you some screenshoot of my Audio settings. I have one onbord-soundcard and one extern Audio-Interface (M-Audio Profire 610). I have tried to expoert the clip with both of them. So I send you shreenshoot of both. I relly do not understand what is going wrong in my export. With Cubase I have made many records (mono and stereo) und I never had problem to get 2 channel output,
Looking forwart to her what you can say.

  • Sound distortion after share with iTunes

I have used Garage band to record several lectures without any problems.  Over the past week, any time I share it with iTunes, I sound like a chipmunk in the play back.  I have tried converting the tracks into a new music and new podcast projects but it still does the same thing once I share it with iTunes.

the song on the iPod may not have been updated. be sure to delete the song from iTunes, update the iPod so that the song is removed, export the song from GB again, and finally resync the iPod
(an even better chocie would be to quit GB, rename the project ( http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#renameproject ), open it and export. this way you can be sure you're playing the updated file)

  • Sound distorted after updating

I have iPod Touch 4th Gen, I was running the 4.2.2 iOS or something like that as it wouldnt allow me to update.
I found a way of updating last night by editing the host file, so I went straight to iOS6.
Since updating the sound is incredibly distorted. Tested with my iPhone 4S (iOS6) and working fine.
Looked around on forums and people had the same problem when upgrading got iOS5?
Done sound check etc and hasn't fixed the problem, it is 100% the update.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Sorry.
    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
