Sound in clip is gone. Why?

I made my demo reel and all of a sudden in one of the clips you can barely hear the sound. All of the other clips are fine except this one. When I try to import the same clip from my dv camera into a new imovie project you cant hear the dialogue. But you can hear the dialogue on the camera. What can I do?

How do I relink audio and sound mxf clips brought into Premiere CC. Didn't have this problem in CS5.5 so unsure why they unlink in CC.

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done. Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

Try plugging your earphones in and remove them again. Do that a few times ... Plugin and uplug ... and see if the sound comes back for the speakers.

How do i extend a sound-effect clip???

Just wanted to find out how can i extend the durarion of a sound-effect clip that i imported into F.C.P. The clip can't extend past 10 sec, so I thought the best way to do it is to loop it but i don't know how.

I have already done that. I put several duplicates of the same clip in a row, but there's a clear break between each clip. For example, the sound-effect clip is rain; so if i copy, paste it and put it after the original you can hear the break between the clips.
There's a way to fix that, i know, by putting audio cross fades between each clip, which works, but as you can tell is a hassle.
I just thought there's was a much easier and faster way of looping the short clip so that you can constantly hear it (without any breaks) for a longer period of time.

There are separate volume levels for each device and also a master volume level.

If you've activated FileVault, only the users that were authorized to unlock the startup volume will appear in the pre-startup authentication dialog. Once the system has started up, all users will appear in the login dialog.
To authorize more users after the volume has been encrypted, select the FileVault tab in the Security & Privacy preference pane. Click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click Enable Users...
You should only enable users whom you trust implicitly with all data on the system, not just their own data.

Sound on clips gets deleted after quiting FCP X, why?

Sound on some clips I imported from my GoPro gets deleted after I have quit the program and go back to it. However, in the FCP X events folder, the original media still has the sound in the clip. I do not understand why this is happening.
Does anybody have any advice?

One slight point about Patrick's info.
Since version 10.0.3, FCP X has been able to edit multicam and most people agree that it does so in a far superior and easy way.
I would also suggest that as a beginner you completely ignore the "Help" menu as it can be very confusing.

Speaker icon is gone. why did everyone lose their sound 9/17?

I am using windows 7 on CQ57-339WM. I did install (malware byte) yesterday. This was in effort to remove FUNMOODS which is the biggest garbage and intrusive to my system.Now, My speaaker icon has totally vanished.
Can anyone help get my speaker icon back and help me permanently block Funmoods. I have uninstalled, added malware, and it still somehow creeps back onto my computer

Right click in the task bar near the time display and you will get a pop up menu.
Click on properties. Under Notification Area Click Customize select Show icon and notifications
Under system icons to always show, check volume.
Click Apply.
Also, if you don't want inactive icons to be hidden, make sure that box is not checked.

Premier Pro is slowing the audio of a clip over time why?

There is nothing wrong with the clip I look at it online before i download it and even when I download it the sound syncs up perfectly with the video, however when i bring the clip into premier pro and play it the sound starts off once again perfectly in sync, however by the end of the clip the sound it completely out of sync with the picture. when i go to export the video as a sequence it does the same thing where the clip starts out fine, but over time becomes out of sync. what is Premier doing and why?

I don't understand why there wasn't a prompt to ask what I wanted to do, when my phone was plugged into my bfs computer. My BB always asked what I wanted to do, and in order to answer, I had to unlock my phone. I lost everything, from pics of us cutting down our tree, which was actually the top of a 17ft tree, and us holding it after we had trimmed it to the size we wanted... All pics of our holidays & New Years, which was our first year we got to spend it together, so they were really special to me. I have had my issues with not being able to go in the middle of a word, to correct spelling, and not having the keyboard like the torch, but I was trying my best to learn to love the iPhone, like anyone I know who has one, had told me I would come to love it. I am completely devastated over this, and I can not understand how this could have happened. Shouldn't I of had a prompt, asking me to restore my phone??? Something to notify me of what was going to happen...Anything, but it went ahead and changed my phone over, which even has the background/wallpaper choices of the iPhone5. I lost all my contacts, and my notes??? I have health problems and kept a record of everything, which I have done with my blackberry, and its all gone...every bit of it:( All my apps had my bfs AppleID and had to change all of that, and to my surprise, all my reminders came back the day after. How could this possibly have happened to me??? I had a lock on my phone, and if anything, I thought the iPhone would be the same as the blackberry when it came to that, but even better, and I was wrong, but I paid for my poor lack of judgement...to me, the price I paid for it, I will never forget it. When I saw the reminders had come back, I thought there may be a chance of recovering the rest of the data I lost on my phone....well, I am hoping, praying, there is a way to retrieve it all.
If anyone can help me with this, please, please, please, I would soooooo appreciate it...it means the world to me, and if its possible to do, I'll stay with iPhone:)

There was a prompt. It asked if you wanted to set it up as a new phone or restore from a backup. You, or someone, selected "Restore from Backup".
What were you backing it up to before you did this? If your computer, plug it in to your computer and restore.
If iCloud, go to Settings>General>Resets>Reset All Content and Settings. When it goes through the setup, tell it to restore it from your iCloud backup.
If nothing, then the content of your phone is gone.

I have a complicated problem. I had an iphone 5. It was a prepaid number. I dropped it and the screen was black. I plugged it up and recharged it...tried to reset it and still just black screen. I could hear the alerts and it would ring but I couldn't answer it. I had backed it up about a month ago. Well my father got me a new iphone 6 and added me to his verizon plan. They gave me a new number but when I put in my apple id and password, my contacts showed up and a couple of pictures. Well today, I hooked up my new phone to my laptop and it loaded all the stuff...photos, texts,wallpaper...to my new phone. But my problem is that I had some new text messages just from this past week of using my new phone and now they are gone. I had some texts from my son who just went to boot camp a couple weeks ago that I really want back....is there anyway I can get those? Why did they go away? Is there anything I can do? Layering sounds = volume clips. A simple way to normalize the sounds?

I am wondering if there is some way to "normalize" the sounds automatically if I am layering a sound. For example:
Patch 1: a single piano (0db)
Patch 2: a single piano layered with strings(+3db)
Patch 3: a single piano layered with strings and pad(+6db)
The problem is that the second or third patch is way louder than the first. I'm playing live in a band and it is very annoying to correct the main-output volume every time we play the second or third patch.
If I layer more sounds to it it obviously gets even more saturated and finally the audio even clips. Do you have to change the volumes(gain?) every time on each channel strip (by fader) if you layer (add) more channelstrips to it or do you change the output of the AU-instrument itself on the second or third channelstrip?

Each fader is a volume, or gain, control. Adjust these faders to get the correct balance between the channel strips. Once this has been done, you should not need to adjust this again.

It depends on the type of music I am performing. If I am playing electronic music, I make adjustments all the time. I use my MIDI controller or the MIDI volume control from my guitar to change volumes. Also, I use my MIDI controller to change various settings on my synths; anything from wave shape to resonance, cut-off, ASDR etc.
Q3: The main volume of the mac, do you put it at 100%?
I start with the output volume set to silence and raise the volume to suit the venue. This could be anything between -18dB & +3dB. Usually, my out volume is set between -10dB & 0dB.
Remember, if you add extra instruments to your initial keyboard sound, you will increase the overall volume of that patch. If you wish to maintain the same output level for all the patches, you will have to lower the volumes of all the instruments in the patch by a small amount, probably 1.5 - 2.0 dB on each channel strip.
Once this has been done, you should not need to change any volumes when you change patches. You will have to spend some time getting the balance right. It will help the sound if each channel strip is panned to one side or the other. e.g. keyboard 0; strings -10; pad +10. The audience will hear each instrument more clearly that way, thus making them sound louder in the mix.
There are many solutions to your problem. I have given you a few that I have used successfully in the past.
