Sound doesnt work

how do i get the sound to work on the movies and music videos????

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

When I start running a java program or leave a game running and i switch users the sound doesnt work. I have been searching around the web and nobody seems to have an answer. Most people will, eventually, have sound problems: the cause can be complex as a 'miss-behaved' app that messes the sound engine or as simple as the iPad being on Mute/Volume Down.

My Sound doesnt work.. menu makes sound but not home sharing

I can click through the menu and apple TV works..
But the sound when playing a movie through home sharing doesnt work..

Works with Quicktime.. It does play sound..
DOESNT PLAY SOUND IN ITUNES... Thats why I cant hear it on my Apple TV>..

Surround sound doesnt work with 7.1.1

Ever since I upgraded to 7.1.1 surround sound will not work only plays in front 2 speakers. Quick time preferences have channels set to 5.1....control panel sounds has speakers set to 5.1 ....all other applications (media player etc.) can use all speakers...its only iTunes that has the issue.
Really frustrating anyone have any ideas??

The four vis that you listed are a part of the traditional DAQ driver. It looks like you don't have that driver installed or that you don't have support installed. One quick way to check and see if you have the traditional DAQ driver installed is to go to LabVIEW, then pull up the functions palette. Go to NI Measurements>>Data Acquisition. If you don't have the "data acquisition" option, then either support or the driver itself isn't installed. The next step is to go to the Measurement and Automation Explorer (Start>>Programs>>National Instruments>> Measurement & Automation). On the left hand side of the window, you'll see a directory structure. Under My system, you'll see a "software" directory. Expand it. Look for something called "Traditional DAQ". If you don't have it, then you don't have the traditional DAQ driver installed and that's the problem. To install the driver go to the following web site http://search.ni.com/nisearch/nisearchservlet?nistype=default&filter=+%2BProductLine%3A41+%2BDownloa.... I'm assuming you're using WinXP. Download and install the driver. If you have hardware physically installed in the computer when you install the driver, that adds another step. You'll have to perform a repair of the driver once it's installed. You can do this by going to Start>>Settings>>Control Panel>>Add Remove Programs>>NI Software. Then select change. That should create a list of currently installed software. Select "NI-DAQmx" and then hit the repair button.
One last note. When installing the driver, make sure you select to install support for LabVIEW. You should now see the vis that you were missing in LabVIEW and therefore the program should now run.

With some app (in.es filmon) sound doesnt work.

After updated Ipad2 to v 5.01, with some app (in.es filmon) sound does'nt work.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Sound Doesnt Work At All

Well hello there,
My sound doesn't work in arch. I'm using gnome and I've install the alsa-lib and the alsa-utils and the alsamixer. I've unmuted everything in the alsamixer and they are to the max. Also, my sound card is detected. Am I missing something?

Ok I ran alsaconfig and now the little x icon in the top left of the screen is gone. ^.^ but the sound isn't working. I can play music and see them playing but no sound is coming out. I also ran /etc/rc.d/alsa start.

Satellite M40- after BIOS update sound doesnt work anymore

After i was update my Toshiba M40 (ATI) from default bios to version 1.5, my sound card (audio) was disabled...
I can't use audio - after reinstall of drivers - it's found a new hardware - but say - is broken...

I am a little bit confused with your BIOS update. I have checked the Toshiba download page and there are updates available but you must be careful which one you use.
Version 1.50 is designed for units with INTEL graphic chip and version 1.20 for units with ATI graphic chip. If I am understood you right you have updated INTEL BIOS version on your ATI unit. Am I right?

Whats wrong- automatic restart, now sound doesnt work

Yesterday evening, i opened my laptop and opened itunes, clicked on a song and no sound, thought i reduced the volume but no it was full.. clicked on another song, then a avi file.. nothing... whats going on? I restarted it, sound's back... then i laid the laptop on the table and the computer restarted.. now what? is there something wrong with my harddrive?

Just a guess, but if your wireless network is not appearing in Windows, it's probably a result of a Windows firewall setting.
An Apple AirPort Base Station just creates a wireless network, like any other. There is nothing different about it than any other wireless network, so it should be available to select from Windows. It has been a while since I've used XP but I am quite certain no additional drivers need to be installed for XP to communicate with a Mac's wireless hardware.
You might try asking in the Boot Camp discussions area.

After Service Pack 2 update sound stopped working

Recently started again with my Satellite laptop. All was good and everything worked perfectly until i download Service pack 2. Ever since doing that the audio has stopped working.
I'm a bit novice but have tried the following:
I uninstalled the driver and downloaded the appropriate drivers from the Realtek website. reinstalled but still get the same problem. no error messages but just "Driver is enabled but has not been started" in the properties screen for the sound and device properties.
Can anyone offer a solution?

Youre right. I have read that on some notebooks the sound doesnt work after XP SP2 installation.
But the update instillation should help.
