Sound is occasionally cutting out--logic/firebox

Hello, I'm finding that every once in awhile my audio dies on me. Transport works, all buttons function, but nothing reads in the meters and there is no sound and I have to restart logic. I think I've notice that the LED on my firebox flashes red when this happens, and I suspect that the other firewire device connected to my computer (WD external drive) may be causing this. Any advice?

Daisy chain the HD off the back of the Firebox and you should be good.

  • Midi cutting out Logic/Oxygen 8

Hi Guys, I'm having an issue with midi notes cutting out when I play my little oxygen 8 into Logic. It does not exibit the same problem in reason, but when I rewire reason through logic and send the midi from logic it does the same thing. It also changes the screens as if the higher velocities are sending some sort of screen change command. I have disabled the midi remote function in the quick keys window but it still does it.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Exhausted. Yourself? What I meant was, from your description it sounds like the (higher Vel) MIDI events are still triggering commands. So if you can specify or deduce what is triggering it it will be easier to find, for example if it is only on Note 72. I have run across MIDI remoting when disbaled which I am pretty sure was not user error. Another thing you could try as a quick solution is to move your prefs and key commands to the desktop, restart Logic and see if the problem persists-that would be very fast. You could then reintroduce 1 file at a time until it returned.
    Good Luck

  • Sound on videos cuts out after a few seconds?

Whenever trying to watch a video from a site on safari, Facebook (App), twitter (app) and instragram (app) the video plays sound for about a second then it cuts out. I have to restart the video or click the ringer off and on to hopefully get sound at the beginning ( which never happens). Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Same issue here. I actually won't have any sound if the video starts while "vibrate" mode is on, then when I flick it to "sounds", it plays the audio for a second then fades away until I start the video again.

  • Bose sound link keeps cutting out when streaming

this is applying for all my devises every time i want to streame to my bose sound link system it keeps cutting out could this be a rooter problem?

The Bose Sound Link uses bluetooth technology to communicate with your devices, therefore the router has nothing to do with your problem. Try moving the devices closer to the Sound Link and see if that helps.
Also, human bodies can block the bluetooth signal so make sure your iDevice and the Sound Link are out of the way from where people can walk between them.

  • Possible Solution to Speaker Sounds or Channels Cutting Out or Miss

I was playing Oblivion and noticed my 4. Xfi setup sounded odd ... checked in Creative's THX Setup control panel and it was set to 4., but when I checked the right front speaker I got nothing and it sounded like the right front was somehow being mixed with the two rear speakers ... very frustrating. This has happened to me before and there are a lot of posts from users who have experienced it as well. I think the last time I uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers to fix it but I didn't want to hassle with that this time so I tried something simpler first. I clicked on "Restore Defaults" in the Audio Console and now I'm getting all four channels again, from the correct speakers ... Not sure what setting made the difference, but I'd recommend trying "Restore Defaults" to anyone who has a missing channel ...

    Hi
I may have the solution to slow performance when using multi core processing. I was testing out realflow 2013 and noticed simulations were talking a long time to finish when using maximum threads 32. I set the threads to 8 and the simumlation was twice as fast which did not make any sense to me. The simulation was taking 1min 24 secs to finish using 32 threads and 45sec using 8 threads. I realized their has to be a problem here. So I went into my BIOS and disabled Hyper Threading. So now instead of having 32 threads I only have 16 threads. When i went back to try the same simulation again this time the 16 threads was only taking 24secs to finish. and the 8 threads was taking 35secs to finish. This made a lot more sence to me.
Anyway so once I realized that turning off Hyper Threading fixed my simulation problem maybe it might be the cause of my slow performance in AE using multi processing. I tried AE and now multi processing is working great very fast now and stable. MP renders start right away now instead of getting stuck on frame 2 or saying initializing background processes and never ever doing anything. Before I had to keep disabling MP and re-enabling it in AE to get it to start working again and still it wasen't very stable
If anybody is having issues with slow performance from their Multi processor systems try disabling Hyper Threading in the BIOS it might just fix your problem.
    Hope this helps

Remember the whining issues with the MBPs? One of the workarounds was to engage the built in camera in some way. Opening photobooth stops the sound. Which means it obviously isn't a nesacity.

  • My IPAD 2 has intermittent sound.  It cuts out while I'm listening to something. It may take hours to get audio again.  What is causing that?

Why is my IPAD2 experiencing intermiitent sound.  All updates are current. I have done complete shut downs and checked settings.  It quits in the middle of things.  If I turn it off for several hours, it comes back on.  System sounds work

I think that you mean that you cannot reset all settings or erase the device using the settings because of the fact that you don't remember the passcode. Unfortunately, you can't retrieve a restrictions passcode. You have to restore the iPad to factory settings to remove the passcode. However, that is something else that I suggested in my post above. And frankly, not knowing your restrictions passcode makes using the iPad such a pain be use you need to get into the settings from time to them.
You will have to restore completely as new and not use a backup. If you backup and restore the backup, you will be restoring the passcode that you cannot  remember.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • What's that funny sound that occasionally pops out of my MacPro

Can anyone tell me what that sound is that comes from the MacPro every now and then. I don't know how to describe it. We have four MacPros and they all do it. Like you've dropped something into water... but a deeper sound????

Are you running something like iChat or Skype when this happens?  If so, it's likely a notification of some event, like a friend coming online or going offline.

With this setup I am unable to use CMSS 3D without the audio cutting out completely. Before it does so it's usually followed with numerous cracks and po
    ps.
Disabling CMSS 3D alleviates this problem, however I occasionally get a slight pops and crackles when playing games or listening to music.
While playing Mass Effect 2 the sound will completely cut out in the same manner it does when I have CMSS 3D enabled, despite the option being turned off in the console launcher.
At first I tried a clean install of the drivers, removing drivers, using driver cleaner pro, registry cleaner and then reinstalling them. Did not fix the issue. I then did the same for the chipset drivers and my video card drivers.
I thought it may have been a problem with OpenAL (for mass effect 2) so I reinstalled that. Same problem.
    I tried using PAX's driver's, same problem.
I've used DPC Latency Checker V.2.0 and according to it my machine should be able to handle real-time streaming audio with no dropouts.
I'm at a loss at what else to do and any further help would be appreciated.

Just an update on my problem.
I was able to resolve the sound cutting out issue and the cracks/pops issue within windows by disabling CMSS3D + setting my sample rate to 24 bit, 96k Hz.. Using 92k Hz results in the cracks and pops coming back, although they are few and far between.
Unfortunately this did not resolve my issue with the sound/audio cutting out in mass effect 2. I tried the onboard sound and that also cuts out, so I've determined it's not a hardware issue but rather a bug of some sort within the game. There are also other sparse reports of people having the same issue.
    Thanks

  • Why the sound cut out on my iPhone 4S?

In any app or on the main screen the sound will randomly cut out. Phone won't ring even if ringer is on, no typing sounds, no music or sound to videos. The + and - button on the side if the phone will bring up the image on the center of the phone but no white bar under showing where column is or it increasing or decreasing. The slide bar for column disappears in apps and when you slide up to the quick access items. Some times it works perfect. Headphones work fine at all time. If sound cuts out I can put headphones in and it works. Does not instantly correct sound without headphones though. It will stay off til it feels like working again.
Any idea what happened and how to fix it? It's about 7 months old. Never gotten wet although we live with a ton of snow and below zero temps so I don't know if going in and out from hot to cold could have caused condensation somewhere :/

Volume not column dang auto correct!

  • Left, right, or both sound channels cutting out

    Hello folks,
This is a second thread I am creating to ask some questions about this other problem I have:
I have a fourth-gen ipod photo. I bought it just before they rolled out the ipod color. I have used this device pretty heavily, I take it with me everywhere I go. I've tried to take good care of my iPod... no major drops, minimal jars, only unplugging it when there's no I/O access, and trying not to charge it until the battery is low.
For several months I have been having issues with sound channels on my headphones cutting out. At first, it was just annoying: left or right sound channel cutting out, fixed simply by nudging the headphone plug in the jack.
Lately, however, this is becoming a bigger problem. This problem does not affect the ipod playing back music in any way, aside from the fact that sometimes the ipod will think I've unplugged the headphone.
Now, sound will completely cut out. Sometimes I hear nothing. Sometimes fidelity will drop pretty heavily and everything sounds like I was listening to my music underwater. Sometimes, just the left or right sound channels cut out. Again, all of this fixes itself by wiggling the headphone jack in its plug.
I use a pair of $20 walmart special Sony Street Style (very nice sound quality, actually) in most cases, but also use it with a pair of American Audio DJ headphones. The Sony headphones have an L-shaped plug, but the AA headphones have a more traditional sticks-straight-out plug.
I am looking to fix this problem myself. I plan on opening up my iPod to install a new battery and maybe fix the other problem I am having (see my other thread), and I am not afraid of the insides of the device.
What I am asking is if anyone else has had this problem, or a something similar? My guess is that the headphone jack's solderpoints on the PCB have become loose, so if I go in there and resolder the jack then I hope everything is hunky-dory. I've seen repair sites that sell the entire headphone assembly for like $50. Would it be better just to replace the whole thing?
Please note that I have no intentions (nor the money) to have a "genius" fix my iPod. (Where's the fun in that, anyway?) Further, I can not afford (and will not buy) another iPod, so that's out too. I am simply looking to fix my iPod and keep limping along until I can afford a newer mp3 player.
    Any help is appreciated
    tom

    Hello,
It looks to me that it can be caused by the bad contact of the metal parts of earphone jack or the loose of its solder with the mother board. Both of them should not be too difficult to deal with if you are good in small elect. device.

  • TS130 Sound cuts out Windows 8.1

For the longest time (now out of warranty) the sound has been cutting out one one channel. I have tried different cords with the same result. I finally installed a new ASUS Xonar DG sound card thinking it would solve my issue. Guess what? Same problem - I have tried different drivers, suggestions?

    Hello @Jeremy-01,
I understand that the audio being produced by your desktop using iTunes sounds choppy, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To improve the quality of your system's audio, I recommend following the steps in this document on No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8). I also suggest following this resource on Resolving slow system performance (Windows 8); which should help improve the speed and efficiency of your applications.

  • Sound cuts out, have to restart. caused by downloading

I wasn't able to find a thread on this, so hope I'm not rehashing some old news.
Frequently my sound will completely cut out for all applications and I'll have to restart my computer to get it back. Sometimes these quirks just leave silence; sometimes any sound from any app just comes out as a high pitched squeal. I used to think it was a random occurrence, but I've noticed that this anomaly only seems to occur while I'm downloading files (i.e. with BitTorrent, Bearshare, even downloading podcasts with ITunes.) It's getting pretty annoying.
Now before you start telling me to uninstall/reinstall, clean boot, yada yada know that I've already taken that to the super mega extreme: wiped my dri've, clean installed Windows, and started from scratch. Problem still persists. It seems weird to me that internet activity would cause my sound card to fail, but it does seem to be the common thread. Perhaps it's a PCI card thing? I have 2 PCI slots on my mobo: sound card's in one, network card for roadrunner in other. Maybe not, what do I know.
Almost forgot, my sound card is an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.
Can't think of anything else pertinent. If anybody has any clues as to why this is happening or what I can do to stop it, (short of banning myself from the internet) any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Done.
Not sure what I'm looking at here, though. I was kinda hoping for a red flashy light or at least one of those exclamation marks. Is everything in the detail window a conflict? Ouch!! Can I copy all this?

  • ITunes audio cuts out on computer speakers and AirPlay device.

When I have iTunes (10) playing and am using both my computer speakers and an AirPlay device (speaker in another room), the sound completely cuts out on both speakers repeatedly. The song will show that it's still playing, so I'll hit pause and play again, then the audio comes back both on the computer and the separate speaker.
This problem is separate from the audio occasionally cutting out on ONLY the AirPlay device, as I assume that's a wireless connection issue. Why the audio would cut out on my computer, I can't understand.

Similar issue here - two sets of speakers connected to 2x Airport Express (N), which in turn are connected wirelessly to an Airport Extreme base station. My iTunes library resides on a Drobo which is connected by Firewire to a MacMini which is connected by ethernet to the Airport Extreme base station.
Sometimes the sound will cut out on the airplay speakers while still playing in iTunes, but hitting pause then play on my iPhone or iPad remote resolves this (but it is irritating).
Occasionally iTunes will lose connectivity to the Airplay speakers, and to resolve I have to go into iTunes and deselect then select the Airplay speakers. I usually get an error message when this happens, something like 'unable to connect to airplay'.
Not really major issues but very irritating nonetheless. For my money the issue is with Airport somewhere... My firmware is up to date so maybe it is something to do with interference on my wireless channel (from other wireless devices, microwaves etc).

  • Wireless Headphones MDR-RF810RK Cutting Out

Hi, I bought my heapdhones about 15 months ago and they had been great, really impressed with the sound quality and range, but recently the sound keeps cutting out. It's getting so bad that I can't really watch or listen to anything as the sound is continually cutting out - and I'm not moving, let alone wandering from room to room like I used to be able to do. I use them for watching movies and listening to music on my laptop. I have them on charge when not using them so I don't think lack of charge is the problem. Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be and how to solve it? Should I buy a new battery? If so, where from? I'm in the UK and bought them from Argos, but they don't sell replacement batteries. Many thanks for your help.
