Sound indicators moving but no sounds coming out

My sound was working fine yesterday, but today I can see the sound indicator meter moving up and down, but no noise is coming out. I am using my new pavilion g6-1b70us notebook pc,

I have just encountered the same problem.  I updated the BIOS and a few other things at the prompting of the HP Support Assistant and now no sound comes out of my speakers or my headphones.  I can also see the sound indicator moving.  I am using a new Pavilion g6-1b00 Notebook PC.  It was working fine a few hours ago, and now nothing.
I talked to HP support and after trying several different things that didn't work (reinstalling audio driver, system restore, couldn't undo BIOS update) the support guy suggested a reset to factory settings.  I'd really rather not do that, as I don't have an external harddrive to move my data to at the moment.  I'd love to see a different solution to this problem.

Help, i am trying to print my JPEG file that i created in photoshop at a photo lab but it is coming out like an X-ray. I have printed these files before so i have no idea what i am doing wrong.
Could it be something i have done in my settings?
or when i am saving the file to JPEG?

Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level.

  • For 1/11/11 expert day: can hear sounds on headphones but no sound via the internal speakers

HP Pavilion dv6135nr Notebook internal speakers have stopped working.  I can hear sounds on headphones but no sound via the internal speakers.  A search on HP customer care for my notebook yielded the download recommendation below, even though I had not stated my problem.  However, executing this download did NOT resolve the problem.  Please advise regarding resolution to inoperable speakers.  I do not know if all of my sound and audio settings are correct, but the mute is not on and the volume controls are properly set.  The default device is Conexant High Definition Audio output, per the sound and audio devices properties hardware  tab the device status states "this device is working properly."  Is it possible that a Skype or Foxfire update is in conflict with this device?  If so, how do I resolve this situation?
    Thank you.

Re: Fixes issue where the notebook speakers do not work after headphones or earphones are used for a while and then unplugged.
HOW DO YOU FIX THIS?? I cannot find the correct Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio that works with my computer...
    My computer:
    VISTA
    HP Compaq 2230s Notebook PC
Everytime I use my headphones for more than an hour or two, the **bleep** audio will not play on my notebook's speakers, just through the headphones. Usually restarting a few times resolves the problem, but not this time. If I knew that HP computers sucked this much I would never have spent so much money on this one!!!
Can you please tell me how to fix this problem once and for all? Thanks!!

    Hi,
It may be worth trying another burning application to see if this helps the issue.
Download and install the free utility, ImgBurn and use this to create the DVD.  Guides on using this to burn to single layer and dual layer discs are below.

I am using iMac OS 10.7.2 with Garageband'11 6.0.4. I can't record sound from  mixer Behringer X1622USB using USB out. when I connect the mixer to iMac via USB  appears USB Audio CODEC on Sound and Preferences but I can't get no sound from mixer to iMac only sound from iMac to mixer. I only can record sound using microphone line in. Please help.

    Eric,
Thanks for your reply. Realtek audio works only in playback. There is a stereo mix in the mixer but the recording controls are not operable with no sliders in the mixer for any recording option. Slider controls appear to be grayed out. Can't figure out how to enable them. Downloaded newest drivers to no avail.
The M Audio control panel has no apparent option for recording stereo mix. Adobe ignores the sound from the DVD or CD and shows flatline.
I'm trying to record the sound from the DVD not rip the track.
When I go to Audio Driver Setup and select Audition 3.0 windows sound, there is no input device installed.
I'm thinking of going back to a decent internal Soundblaster card like I have on my 8 year old machine I am replacing.

  • No sound on ringer, but app sounds work

    Hello,
A few days ago, my iphone started vibrating randomly throughout the day, and when it did, the ringer dots would show up on the screen (without me having pressed anything).  Later that night, the ringer totally stopped ringing when a call would come through.  It will vibrate, but no sound at all.  Same with texts- it just vibrates.  The volume buttons on the side of the phone no longer repond, neither does the mute slider button.
ALL sounds on apps work.  When I go to sound settings, the ringer is on full volume and I can hear it give me a sample of the volume as well.
I find it odd that the app sounds work, but not the ringer or texts.  Does that mean it could be a software problem, or internal hardware problem?
I have reset the whole iphone, restored it, to no avail.

    wanted to edit,
I didn't realize, but the app sounds DO NOT work.  Only music and Youtube and Netflix have sound

  • My video recording sounds not working but other sounds are working fine, I've tried clearing the little mic thing near my earphone hole and had no success can someone please help me out?

    hhi guys
my video recording sounds not working at all but it's working for other things such as music. I've tried to clear my sound thing near the earphone hole but had no success can someone please help me out?

Had an Iphone 4 for about 3 months now. This happened to the first one I had and they ended up having to replace it at the apple store just a couple weeks ago 6/2. It happened again last night to my new one. This time i was able to correct it by going to itunes, backing up the phone to icloud, and then restoring the software. Mine did not work with voice memo, but did work with headphones plugged in, and would also work on speaker. I could hear callers but they couldn't hear me. I had purchased a new case (lifeproof case at $79.99) because it comes with plugs that cover the headphone jack, and the charging port, and is also waterproof. I heard that the root cause is due to lint, dirt, etc getting inside the headphone jack. Well, must be something else. It's a 10 days old phone, and has been in this overpriced case the whole time, and I have not used the headphones. I hope this doesn't keep happening.

  • Unbalanced sound with 2 speakers - almost all coming out the left spea

My Audigy SE card with 2 speakers (one Altec Lansing with the amp in and the other a decent 6 ohm Infiniti) puts nearly all the sound out of the left speaker (the Infiniti). I couldn't find a balance control in the Creative mixer and had to go back to control panel sound to crank the balance wildly to the right. I realise the speakers aren't matched but they worked just fine until I re-installed Windows and all my Creative software last week.
I haven't tried recording yet but I hope that will be in balance.
CRIKEY! While I was typing, the right speaker suddenly cranked itself up. Bit odd. Just in case this is a Creative problem, I will post it anyway.

Did you ever fix this problem? I have the exact same thing happening to my sound.
All the sound comes from the left in stereo sound. I plugged the green stereo analog speakers into the other pin the blackone for 4. setting on my SBLi've24 allthe others play fron t left back left and back right but the front right is so soft like a whisper.
So the speakers work. Im running a Xp mediaedition system. It happened after an apparent sound conflict that made an electronic popping sound which got progressi'vely worse until i figured out how to reset the car d in the Bios level. I have done evrything but reformat the hard dri've All tests say the hardware is working but still no front right channel. Help please

  • Sound input fine, but no sound?

I have a Mac Mini 2,0Ghz and have a DVD-player's audio output plugged into the sound input of the Mini (RCA>3,5mm plug). The Mini's sound output is connected to my stereo. I can play iTunes songs without problems. Now I want to listen to an external source.
I look in sound preferences on the Input tab and I see the Input Level bar indicating sound input, I pause the DVD and the bar stops fluctuating, fine so far. I make sure that the output volume is adequate and then I turn on the stereo, but there is no sound. I mak sure that there is sound by checking with iTunes, I can hear the songs.
Do I have to switch over to the Input selection or something to hear the sound from the DVD-player? I come from using Windows and there you'd have to enable the input.
How do I get output from the input?

Audio input has to go to an application. Most applications that use audio input will have a passthrough mode (e.g. QuickTime Pro has a passthrough volume control in its recording window). LineIn is nothing but passthrough.
It's like the keyboard. Nothing happens if you type with no application listening. Whether or not the typing shows on the screen is up to the application (e.g. Terminal will not show anything while you enter a password).

  • Stylewriter II printing, but no ink coming out

    Hi all,
I've been using my trusty SWII on my iBook G4 using CUPS and Foomatic. It has been great for years, but now, a problem has arisen. Recently, when the ink cartridge ran out, I bought a new one and now the printer still acts as if there is no ink (prints blank sheets of paper).
As I am not using the original drivers, I don't know how to clean the heads, or even if that's the problem. Any ideas?? I'm a teacher and REALLY don't have the money to go buy a new printer.
    HELP!
    Sam

On HP-style inkjet printers, of which the stylewriter is one, the ink cartridges and nozzles are one assembly, replaced as a unit. If you remove the ink cartridge, you also remove the nozzles where the ink is supposed to squirt out. The nozzles are where the dampness should be applied.
On Epson-style printers, what is replaced is only the ink reservoirs, and the non-replaceable nozzles stay inside the printer.
You must use an inkjet printer regularly. If you do not, the ink dries up and you are facing "tricks" or an expensive cartridge replacement just to get it going again. That is why I will take a laser printer over an inkjet any day. Let the laser Printer sit in a classroom unused, all summer, and on the first day of school it fires up and prints without a hiccup.

  • Sound through headphones, but no sound from internal speakers

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook running Windows 7 Home Premium
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC stwrt64.sys driver, version 6.10.6276
Intel Display audio IntcDAud.sys driver, version 6.12.0.3034

    Hi,
    Try the following.
First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
Next, download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46505.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • 1610 printing stays on the screen but nothing is coming out

My PSC 1610c had what I believe was a power surge yesterday.  The screen runs and says"used black ink cart installed, press ok.  Use dtri-color ink cart installed, plress OK"  I did that and it seemed find, until I clicked on print to print a document.
The green light next to the ON button is flashing and so is the exclamatino point.  Iin addition the screeen says printing, but it isn't. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and this still happens.  The only way to shut it off is too unplug my printer, and then I also lose my que.
    Help anyone?
    Thanks, Pamela

My 1610 just started doing pretty much the same thing.  I set my lap top on it and a button or button's were pressed, everything was perfect until then.  Have set it back to factory defaults, nothing helps keep getting "error printing".  After stutting down & powering up I get an error message on the printer display
"no tech mode".  I'd reinstall the HP software if only I could find the CD.

  • Why do spkrs sound in iTunes but other apps only sound thru earphones?

Strangeness.I have great sound from iTunes, but no sound from any other app, and no ringer from my phone. I have tried drying out the earphone socket with a hairdryer, and plugging/unplugging while listening to an iTunes song - all to no avail. I have checked al my settings, and all I can find are set to make sounds heard. Now I am flummoxed.
    Any more ideas?

I found an answer. Somehow, my otterbox defender has been opened and the MUTE button was switched. Since I am the only one who uses my phone, and I never opened the case, I am not sure how it got switched ... but that was the whole problem! SOLVED!!!!!

  • I have my earbuds plugged in but the music is also coming out of the ipod speaker.  this happened before but i dont remember how i fixed it, ideas?

earbuds plugged in but music still coming out of the speaker.  happened before but i dont remember how i fixed it?

    Hey Nick,
The first thing I would check is to make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in.  It may require an extra amount of force to get them to click and pop all the way in.
If that isn't the case, try a hard reset of your iPod.  How you do that depends on what model iPod you have.  See your iPod's User Guide for more assistance, or use this page to help locate your model and then troubleshoot your iPod from there.
