Sound is distorted when browser is downloading

Hi,
I just bought a new HP 15 notebook PC , windows 8.1. It's working well except for one thing.
When I'm viewing a video in youtube, the sound gets distoted as long as the video is downloading. Once the download is complete it's fine. This also happens when I listen to a CD and brows at the same time.
Where can i go to change the settings to prevent this?
Thanks

Hi,
Try reinstalling the audio drivers or follow the instructions from this link.
No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8)
If you are unable to find the drivers then please post the exact model name or Product number of the notebook. I should be able to get the right link..
Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Firefox don't close when "browsing and Download History" is deleted on exit

Firefox doesn't close properly in about 50 % of cases. When closing FF, the window closes but the process firefox.exe isn't terminated. When trying to open FF again you got the error message "Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." After terminating the process firefox.exe in the windows task manager, FF can be started again.
Error only occurs when under "Options/Privacy/Use custom settings for history" at "Clear History when Firefox closes" the option "Browsing and Download History" is selected.
All other options selected or not don't cause the issue.
I switched this option it several times. When "Browsing and Download History" at "Clear History when Firefox closes" isn't selected, the error doesn't appear.
Reproducible regardless if "Remember my browsing history" and "Remember download history" are selected or not.
    Reproducible:
    - after new installation of Firefox (Firefox 29.0.1 german, Windows7 64-bit)
    - with different profiles, even with all addons disabled or running in safe mode
    - with new profile with no addons or dictionaries installed
    - with windows firewall turned off and deactivated antivirus program
    - with hardware accellaration on and off
I know the issue has already reported at bugzilla.mozilla.org and described at
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997918
    https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/997670
I want to describe the problem more precisely:
It only occurs when "Browsing and Download History" is delete on exit. The other option at "Clear History when Firefox closes" don't cause this issue.
Is there any other solution then to turn "Browsing and Download History" off?

From what I have been reading from other posts on this forum, the issue may
be caused by the clear history settings.
Press the '''<Alt>''' or '''<F10>''' key to bring up the tool bar.
Then '''Tools > Options > Privacy'''.
The button next to '''History''', select '''Use Custom Settings'''.
At the bottom of the page, turn on '''Clear History When Firefox Closes.'''
At the far right, press the '''Settings''' button. Turn on ONLY '''Cache''' and
'''Form And Search History''' leaving the others off.
This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up.

  • HELP!  My sound is distorted when I export from Final Cut Pro 10.3

How do I use Compressor 4.1 with Final Cut Pro 10.3?  My sound is all distorted when I download!  HELP!!!

You mean 10.0.3, I suppose. This is a VERY old version and it does not work in Mavericks; Compressor 4.1 is a recent version and maybe there is some incompatibility.
You should update to 10.1.1, but 10.1 introduced significant changes. Before updating, follow these excellent recommendations and tutorials from Steve Martin and Mark Spencer:

  • Music distorting when browsing the web

    Hi,
Since installing the latest version of itunes on my windows pc the music distorts whenever i am browsing the web and click on links. Its never done this before. Any ideas please?
I have 8mb broadband and a good spec pc so its none of these causing the problems.
    Thanks
    Murgy
      Windows XP Pro

i'm not having that problem but it may be somthing that a software restore through iTunes could solve. If not then it may have somthing to do with the websites your browsing. If the sites arent compatable with the touch or have some file formats that are not compatable somewhere on the webpage it could be causing the touch to freeze up for a bit which would stop your music.

  • Random crashes when browsing and downloading video.

Seems since upgrading to 10.6.8 system crashes on a random basis most often when browing with latest Safari, when downloading videos and/or playing playing using latest QuickTime. Ran Hardware Test, no problems. Completed repair of Disk Permissions and Verified HD. New to Mac so don't know all the test that one can make, any help apppriciated including how to access crash reports since none come-up when crashes occure.

Further to above, perhaps not a crash since no crash report, however, screen goes solid blue and then the log-in screen immediately is shown.

  • Flash Player playing multiple sound feeds at once...even when browser is closed

I recently updated my Flash Player to 11.3 (most recent version). When I go to a site which utilizes Flash (e.g. YouTube), I will start the video, and then about 10 seconds later, I get multiple sound feeds at the same time. They all sound like commercials, or tv channels. Even when I close my browser, the sound continues. When I open my sound mixer, there is a "program" listed of "winrscmde" which is playing the various audio channels all at once. When I go into the task manager, "winrscmde" shows as a svchost.exe *32. When I stop that service the sound stops. It will start again when i access a flash site. When I uninstall Flash Player 11.3, this stops.
    I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit with latest updates. IE 9.0.8112.16421
    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think I fixed the problem.
    I found this topic:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic442928.html
About the second post down, the poster recommends downloading TDS killer as winrscmde.exe is disquised as svchhost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder (you have to click on "Properties", then "Details" tab and check the original filename...if it's bogus, it'll say winrscmde.exe as the original name).
I also ran the aswMBR program as well as FixTDSS (http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/global/removal_tool/threat_writeups/FixTDSS.exe).
That seemed to fix the issue. Just reinstalled Flash and don't get the same issues. The svchost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder is legit!
Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem.

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

  • Why am I getting sound distortion when connecting iPad 2 to amplifier.

I am getting sound distortion when connecting iPad or iPod thru amplifier using AirPlay or 3.5mm to rca cables. Also the sound has far too much bass. No problems when connected in car.

It sounds like a mismatched impedence.  What are you connecting to?   the output from the jack is intended for headphones, and is not just an audio out.
Try turning the volume on the pad way down, and use the gain on your amp, and see if that minimizes the issue.
There is a pure audio signal for both channels on the 31 pin plug, but you would need a special cable to use it.  I would bet they are available if you google.  Although I have read that the 31 pin signal is not filtered like the headphone output, so while it is a pure audio output, there may be some noise in it that would need to be filtered.
Try google for a 31 pin cable.  ( the input for the car is probably built to take a signal from a headphone output, while your amp may be expecting a lower power signal)

  • Sound distorted when I listen to headphones since installing latest update

Ever since installing the update on my iPhone 5s, the audio is distorted whenever I try to use headphones. The sound is fine until I plug my headphones in, at which point it sounds muffled as if I am listening to the music through the walls.  I have not damaged my phone recently and also tried this with two different pairs of headphones. Both headphones work fine when I plug them into other items; it only gets distorted when I plug in headphones. Please help!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Itunes sound distorted when loading webpages

    Hi,
I recently got a new laptop (like a week ago) and installed iTunes 9. This worked fine at first, but starting yesterday the sound gets distorted half the time I load webpages or open applications.
I've had this before on older computers, and assumed it was because of their limited technical capabilities. I don't think that's the case here, though.
Does anyone have any idea where the problem could be situated? Or might it be technical after all?
    Thanks in advance!
    Greetings,
    Steven

Sounds like your audio midi settings are not being stored properly.
I'd try deleting com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist and resetting
    audio midi.
As you know, iTunes only reads the audio midi settings when it starts
up, so I'd do that with itunes not running.
