Sound in wave files not working

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion on my Mac email attachments such as videos - sound no longer working.
Sound in iTunes etc still works fine.
Using mail as my email program.
I welcome suggestions.

i got it installed and working correctly after alot of work. Its ok except the sound when playing my demos in various program in winamp, sound forge or some games has like a skipping sound here and there. Any suggestions to this, i have reinstalled directx9b and it solved the sound from being terrible but other than that still not really acceptable for my music producing and editing.

  • Pause/Play Wav Files Not working with timeline

OK, I'm going crazy here. I have imported a WAV file into my
Flash timeline. I have a button that pauses the timeline, and also
stops all sound. But... when I click on the play button to continue
the movie, the sound is no longer present. It's as if the timeline
only recognizes the first frame of audio, even within the source
file if I put the cursor anywhere besides the first frame of audio,
    it does not play.
    Any help desperately needed

I almost have you. The code provided, I guess I would put
that on the frame where I redrop my wave file (that I did all the
    link changes to as described).
Also, in conjunction with the code provided, do I need to
also put codes in for my buttons, or will that script you provided
    take place of such.
Also, the code you provided, am I to put my own information
in there, or is it set to go as is.
I will only have a play button and a stop button. Just a
simple a play and stop action for each. Also, I didn't give an
instance name for each button, just default as is.
Almost there! I'm excited, thanks for help and hopefully more

If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, the drivers are downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant. If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk.

I had a repair done on my MacBook Pro and had to have a new hard drive installed. The Apple Auth Repair Shop then updated the OS from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. Now my iPhoto v 9.2.3 will not open and it sounds like it will not work with this OS. Can you please advise?

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Sound on iPad is not working and I've tried all

sound on iPad is not working and I've tried all.. Someone HELP me

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

same issue here... And a restore didn't do any good either.
Try backing up your information to iTunes, and Restore your devices as new with no content on it what-so-ever. If the issue persists after that, this may be a hardware issue. Check your Mic's for debris, and remove the case you have on the device as well to see if you have the same results. Then contact Apple Support if all else fails.

  • Sound media (.wav) file no longer working

Is there a place where you can get a list of media types that are supported in 1.3, specifically .wav files? I need 1.3 rather than 1.2 as the .wav sound file I am using worked in 1.2, but now doesn't :-(
MediaError: media unsupported:com.sun.media.jmc.MediaUnsupportedException: Unsupported media: jar:file:/C:/dev/cmts/dist/cmts.jar!/cmts/applic/resources/buzzer.wav
It happens in the onError() function of javafx.scene.media.Media.
I used to get lovelly buzzer sounds and now there is only silence. Should I convert the file to another format? If anyone has any recommendations on the way to proceed that would be great.
    thanks - Chris

It's like if suddendly Adobe would decide that it is impossible to put sound, soundtracks or movies into a SWF. Or as I when I bought Mass Effect Galaxy (not a good game by the way) on the Apple App Store, instead of installling a wooping 110MB+ on my ipod Touch, instead EA and Bioware would have had me streaming the Mass Effect music and the game 's small video and voice acting sequence out of their web site each time I was playing... that would have been laughable.. especially considering the speed of the Internet over there...
Furthermore it's not a technical limitation or they'd have to seriously decrease the capabilities of the JVM by the time Java 7 comes out.
I just hope that someone (JFXtras) would come up with a new Media implementation using the good old ClassPath access to overcome this "but how did they came up with that crazy idea" limitation.
Yes in some case streaming is good but yes in some other cases, providing a fully enclosed packaged app is way better. We want both options!

Source data lines don't play the file when you open them, you have to manually read data from the AudioInputStream and write it to the SourceDataLine...and you're not doing that.
You essentially walked into the bathroom, lifted the toilet seat and unzipped your pants...and wondered why the toilet wasn't making that "I'm peeing" sound. It's because you didn't start actually moving urine from your bladder to the toilet...

  • .wav file not recognized in Premiere 8

I am trying to edit a video for which I am using a .wav audio file for the audio.  I have done this before with no problem.  Now Premiere tells me it does not recognize the .wav media file, and may be missing a codec.
When I go back to other projects I have done this way before, I find that I can't open the audio portion of ANY of them.  On the project, the audio line shows, but is flat-lined.
Have I lost something.  FYI, I am combining audio from concerts (recorded on Pro-tools and bounced to a .wav file) with video of the same concerts recorded on two video cameras.  Then, I combine and synchronize to create a finished video with good sound and picture.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Thad Reynolds

    Thad,
    Welcome to the forum.
With PCM/WAV, the Audio is not compressed, so this should not be a CODEC issue. One thing to note is that there is also LPCM/WAV, and for some reason, a few of the Adobe products have issues with the LPCM, where the PCM version causes no issues.
I'd just run one of the WAV files through G-Spot (PC-only), or MediaInfo (PC, or Mac), and see what it says about the files.
I also assume that you are on the Mac, considering that you mention ProTools. Is that correct?
Were the older Projects, also with WAV files, created on the Mac, or perhaps another computer?
In very general terms, PrE should work perfectly with PCM/WAV files at 48KHz 16-bit. These are uncompressed files, and are the native format for Audio in PrE.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Sound question - it's not working!

Hi all - novice flash user here -
Was working on a file in Flash 8 Professional. I imported a
WAV file to the library, made a new layer w/keyframe on the
timeline, and dragged the wav file from the library to the stage.
The first few times I tested the movie (CRTL+enter), the WAV
file played fine...but at some point, the sound stopped working. I
can't figure out why! The sound file plays fine if I test it from
the library; if I hit "enter" to run the movie from the stage, the
sound plays when the playhead starts moving; but if I publish or
test the thing, the sound goes away. I can't figure out what I did.
In the Properties panel, the sync is set to "stream;" also, I went
back and made sure that the layer containing the sound had enough
frames to fit the entire sound file. I tried deleting a bunch of
layers just in case there are memory issues of some sort, but that
wasn't it either; I also made sure that the "mute sounds" command
wasn't checked. Not sure what else I should try.
I tried playing some files that I created in the past and the
sound works fine on those - but when I created a 2-layer test file
using the problem WAV, the issue resurfaced. I tried re-importing
it, but that did nothing - and, as I mentioned, the thing plays
fine when I test it from the library or when I move the playhead
around in the .fla file. I was just reading back thru the forums
and found some mention of sound problems resulting from
inconsistencies in the audio output frequency, so maybe that's what
I'll look into next - but there really is nothing that I did
outside of Flash (like installing new software, changing system
settings, etc.) that would cause this.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks! -
    Ali

I discovered a similar problem. My sounds play fine in the
authoring environment, but when I view them in a browser(IE). The
    audio files don't work.
I think it might be an issue with Player 9. I went back into
my 'Publish' settings in Flash 8 and change the player version back
to 7 instead of 8 and the audio works fine when viewing in a
browser with the player 9 plugin.
I believe the authoring enironment (debugger) version is 8...
that's why it works inside of Flash.
