Sound going out rando

I have a Xfi Fatalty card with Windows Xp pro sp2 and recently i keep getting my sound going out, sometimes i am watching a movie sometimes playing a game or just listening to music. I have the most recent driver and have even tried the one before it but it ends the same. I am getting tired of this happening cause the only way i have found to fix it is to restart my pc and just go on till it does it again. If anyone has had this problem and got it fixed pls tell me cause this is getting very annoying.

I am still having the same problem even after upgrading to Vista 64 bit, does anyone know if the new drivers don't work for some cards.

Sound goes out

On my iMac at home, the sound will occasionally go out. Mute is not on, volume is up, no headphones in the jack, but there will be no sound from any application. So far the only way I've been able to find to get the sound to come back on is a reboot. Logging in an out, changing users, resetting NVRAM, none of that has helped. I also haven't figured out what makes the sound cut out, it just seems to occasionally cut out without rhyme or reason. Has anyone ever seen this before?

You're saying to do this when the sound goes out? I'll try it next time it happens, but what would cause my audio settings to change? The sound will go out sometimes when my wife is listening to music in iTunes, and then right in the middle of a song, the sound will go out. Or sometimes we'll be editing a movie in iMovie, and the sound will go out. Or watching a video in Safari, sound goes out. What would cause that?

Sound goes out of sync in playback, why???

I have just bought the new MacBook Pro 13" with the i7 dual core 2.8
and bought Final Cut X from the app store - Im playing around with some footage shot on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7
Ive put in a few edits with transitions, some titles and added sound effects.
In playback, the sound slowly goes out of sync! After only about 10 seconds...
The vision lags while the sound keeps going, there is some flickering, then its worse.
If I pause playback, then resume it resets...
Any ideas?

I have also experienced this. Not on every video. But on some videos.
The sync slowly drifts. Then hit pause and then play, and sure enough, the picture and sound are back in sync again.
This tells me that if you export ("share") the movie, the sound will be fine (it was for me). But it is unnerving to preview your work and see and hear the picture and sound drift out of sync like that.
I don't know the answer of why it happens (or how to remedy it), but my hunch is it has something to do with either not enough memory (or processing power), or a slightly underpowered video card. Just a guess.
I guess in any of those cases, the remedy would be to upgrade to a more powerful computer. :-(

Sound going out on the wrong end

I use a Pavilion dm4-2095.
Even when I have my headphones some program's sounds go out trought the notebook, not thought the headphone, skype for example. How can i fix this?

Apple TV Screen Flashing and Sound going out

I just bought an Apple TV 3rd Generation from a friend and just set it up. I open Netflix and start to browsing movies and playing them, the thing is that sometimes the screen starts flashing and the sounds goes off, or sometimes the screen keeps palying but the sounds goes off. I don't know if this has to do with my HDMI or with my WiFi network. Does anyone have any clue?

I have the exact same issue. Have also unplugged the unit - both HDMI and power. This seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but it comes back after time. The unit worked flawlessly for about the first 45 days. Not sure why it started to act up now. Nothing changed in terms of settings or equipment.

Aging Macbook Problems - sound going out/shutting down randomly when unplugged

My macbook is from July/Aug 2007, so it's not quite 5 years old. One of the problems I have been experiencing is when I have a full charge and unplug it, usually around 80% or so, it'll just completely shut down. Doesn't matter if I'm running one thing or multiple things. I've had my current battery for almost two years now. My cycle count is 150. The battery isn't bloated or anything. (My last one started to, which is why I got the new one.) Since the cycle count is so few, it should still be under warranty, I believe, if that's the probable cause of the shutdowns.
I have also been getting kernel panics maybe once every other week or so for a little bit now. Usually it happens when I'm watching video online and it'll freeze and the message pops up. Going to do some troubleshooting and see if I can figure that one out. Any chance it's related to the random shutdowns when I'm not plugged in?
The last thing I've noticed is also when I'm watching video online, sometimes my sound will go out and will be replaced with an intermittent crackling sound. I read a few forums and found that if I put headphones in and out of the jack, it'll fix the sound back to normal. This sound problem doesn't happen very frequently, but a lot of the time when it does, it'll happen a couple of times in one sitting. So far, I've never noticed it happening when I'm using Itunes or watching a DVD, only stuff online like youtube or when watching my slingbox, etc.

Ummm, nope. All due respects, this problem cropped up suddenly, at about the same time, for multiple users, on different laptop types. Probability of all this happening at once due to simultaneous hardware failures is much lower than if it was caused by say a software update not playing well with something (a piece of 3rd party software, etc). I'm having the same exact problem, I have put a new battery in, same thing happens.
This is similar to 3 or so years ago when widgets were first introduced, laptop battey lifes dropped to about 1/3 and the machines heated up. General consensus was it must be hardware, well no it was software, and a software fix took care of it. I'm hoping someone figures this out soon...

Sound goes out of sync after pausing video

Hi everyone,
Got a 1 month old Apple TV which is working just great with videos bought off the store... However I've run into a really annoying problem when watching videos that I've encoded myself. They will all play just fine, from beginning to end - unless I pause them. When the videos are un-paused the sound is badly out of sync, and no amount of pausing/unpausing stopping/starting will get it back in sync again. Best I can do is restart from the beginning and fast forward to the same spot and this usually results in a better sync - but not perfect. This happens with both SD and HD encoded video. They are playing off the internal drive having been synced over from my itunes library.
My Apple TV is on 3.0.1 firmware and I'm running iTunes on a Windows 7 laptop. I've been using "Any Video Converter Pro" (http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video/)to re-encode my videos as I don't know much about the subject and it has an AppleTV option which makes it really easy...
Here's the settings used for a typical video file: 1280x720 resolution with a 3500kbs bit-rate at 25fps, audio bit-rate of 128kbs with a 44100 sample rate. 2 channels.
Would be grateful for any ideas on what's going wrong here as this is really spoiling my enjoyment of the apple tv.

Sounds like the encoder software causing issues.
When I encode on the Mac from my Camcorder to itunes/ATV I use HandBrake with good results - there is linux and Windoze versions versions available.
It has a preset for ATV as the destination which saves the hassle of tweaking the settings to start with....
It's been around sometime and was fantastic help when I went from Windoze to Mac a few years ago, and I wanted to re-encode all those files I had still in raw DV format from the camera.

The sound goes out when using facetime on my macbookpro after a few minutes. How do I fix this?

I recently downloaded facetime to my macbookpro 13" with OS X Version 10.6.8. The app works fine for a few minutes, then the sound disappears. I have to close and relaunch the app before it starts working for another few minutes then all over again. Is there a fix for this???

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Sound going out - two different scenarios.

So I have an AppleTV2 connected via HDMI to a Pioneer VSX-920-K home theater receiver and HDMI out to my Sony KDL-46S5100. I'm having two problems.
1) While playing music to the ATV2 via Airtunes I will hit play and the song will start, but then it is a toss-up if the next song will play or not. It will display on the TV that the song has begun and will play thru, but no audio will actually be heard. Sometimes the song after that WILL play. It seems totally random.
2) Sometimes when I wake the ATV2 up I will have audio and no video or video and no audio and I will have to unplug the ATV2 and plug it back in, which fixes it.
Any help?

Does this also happen if the Apple TV is connected directly to the TV.

No sound come out from my i pod!!

after i convert 1 of my music videos.. i tranfser it into my ipod.. when i play it ..... it come out without sounds but my others songs got!!! pls help me guys!!!

The problem with the video sound going out started with the last Ipod update. The videos played fine until then. I called the Technical Help Line and they said they are aware of this problem from the update, but there is nothing they can do. They suggested that if maybe more people posted the problem on the discussion boards that maybe Apple would do something. I don't understand how the Technical Help Line can't let them know they need to fix this problem. They need to do another update correcting the problem and so far nothing has been done.
Apple, please do another update to correct the problem with the video sound or at least let us know that you are aware of and are currently working on the problem. Please do not continue to ignore the issue.

X-Fi Xtreme Music sound going

About 5 times a night my sound goes out in a series of clicks, pops, and beeps (lasts about 30 seconds and is very loud... I just have to mute my sound or I think my ears might start bleeding). After it's done clicking, I will lose sound for everything and a minute later the same clicking process happens again and I get sound back. When on Ventrilo, everything is played back to me all at once. Anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it's PS: It usually happens when minimizing out of games, but happens while doing other stuff as well.

Qosmio X505-Q860/Issues/Sound goes up & down, in & out

Bit of a issue with my sound system; (kinda been a problem since I've had it, which has only been a few months, though only now decided to finally break down and ask for help.) The issue being that my sound goes up and down, in and out,( makes the stomach a bit sick while listening to it.) I notice this issue more while playing music than movies; I don't know if this matters much. I have tried to simply change the setting and style; to no avail had this done any improvement. I have been searching to see if this issue has been reported, but haven't found any solution; I've been told it might be a driver issue, yet I'm not quite sure what to do about it. I have warranty, is it best to contact Toshiba? Anyway, just looking for any say on the issue.

SOLUTION FOUND!
Hello all
In order to prevent volume variations from occurring, all you need to do is click on the Start Menu, then click on Run, then type "msconfig", then click on the Startup tab and then UNTICK the row entitled "Toshiba Volume Regulator".
You will need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect and on start up you will get a message saying that the Startup list has been modifed (etc.), just click on "Do not show me again" and that's it!

Since the iOS 7 update, some apps no longer have sound, even of configured to do so. Example, no longer does my FaceTime ring even if I have a tone set; my email app doesn't make a sound when email comes in or goes out. Help!

Ever since I updated to ios7, sounds from specific apps has disappeared, even if configured correctly to make sounds. My mail doesn't sound off anymore when mail comes in or goes out. My FaceTime no longer rings when someone calls me. My map app no longer gives me voice instructions like it did before. If someone messages me I do not hear sounds anymore. I find it very annoying especially because I have family abroad and FaceTime is an important means of communication. I reset it by pressing the sleep and home button and all, nothing happened.
Can someone help understand how to resolve this problem.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
(B) Make sure sound is not muted in Control Center; tap on the little bell. Swipe upwards from bottom of screen to launch Control Center

Explosive sounds from macbook before internal speakers going out TWICE

Hey guys,
So my internal speakers stopped working about a week ago, and a few hours before that my laptop started making weird sounds - it sounded like a mini war was going on inside my computer.. explosive sounds (i know it sounds silly but my friend was there and he heard it too). Then a few hours later, my internal speakers stopped working, AND my headphones wouldn't work either. There is no red light flashing in the headphone jack..
But a few hours later after restarting and shutting off my computer a few times, the sound came back again! The explosive sounds stopped happening.. until a few days later when i heard the sounds AGAIN. And of course, my internal speakers are dead once again.
Everything else on my laptop is fine. Nothing is corrupted, my applications are running smoothly. I'm guessing because the sound is out, videos are not playing either. It would load, but it won't play. Same with iTunes. Even if I select a song, it won't play!
I also ran the hardware test on my laptop twice. Once it's the short version, the second time was the extended version. Both times the results were normal, that there's nothing wrong with my hardware.
Someone please help me! What else can I try?
