Sound file for isight

Hi there,
I'm currently producing a training webinar, filming with iSight in imovie '09. The submission requirements for the webinar are (this is for Create Space for Instant video on Amazon, if that is helpful):
Your source copy must contain only AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders in the root directory of the disc.
In order to maximize playback compatibility, we recommend a maximum total bit rate for the combined video and audio tracks of 6.5 Mbp/s (megabits per second).
We recommend using Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio; however PCM and DTS audio are also supported.
I'm a video and audio novice, and have not been able to determine if filming with iSight is going to meet these requirements. Can anyone help point me to how to figure this out?
MUCH appreciated!

these are specs for a videoDVD.
you need tools like iDVD, Roxio Toast, etc to 'author' such a structure.
iMovie is just a video-editor, doesn't create 'disks'.

  • How Can I export Sound Files for Sound mixing?

    Can someone please explain me the process of exprting sound sound files for the Sound Mixer & Composer? How do I deliver it to them?

    Welcome to the forum.
    First, what version of PrE are you using, and then, on what OS version?
    In general (specifics can come, with the above info), one would Share/Publish+Share (or Export in older versions) the Timeline as an intermediate Audio-only file. That would be Imported, or Opened in the audio-editor program.
    In PrE 11, or 12, one would go to Publish+Share, and then Computer. There, they would scroll down the list, to Audio. Note: the scroll bars are not easy to see, but easy to miss. Look to the far right of the Panel. With Audio selected, choose PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit. That will get you the best file to edit further with your DAW. When that editing is complete, use PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, then Import the resultant edited Audio file into the PrE Project, placing it on an empty Audio Track, say Audio 2, or 3. To maintain its position, I would place the CTI (Current Time Indicator) at exactly the point that you want that edited Audio file to be, perhaps at the start of the Timeline. Then, with Snap turned ON, the edited Audio file should snap to the CTI.
    When it is in place, you can Delete the other Audio (that which you exported for additional editing), or just go to the Audio Mixer, and check Mute for any Tracks, that contain that original material.
    Hope that helps, and if you can let us know a bit more, then someone can step you through any "gray areas," for your specific version.
    Good luck,

  • What's the best solution for audio out of sound files from a MacBook Air to both an amplifier and to a subwoofer amplifier? I'm using the MBA to play sound files for worship services at our church.

    I have a MacBook Air (13", 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD) that I'll be using to play sound files (primarily organ and piano) for worship services at my church. We'll be using a QSC RMX2450 650 Watts/Channel amplifier with Community CPL-27 speakers and also a JBL SUB 250P powered subwoofer with its own amplifier. What's the best option for getting sound out from the Mac to both of these amplifiers?

    if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
    i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...
    so again, i hope you have some ideas now

  • Including audio sound file for PDF on iPad / iPhone

    Using Acrobat Pro XI I have a Page Open action that plays a sound when the PDF is opened. The sound plays when opening the PDF on my laptop, but not when viewing on iPad or iPhone. Does anyone know how to enable the sound for mobile devices?

    I don't think it's possible for iOS clients.  You must use a desktop client such as the Acrobat Pro you are using.  I have heard it discussed in other topics that even sometimes when you view PDF's in web browsers they will not play media (video nor audio).

  • Editing Sound Files for CD Burning

    Is there a feature in iTunes that allows a user to custom edit ripped tracks and those purchased at iTunes Music Store? I like to make my own custom CD's, and just burning tracks straight from iTunes doesn't cut it. I can edit them to play back on iTunes the way I want them to, but they won't burn to CD in their playback-edited form.

  • Legacy Sound files into an iPod Touch for editing

    This isn't about music, but it seems to me the solution is the same regardless of what is on the sound file.
    I have old interviews I conducted as part of an old job. I want to put them on to my new iPod Touch to listen to while traveling. Since I am only interested in specific topics and passages I need to bookmark where in these hours-long interviews these passages are.
    I can get these interviews from my Mac into my Touch easily with iTunes, but I cannot bookmark or make notations in iTunes. There is a plethora of apps that will playback and edit/bookmark sound files for the Touch, but all of the ones I have found will only do this for files recorded with that app.
    If anyone has any thoughts on an app I have missed or a work around I would be forever grateful.

    No since you can only sync with one computer.

  • Where is the startup sound file?

    I recently changed my Mail Sent.aiff to another sound by replacing the file with another more appropriate sound (I never liked the swoosh).
    I also don't like the fact that the Mac wakes up my wife whenever I turn it on in the morning due to the gong sound. I haven't been able to find a way to change sound through the interface so I was thinking that I might just swap the sound file for it as I did for Mail Sent.
    Can someone tell me where I'd find that file in the OS?
    TIA,
    David

    Actually, yes, it would affect all sounds if you only have internal speakers. It would not affect external speakers. The internal speaker volume setting remains in effect until you change it.
    If you use internal speakers only, you could use the second script (e.g. with volume set at 100) in an AppleScript application run as a login item. The tricky part is running the first script (for full mute) at shutdown. The way I do that is to run a background stay-open AppleScript app as a login item that mutes the volume at shutdown (or restart), as follows.
    on quit
          do shell script "osascript -e 'set volume with output muted'" password "yourPassword" with administrator privileges
          continue quit
    end quit
    I can also provide a script to make it a background app if you like.

  • Too many sound files... AS3 no worky

    I've created this little program to test with.  It works perfectly for 5 or less sound files/for loops.  As soon as I do more then that the sounds stop working. Everything else is fine... just no sound. My plan is to have the xml file determin how many movie clips with attached sound files to create. I'm planning on having tons of movie clips and sound files once this is all finished.  No luck so far
    Is there a limit to how many sound files a swf can reference? Any other ideas why the sounds aren't working for me?
    //load xml
    var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    var xmlData:XML = new XML();
    var xmlPath:String = "data.xml";
    xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest(xmlPath));
    trace("loading xml from: " + xmlPath);
    xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, LoadXML);

         trace("xml loading complete");
         xmlData = new XML(e.target.data);

            //create movie clips
            var container_mc:container = new container();
            addChild(container_mc);
            container_mc.x = 325 * i;  // set the number here to the width of the movie clip being repeated
            //sound info
            tl["snd"+i] = new Sound();
            tl["snd"+i].load(new URLRequest(xmlData.sound.loc[i]));
            container_mc.snd = tl["snd"+i];
            container_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSound, false, 0, true);
            function playSound(event:MouseEvent):void {
                event.currentTarget.snd.play();
    here is the xml file that I'm using:
    <DATA>
        <object_count>20</object_count>
        <sound>
            <loc>fart.mp3</loc>
            <loc>burp.mp3</loc>
            <loc>creak128.mp3</loc>
            <loc>GateOpen.mp3</loc>
            <loc>bang.mp3</loc>
            <loc>pop.mp3</loc>
            <loc>slap.mp3</loc>
        </sound>
    </DATA>

    Dmennenoh, pulling the playSound function out of the other functions worked perfectly!  I should have known better.  Even though everything is working correctly I am now recieving an error stating that "Parameter url must be non-null."  I'm certain this has to do with the sound file urls that I am passing from the xml document... but if the sounds are playing the urls must be non-null already.
    I tried changing the tl["snd"+i] to container_mc["snd"+i] as you suggested but the sounds would not play at that point.  I recieve an error saying: "a term is undefined and has no porperties."  Below is how I built it:
    function buildScroller():void{
         for (var i:Number = 0; i < 55; i++){
            //create movie clips
            var container_mc:container = new container();
            addChild(container_mc);
            container_mc.x = 325 * i;  // set the number here to the width of the movie clip being repeated
            //sound info
            container_mc["snd"+i] = new Sound();
            container_mc["snd"+i].load(new URLRequest(xmlData.sound.loc[i]));
            container_mc.snd = container_mc["snd"+i];
            container_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSound, false, 0, true);
    function playSound(event:MouseEvent):void {
         event.currentTarget.container_mc.play();

  • Posting sound files

    I just noticed that while no audio formats are supported in the "Attach Files" box, we can post various image formats, video formats (.mov and .swf), and text.
    So, to post audio, one could upload a bitmap of a sound file for importing into Audition; a video containing the audio; or raw audio data as a .txt file.  Using a text format might require converting binary audio data to hex which looks like a normal text file, depending on how the server handles text files.

    Alternatively, you could go to AudioMasters where we actively support Audition and actually let you upload audio files, believe it or not...
    Adobe might support Audition, but the people who run the forums clearly don't support the audio end users, do they? Otherwise perhaps they might not have gotten rid of all the FAQs, and actually let people post relevant files.

  • Keynote and sound files

    I was preparing a lecture where I wanted to use sound files that would run over several slides. It appears that this is not possible. It is either one sound file per slide or one sound file for the whole show. Perhaps I'm wrong, but this is a big disappoinment given that the latest versions of Powerpopint do have this feature!
    I am using Keynote 4.0
    Bill

    There are numerous threads discussing this problem within this forum. There are only two "workarounds" that enable you to run an audio track over multiple slides:
    1) Create individual "sub-presentations" for each group of slides you want to use with a single audio Soundtrack and then link them together via Hyperlinks. CAVEAT: If you play KN presentations via Hyperlinks, you lose any Synchronization you may have created when you Recorded the Soundtrack. All Builds and/or Transitions will have to be triggered via a Click or Automatically for each slide as the presentation is playing.
    2) Use Builds to change your graphics, rather than create new slides. If you keep everything within one slide, you then can assign an audio track for the slide that will play through all of the graphics.

  • Is there a way to change the default icon for a sound file in KN2

    i have need to include dozens of sound files on each slide that will trigger as text builds. i can handle all the transitions fine but i cannot figure out how to change the standard icon for the sound file.
    i would prefer to have the text be the icon, if that is not possible to have a smaller icon for the file. as i build the page i am ending up with a huge mess, icons covering text, also there is not a intuitive way to tell which sound file is which with out click/playing each file.

    we modified the line width and a few other things. You'll have to modify all the pcxml files for all the chart types you want to customize.

  • Where is browser cache file for Firefox 5.0? For example, if I hear a sound on an url, how do I retrieve it or anything else that's in the cache??

    Where is the browser cache file in Firefox 5.0? It's my understanding that in prior versions, one only had to type "about:cache" in the address bar to retrieve the cache file. But this doesn't work on 5.0. I want to retrieve sound files from Cornell.edu ornithology website but cannot find where the file is located. In IE6.0 one only had to go to tools > internet options > settings > view files = viola!! As for prior versions of Firefox, the plug-in CacheViewer was very helpful but is incompatible w/ Firefox 5.0. Please help!

    A-OK, Xircal. Absolutely correct. I had a space where it should not have been. Problem solved. Thx bunches.
