I have a 925x with P4 550, 1gb 533mhz ...
if I install a HD on the raid ide and try to play a avi file... the result is noice from the internal sound card and delays of 1 to 2 sec.
If i play the same file from my c: drive (connected to the primary IDE) play well...
Also I try to run corecenter without any good result... PC Alerts it is telling me that of the voltage is supposed to be between 10.0v to 13.0v and said 5.xxv ???
any ideas...
my power supply is Turbo-Cool 510 (PCI-E)...
C: - Maxtor 60GB (IDE 1)
D: - Maxtor 250GB (IDE 1)
E: - Seagate 80MB (IDE RAID)
DVD-ROM (IDE RAID)
MSI XT600 XT
WinXP SP2

Am using 80 pin cables,
aswell as BIOS 1.4
it would seem that this problem is across all the 925x boards as
my friend has the same rig as me and the same problem on hisi have downloaded the latest drivers and updated them.
I am using winxp sp2(althought i think that for once this isnt the problem)
IDE channles are set to auto in device manager so they are running dma.
I am going to buy a pci raid controller for now till the problem is identified and fixed by MSI

Sound device problem in ZONE

I created a solaris zone for my desktop use, but the sound device was not avaialbe. I tried to export it from the global zone:

then rebooted the zone, login it, found there were several files added in /dev:

I tried the following methods but failed:
1. Change manually these files' mode to a+rw as root. But once I logged out the zone or rebooted the zone, the changes were lost.
2. Create a script in /etc/init.d/ and link it to /etc/rc3.d/ to let it auto execcute when boot, as below:

However I think it's not a good method, because I have to wait for 10 minutes before I can login it (if I login the zone before the permissions were changed, the sound device will never work)

It's probably /etc/logindevperm that's fighting you. Read the comments in that file, then you can modify /dev/sound in it.
The idea is that only the user logged in on the console would normally have access to the audio device and the frame buffer, so the permissions are reset at login.
If you're having folks login through a separate zone, this changes that assumption.

It also takes time for the photos to be transferred out of your iPhone and into Photo stream on Apple's iCloud servers.
Note that this can't happen if your iPhone is not connected to a WiFi network:
When you enable My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos you take are automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture begin uploading automatically when you have a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream are uploaded.
PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later: Open a Windows Explorer window and under Favorites select iCloud Photos if you are using iCloud Control Panel 3.0 (or Photo Stream if you are using 2.0 to 2.1.2). Open My Photo Stream. Click the "Add photos" button. Select the photos to import to My Photo Stream, then click Open.

Audigy 2 sound card problems

I am hoping that someone out there can help me in a crucial situation.
I am using an Audigy 2 sound card with creative 5. speakers.
I also use Adobe Audition to edit, record sessions for my voice-over jobs.
Recently, I attempted to hook up a web cam so that I could see my grand daughter on the west coast.
After hooking up the web cam, I noticed my home studio environment changed drastically. I began having trouble with recording using my microphone through my Macki mixer. I began hearing a continuous hiss that I had never experienced before.
In fact after uninstalling the web cam, and restarting my computer, I got that horrible blue screen on my computer indicating the world was about to end! Smile
Long story short, I was able to finally get my computer back up, but I continue to experience problems recording "clean' audio".
Three things, after reinstalling Creative from disc several times and restarting my computer I receive a window stating Creative Media Source Detector.....Unable to load needed components....Please reinstall the application"
Also, when trying to test my sound hardware I get a message stating...Direct play voice setup..."an error occurred during direct play voice setup....error code 0x80004005
Last but not least I cannot access the "Creative diagnostic feature on my computer. I only get a small window for this feature that will not open up fully and allow me to run a diagnostic test!
I know this is a lot to absorb, but I cannot get anyone from Creative to address my problems because I am out of warranty and therefore not getting any love from this company.
Need your advice and or guidance on this.
Please respond when time allows.

restart your pc

once your back in to windows try recording something and see if everything's back to normal
now reinstalling your web cam but don't reinstall using the cd that came with it
find the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers
install cd's best avoided simply because the software and drivers they contain are typically the initial release versions, and so potentially very old
and i think we can all agree that old, buggy drivers can be a real pain

Intermittent sound & voice problems

I have been having Intermittent sound & voice problems
During the last week when making receiving the voice and sound from the speaker is distorted on both ends of the conversation
I have to restart the mobile and it works fine for a day or so then starts again
I reset the phone to factory setting and it seems to have no effect
Has anyone else had these problems?

How I fixed my Toshiba Satellite sound distortion problem

I've been trying to get the garbled sound recording problem fixed on my Satllite L745-S4210 for months. I have been on this forum and other forums. Alot of people have given me their time trying to fix it, but I managed to do it myself. In the Microphone Properties Advanced Section is a box "enable audio enhancements" I unchecked that box and all my recordings are now crystal clear!

Fixed my sound crackling problem! Soundblast X-fi Xtrememusic c

I received my Soundblaster X-fi Xtrememusic card yesterday evening and having sound crackling problem. I could hear this crackling sound whenever I play music CD or play Battlefield 2 and it was annoying,? So I searched Google about this and found a thread on this forum about a bunch of people having this same problem. I just thought I should post my problem/solution to see if this fixes for you guys. The issue with my system was because of my wireless Belkin Pre-N desktop card. Here is how I found out:?. Was having crackling problem so I reinstalled Windows XP w/ SP22. After Windows XP installed, the first driver I installed was for?Soundblaster X-fi card3. Tested the sound by playing music CD. Couldn't detect any crackling sound.4. Installed Belkin?wireless?Pre-n desktop card driver and crackling sound returns. >5. Uninstall Belkin driver and turned off computer6. Put in my old D-Link DWL 520 Wireless card and installed driver for it. So far X-fi seems to like D-Link DWL 520 card!?I tested with D-Link DWL 520 by listening to music and downloading 28mb file off Nvidia and no crackling sound! I hope this help for you guys! K8N Neo4-FI Major IDE-problems (Only Pio on some disks)

Just registered so hello everybody!
I just got me a new rig which is seen in my sign. It took me a long time to figure out that you couldn't install Win on the Sata drive without having all of the IDE disks offline, but eventually I think I read that somewhere here and made a successful installation of the incredible Win XP .
When I was finished with installing I connected all the IDE-drives (Ch01: Seagate 160GB as master and Seagate 300GB as slave; Ch02: Seagate 80GB as master and NEC DVDRW as slave - all jumpered properly) it took me an even longer while to figure out that IDE wouldn't work at all with the supplied (and/or downloaded) Nvidia drivers. But I read that somewhere here too.
Now my rig is pretty much set up, but not working as it should - and when you've just spent some 800 Euros on a new comp you don't want to engage in compromises.
Problem is that having the IDE drives connected (regardless of configuration) makes the boot time incredibly long, while with only the SATA drive connected it is very rapid. But the problems doesn't stop there...
The slave on Channel 1 (the 300GB) and the master on Channel 2 (the 80GB which is not on the controller card) are both ran in PIO mode, and this seems impossible to change. I have read a lot about IDE problems with the Nvidia chipsets on this forum including what is in the FAQ and other places about how You should config your IDE drives to have them work properly but nothing seems to work. I'm beginning to consider sending MSI an angry e-mail telling them what I think about this bullsh*t.
Does anyone have an idea apart from what has been written and explained already on this forum (I'm pretty certain that I've read it all).

I'm suspecting that they f***ed everything up at first but I'm not sure. I'd be ripping my hair off if I reinstall Windows and the problem remains.
I also invested in hi-quality ATA cables from Thermaltake recently, no difference though.
Any input (on topic) would be appreciated.

What a coincidence, I happen to be having a similar issue. My sec HDD (maxtor) appears on Computer Managment/Disk Managment as "unallocated" as well.
I have tried any trick that I know of without any success. Reading your post gave me the idea of buying an expansion card. However, I refuse to spend the money on something that should work in the first place.
I strongly belive that the issue here lies on the mobo itself, as I have been able to get it to work on only one IDE conector.

K8N Neo Platinum IDE problem

I got everything installed just fine and all is well booting into windows. I then install all the chipset drivers on the cd and reboot. The next time I put a cd in my rom to install a program it takes forever for it to read the cd and also windows gets really slow. I spent a while trying to figure out what was wrong and finally reinstalled windows again. And again same thing, as soon as I install the chipset drivers my Rom goes wack and windows is super slow. So I uninstalled the IDE drivers that the disk installed and let windows install its own drivers and WAAA LAAA problem solved. By the way I use a sata hard drive and the only thing on the ide is my dvd burner. Thats the only optical drive I have. Anybody else have this problem? I even tryed the new 5.10 drivers and same thing.

I've had ide problems with the nforce ide drivers. The windows set always has worked for me. I had to try a few different versions and ended up having version 5.10.2600.412 work for me.
If you are deadset on nforce drivers then that may help if you try other versions but if not the windows drivers seems to not have any problems.

you still have the option (before your warranty expires) of purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan, which will provide an additional two years of coverage. Once your warranty expires, you will no longer have the option of purchasing AppleCare.

HDV exports have new sound sync problem in Quick Time

I'm on FCP 5.1.4. Prior to a few weeks ago, I've had no issue with exporting HDV files and playing on QuickTime. Now, regardless of the Quicktime Conversion I use, the exported video lags the sound. I went back to old projects and exported. Same thing. All the clips play fine in FCP. QuickTime is 7.5. I've read elsewhere people have had to downgrade to prior versions of QT. Anyone have a similar problem or have an idea what the root cause might be?
Specs of captured footage (pretty normal)
Capture video: 1440x1080
Copressor: HDV108060i
Video Rate: 29.97
Audeo: 48hz
Hope we can get some help here because I know others have the problem--and like me--are dead in the water on projects.

Figured out a solution. For those of you who have equipment/software similar to mine, FCP 5.4.1, IMAC G5 and QT 7.5. My project had multiple layered soundtracks. Sending to QT with any kind of compression didn't work. I wanted to ultimately get to an IPOD format. Here's what I did:
Export project as self-contained movie.
Open QT (don't just click on the file - it'll launch FCP).
Open the reference file you just made.
It'll open, but probably stutter because size of raw file; doesn't matter.
Stop QT from playing.
Choose Export; then any file type you want that's smaller.
I chose IPOD.
Works flawlessly.

All my setting are good, everything is on standard so what could have gone wrong?
I have recoverd my Iphone, rebooted it several times, problem was not fixedHonly vibrates, even why i put vibrate on off i still have no sound.
Hope someone has a great idea for me!

When you adjust the volume on the iPhone does it show (headphones) even though headphones are not connected?

Try resetting the iPod by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue is not resolved by removing debris from the headphone jack or resetting the iPod, try restoring the iPod and setting it up as a new iPod. This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.

Sound check & problems with iTunes startup

I recently changed my iTunes settings to allow "sound check," which normalizes the volume of the entire iTunes library. Nothing happened at first, but the next time I opened iTunes, the little now playing window said "determining track volume: 1 of 222," and iTunes and my computer froze immediately. This has happened every single time I've tried to open iTunes since. I'm kind of at a loss for what to do, because once I open iTunes, I literally can't do anything except shut down my computer. Any ideas??

I had that problem too. Maybe it works when you change your Bitrate in Itunes. My Bluetooth speakers run at 48 Khz and after the Itunes update, Itunes changed his settings to 44.1 kHz (before the update it was also 48kHz). I hope i could help you. Sorry for bad english i'm from Germany

Sound card problem: shpchp not found at boot

Whenever I boot up, about half way though, a the hotplugging section, I believe, I get the following error:
...Can't load module shpchp
Missing kernel of user mode driver shpchp.
Then there is a looooong pause, and I get this error. Twice.
...Can't load module snd-cs4232
Missing kernel of user mode driver snd-cs4232.
Then I get this error like 50 times:
...Can't load module snd-cs4236
Missing kernel of user mode driver snd-cs4236.
Then I get the same error, but with snd-wavefront. Then It goes back to the cs232 and repeats the cycle two or three times. Needless to say, sound does not work at all.
I cannot modprobe shpchp or any of the otehr drivers, whenever I do (as root) I get a "No such device" message.
Help!

DON'T expect hotlpug to work with ISA soundcards or any other ISA device. It won't be able to. ISA is old and bad, there is normally no automatic hardware detection whatsoever. People had to tell their operating systems where the card was all the time before PCI became popular. However, that is not a reason not to run hotplug. For all stuff that the operating system can detect and configure automatically it works pretty fine, at least for me.
