Sound effects icon

when I turn on my iPad the sound effects icon appears.  It didn't use to.  What can I do to remedy this?

Have you tried restarting your iPad, hold both the Home and Power buttons down until the apple logo appears and restarts your iPad?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off".

I have the sound effects icon in the middle of my screen and I want it to go away! How do I get rid of  it?

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that fixes it.

  • Sound effects icon will not go away

Sound effect icon will not go away. It is in the middle of the screen. Tried changing the sound setting no luck.

I also am having issues with the "sound effects icon" on my iPad.  I took it to an Apple store and was told there was a dent in the side by the sound button.  Is this a common problem?  Haven't dropped the iPad so don't know what has caused this.  Apple said $269 to repair.  Got the iPad at Christmas as a gift.

  • Sound Effects Icon Keeps popping up!

Again I need help... Basically I DO NOT WANT TO BUY A NEW IPOD I woul please like to know how to fix my ipod when the sound effects icon keeps popping up. It will turn the volume all the way up, I try to turn it down but it just goes back up! (yes the reason its like this is because of water damage). Anyways please tell me how to fix it without having to replace my ipod.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Tilting, Volume Buttons and Sound Effects icon problem.

Every time I tilt my iPad while using it on a flat surface the volume button is contacted and the Sound Effects icon appears.  This is a very poor design in my opinion.  It drives me crazy!!  Any workarounds?

knothead997cdp - I know that with the iPhone, they say there is an app for everything, but causing you headaches isn't one of them! Judging from the multiple issues you are describing, the master reset is definitely the best course of action to take. You may always stop by at your closest Apple Store for a second opinion. In all honesty, it just sounds like the update went corrupt somewhere. Starting clean should take care of it!
Let us know how it goes. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!
    Thank you knothead997cdp, take care!

  • The sound effects icon is staying on the screen. How do I get this to go away

The sound effects icon is staying on my ipad. How do I get this to go away?
    Thanks for the help.
Have A blessed and Wonderful Day!!!!!!!

If the sound icon is stuck on the screen, then the pad thinks you are pressing the volume rocker on the side of the pad.   Do you have a case or something that might be touching that rocker?
Some have reported that they have put a small dent in the pad body that presses the switch.  If so, you need to somehow indent it.
Try a reboot.  Press and hold both the home and sleep button until the apple logo appears.  Ignore the red slider.

  • Sound Effects DURING Slide Transitions?

Essentially, is there a way to add a sound clip to play between slides, during the transition?
I'm creating a Keynote presentation that will be exported into Quicktime with hyperlink-activated transitions, and would like a specific sound to play during the 'Magic Move' transition. When the sound is imported into the first slide, once the transition begins, it fades out and stops. Yet if I drag and drop the sound file between the slides, it just creates a blank slide with the sound effect icon in the middle.
    Any ideas?

Nope, unless you have a soundtrack on your show, there's no other way to have sound during a transition.

  • Tried reset, taking off case, no Bluetooth but sound effects keeps appearing in middle of screen. If I turn down volume it goes away but then comes back. Sometimes immediately. Sometimes in 5 minutes. Am not touching anything on side of iPad at the time

Cannot get sound effects icon to stop coming on.   When I turn down the volume, the icon goes off briefly and then it comes back on at full volume and stays in the middle of the screen, until I click the volume down again.  Doesn't help to reset, the case is not on and it still does this. Most annoying.

    Tried any basic troubleshooting steps?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.

  • Sound effects no longer play in Rosetta emulation games

While sorting out the data transferred from my recently deceased Powerbook G4 17", I accidently started up Audacity 1.2.3 which is a Power PC only version. It only partially loaded with its icon in the Dock but nothing else. I had to force quit the program to get rid of it and then deleted it. When my teenage son went to play his suite of PPC games such as Age of Empires 2 and StarWars after that, the game sound effects no longer worked. The background music still plays, but all the player responsive sound effects will not play, even though the settings to play them are correct.
I am wondering if the opening up and crashing of the Power PC Audacity may have stuffed up something in the Rosetta emulation system software relating to the sound output of emulated games. Before I consider doing a full backup and reinstall, does anyone who is a regular gamer playing PPC games on a Macbook Pro have any ideas on how to fix this problem. I was wondering if the Rosetta component of OSX can be replaced from a working system or if it is totally integrated into the Mac OS unlike Classic was.
    All advice appreciated!

+I tried to set "Problem solved" but got an error so will try again later.+
Thanks for trying and glad it fixed the problem

  • The sound effects volume is all the way down. It pops on for a second, then disappears. I can't find it in settings.   How do I get the sound back?

The sound effects volume is all the way down.  It pops up for a second once in awhile and then disappears. I can't find it in the Setting.  Music sound plays fine, but no sound on my apps.  Any idea how to fix it?

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
