Sound input issues.  Not related to Soundflower or Balance issues

So.  With the sound flower issues fixed.  And my balance knobs in place for my stereo speakers.  I have opened up a new song I have been writing.  Again the AVIGrandpiano app was the track I was recording on.  Like my previous post from last week the input on the new music was very faint and not at all matching the input of the previous recorded music.  (See Screenshot on earlier posts)
I am at a loss as to where to begin to fix this.

  • IChat video connection issue, not related to router

I received a brand new 20" iMac Core 2 Duo just yesterday and intended to use iChat AV to video conference with my girlfriend, who has a 12" iBook G4 1.2GHz with an iSight and all system software up-to-date.
We both have DSL connections at home. We also both have wireless routers. The very first time we tried a video conference, it worked perfectly without a hiccup and everything just looked and sounded wonderful. At the time, she was connected wirelessly and I was connected both wirelessly and through Ethernet to my router's local network.
The second time we tried it (only a few hours later), seemingly without having changed any settings, it failed to work, and hasn't worked since. At first, we would get Error -22, saying something about how bandwidth is insufficient to maintain a video conference. However, I do not believe bandwidth is the real issue since all other network/internet tasks on both ends are spiffy as usual. We also both tried turning off Airport and just connecting through Ethernet to our routers' local network. Same problem.
To then determine if the problem was with one our routers, we both set them aside and plugged our DSL modems directly into our computers and connected to the internet with PPPoE. This appears to partially fix the problem: we are able to initiate a video conference, we both have audio, I can see her, but she can't see me; sort of a one-sided conference. On my screen, the image of myself freezes as soon as the conference is initiated. So unless I'm missing something, the ultimate cause of this problem doesn't appear to be the routers.
You can bet I tried a bunch of the common tips mentioned in this discussion forum before posting this question, such as changing the iChat port in the preferences, turning off Firewalls in the Sharing preferences and changing Quicktime streaming speed.
In summary, it worked once and hasn't worked since, and routers do not appear to be the cause of the issue. Does anyone have any further advice for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
    iMac 20" Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

First off I want to thank James for his willingness to help me test connections today. James has suggested I check into upping my Mother's connection. I will definitely look into that.
I wanted to update the thread that I tried the three test accounts at Apple (appleu3test01-3) and had success from all three on my home computer via my wireless configuration no less. This is what stumps me about my connection issues with my Mother - we can both connect to others but between us we get error -8's since iChat 3. I also find it odd that this is happening even though we are both Earthlink customers - I would chalk it up to routing tables or something if we were on different ISP's.

  • Sound Input will not stay put!

    Hi, if i go to
    System Preferences>Sound>
and change the input level to my desired choice for my built in mic on my imac g5 isight, well, the level will not stay the same.
I constantly use Ichat, and use the audio chat feature with a few friends.
And it bugs me cause I have to go to change my preferences every single time.
Is there a cure for this.
I would trash the sound prefereces p.list , but im not sure which one it is.
Anyone , can you shed some light on , a
small issue, but important to me.
    thanks

I will need to select character by character with Hanin, while with Zhuyin, the system will render suggestions.
This page has some info on Hanin that may be helpful in doing more characters at once:

  • Two issues not related about OSX.6.7 on MacBook Pro 2.8Ghz 17", 8 GB RAM

    Issue number one:
Just purchased (Feb22 2011) a MacBook 17" Pro 2.8 Ghz i7 Processor, 8 GB system RAM, 500 GB SATA Hard Drive. It was Replacement for a PowerBook 17".
I'm finding the keyboard on my new computer, not nearly as responsive as on my old PowerBook.
One thing it appears that the keyboard on my new computer is same type of keypad as a TV remote where they have a rubber membrane that have little pencil led carbon dots applied. If so it will be worn out within a Year or need to be taken apart and the board cleaned as long as the button. Most Remotes are worn out and need repairs or replacement within a year to 18 months. whereas my old computer has a real mechanical key switch type keyboard.
I am finding that that Ican actually type faster than the keyboard can keep up with and cause no end of editing for misspellings.
Second Issue: When on the Internet I notice that connection takes forever to respond.
I use several DNS number parts That I switch out, one from my ISP. One Pair from "OpenDNS" and one set from Google DNS. I notice when get in this rut of taking forever to respond. IF I quit and switch DNS settings Then restart. Everything Flies.
Doesn't make a difference what Browser or Email Client I use. IT act like there is a Kick Start when I do this.
Browsers and Email Clients I use:
    SeaMonkey
    FireFox
    Camino
    Safari
    Postbox
    Opera
    OmniWeb
    iCab
Seems like some cache file get to a limit then fails at a certain point.and when you switch DNS number pair it kicks out that old cacahe and starts over.
Any suggestions on either or both Problems.

Have you changed your Apple Menu - System Preferences - Keyboard & Mouse settings?

  • Edirol UA-25EX Sound Input not working after 10.6.6 upgrade

    Hello,
I am using an Edirol UA-25EX sound card for sound input (mike) and output.
Since I upgraded to 10.6.6, sound input is not working anymore.
I tried to unplug / replug. I tried to reboot. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Edirol's driver for Snow Leopard.
    Nothing worked. Any help ?
    Thanks

By switching the sampling rate at the rear of the device, unplugging and replugging it, I manage to make it work again

  • Yosemite Sound Input Only Uses Internal Mic

After updating to Yosemite I cannot record with an internal audio option, like soundflower.  Before Yosemite, it worked fine to change sound input from internal mic to soundflower, but now, no matter what selection is made, it records from the mic.

Try re-installing sound flower. I had an issue where it would keep crashing when I tried to change the output. It worked after I re-installed it again.

  • System Preferences Sound Input is stuck at Soundflower (64ch). I can't change it!

So, I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite (latest version). (250GB HDD, 4GB RAM, 2.4 GHz)
I wanted to record some commentary for my video and to use the mic I went into System Preferences > Sound > Sound Input.
With my mic connected, I tried all of the 4 options (picture below), but then after closing and opening System Preferences again, the sound input is stuck on "Soundflower 64ch).
When I try to change it (e.g. Built-In), it "crashes", but not really: It selects the option I clicked for a second or two, then the list disappears and says "No Input Devices" briefly, then the list reappears with "Soundflower 64ch" selected.
Please help, I've tried some solutions I found online, like restarting the laptop, repairing disk permissions, even a code for Terminal.
    Thanks to anybody in advance.
UPDATE: ****, I think my Mac is possessed or something. It shows the ring of death when my mouse is on the System Preferences window, and when I try to take a screenshot of the list itself, it lags and doesn't let me take it until "No input devices found" appears.

Either remove "Soundflower" or refer to its developer for support.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • Sound input issue

Last week I answered a Skype call to find the person on the other end couldn't hear me. I checked all my preferences, and realised that there was no input registering for the Line In (external mic) in the Sound System Pref.
Thinking it might be the external mic, I tried the internal one. I still have the bars registering noise, but nothing in Skype.
Wondering if it was a Skype issue, I tried Quicktime. Trying to record audio through QT Pro gets nothing with either internal or external mic.
But the strange thing is iMovie and Windows Movie Maker (through Parallels) record just fine from the internal (but not external) mic.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It's driving me nuts!

What you think is a mic input on the mac is actually a line level input - so you can't just plug a mic in - it's the more pro approach to sound input.
So you need a line level input. I'm not very familiar with what's out there, but essentially it'll be the equivalent of a preamp.
You can also bypass the line in input entirely by getting a usb input - for example I use an Andrea sound pod for a speech recognition microphone.
    Hope that helps
    Best of luck.

  • ISight sound input issues

When using the isight and iChat the sound freezes. When I go to the computer with the issue and test it, I see it stops taking in sound and freezes. By freezing I mean the bars that light up as the your volume increases eventually stay lit at 3-4 bars. I tried 2 diffrent cameras...any other ideas? I saw these bars in system prefs -> sound -> input. Selected isight as input.
    Thanks

    Hello rkovelman
You may have a conflict. Unless you get the help you need here first, perhaps some more info will let us give you more specific suggestions.
What is ACTC, ACHD, ACDT, ACPT? I do not recognize these abbreviations, and the Google links I looked at are obviously NOT what you are intending here.
Why have you not updated to the current version (10.4.10) of OS X?
How do you "test it"? (Please give the steps in your procedure.)
    Are both "cameras" external iSights?
Does the sound "freeze" when using these cameras with any other applications?

  • Link to Document Content Type issue - links not relative

I'm using the Link to Document content type in a library in order to link to documents in other libraries.  We just migrated to 2010 from WSS 3.0 (2007) and are having an issue.  We view our site internally thorough the internal machine address/name
and also have users connecting remotely from an external url.  In 2007, it didn't matter whether we were internal or external, all links were apparently stored as relative because the "link to document" items worked fine either way.  This
was despite entering the url fully and not relative.  When viewing/editing the properties of that item, it shows you the full url applicable to where you are viewing it...internal if internal, external if external.
However, after the migration to 2010, all links that existed previously are fine, but any new items created using link to document apparently no longer store them as relative so either the internal or external users get the wrong link.  For example,
if I put in the link as http://servername/library/doc the external users get that same link and it doesn't work, since it should be like https://myurl/library/doc.  Viewing/editing the properties of the item shows an absolute url of whatever location
the item was added.  For instance if I'm connected externally and add an item, even if i only enter it as relative, it creates the link as https://myurl/library/doc and then the internal users end up having to connect via that url and that is just a pain
due to AD and certificate issues.  The internally created links are obviously not accessible at all from the outside.
I've also tried storing the link as relative when creating the item but it seems to overwrite it with the absolute link.
This is causing quite an issue with us.  Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on and how to fix it?
    thanks!

Hmm...I thought I had the thread set to email me if there were replies and I never received an email so I thought there were no replies.  I came back to this since another issue cropped up that is related and there were replies!
I cannot recall how things were set up exactly in 2007 and there's no way to look back now.  I'm a novice when it comes to AAM/DNS/IIS really.  Maybe you can suggest what it should look like?
We have our site which is accessed internally by http://machinename .  Externally, we use https://sharepoint.mydomain.com .
In AAM we have http://machinename listed in the default zone with the same url for internal and public.  We also have https://sharepoint.mydomain.com listed, in the internet zone and it also has the same url for both internal and public.
In IIS, the sharepoint site has bindings for port 80 and 443, but nothing specific to https://sharepoint.mydomain.com
DNS....I'm not sure what should be here, if anything.
We can access the site just fine externally, there are just a few instances where some links do not work correctly and point to the internal url instead of external when you are external.  The original post is one time and the other, found the other
day, is a search box webpart that points to a relative url for the results page but externally it ends up going to the internal url.
    I'd appreciate any guidance.  Thanks!

  • Application notes, related software On Measurement of sound and its analysis

Please send me Application notes, related software On Measurement of sound and its analysis.
Also send me list of the hardware and software required for sound measurement and analysis.

The software you are looking for would be LabVIEW with the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. With that you will not only get the tools you need, but a good deal of example programs to help you along the way.
From a hardware point of view, our Dynamic Signal Analysers are perfectly suited for sound and vibrational measurements. We also have a large line of Data Acquisition devices that are also well suited for these types of measurements.

  • Digitech RP350 USB Guitar Pedal, Not picking up sound input

I just was trying to hook up my guitar pedal to garageband to record some tracks. I have the MIDI set up right I am pretty sure, garageband even recognizes the input device as "Digitech RP350". But when i try to record, it is picking up no sound input. I just want to get this to work and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Eric

...and not to be annoying, but, skaadiction...you get much better control of your signal if you go out the normal 1/4" jack(s) and into GB via an audio interface. Using the trim on an interface will allow your recorded signal to be much hotter/thicker/stronger than by going straight from USB, where it seems you have no control over the incoming signal.
(Just talking from my experience. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

Check System Preferences > Sound > Output
Make sure the correct device is selected.
