Sound in My HP Compaq Laptop

My compaq Laptop plays sound through the microphone jack i.e when I plug in my earpiece, brings sound, but when i remove the ear piece, no sound.
Please How can I rectify this problem, thanks.

I gather that you have sound when you connect head phones but not on the internal speakers.
When I checked Compaq Presario C700 CTO Notebook Software and Drivers, I noticed Windows 7 was not a supported Operating System. I am not sure if that is your exact model as you only provided the series.
As Windows 7 has not been tested on your notebook the outcome is unknown, however it may work just fine.

I ran the first aid in the Keychain both for verification and for repair and both immediately returned with "no problems found".
As for the certificate, according the web administrator nothing had changed for the certificates.
even on the windows laptop I also get the certificate as being expired, but by simply accepting that I still have access.
I had a pop up every time that alerted me to the certificate issue, but whether I "continued" or not that still did not matter.
Yesterday, in an effort to find a solution, I went into the "details" and entered to trust this website.
Now that certificate issue does not pop up anymore. But I do not know how to reverse that either.
I have the feeling indeed it has something to do with a certificate, but how is the question.

How do i get my surround sound to work with my laptop while using a hdmi cable for the video

I have a Sony surround sound system hooked up that works great. My X-Box 360 works with it and I can get my HP G60 to play audio files through the surround sound system with a red and white audio jack plugged into the back of my surround sound receiver, the red and white audio cord goes to a 3.5mm headphone jack that i plug into the headphone plug on the front of my computer. The problem occurs when I hook my HDMI cable into my computer and connect it to my Samsung Flat screen, the HDMI sound takes over and wont allow the sound to go through the headphone jack. My tv does not have any audio output plugs, and my suround sound reciever doesnt have an HDMI input. Is there a setting on the computer that will allow me to over ride the HDMI sound and direct the sound through the head phones? or is there an app or tool that will allow my laptop to recognize my suround sound system plugged into my laptop? I have been to best buy, walmart, radio shack and even my local car audio store to ask about this issue and everyone has a different solution, and so far none of them have worked???????? sincerley frustrated! please help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Select sound.
Select speakers as default.
Click OK.

Compaq Laptop as monitor for a Mac Mini

I was wondering if it would be able to use a Compaq laptop as a monitor for a Mac Mini because I want to be able to easily switch between Mac and PC for as cheap as possible I would like to use the laptop as a monitor for the Mini.

this is not possible. However, you can use VNC to control your mini from your Compaq. If this is an option for you depends on the intended use for your mini.

Hi. I sure hope someone can help me. I have a compaq laptop running vista which i have reformatted and reinstalled vista successfully.
i thought i was using the install disc that came with the laptop but it appears that I have used a Dell disc!! so now i dont have any drivers at all, and the wireless function is not working, and if i plug the laptop in manually, I still cannot get online.
What should I do?

Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX Little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop

Compaq Laptop CQ60-615DX white light next to where you plug in the power cable keeps blinking. Never stops Blinking. Computer doesn't power on.
The DC jack is loose, took the laptop apart, pressed down on the dc jack to hold it in place, and stuck the power cable back in. Tried to wiggle the cable around to see if the jack is bad. But it feels pretty solid, it's just the housing holding the dc jack in place that's broken.
But I'm still getting the little white light beside the dc jack blinking repeatedly non-stop. No system power.
Question is.
1. Is the DC power jack bad and needs to be replaced or.
2. There is a short in the motherboard and the motherboard needs to be replaced.
I have check all over the internet for what the white light blinking means. I've found no answer.
Could someone please tell me what is wrong with this computer?

2. After Removing all the parts you can use a brush to remove all the dust inside your laptop. After cleaning all the dirt inside the laptop you need to let the motherboard cool for 1 to 1.5 hrs.
3. When you put the dc jack dont put the battery. So once you plugged the DC jack you can see if the light beside the jack still blinking or steady.
4. Once the light is steady., you can now power on your laptop. and a message will appear that your laptop overheated.
5. You can use cooling fan to prevent from heating.
6. Clean the parts inside your laptop every half year. to remove dust that cause the exhaust fan not to work properly.
Now I was able to use my laptop again.

If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
The iPod should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Select it there. To the right, its Summary screen is shown. Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary. Click on Music next to Summary. This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs ot the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. This is the switch to enable automatic syncing. If your iTunes music library fits on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Then select what you want on the iPod from the lists below.
Click Apply to intiate automatic syncing between that iTunes library and your iPod (based on how the iPod's Music screen is set up in iTunes).

INSTALLING WIN 7 ON HP NX6320 INCLUDING SOUND
The biggest hurdle has been installing from CD when the setup file conveniently forgets USB and CD drives.
Use the HP recovery discs to get XP back up and running, then shut down. If you did not make Recovery Discs use Spotmau or Clonezilla to make a backup image of the recovery partition.
If you don't have the recovery discs, then shove any XP on there. There's no need to worry about registration because it's only going to be there for about an hour.
Reboot with Spotmau (my favorite) or Clonezilla and shrink the XP partition. You're aiming for 50GB or thereabouts.
Reboot XP and using disc manager create and format a volume in the unused space. (D
Load your Win 7 disc in the optical drive and open in file view, NOT autorun.
Copy all files and folders to your newly created D:drive.
Run SETUP from D:drive. Select options to completely overwrite. You don't care about backing up the XP installation.
In my case, the nx6320 went straight online and downloaded a variety of drivers without my assistance. This included sound.
For the benefit of other users, I've backed up many of the drivers, including those that could be overlooked: memory reader slot, PCMCIA, 1394 etc.
I haven't yet made sufficient posts to be able to send PMs to anyone. If people want to PM me with an email address, I'll happily forward the drivers I've backed up.
Advice on configuration:
Once Win 7 is running, disc management allows you to resize, create and delete partitions "on the fly".
Leave your C: partition alone.
Delete all other partitions (if you backed up the XP recovery partition, now is not the time you need it)
Create at least three new partitions, A:, D: and R: (My example is 250G drive: 50G for OS on Cystem, 75G for A:Applications, 75G Data 50G R:recovery)
Now go and do all your personal setups; screen res, colors, power management, network connections etc. and go out for a night on the town while some 700+ updates are downloaded.
Shut down and reboot Spotmau. Create an image of the Cystem partition to R:Recovery
Reboot into Win 7 and whenever you install software that allows you to define the location, change it to A:. I had an entire machine crash because of a power glitch. With the Applications partition you can recover Windows, and on A:Applications, you have folder lists to remind you what needs to be reinstalled.
Once you have a stable running machine, again make an image C:system to R:recovery. If the OS crashes like mine did, a single recovery will put it back in its place with all the right registry entries for the applications installed on A:

I have been keeping my eyes open to see the Compaq laptop back in stock at my bestbuy (the Parma OH location, area code 44129). However, these haven't been in stock for a long time. my friend has this laptop and i've been checking since school start at the beginning of the month and they aren't in stock. I am looking in the under $450 range and need a laptop that has Vista Home Premium, and good enough specs to run Photoshop & a few games like Peggle Deluxe (NOT big games)
I would get the new Acer that's displayed, but it is only Single-Core and I hear that it's slow.
The Compaq would be perfect for my uses, and price range. Now the last few days it's showing as an outlet item...
Any details on more coming to the Parma OH store? or something very similar to it in my price range?

My Compaq laptop will not restore back to Vista

So I had a Compaq laptop that I got back in 2008 with Vista preinstalled. In 2012, I decided to try out Windows 8 Consumer Preview to see how well it was compared to Vista. Unofrunately, 8 was less satisfying than Vista, and I recently tried to revert back to Vista using the system restore utility. I backed up all my software, and when I ran the system restore partition, it failed and gave me this error message.
Then when I boot the system, it gives me this message
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Compaq Laptop Clicking Noises

Hello,
I have a compaq laptop I do not know what make. I have had it for three years now and all of a sudden it is making ticking noises.
The noises appear to be coming from the speakers, it continues if i mute it and when i have headphones in the noise comes from the speakers still. The noise is constant, when you position the laptop in a new place it stops temporarily and then starts again.

Shutdown the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.

The sound is distorted on my laptop?

The sound is distorted on my laptop, this has been since I have transferred photos and videos to it. I have run a sound and audio check but nothing was found.

Please check if the iRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver) needs to be undated as described here.
