Sound echo in Quicktime 10.1

Hi,
I just received a video from a supplier. Here's the information:
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 1 920 x 1 080 (1 888 x 1 062)
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 1 920 x 1 080 (1 888 x 1 062)
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 1 920 x 1 080 (1 888 x 1 062)
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 1 920 x 1 080 (1 888 x 1 062)
PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz
PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz
The stereo sound is on two tracks.
The sound is playing with an echo in Quicktime 10.1 but is fine in NicePlayer. VLC lag with ProRes too much to test.
Anyone knows why Quicktime had this echo problem?
Thanks ofr help

I noticed I have the same problem too (sometimes) if a movie has two audio tracks. Quicktime acts as if its playing both stereo and surround at the same time.
If you go to the Quicktime Menu > View > Languages , then select one of the audio tracks, the echo will go away.

  • Received sound echos

I-Phone 5 echos and loses volume when talking on the phone.  People are always complaining that the sound echos, is distorted or too quiet.  I eventually removed the cover and fear for the unprotected phone, but most people can make out what I am saying a little better than before.  I have updated and restarted it.  Is there a solution short of replacing it to the poor quality sound?

  • Quicktime With Sound Echo

    Forum,
Today I reinstalled my OS and FCS2. When I play Quicktime videos the video starts fine, until about three seconds later when the audio for the video starts again a second time creating an echo - truly annoying and not useful.
Does anybody know what might be going on?

  • No sound in some quicktime clips

I had a couple little clips I made, and some little clips I downloaded. They used to have sound and now there is nothing. I tried to download some little trailers and still nothing. Do I now have to buy quicktime 7 to get some sound on these. The sound on my movies in imovie are still just fine........

Matti, I did do that. But as I was on my way to bed last night I thought of something. I thought how stupid I must be cause it was probably just the power strip on the computer that controls a few things. One of which of course is the sound. So I went to bed thinking I had a blonde moment. When I got up I confirmed it that I really was that stupid. Turned the power strip on and "sound". I suppose I had at least one moment of thought in this head to at least figure out what it might be.............jillybean

  • Lost sound when convert Quicktime video to ipod video

    Hi,
when I use iTune to conveert a video file from quicktime (or others) to ipod/iphone video file I lost the sound!
    I'll appreciate any help!
    Thanks!

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.

  • Sound Codec for Quicktime

Hi there, no-one seems to be able to help me from those I have spoken to about this; can someone here proove me wrong?
I have Quicktime movie files where the picture is perfect but there is no sound whatsoever!
A window pops up to tell me necessary software is missing but have no clue as to what software or codec I nedd; could someone please help me at all?
    Many thanks,
    Stevie x.

Installed these and nothing has changed and all seems the same. What would you suggest I try next?I would suggest trying to play the file(s) with VLC and/or MPEG Streamclip. If they load/play there you will have some idea as to "commonality" of the audio. AVI containers can, for instance, use a number of exotic or "custom" audio and video combinations not commonly found on/compatible with QT -- e.g., AC3, MPEG-1/layer-3, or VBR audio. If they can play the audio then see if the audio is better identified here. Remember, QT is basically a "frame-to-frame" synchronization application, so it only partially supports interlaced streams or interleafed track formats if at all. It was not designed as a hybrid application for all forms of multimedia playback. Some windows codecs have never been ported for Mac use. Others are so old that they can only be used with Classic/OS 9 Mac systems. Of those codecs which are compatible with OS X, some are not compatible with Intel models and have yet to become available in universal binary format. While QT files tend to adhere to very strict format standards, Windows media frequently does not. That is why it is so important to properly identify the specific file containers and codecs in use and be a bit circumspect when downloading multimedia files and/or installing codecs to try and support them all.

  • Export Errors - sound echo and sound stoppage

Hi everyone - I have a bit of an urgent need for help. When I
preview my slides as a "movie" or export them to HTML, I am faced
with two errors: at one minute into the script, the sound acquires
an echo and remains for the rest of the slides. The other issue is
that the audio simply cuts off after about 2 minutes. I experienced
these issues separately when performing the same export and preview
    as movie functions.
The confusing part is that when I preview individual slides,
neither of the problems are present. So, it is likely that there is
a problem in the export/preview functions. Can anyone help out?
    Thanks!

Hello dcdave and welcome to our community.
I am very sorry to hear that you have experienced audio
problems with Adobe Captivate. In this first instance I would
suggest that you try exporting the audio using the Advanced Audio
Editor (Audio > Advanced Audio...) and playing the audio in the
built-in audio recorder Sound Recorder. If you don't experience any
problems playing the audio file here then back in Captivate, delete
the audio file from the Slide (again you can do this using the
Advanced Audio Editor) and then import the WAV file back onto your
    slide.
With regard to the audio stopping, I have seen this numerous
times. Sometimes you can stop this from occurring by simply
selecting the audio object on the Timeline moving to the 0.0 marker
and then back to it's original position. If that doesn't solve the
probem then try deleting it from Timeline and importing the WAV
    file again.
Note: You might also want to make sure that the audio file
has been removed from the Library panel, if not then delete it here
    as well.
Lastly, whilst you are not experiencing any duplications at
runtime (when you preview) the most common cause for duplications
is when you have inserted the audio to the slide and also another
object such as a text caption. You can check this by showing the
Advanced Audio Editor and choosing the option
    Show object level audio.
    Regards - Mark

  • Add sound to a quicktime screen recording

How do I go about doing this? And can I choose between the sound that is internal and external to the computer (i.e. selecting to use my voice instead of internet or computer audio)?

You already have good suggestions for changing the audio source during recording.
If you mean how to add or change sound to a screen recording that already has been made,
you can import the clip into iMovie and do it it there.
Rather than import to iMovie, I use QuickTime Pro on simple projects:

  • No sound with my QuickTime

I am so frustrated with QuickTime. No sound and I've tried the check the box thing. What do I need to do to get the sound to work? Apple needs to step up and fix this problem.
    Someone help. Please.

I had the same problem after converting some home movies to ipod format. I purchased the QuickTime Pro upgrade key... 30 **** bucks. Video quality looks great but no good use since there is no sound. I so want a refund but I thought I was the only one with the problem. I found a better program and guess what FREE (for files less than 5 minutes long....Great for home clips.) Its called ImToo Ipod movie converter. Works great and it ***** thats I had to pay for something I cant use. Maybe if they get enough complaints we get a refund or at least our money's worth.

  • No sound from my quicktime player

While using quicktime player to watch movies I am able to view the movies fine. However I am unable to hear the sound. Also When I play .AVI movies same result. Excellent video zero sound. Can someone assist me in this matter. I have done the basic trouble shooting of checking the audio level both in quicktime and on my Mac. Thanks.

You need to download and install these plug-ins:
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.

  • Is it possible to add Surround Sound to a quicktime movie?

We've just finished the color correction on a movie we've been working on.
The video is in the Apple Pro Res 422 HQ format with a stereo mix attached.
We also have a 5.1 surround sound mix. (exported as wav print masters)
The problem is we aren't going to layback to tape for another week or so and we've got a
screening scheduled for Tomorrow night in a small theatre with an HD projector.
Is there a way to encode 5.1 to the quicktime file or are
we stuck with our stereo mix for this first screening?
    Thanks so much.

I'm not sure what the system is. The screening is being held in a facility that specializes in
post-production sound. (They were the ones who mixed the film)
They have an HD projector (not sure what type) that they use for mixing.
My plan is to have a copy of the movie in Apple Pro Res 422 HQ (1920X1080)
and also compress a back-up version in H.264 in case the system can't handle the bit rate of Pro Res
Technically they should have the ability to open up the Pro Tools session that they used to mix the film and run that audio with picture... but there's a chance the tech people won't be at the screening
leaving me with the owners who aren't as good with the machines.
I was hoping to make it as easy as possible. The stereo mix is already on the pro res file.
Is there a way to add the 5.1?

  • Sound Echos

How do i keep my sound from echoing?
    i use the ge-forece fx 5200 128 mb
My sound started to echo once i deleated my C:/Windows/Media folder and then made a new one replacing it with .wavs from my win98. I did this because i had some weird programs in there. All of them looked like a cat icon. I thought they were a virus so i deleated them. I also deleated 2 programs called hello-kitty and cheeseburger from my C:/Windows. They all had the same kitty icon. After that my sound just echos. All of the programs with the cat icon, had the same kb size of 44kb or something like that. i think they might of came from Kazaa Lite.
If you guys have any suggestions plz reply.

I'm not real sure how you figure that sound and video are related here...sound is generated via onboard sound chip or a PCI sound card installed into the motherboard. The Video card is either a separate onboard chip or an AGP card installed into the motherboard. Both are entirely separate.
You've also given us little to nothing to go on here because you fail to tell us what components are installed in your system, other than your video card which has nothing to do with sound or whether it's using a PCI sound card or onboard sound...pretty much a shot in the dark here for the suggestion I'm about to give you...
You should probly be reinstalling the motherboard drivers that came with your system to reinstall the audio driver that drives the onboard sound...if you're using a PCI sound card then I would go to their website, download and install their current driver. This should return your sound to normal.

  • No sound after using quicktime pro???

I converted a video and added it to itunes but it played with no sound. Please help i bet there is a stuipid mistake im making here im pretty mad that i just spent 30 dollars on quicktime pro only to have problems.

This is normal if your source file is a "muxed" audio/video data stream. Use an MPEG based converter for these type files.

  • Echos in QuickTime audio file when I play a page in Keynote.

I have a project that was created in Excel, placed into a PC Powerpoint program, and then sent to me, whereupon I placed it into my new Keynote program. I had earlier trouble getting the screen to stay open until the video was finished, so I decided to just get by with audio clips.
I made one audio clip with QuickTime as practice. I saved the QuickTime movie. I placed that icon onto the Keynote page. Then I heard echoes of about 2, maybe 3 voices speaking and music which I thought I had deleted I swept the page for invisible audio files but found nothing.
How can I take away the echo?
