Sound effects don't work

I am using iPad 2. It all works fine except for one thing. I have lost all sound effects. I can watch a YouTube clip and there is sound? however any sound involved in the running of the iPad or any apps does not work. I have tried many things but to no avail.
The keyboard doesn't click, there is no locking sound when I close the cover or charge the iPad. I read lots of Zinio magazines and ones like the national geographic are interactive with sound. There is no sound on Zinio anymore. The alarm clock does work and the alarm sounds. So I am most confused. Why do some things have sound and not others.
I hope someone can help. It has been like this for awhile. I have just updated to iOS 7 but the problem still exists. Any suggestions to try would be appreciated. I have tried rebooting. I have an idea that this problem has only happened since the revamp on the iPad interface with the previous upgrade.

Well I don't believe it. I have solved my own problem after months of having it. I had the side button selected to mute. I was still able to change the volume so figured that this is what it was for. I changed the side button to lock orientation. However it still works as a volume button and I now have all my sound effects back. I am confused as to why it works like this but the fact that I now have the sound I want I am happy regardless.
I will leave this post in case it helps someone else.

Effects Don't work with Ray-Traced 3D?

Hello,
I'm working on a 3D logo for a company, and I'm trying to snaz what I have done with some effects, but the effects don't work. For example, I tried adding the CC Light Wipe Effect, but it will only show up when I switch back to the classic 3D renderer. Google searches aren't exaclty effective when I my serach quiere has "Effects" and After Effects" in it, so I'm forced to come here looking for the answer.
Are effects supported in this new renderer? If so, how do I get them to work?

Pre-composing and then switching off Ray-traced rendering in the main comp gives you the ability to apply effects to the pre-comp. This may or may not work for your situation.
Another option is to pre-render your Ray-traced work and then apply effects to the footage. There's almost always something you can do if you think about it for a while.
Still another option is to put a 2D adjustment layer above your 3D Ray-traced layer and apply the effect there.

My sound effects aren't working, how do I get them to work again?

On my iPad my sounds effects aren't working and it's on loud. I've been into music but it won't let me change the volume. It's just dark grey and won't let me touch it. Also the volume control on the side when I put it onto loud the sound effect pops up in the grey box but doesn't let me change the volume there either... I've also been through the settings and cannot find anything or anywhere where it will let me change the volume manually or invade it had been turned off by accident. I can't listen to music or hear when it goes off!!!
PLEASE HELP!

Is it still paired to a bluetooth device?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. If you're not hearing sound from your iPad, the steps in this article can help:

Even though the article references the iPhone, the steps can help an iPad, too:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPad is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPad is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPad is updated to the latest version of iOS.

Ken Burns Effects Don't Work in iMovie HD (I've Tried Everything)

Version:
OS X 10.4.10
iMovie 6
*Hardware 1:*
PowerMac G4 Dual 500 Mhz, 1GB RAM, Internal 40GB HDD and Internal 320 GB HDD
*Hardware 2:*
PowerBook G4 500 Mhz, 512MB RAM, Internal 20 GB HDD
Problem:
This problem occurs on both of my G4 Macs. In iMovie HD, I imported a JPEG from iPhoto with Ken Burns Effects on. The still photo appeared properly in the Clip Viewer initially, but appeared as a black screen in the iMovie Monitor. Once the imported photo with the Ken Burns Effects completed rendering, the clip in the Clip Viewer turned white and appeared as a white screen in the iMovie Monitor. I have tried almost everything I read about in these forums in search of a resolution.
*Resolutions that Failed:*
1. The photo is definitely a .jpg
2. Tried importing the actual .jpg file as well as importing from iPhoto.
3. QuickTime and all other Software updates have been applied and are running on the most current release.
4. Repaired disk permissions.
5. Created, saved and manipulated the iMovie file in the standard Movie Folder on my main internal hard drive. (i.e. – I'm not saving to an external HDD)
6. Created, saved and manipulated the iMovie file in the standard Movie Folder on my secondary internal hard drive. (i.e. – I'm not saving to an external HDD)
7. Deleted the 'mac.imovie.plist' file and created a new one.
8. Attempted to do apply the effects logged on as a different user.
9. Saved file, restarted machine and reopened numerous times but the problem persists.
10. Tried a lower resolution photo and the problem persists.
11. Attempted to import all the photos I planned to use, added transitions to all of the clips and rendered completely. Saved the file, restarted the machine and reopened the file with no change to the blank clips.
12. The iMovie trash emptying issue did nothing to help.
*Additional Notes:*
1. The problem is confined to the Ken Burns Effects in iMovie. I am able to work with true video clips without incident.
2. Ken Burns Effects operate properly in iPhoto 6 using the slideshow functionality.
3. I would use iPhoto, but it seems like it would be easier to line up specific sections of an audio track with certain Ken Burns Effects in iMovie. (i.e. – a crescendo at the 16 second mark of the audio track coincides with the end of a 'zoom' on a photo, transition from second 16-17 second mark, new photo at the 17 second mark and pan left to right from 17 second mark to the 25 second mark.) Point is that it lines up precisely with the markers on the audio track, which seems far easier to do in iMovie than iPhoto.
4. Please help me, I'm going nuts troubleshooting this bug! I can't find any resolution that works.

Some thoughts that have occurred to me:
1. Perhaps your G4 500mhz Mac is not fast enough. I think that the minimum spec for iLife '06 is 733mhz. Might have nothing to do with this problem, but I just mention it.
2. Are the sizes of your images too large, as can happen with some of these new high def cameras? iMovie has trouble working with very large images.
3. Do you have any 3rd pary plug-ins, particularly in Quick Time, that could be causing a conflict?
4. Do you have enough disk space for the project to operate?
5. Have you done a recent Quick Time update? Some users have reported a problem with that.
6. From your post, it appears that you have continuously worked within the same iMovie file that exhibits the Ken Burns problem. If this is true, try creating a new iMovie project and experimenting with a few clips to see if the problem persists in the new project.
Ken Burns issues can be very frustrating. I think that you will need to keep trying things until something works. Wish I could be more help, but perhaps some of the tech experts on this forum will have some workable suggestions.
There is an application called Photo to Movie that reputedly has a far better Ken Burns type of effect. If you can't resolve your problem, you might try downloading that app. I believe that it offers a demo download.

Effects don't work after rendering

I am new to FCP but I imported all my video and have completed most of my editing sucessfully, however, when I started adding transitions ( fade in/out) everything looked great until I rendered it. The final effect is a super fast fade out and in followed by a few black frames then the video goes back to normal. I've searched through all my manuals and no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds as though you have gaps between the clips as well as not enough handles for the transition.
1. Turn on Snapping (keystroke N) in the time line to make sure the clips snap to each other (touch) when you place them.
2. You need enough handles (extra footage) at the beginning and end of the clip so the transition has enough to work with.

Creative EAX Console audio effects don't work like before

My audio effects on my eax console used to make a bigger difference. ?I used to use Concert Hall and the reverb effect was much greater just until recently when I downloaded some upgrades creative said i needed. ?I have tried to edit the audio effect individually except there is no edit button like the "help" menus suggests me to use. ?wtf

Spry Effects don't work in IE

Greetings:
Is there a way to use multiple fade effects in IE for the
menu widget? Currently, what's happening is that when I add the
fade effect to the parent div to the menu, the child node does not
want to expand to its third child in IE.
However, it does work in all of the other browsers.
I laboriously created a huge xml menu using the spry widget,
and then added the "fade" affect to it. It worked in all browsers
as intended BUT in Internet explorer.

Surround Sound speakers don't work with ITUNES 7

My surround sound speakers have worked with my computer since I got them and still are working. However, when I upgraded to ITUNEs 7 suddenly only the front speakers work, this only happens on ITUNEs and nothing else. What is going on and how can I fix it?

I have surround sound speakers and mine are working fine with iTunes 7. Now, I don't want to state the obvious, but my surround sound speakers have a bass box attached and the leads go into the back and sometimes they come loose. You've probably already checked this but I thought it worth a a mention.

Sound Preferences don't work

I recently had my hard drive replaced by Apple Care due to a crash. I received my MAC and it's running MAC OS 10.4.9.
All of my sound alerts are not happening. I tried resetting my sound preferences and it doesn't work. I ran Disk Utility and repaired permissions.
Does anyone know of any other things I should try to fix this?
