64bit OS became mainstream after vista came in,earlier the CPU manufacturers introduced 64bit architectures to ensure that future Operating systems will run on them. You can still use a 32 bit app on a 64 bit version of Vista or Windows 7 though. If you have any such need to run an app for XP install Win7 6bit and use the older on it,should run fine..

  • Tecra 9100: Yamaha sound driver issue

    H
Ive just formatted my hdd and installed WinXP Pro.
Ive installed all latest drivers but Im having trouble with one; sound driver for the yamaha ac device.
I keep getting the yellow mark next to it.
So I have tried uninstalling it but when I reinstall it I get cannot start code 10.
Its the latest driver so I dont know whats causing the problem.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject, thanks rob

    Hi
The issue is known to me.
The sound driver is simply not compatible with the Win XP SP2
The Yamaha AC-XG driver uses PortCls function for checking the operatingsystem version. XP Service Pack 1, PortCls function is changed, then the Yamaha driver cannot get operatingsystem version correctly. This issue also happens Windows XP SP2.
    Yamaha already provides the fixed driver. The fixed driver version is the following;
    yacxg.sys 6.13.10.2152 with software synthesizer
    yacxgc.sys 6.13.10.3152 without software synthesizer

  • Dv7-1264nr sound driver issue for using directtc2pc

I just installed directtv2pc and am unable to use it to view video on demand dowloads on the dvr. The error message I receive says the video's audio is protected content and to please update my sound driver. Researching the direct tv forums shows that I need a sound driver that is hdcp compliant. However the latest driver available on the download list for this model is the one that is currently installed on this pc. Does anyone have any idea on an optional driver I can use?

Just got off the online support line with HP.  They have resolved my issue.  I had to disable the docking audio driver.  Here is the info:
TECH : Larry, right click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select playback.
TECH : It will open the sound properties window.
TECH : Let me know when you are in the sound properties window.

  • Sound Driver Issues on Windows xp 64 bit

Lately I've been working in a dualboot setup with the Lenovo N200 0769 AUU and running Windows 7 64 Bit and Windows xp 64 Bit. To my surprise, Windows 7 grabbed many drivers for the various hardware from the internet, but Windows xp did not fare as well (I couldn't even boot the setup disc without "Slipstreaming" some SATA Hard Drive drivers). At this point I've pieced together from various sources everything but the sound. The Display works - kind of; When I look in the Device manager, I seee two items under "Display Adapters" - "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and "Video Controller", both of which have little yellow exclamation points next to them. Every time I boot it says "Found New Hardware" and names the correct graphics chip, and I tell it where to find the drivers, it goes through the little "copying" thing all right, but says "Failed" on the very last screen.
The sound drivers are something else. It is currently identified as "Audio Device on high definition audio bus" under "Sound, video and Game controllers" with a little Yellow exclamation point next to it as well. Says "Code 28 - The Drivers are not installed". This is where things get downright weird. You can click "update driver" under the drivers tab, but nothing happens. Nothing at all. Nothing comes up asking where to look for to find the drivers. I've tried pushing "uninstall", but it just gives me this crap: "Failed to uninstall device. The Device May be required to boot up the computer".
These are becoming serious problems, so if anyone has any advice, that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Dv7-1270us Sound driver issues

I just purchased my Dv7 1270 and I upgraded to Vista Ultimate.
There are no drivers on the sight for the 1270, so I found the IDT drivers from another to try them as well.
The problem is, there is 3 speakers on this laptop, and only the top 2 are working, nothing is detecting them.
    What is wrong?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I managed to get mine working using the DV5-100us Drivers. The insides are virtually indentical to our laptop. The 3rd speaker on the bottom is kinda boring and blah, you never notice it when its working.
Only issue i have left to fix now is the mute key. I see they put up some new drivers on the sight, but none are sound drivers.
Go get hooked up with the DV5-100us drivers and you'll be good to go.

  • Macbook sound driver issues

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble playing sound through the computer's built-in speakers. When I open System Preferences, the sound output box reads "Digital Output" only, when I understand that there should be an Analog Output option there as well. But whenever I plug in some headphones into the audio out jack, or even a USB headset, the sound plays through fine.
I've updated my version of Mac OS X to 10.5.7 in the hopes that this was a software problem, but I realised it's actually a hardware problem. Does anyone have and remedies for this?

It is a hardware problem. You might solve it by putting a non conductive stick in the audio jack and pressing it and wiggling it and holding your mouth just right to free the stuck switch. It works for some people. If you take it to Apple and they can't fix it the way I just described they will replace your logic board in all likely hood.

    Hi,
Before Conexant Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) here
Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers here
This will create a swsetup folder in c drive ("C:\swsetup\sp34200")
Installing Audio drivers may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
    Open the Device Manager:
    1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
    2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
    3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
    4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
    5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
    6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
    7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

  • Tecra 9000: After SP2 installation the Yamaha sound driver does not work

    Hi,
    I own a Tecra 9000, with a Yamaha AC-XG sound card.
The problem is that since I installed Windows XP with SP2 included, I lost my sound.
I know also that Toshiba is aware of this situation and they have managed to post a solution for it. I've tried this solution:
    Detail:
The Yamaha AC-XG driver uses PortCls function for checking the operatingsystem version. XP Service Pack 1, PortCls function is changed, then the Yamaha driver cannot get operatingsystem version correctly. The operatingsystem provides the version for Windows 95. Therefore the Operatingsystem has a blue screen. Therefore Microsoft added the workaround and illegal drivers are blocked from working on SP1. This issue also happens Windows XP SP2.
    Yamaha already provides the fixed drvier to Toshiba. The fixed driver version is the following;
    yacxg.sys 6.13.10.2152 with software synthesizer
    yacxgc.sys 6.13.10.3152 without software synthesizer
    How to fix this issue:
Install the fixed driver on a system before/after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2.
    Install steps:
    (1) Unzip an attached file on your hard disk.
    (2) Run SETUP.EXE
    (3) Click the Next button.
    (4) Choose "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish.
A toshiba engineer told me that first of all I needed to install the old driver "5.12.01.3141", and it worked out ok, but still no sound.
And then he told me to install the version "6.13.10.2152", but this went wrong. I've got the error message "Driver was not installed".
I already tried lots of different drivers, including generic and yamaha drivers.
Please tell me a good solution for this issue if possible.
    Thank you very much,
    Hugo

    Hi Hugo
It seems today is your lucky day ;)
Thanks to Toshiba because the Toshiba computer knowledge base is a really useful area and I have found many useful document and solutions!!!
I found also a solution for your tiny issue ;)
As you said the problem is the Microsoft service pack 2. The sound driver makes some troubles after the installation of SP1 or SP2 and therefore the update is necessary!!!
    Please take a look here:
Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Service Pack 2 incompatible with existing Yamaha sound driver

so some time ago i messed up the sound badly and now i'm clueless on what to do. i have alsa, oss and pulseaudio (re-re-re-re-re)installed (i know i shouldn't). i'm a total noob when it comes to the audio department so i can't really add way too much to it.
audacious drops the following when i try to play something:
ALSA error: snd_pcm_open failed: Invalid argument.
there is audio, however (some games/web) if i pulseaudio --start.
pls ask for outputs to give you the necessary info

did you have working audio before you did something that messed it up?
alsa is pretty much all you need for working audio. You could run pulseaudio on top of it if you want, but usually it doesn't benefit you in any way unless you have some specific issues with alsa, like audio only playing from one application at the time.
You can safely remove everything OSS related, unless you actually want to configure your system to use OSS for some reason.
If you want to revert to default your alsa configuration you could just remove your ~/.asoundrc and /etc/asound.conf if you have modified those files. If you want to use pulseaudio, reinstall pulseaudio-alsa to revert /etc/asound.conf configuration so that your alsa-only applications work with pulse.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - cannot install sound driver

    Hi
I have a Satellite Pro M30 which usaed to work fine but I can no longer install sound card drivers on it.
I THINK it has happened since we reinstalled windows XP Pro with SP2 but can not be certain.
It is trying to install the Sigmatel AVC97 drivers and comes up with the following error.
Invalid operating system parameter or this installer does not support this operating system
Any suggestions as there seems to be only one sound driver for the SPM30 family.

Nobody here have got a problems with sound driver installation just you
So is this not strange for you???
Either you did something wrong or its your windows XP issue.
Please note that the Toshiba driver page provides also the Installation Instructions
There you can find the right installation order!
Install your OS again and follow this instruction in this doc!

Only when you will do this download:

Unzip to a folder..use Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver,
    No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
    Ignore XP when it complains.
    Reboot.

  • Problem logging off windows 7 on AD domain - Sound Card issue New model iMac 2011

I am looking for help for a strange problem we have on our new 21.5inch iMac computers (mid-2011 model), Our whole IT team have worked for a week to find solutions and we have exhausted all of our ideas. Please note we have an identical setup on our old mid-2010 model iMacs, which experience NONE of the same problems, windows logon and log offs are quick and painless. We have conducted side by side identical tests, so this forces us to assume it is a hardware/driver issue.
Basically our iMacs have BootCamp installed with Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 is our default operating system. We have joined these computers to our Active Directory Domain and the users are all roaming with redirected folders.
The issue is the following: When a domain user logs off, it can take up to 25 minutes for the User Profile Session to finally log off and return to the normal Ctrl-Alt-Del menu, the next user who logs on usually is just left hanging and with no ability to logon. After a hard-restart the system logs on normally, but then can experience same problems at logoff.
We see the issue when the user watches lots of Flash Player videos on a browser such as Firefox and Chrome, although we've seen the same problem when other applications are used on the computer such as Windows Live Movie Maker.
So far we have found only one solution: If we disable the Cirrus Logic Audio Driver CS4206A (AB 9), and High Definition Audio Driver from the Sound, Video and Game Controllers within Device Manager and restart the computer, the system behaves normally, logon and log off times are a few seconds. But naturally we have no sound which is unacceptable.
We have tried everything we can think of including: Fresh installs of both OS, full updates of OS's, Firmware and Software, Manually updating sound drivers, changing users and AD Domains and attempts to force stop all services on logout etc.
We would appreciate any and all help to get to the bottom of this, including advice on what to try next.
    Regards,
    IT Project Manager

Just wanted to feedback on this and say our solution was the following:
Download and installed Universal Driver Pack within Win 7 , which included a AMD High Definition Audio Driver and replaced the High Definition Audio Driver Installed.
I have also informed Apple and Microsoft of this issue, hopefully someone will take some notice and update the driver.

Hi , I suhail khan from india and i am user of iMac system 10,1.These days i am facing the sound enabling issue with my iMac system I am not able to hear sound in my iMac system. So kindly suggest me how to enable sound in my iMac . Please no the needful.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. If you've recently plugged anything into the audio-out (headphone) port, plug and unplug it a couple of times.
    2. From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Sound ▹ Output
Check the settings. The internal speakers should be selected as the output device, the Mute box should not be checked, and the volume slider should be at least halfway to the right.
    3. Look inside the headphone port. If a red light is coming from the port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a headphone mini-stereo jack of the proper size.Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
    4. Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. It will take much longer than usual. You don't have to log in; just reboot as usual (without holding any keys) when the login screen appears. (Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.)
    5. Reset the NVRAM.
    6. Reset the SMC.
    7. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data as a precaution. You won't need your backup unless something goes wrong.
    8. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
