Sound from pc to home ste

:smileyindifferent:how can i have sound coming from my pc to stereo come out of home stereo only an not pc speakers.
thanks

Uh, there's TONS of options, depending on what inputs you have on your stereo. But most often (and the simpelest) is a minijack on the output of your soundscard to a a RCA input on your stereo most often labeled "Aux" (which in most cases has a White and Red female RCA receptor) to connect a minijack-to-dual RCA cable).

  • Difference in sound from A2Z and DVD home equipment

    Hi,
Does anybody tell how different in sound from Audigy 2ZS and home theater system. What i mean by this is the output system is the same (Home theater speakers, surround receiver). The only difference is signal source, either from sound Blaster A 2ZS or from home DVD player.
As far as i understand, the A 2ZS wont maximize its utilities if we select the SPDIF pass through and the signal will be sent directly to the external decoder. Am i correct to say this? and if so, the sound quality is totally subject to the external decoder and speakers systems. But i have read couple audiophile forums, it said that the sound varies according to CD/DVD player, how come we have this.
To conclude, any strenghs of A2ZS over home CD/DVD player interms of sound quality?
    Appreciate if anybody could tell.

Well sound in this context is made up of 3 componemts: source, amp and speakers. The 3 things to watch are THD (total harmonic distortion), S/N (signal to noise ratio) and Frequency Responce.
For a good system you need <0.0% THD, S/N >20 Db and frequency responce at least as wide as 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
There is a difference between listening to music, which is best in stereo, and home theatre, which is designed for spacial effects rather than reproducing high quality music.
To address your question directly it is not possible to answer because you wish to compare a disc player with what in this instance may be described as a switch/router.
In relation to sound between the Audigy 2 ZS and my home theatre system there is a world of difference even though they are interconnected. That may be because of a 25 fold difference in cost though.
Home theatre should include video switching as well, normally incorporated in the amp and called an AV amp. Spend money on a good one of these and you won;t go wrong. Look for 6 powered channels with a minimum power of 30 RMS per channel. In stereo mode the 2 channel amps should be class A. In 5. mode you will not get the above specs unless you are intent on spending serious money.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Sending sound from my TV into my Samsung Home Theater

    Hi all -
I bought a Samsung HT-Z420 Home theater speaker system and I can't figure out how to get the sound from regular cable tv through the speakers.
My TV has a audio out, so I plugged in the red and white cables and then connected to the AUX in the home theater box, but that doesn't work...
Is it possible to use my speakers from watching cable TV?
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

well, i don't have a cable box.  it's just the audio outputs on the TV.  its an older sony.  not high def, flat screen or anything like that.
the dvd/hometheater system doesn't seem to have an audio input.  only a 'digital audio in'  does this mean my tv is too old to work with this?  my TV only has the red and white cable plugs.
other plug on the home theater are AUX2 in, and component out.  the AUX2 in are the red and white plugs, so i just plugged the IN there and hoped for the best, which of course didn't work out.

  • Trying to get sound from my X-FI Fatal1ty Titanium Pro. to Home Theatre via Optical Ca

Hi wondering if anyone has done this but I can't seem to get it to work. I have a X-Fi Fatalty Titanium Pro(w/o the Li've Dri've) on Vista 32-bit. Anywho it has the Optical I/O on the card itself and I am trying to hook this up to my Home Theater system. I have the optical already hooked up to the output on the card, and into my DVD input on my Yamaha receiver but am not getting any sound. So far that's all I have done, is there settings I am more than likely missing either in the Vista sound, creative console, etc....
Note:? I had this working before on my onboard sound and on XP, but since with the onboard I could only get some sounds playing through my home theater I decided to get this Fatalty Titanium card and the sound settings in Vista seems really vague not a lot of options.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

I have a Yamaha RX-V3800, it's fairly new and supports just about every thing except true THX.
Not sure what DDL means, it just seems to me I am having a lot harder time with Vista setting than with XP. I had a X-Fi XtremeGamer installed but because it didn't have any Digital out so I had to use my onboard sound which has digital out in conjunction with my XtremeGamer. At least with XP you can choose say all my wave, payback sounds, etc.... to go through one device or the other, in my case either through the Realtek HD or the CL X-Fi XtremeGamer.
Now that I have the Fatalty and Vista and onboard sound disabled, I have a hard time seeing any options and settings if any at all that Vista has. ? Oh yes also with my old setup with the two sound devies, the only problem I had was that if I di'vert all the sound to my Home Theatre I would lose the sound in my Headset which I didn't want and had to change back and forth the audio devices to what I wanted.
I hope this helps answer your questions a little, and maybe help me answer mine.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Imac 27" brief mechanical ejection sound from dvd drive when booting up

    Hey guys,
Had a quick question. I'm on my third 27" stock 3.06Ghz imac that was replaced yesterday. The good news is that so far it doesn't seem to have any of the problems of my previous two 27" imac's.
There is one thing though. A couple of seconds after pressing the power button to bootup there is a brief mechanical sound from the dvd drive like a quick ejecting sound even though there is no cd in the drive. My first 27" imac dvd drive made the sound but the second imac 27" Imac I had didn't. Is this sound normal? Would be curious to know why two out of the three 27" Imac's I had make that noise.
System profiler says my dvd drive is a:
    OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680H
Would be nice to hear from other Imac 27" owners to see if they have this sound. Peace of mind I guess. Thanks in advance!

    Roger, et al,
    Thanks for the prompt responses.
I ran Software Update, but I was already up to date, so there was nothing new to install.
The drive seems to be working fine. I used it to load lots of programs, made some big iDVD videos, and made a DVD of some Quicktime movie files. I can live with this startup sound, but I asked the Apple tech about it and she's the one who flagged it as a more serious problem. So unless someone can steer me in the direction of a home cure, I guess I'll take the young 'puter to the doctor.

  • Can't get sound from Insignia BT headphones w/ BT-equipped dv3t

Both are brand-new, I charged the headphones and downloaded the updated drivers from www.broadcom.com (actually Vista seemed to do it automatically) and the device is paired but I can't get any sound out of it (it's turned on:-)).
Under the Playback tab in the Sound control panel there are three items:
    Speakers: Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Speakers and Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
Independent Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
All say they are working, but when I test the sound of each one I only get sound from the notebook speakers using the second option. The only weird thing I can think of is that I had the USB adapter plugged in when I downloaded the drivers, so maybe it downloaded drivers designed to work through USB? (I can't get sound with the adapter plugged in, though, either).
Any suggestions welcome, I really want to get this to work and not have to send the headphones back to seller (which is what Insignia tech support told me to do).
P.S. I know I have BT turned on because I'm also connected to a wireless home network, they go together.

    Hello again,
oops, I must have missed your last message... sorry for that!
I have to say, that I don t have my digital sound system that long, that I can answer this question for sure. However...
You re right, that it should be possible, although I wasn t able to find a way to do that... yet... Somewhere (don t know if it was this forum or another place) I ve read, that the SPDIF support for Windows Vista isn t that nice at this time... perhaps a new driver will solve this
Furthermore... I don t use the Media Center that much. So I don t even know if there is any option to set the output device (within the application Media Center). That would be important to realize "the best of both worlds". Explanation: If you want headphones support, you (always) have to leave the Speakers device as default. Other applications (such as Winamp,...) allow us to set the output device (in Winamp for example you can set it under the preferences Output -> Directsound device) to the SPDIF device, although we have selected "Speakers" as default in the control panel... nice, isn t it's For sure... if it would work...
That way you don t get a(n) AC3/DTS signal via SPDIF... so, if you use Windows Vista (I can't answer your question related to other operating systems, because of my newly purchased system -> I haven t used it on XP) the only way that I know ( til now) is to select the SPDIF device as default...

  • Can I stream the sound from a video running on my apple tv to my wireless speakers using airplay?

I have living room speakers connected to an airport express and available via airplay from my computer, ipad2 and iphone which is great for playing music. My question is, can I use those speakers to play sound from videos running on my apple tv? For instance if I use airplay to run a video on apple tv from my computer or iOS device, can I have the audio play on my speakers connected to an airport express? It would be amazing to be able to use the speakers simultaneously with the apple tv as they are both on the same home sharing network. Possible?

No. But, are your speakers only connected to the AE or are they also connected to an amplifier?
You would need to use a Toslink cable to go from the Apple TV to the speakers/amp.
I don't use this or know a lot about it, but it is wildly popular, inexpensive and may be of help:

  • When I open a music in itunes got a message "connecting to apple tv" and got no sound from my mac

When I open a music in itunes got a message "connecting to apple tv" and got no sound from my mac.

AirPlay isn't anything to do with homesharing. (Home sharing lets you share the iTunes libraries on computers)
Basic AirPlay: Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Mirroring: When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Getting sound from macbook to work on HDTV

Hi, I'm having problems getting sound from my macbook aluminum 13" to my tv. The tv is a Samsung R8 Series 37" LE37R87BD HD. i got picture up by running a dvi to hdmi to the tv. i have no problem with picture but i can't get any sound. I tried 3.5mm jack from macbook to tv 3.5mm jack. got no sound. so bought a 3.5mm Jack to 2 x RCA and still got no sound. i even ran the the jack through my home cinema system and to no luck.
is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?

Forgive what may be a dumb question on my part, but you are using the correct audio jack on your MacBook? The output would be the one closest to the security slot, farthest from the display/USB ports of the two 3.5mm/optical jacks. Also check the Output tab of the Sound system preferences to make sure that the Headphones/Line output is selected. It will probably be the only output shown, but double-check just to make sure.
Note that not all TVs will work with an auxiliary audio input when the video input is set to HDMI. Check your TV's documentation to see if it can split the video and audio input to different sources. That wouldn't, of course, explain why your audio amplifier isn't getting signal either.

  • When I select a sound email or video, decide I want to go to another video or email, the sound from the first video continues to completion before I can listen to my new selection. How can I stop this?

How do I stop the sound from a video or email when I want I click out of the video. Presently, the sound continues and I have to escape out to home screen to stop it.

Now as you may know there is some icons at the bottom of the mail app, at the top left conner you should have the inbox button and on the upper right conner you should have two arrows to shift between emails. If any of those options works try :
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings
If that does not work try to re add the account
Last but not least, restore as new.
    Hope that helps.

Did you already reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, try to set it up as new device, explained here:

  • X-Fi Titanium: Almost no sound from center speaker in 5.1 mode (optical out)

    Hi everybody,
I have searched the forum, but not found any post regarding this problem, so I'm gonna post myself.
First of all: I have an X-Fi Titanium that is connected to my Home Theatre Dolby Digital/DTS Decoder via optical cable, so I use the DTS Li've encoding feature of my X-Fi to get 5. surround sound.
But from the beginning I've had the following problem: When I start a game, the sound is perfectly normal, but suddenly (not at a specific action, just out of nowhere) the sound from my center speaker is almost inaudible, extremely dull. So I can still hear, for example, the explosions or voices that come from the sides or the back, but everything that is right in front of me or is played back only through the center is almost silent.
When I quit the game, start the THX-Console and click on each speaker, all of them except the center speaker play back the test sound (like "front left", "front right" or whatever it is in the English version, I have the German version).
Switching to another mode (game, entertainment or the third, don't know what it's called in the English version), resetting the sound card via the control panel or clicking on "Standard" (or maybe "Default" in the English software?) does not bring back the sound on the center speaker, all I can do is switch to two-speaker- or headphones-mode so the center speaker is not used. Even rebooting windows does not work. I haven't figured out yet what exactly helps, but usually after a while suddenly the center works again.
The only reliable solution is to reinstall the whole software and driver, but with the slow Creative servers, it always takes hours to download all updates with Auto-Update, and installing everything with each single file for each little software module isn't much faster either.
I must say that I am very disappointed by Creative. Before my X-Fi Titanium I had an X-Fi Platinum, and the drivers really sucked. I hoped that this was because at that time, the X-Fi series was still quite new. But almost nothing has really improved since then. I would like to have ONE installation routine for the whole software package, with checkboxes to choose what I want to install, and not only when using the original CD, but also with the update files for download. And, most of all, I want the driver to just work! Since the beginning, I've only had problems with these cards.
Anyway, I hope someone can help me on this. Thanks a lot in advance.

I think I see what is happening now.
When using the analog outputs (5.), you have to enable bass redirection, and set the front or back speakers to small in the "Bass Management" screen of the THX control panel.
Bass redirection does not send anything to the subwoofer if the front and back speakers are all set to large. There should be a bypass switch for this, so the bass can be sent to full size satellites and the subwoofer.
When using the spdif DDL output, my receiver would decode and send bass to the subwoofer on it's own.
Only buggy part I'm noticing now is that I lose all bass occasionally on boot, and must do an "Auto Detect..." in the "Speaker Configuration" screen of the THX control panel to get it back.

You have your mute button on.  In Settings check to see if you have Lock Orientation checked or Mute checked on the right hand side.  If you have Mute checked, all you need to do is click the mute button above the volume control buttons on the upper right hand side of your iPad.  If you have Lock Orientation checked in settings, you double click your home button and the most recent apps will appear.  Swipe your finger to the right until the Mute icon appears on the left side.  Touch it and you will unmute system sounds.
