Sound is very quiet !

Hi
I recently bought a zen mp3 from 32 GB
but now I've put some songs on it and the sound is very quiet, even when I put it on 25 !
my brother has a zen mp3 of 8 GB and his sound is very loud at 25.
Does anyone knows how i can get the songs to play louder?
thanks
sjesches

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my ZEN, the sound was just too low for my requirements as I listen to it a lot along busy roads where there is a lot of noise. I assume that you have the European firmware on your ZEN, check it, the European firmware ends in an "e". If so, you might try downloading and installing the US firmware which you can download from the US site. Download the US firmware first before throwing out the European firmware, then install the US firmware. This is much louder than the Euopean firmware, I believe this is because in Europe the authorities want to protect their young people from ruining their hearing and therefore restrict the volume of players.
Now that I have the US firmware on my ZEN I have no problem with the sound anymore.
Have fun with your player!
macqueline.

  • Sound is very quiet on Windows 7

I have recently installed Windows 7 on my iMac, and upon trying to do anything that requires audio, the sound is extremely faint. I've raised all of the volume sliders in the mixer all the way, messed with all the options in the control panel, and have the latest drivers installed. Anyone have a solution for this?

I have to install RealTek and use Device Manager to update by searching my hard drive and pointing to the uncompressed file folder in order to use. Not the best sound unless I use real external speakers.
Apple Boot Camp drivers are not compatible with Windows 7. And Microsoft now blocks install as they near release candidate status next month.

  • Sound is very quiet in bootcamp on windows 7 but fine in osx

the audio/speakers sound great in osx, but after putting windows 7 on here through bootcamp, the audio is like half the volume it should be from the speakers. works perfect with headphones tho, so it has to be something to do with the speakers. any ideas?

you have to install Cirrus audio driver - Apple doesn't provide one.

  • Feedback Sound is very quiet

I JUST PURCHASED A NEW MAC MINI. MY SET UP IS AS FOLLOWS.
MY CONDENSOR MIC IS PLUGGED INTO THE LINE IN ON S-PHANTOM AS MY MIC REQUIRES THIS. LINE OUT FROM S-PHANTOM TO LINE IN ON MAC MINI. HEADPHONES PLUGGED INTO HEADPHONE OUT ON MAC MINI. I HAVE TO BE RIGHT UP TO THE MIC IN ORDER TO HEAR ANY FEEDBACK THROUGH HEADPHONES. I HAVE TURNED OUTPUT VOLUMES UP IN SOUND PREFS. ALL THE WAY UP AND SOUND LEVELS IN GARAGE BAND ARE ALL THE WAY UP. I HAD READ IN THE FORUM THAT YOU NEED AN INTERFACE OF SORTS TO INCREASE SOUND FOR CONDENSOR MICS. IT WAS STATED THAT THE IMIC BY GRIFFIN WILL PROVIDE THIS EXTRA POWER. ALL I AM INTERESTED IN IS HAVING THIS ONE MIC FOR ALL OF MY INPUT NEEDS. I PLAY GUITAR AND SING. WHAT WOULD BE YOUR RECCOMENDATIONS. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
Mac Mini 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo 1GB SDRAM   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Samson S-Phantom With Audio Technica Condensor Mic.

    sorry to bother you again.
    No bother at all.
to make it clear, will the imic boost the feedback
    levels once attached.
Yes, the iMic has a pre-amp which will boost the mic's level.
BTW, Feedback is really the wrong term to use, it means something else. Just so you know, what you're describing would be called "Signal Level"
does the imic come with a driver?
The original iMic did not, it was Plug and Play, I haven't used the iMic2
how does it connect? do i run the
mic out to the imic and from there the usb into the
    mini?
    Yes.
    will garage band recognize it?
It should. You open GB's preferences, select the Audi/MIDI tab, and choose the iMic from the Input PopUp menu
Hope that helps --HangTime [Will Compute for Food] B-|>

  • [solved] Sound very quiet

    Sorry, already solved.
"amixer set Front unmute 100%" fixed the problem. Strangely enough, i muted and unmuted each and every playback device via alsamixer many times.
If you have similar problems try these three commands:
    amixer set Master unmute 80%
    amixer set Front unmute 100%
    amixer set Headphone unmute 100%
    Hello,
my sound is very very quiet. To hear something I have to turn my amplifier up to at least 1/2 volume. At that volume level it would usually be enough to be wake the neighbourhood.
I checked with alsamixer if the sound output was muted but it isn't. What's strange is that the sound output worked just fine today but a restart suddenly the sound was very quiet like this.
    Any ideas what's causing this?
Mainboard is MSI H55M-ED55 with sound chip ALC889.

  • A new Mac Mini seems to have a very quiet constant squeaking sound, is this normal?

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased a brand new Mac Mini (i5) yesterday, and today in my very quiet room noticed that there is a very quiet squeeking sound coming from the unit (I believe it is near the front of the machine, opposite where the ports are). It is constant and changes pitch very slightly - but when there is a chirping noise from the hard-drive doing work, I think it stops then comes back straight after.
Any idea's if this is a problem and if I should be worried? It's just a bit annoying.
    I have the latest 2013 i5 model.
    Thanks everyone,
    John.

If you purchased the full AppleCare service support extended plan with automatic enrollment with the Mini computer, and you get a new one (or refurbished) ask that the Plan coverage be moved to the replacement Mac. Or refunded if you choose to wait & want to re-think your next product. They may be able to re-credit your method of payment, if a credit card.
I usually read through the product support discussion forums to see what the patterns of issues are, since that may be an indicator of a sort within a narrow specific build series model & sub-year version; and am watchful of graphic card problems in models where the parts may be difficult or costly to replace, if at all, later on.
At least with a Mini, you can choose several display adapters and hope to get a good match with whatever kind of display or digital TV you may wish to try & use as a screen. Some don't do all that well, & others do better.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Incoming ichat convo very quiet

    Hey Guys,
Just trying to get a podcast going in GB3. Myself and a buddy are audio chatting on ichat, except he comes in quiet on my end. I have to turn up my system volume to a good 3/4 of the way to hear him properly.
When trying to import into GB3 i hit the record button, the import ichat convo window comes up and we each get a track... but i am on both tracks... and so is he... but he is very very quiet. Now if we could get eachother on seperate tracks (like i thought would happen) i could probally boost the track volume of his track to make his volume slightly louder, but chances are it will be still on the quiet side.
He is using a usb mic and i am using a line mic through a small mixer. We are both on powermac G5s.
Basically how can i boost his volume on my end and how can we be on 2 seperate tracks in sound as well as the screen?
    Thanks in advance
    Ryan

all the volumes are cranked on his end... and its still coming in quiet in garageband on my end... and its still doubling the voice tracks on each indivisual tracks.
he trid on his garageband on his end (GB2) and its coming in loud and as it should....
    anyone have any ideas?

  • Very Quiet Audio During Playback

    Hi,
Just trying out my iPod 5G and an Apple AV cable.
Video is fine but audio is very very quiet. Have to have the iPod set to virtually full volume and TV up to about 50 (normal volume on TV is 12-15) to get anything like listenable audio.
The videos are fine through headphones with sound when volume is set to approx 25%.
I am using Handbrake on the Mac to encode into MPEG-4 format.
    Any ideas ???

  • Realtek ALC888 (OSS Mixer) Very Quiet

xfce4-mixer says I am using "Realtek ALC888 (OSS Mixer)" and the speakers and mic work, but the speakers are VERY quiet. I can't hear well enough to make a phone call with Skype. So I tried this:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xfc … ew_Xfce4.6
and it's not any better (I rebooted after I did that just to be sure). I have the volume on the physical speakers on 100% and xfce4-mixer also set to 100%.
I know that these speakers are actually pretty loud because other distros were LOUD.
Any suggestions how to debug this?
    Thanks.

To clarify, I don't actually care if I use oss or alsa or a
kerosene-powered dust buster. I just want to be able to hear youtube and
Skype normally. And the problem isn't just Skype--also youtube is very
    quiet.
I removed oss and alsa was still there. Or it claimed to be. I rebooted
but amixer and alsaconf were 'command not found'
I installed oss again and soundon gave a crazy output about conflicting
drivers. So I rebooted. When I now click on my Xfce mixer panel addon it says
GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system
specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions
    problem.
So I added myself (once again) to the audio group and installed oss again. Now I see this:
    [kirk@localhost ~]$ /etc/rc.d/oss restart
:: Stopping Open Sound System [BUSY] /etc/rc.d/oss: line 18: /usr/sbin/soundoff: Permission denied

  • Front Right Speaker Very Very Quiet!!

    Hello,
I have a Creative Inspire P5800 (5.1) Speaker System & my sound card is Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-Bit. All purchased about Septemeber this year, all has been working fine until today when the front right speaker has gone very very quiet!? All other speakers work fine, Can anyone help?
    Cheers,
    Oidest

I am having the exact same problem and there is no reply to any post on this issue what so ever on the internet.
I have all the other speakers working perfectly. I have tested the speakers on another 5.1 source and they all work fine.
This is such a pathetic problem, which is definitely routed somewhere in the drivers.
I have absolutely no idea where to go.
I used to be able to turn off the Hardware Acceleration to zero and then all 5 speakers would magically work. However now when I do that it is only coming out of speaker (Centre front).
Can't you fix your drivers Creative? I am sending this back to you for creating sub-standard drivers for your hardware.

  • My keyboard clicks suddenly go very quiet or disappear completely

When I start typing I can usually hear them but a few words in usually, they just disappear or go very quiet, they come back after a while but it gets very irritating. Right now, typing this, they've disappeared and came back thrice.
All sounds are on, side switch on, keyboard clicks on.

    See if this helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Audio playback is very quiet after Windows 8.1 upgrade on Pavilion g7

I recently updated to Windows 8.1 trial version and the audio playback is very quiet through the laptop speakers. Through headphones or played through the TV it works great.
    I have a Pavilion g7.
When I check the drivers they tell me that I have the most recent divers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, @Nautic-Al
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an audio issue with the notebook. I would like to try to help you with this.
As you're using a Trial version of Windows please read this document: HP PCs - About Beta or Preview Software.
To go along with that I will provide you this document for troubleshooting: No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8).
If that does not help you, then you'll have to revert back to the installed OS or completely upgrade to a non trial version.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Very Quiet G3 iBook!

The sound that my wife's much-loved old G3 white iBook gives out is very, very quiet. It makes listening to music quite a chore.
She has turned up the output volume to maximum in System Preferences, iTunes and various Applications but all to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried _resetting the PRAM_? The speaker volume setting is stored in PRAM, so resetting it may help.

  • Ipad keyboard clicks very quiet...

Hi. I have noticed that my iPad keyboard clicks seem very quiet particularly when compared to my iPhone 4. The keyboard sounds are on maximum and when I plug in the headset they are fine. All other sounds on the iPad seem fine. I am not sure but I am pretty sure the sounds on the keyboard used to be louder. Has anyone else noticed this? Don't have access to another iPad to test it so any comments would be extremely helpful.
    Many thanks,
    Rob

Well, I have to tell you that I was experiencing the same with my iPod and my iPhone, the iphone's keyboard clicks sounded very louder than the touch's, and wasn't a matter of speaker power or volume. I tried to restore, and It seemed to resolve this issue
    Hope this helped
