Sound is missing

I don't know what happened. Until recently I was getting sound fine playing music and videos in quicktime and my browser, but now there is no sound in these programs.
I am getting sound fine using iMovie.
Any suggestions about a setting I may have jogged without realizing it? Or any other suggestions for fixing this?
Thanks.

Need more info:
Which Windows version?
What version of PPro (exactly)?
Media properties?
Sequence settings?
Export settings?
Does it happen with and without GPU acceleration?

Delete the files from iTunes. Go to the iTunes Store. Look to the right side of the iTunes Store window for the Purchased function. You can find all of your past purchases there.

  • TS3274 Sound is missing from my videos.  How do I restore?

The sound is missing from my videos.  How do I restore.  This does not seem to be part of the settings.

Either what Klaus 1 suggested or turn off Full Screen mode if you are running Lion. You can toggle Full screen by holding down Command - Shift - F.
If you are running Snow Leopard as your profile indictates (my mistake for not looking) then please disregard my post.

  • Garageband sounds goes missing in the middle of the project

in the middle of my projects I get a "file not found result error = -43" when I click on garageband sounds. I copied the sampler instrument folder from garageband and placed it in the sampler instruments folder in logic. But they still load up and in the middle of the project go missing again. I use redmatica's exs manager and re-linked to that folder and still the same results. any idea what is happening here?

Could be that something is too short to fit somewhere, but if it's happening all the time it's probably house keeping time.
Trash the FCE preferences, repair the permissions and re-boot.

  • Sound effects missing after 2.0 update?

Anyone else notice their sound effects (click, etc.) went missing after the 2.0 update? (and yes, "both" is checked under settings). Just wondered if this is universal or if something went haywire with mine...

Sweet! The power of the collective on the web...
Jeff - try this, worked great -
unfortunately i lost all my info on my touch when doing this, but I can dedicate some time tonight to resetting my wallpaper, my mail settings, etc.
i think the 'DFU' in these instructions means device firmware upgrade...found this on another forum where people complaining of same problem...
    1. Hold both the home and power buttons until the device turns off
    2. EXACTLY one second after the iPod turns off, release the sleep/wake button, holding the home button still ( the apple logo SHOULD NOT BE ON ).
    3. In about 20 seconds, you will see your iPod appear in iTunes, but the screen on your iPod will still be off. You are now in DFU mode.
    4. RELEASE the home button as soon as your iPod appears iTunes. If you fail to do so, your iPod will simply go back into recovery mode.
yo Apple - please roll out some info on this 'known issue'; While $9.95 isn't a budget-breaker, if you have to figure out how to make that $9.95 work on your Apple device like it appears some of us are, it speaks to posting something in Support about it - thanks!

  • Reminder sound for missed calls, SMS or voicemail????

I would like to find out whether the iPhone 3G has the capability of generating a reminder sound or vibrate when a call, SMS or voicemail was missed. Right now, I have to "wake-up" the screen to see. My old phone had that capability, and I thought it was very useful. If the phone itself can't do it, is there an application that can compensate for that missed feature? Thanks for your help.

I was just thinking about that the other day. On my former phones (treo, samsung flip, well ANY other former phone I've ever had) there was at least an led that would blink to tell me I missed a call, had a voicemail, etc...
With the iPhone I have to wake up the screen to see if I've missed a call. Pretty annoying. I love the iPhone but this is just one more thing on the list that makes it stand out from all the other phones out there (and not in a good way!)
    Oh well.

  • System 10.5.8 Sound application missing

Friends were having major problems with Mac OS 10.5.8. I tried to install 10.6 but the installation stalled several times. Through it all, I got OS 10.5.8 running for them again but the sound application is now missing, so I can't get the iMac to play sounds effects nor will it show the Harmann Kardon sound sticks as a sound output. They can't find their original install discs and I do not have that version. Will the sound application for system 10.6 work if I drag that file into their 10.5.8 system?  Any ideas would be appreciated!  Thanks.

    Nairy Fuff.
Are you booting from the DVD, or installing from the desktop? (both are possible).
As you appear to have a failed install, check the root level of the Finder (i.e Macintosh HD) to see if a folder has appeared called something Like 'Mac OS Install Data'.
That would contain all the System files that should have been moved into place during the restart.
You could try removing that. It may need a sudo commad in Terminal; not my territory, but ask again if it won't delete normally.
I'm assuming up to now that you did a verify/repair disc on mac HD before starting?

    Hello, Surabhi5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that the sound slider is missing on your iPad.  Here are the troubleshooting steps that I would go through for this issue.

  • Pop ichat sound is missing HELP!! Please

ok so i just noticed that my ichat sound when im in a video chat has disappeared. its been missing for like 4 days, and i havent been able to fix the problem.
im not talking about the main sound. im talking about the pop noise.
so if anybody could help me fixed this it would be much appreciated

And in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects what is the volume set for the Alerts ?
    Take iTunes for Instance.
You can turn the Master volume of the computer Up or Down using the Keyboard or in System Preferences > Sound (Any tab) and the Output volume at the bottom.
Or you can use the iTune interface to turn it up.
The same is true of Alerts except the control is in the System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effect tab.
I have not tried the CoreAudio Force Quit in Activity Monitor.
If it persists I normally delete com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist from inside Hard Drive/Library/Preferences and restart the computer.
The particular Preferences folder holds System Wide Preferences rather than personal ones. (Hard Drive/Users/(Your account name)/Library/Preference).
You will have to go to the Hard Drive/Library/Preferences manually by clicking through the folders as Spotlight does not report on this Library folder.

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"
iChat Sounds are played as Alerts when playing as part of iChats's normal function.

  • Sound bar missing

The sound bar on my music app has gone missing and there is no sound coming from the speakers. The ringtone is still working so this has definitely got to be a glitch. Are there any solutions?

I'm seeing a lot of iPad users not having one sound or another. None of the fixes I've seen seem to work for my situation and I've tried them all. Right now there is no sound whatsoever on my iPad. The past couple of days sometimes there was sound and sometimes not - mostly not. What I have noticed, that no one else (that I've fund) mentions, is there is no sound slider button either on Music app or on the Task Bar. When there is sound there is a slider button but no button when there is no sound. Logically (are computers logical?) there is something somewhere that is shutting off the sound completely as shown by the lack of a slider button. I also checked any iMacs around here that are synced with it thinking something on them might be inhibiting sound function. Didn't find anything. If someone else sees these symptoms as well let's talk. Maybe we can figure something out...

  • Sound devices missing post-10.6 install

Did an upgrade on my MacBook Air. Everything else went smoothly... except suddenly my sound devices are missing. No output, no input. No more software updates to install.
    Anyone have any idea?

As per a forum search here will show you if you're looking hard enough, the flex cable and sound board go south on these things due to frequent overheating. This was confirmed by a Genius yesterday. They're going to replace the cable and sound board, as well as order a new logic board and replace that if they find other heat damage.
As to your problem, I saw some suggestions that the sensor that detects optical/analog output for your jack may have become dirty and to try and "clean" it by repeatedly inserting/removing your headphones. I don't know if that'll help you at all, but I do remember seeing it.
    Good luck!

  • E6 - no SMS sound, no missed event widget

    Hi,
    at first - welcome everyone.
I've recently switched my E66 for a brand new E6-00. As an E66 user, I'm not used to having problems with my phone. Everything changed on the second day of using E6.
First, I've noticed, that missed event widget stopped working (with no config changes). Reinstalling the newest software solved the problem. Let's say partly, because "contact search" stopped working (also after turning it off and on again). This time, restoring phone to factory deffaults helped.
I've had no problems for astonishing 4 days, when my missed event widget dissapeard again. Luckily, I knew how to repair it. It's enough to download 170MB of software and reinstall it.
But it shew up, that my E6 doesn't want to bore me with the same issues. Today, I lost sound on incoming SMSes. I've tried everything, there is in settings with no effect.
Please let me know, if you have any suggestions. I'm a Nokia fan, since I have never had any problems witch any of my Nokias. But this E6 cools down my enthusiasm. My friends laugh at me for buing Nokia instead of some android-based smartphone and I have to hide from them, because I really have no strong argument (like reliability used to be) in that discussion.

Have you by any chance set the application Font Magnifier above 115% or somethimg like that?
I discovered this phenomina a couple a months ago but it disappeared...cant tell if the mangifier had anything to with missed events...try it anyhow.

  • Sisabled sound and missing sound icon..............!!!!

so noticed a few months back that my sound icon was missing which i didn't care. Today i decided to see if i could solve the issue so i found this advice that i found here.
    Locate this file: com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
It's here: /Users/Library/Caches Drag that file from the Cache folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Launch System Preferences and see if the Sound icon has returned.
Well, i'm still with out my sound icon and now seems like my sound is disable. when i press the sound buttons in the keyboard it show the speaker with all the bars(full sound) and underneath is O with a / crossing it. help anyone?

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this file to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    Reboot.

  • Gnome-sound-properties missing?

    Hey gang,
was looking to customize/create my own sound theme for gnome. Usually I start off by scrolling through System -> Prefrences -> Sounds but that menu seems to be missing entirely.
even at the commandline I can't invoke it
    gnome-sounds-properties
that applet was included in every other linux distro I've ever used, could it be that this is an oversight and never got included in the gnome package for Arch?

  • Mac OS X Lion Problems (Sound, Resolution, Missing Partition, and Crashes)

Ohia everybody! So recently I installed Mac OS X Lion (GM) on my Mac Mini. It's been installed for about 2 weeks, but I quickly noticed a couple of problems with it.
    Problem 1 - Screen Resolution:
When I had Snow Leopard installed and I held alt to switch into Windows, the menu that appeared to let you switch partitons resolution was correct. Now it seems to be 800x600. Same thing with the boot screen with the Apple logo. When the actual OS is booted up, the resolution is correct (1600x900). Why is it doing this with Lion and now when I had Snow Leopard?
    Problem 2 - Windows Partition:
Before I installed Lion, I had a Windows partition set up using BootCamp. I was able to see the Windows partition on my Macs desktop as well as my Mac partiton. Now it doesn't show up at all, and when I go to Disk Utility, it shows up as BOOTCAMP, and its greyed off. When I click on it and try to mount it, it just said that it couldn't be mounted. Nothing more. I can still boot into it just fine, but I can't view files, which is quite useful when transfering files between the operating systems.
    Problem 3 - Speakers Buzzing:
On Snow Leopard, when I went to play a sound, the speakers were completely quiet and the sound came out nicely. Now, the speakers will be quiet, and when I get a notification or something, the speakers will have a quiet buzzing sound and will continue buzzing for a few minutes after the sound is over. When I play another sound, they will start buzzing again. It never used to do this before Lion, so I'm sure its not the speakers. Hopefully someone has any info on this because I'm clueless.
    Problem 4 - Safari Crashes:
Last problem! Sometimes on Lion (not on Snow Leopard), if I leave Safari open for a little bit, it will randomly crash. It usually doesn't do it while I'm browsing, but if I'm uploading pictures or videos and I just leave it open, I will come back to my computer and it will say safari crashed.
    Note:
I always keep my computer up to date, and have googled all of these problems before with no help. Hopefully someone get help me fix any of these problems.

So I am not the only one with this issue. The sound of my imac g5 sounds buzzing as well. I am hoping for a fix from Apple soon.
