Sound has gone after virus scan

This morning I ran a virus scan on my computer and ever since have had no sound.
When I went to the control panel it said that I didn't have any sound driver.. What do I do?
I tried to perform a system restore but sadly this was turned off and therefore unavailable.
Hopefully someone can help me out.

Download the sound driver, unzip the package, and execute the setup exe.

The ringtones are working but all other sounds are not working please help

I had this problem on my iPod Touch 4g. Just press the home and sleep button. Wait and it will give an iTunes and cable logo. Now you can put in DFU mode (Hold Sleep and Home button 10 seconds and then release the power button kand keep pressing on the home button.) Now you will be able to restore it in iTunes.

Until you have tried Maps, Music, etc. first hand, I wouldn't formulate negative opinions about them. And updates, if performed correctly, do not erase data.
I presume that last time you updated through iTunes. This time, update over Wi-Fi by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Thanks for getting back to me, The AU manger was there, just when you treid to click on it, it just wasn't responding.
But i had a scan thourgh google and found the answer, i removed the audio units cache and restarted it and all was good. I was really starting to get stressed over the matter but however i got to the bottom of it.

So just to be clear on a few things:
Should partitioning the hard drive not work is it undoable?
Will this have any impact on doing a complete erase and reinstall and will that restore it back from the process?
Is there a limited amount of space that makes this process ineffective?
I have never had to do this sort of thing so I just want to be sure I don;t wind up in the dog house *)

Sound (optical) gone after upgrade [SOLVED]

Hi All,
I have had great fun after the last upgrade. First problem nvidia driver would not load, solved by allocating more ram on the kernel line (in /boot/menu.1st
Second problem is I no longer have a visible optical sound interface (the one on the motherboard, intel chip ) The nvidia hdmi sound channel is there though ..
pavucontrol shows no optical device just nvidia hdmi ..
Anyone know how to debug this?

Updated to 10.5.4 on my Air - but the SOUND has gone!

I just updated my OS today, and as a result of the update, the volume control has gone away. There is no sound on the laptop. On the Sound menu - it says it does not find any output devices!

Hi , after updating my itunes to 11.0.2 i've opened itunes and everything in my libary has gone, its wiped all photos and i was wondering if there was anyway off getting it back as i don't want to have to create all playlists again

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Sound has gone from my games

For no reason that I can see, the sound has been disabled or something in all my games. I've tried checking settings, but there's nothin there to explain it. Any ideas?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music/iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Volume sound affect gone after downloading Yosemite.

after i downloaded yosemite, my volume sound affects are gone (the sound when you press the volume button)

Make sure that those sound effects are enabled, checkmarks in those two boxes.

All sound devices gone after upgrade to 10.8.5 - help!!

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and have lost all my sound (doesn't work over the net nor iTunes etc. - in fact iTunes doesn't even play). This all seems to be because if I open 'Audio MIDI setup' it simply states 'no devices found on the system'
Besides the obvious time machine back to the previous OSX is there anything I can do (time machine is back to a drive in my office and I am away from this). I'm pretty annoyed this has happened, everything else seems fine, thanks, Jim

I bought music on my iphone 5 and now it has gone afterI changed my apple ID how can i get it back?

I have an Iphone 5 and I bought albums on it via itunes store app. I now realised they have gone. I can only imagine it is because I have had to change my apple ID as I no longer use the old email address (old company). I am disappointed that this has been the result though. I have synced my iphone with one of the PC's that has my itunes to see if it will reappear but no. How do I get them back?
It is strange as it was there one evening and then the next it was gone. I hadn't actually changed anything that evening but I wonder if it was the result of the home sharing sync or something?

It doesn't matter that your Apple ID, which uses the same characters as your old email address, now has a defunct address. You need to go into your Apple ID profile and change the defunct address for a valid one. This will not necessarily change the "address" which stands as your Apple ID.
By "changing" the address directly on the Apple ID itself and not on the profile, you inavertedly created a new Apple ID.
