Sound Issue when burning an imovie HD projet with iDVD

I've just finished a 45 minutes movie with a rich sound track, using the video recorded sound, mixed with music & garage band loops and effects.
In Imovie, I've used a variable sound level adjustment to have a good sound mix. When playing with iMovie, everything is fine.
When burning my DVD, the volume levels in the soundtrack are incorrect with big sound variations each time i've used a mix of 2 sound effect, one with a decreasing volume, the other one with increasing sound volume at the same time for example.
Is there any known bug issue regarding this ?

Karls answer's helped me to findout the issue.
Nevertheless, this wasn't the bug.
When playing the movie in iMovie HD, sound rendering is not correct. When you burn your DVD, sound track is calculated to mix every sound tracks according to each sound volume curve defined in iMovie.
If you see a dot at the beginning of a sound track this mean that the DVD sound rendering will be incorrect.
Clean the and make sure that, when you select a sound object, you can change its volume by adjusting it, not manually, but using the general volume cursor. If not, you have a problem. Remake a perfect flat volume curve before adjusting it again.

  • Sound quality when burning an iMovie to disc

I just got iLife 9 and made a video using iMovie. The picture and sound quality on my computer are excellent; but when I burned the movie to a disc using iDVD the pictures remained high quality but the sound was poor. Any idea what might have caused the problem and what I can do to get better sound quality? Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Getting extra scenes when burning from imovie to dvd using idvd.

I edited a movie using imovie and got it n the sequence I want.  Then I burned it to dvd using idvd.  However, when I view the dvd, it starts midway through the video, goes to the end, then starts over and shows me the whole video.
The problem is, I don't see the extra part that shows in the beginnning on the dvd on imovie.  How do I get rid of that extra stuff if I can't see it on imovie?

I have had the same problem. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support and they were absolutely no help at all. They told me to buy Final Cut Pro. The only thing I found that helped was to export the movie using Quick Time as HD as possible (which takes a long time) and then use that in iDVD, so that the version I have for viewing on a TV or whatever doesn't look cheap and lo-res. My old iMac and iMovie 4 was slow, but the quality was much better on finished DVD products of movies or slideshows. It *****.

  • Title resolution degraded when burning an iMovie to DVD

When burning an iMovie  to DVD via iDVD using the Share menu, the resolution of the titles is significantly degraded on the DVD whether seen on my computer screen or on my HD (1080) TV.  As a result, while the video quality itself is quite good, the end product overall is inferior owing to low resolution titles.  I have not found a way to fix this.  Is there something I'm missing, or am I stuck with this inferior result?

Part of this is going from 1080P to 480P.
But if you are using SHARE/iDVD, try using SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER in Large size. Then, in iDVD, drag the movie into your project from the Media Browser.
Note: You can experiment with sharing in 1080P if your source material supports it. I have found personally that Large works for me.

  • I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

I'm using a mid 2014 13" rmbp. I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

It's something to do with the main user account (not iTunes account) on my Mac because I logged in with another account and it downloaded fine, I installed it on the HDD and even though the date in App Store was 16th October 2014, it is the full installer of 10.10.2.
To try to resolve this problem, I have copied the installer app elsewhere and deleted it but App Store still will not allow me to download it with my main user account yet just allowed me to update iTunes.
I had a brainwave last night that it might have been related to me changing the default downloads folder to one not on my boot drive (to save disk space on my main boot drive) but having changed it back, tried again, rebooted and tried yet again, deleted my App Store preferences. nothing has worked.

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

  • Sound problems when burning a film made in iMovie in iDVD

    PLEASE HELP!!!
I have upgraded to iLife 09 and for all the bad that people have to say, I actually like it a lot. Anyway, it gave me the encouragement I needed to play with some old home movies I had stored with the aim of producing DVDs to give to my friends, and hopefully showing off the slick production values I have come up with.
So after spending a week getting to grips with iMovie and editing an old holiday film with all the cuts, transitions, chapter markers and music etc that I wanted, I ended up with an hour long movie that I was happy with.
Then to iDVD. After trying out all sorts of ways to go from iMovie to iDVD to ensure the best quality, I have finally given up trying to replicate the on screen quality of the movie in iMovie with the finished DVD, and just opted for the easy to use 'share to iDVD' option. The quality is not great, but then the footage is old anyway so not too much of an issue.
Then I spend another few days playing with and learning iDVD and again end up with a finished product that I am happy with, with nice looking menu's and a slideshow etc.
So I come to burn the final DVD, for which I pick the 'Professional burn' option which takes 4 hours but I am happy to wait if it means the best quality possible, and my DVD is done.
I then play the DVD to discover my problem - the sound in the movie is not right. To explain further, in my movie I have reduced the sound of some of the film clips to nothing and placed music over the top. When played and previewed in iMovie it works fine - the music plays and the sound that is attached the the video does not. When previewed in iDVD it works fine - just as I had edited it in iMovie. But then when I burn the DVD, some of these sounds are present again which completely wastes all my hard work at the editing stage.
I have searched and searched for help on this but am unable to find any.
Sorry for the very long description and story behind my issue, but it is massively frustrating. Basically, at some point during the 'burn to DVD' stage in iDVD it decides to completely ignore most of the sound edits I have made on the movie in iMovie.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

Further to this, I have just sat and watched the whole final DVD on my TV and it would seem to be that the sound issues may be something to so with the transitions added in iMovie. Some of the sounds have even slipped in time! I get the sound from the next clip coming in early and then a blank patch of sound where it should be. All of this is always just before an iMovie transition.

  • R5K Sound issues when installing Windows 8.1

    Hello everyone
I installed Windows 8.1 Pro as downloaded. I used BCA > USB on my R5K to install Windows.. (Boot Camp drivers via BCA as well). Everything works fine except the sound when using Windows. There is sound, but it all... sounds disturbing, like listening to a radio. Nothing like the sound quality when using OS X, no epic sound effects and crystals clear sound whatsoever. And I think it's not even using all the speakers at the bottom of the iMac when producing the audio. I tried playing with Sound setting in Control Panned, with the audio settings in MPC, VLC, iTunes, re-installed the drivers just to be sure nothing went wrong with the installation and nothing work, I am still getting that "crappy sound quality"...
I am welcome to any suggestions, spend half a day just trying to fix this... Thank you in advance

  • Small "freeze" and sound issue when taking a full screenshot

    Hello,
This is a strange one, and I've not been using Macs properly for very long, so bear with me
It only happens when I use cmdshift3 to take a full screenshot, the other shortcuts for taking them are fine, I do get a similar issue when using Grab and it, too, only occurs on the full screen capture. What happens is, the sound clip of the camera noise will begin to play, stop, it goes a little distorted then the windows on screen will freeze up, the mouse will still move, and it stays like that for around 5 seconds until the file is saved to the desktop and all goes back to normal again. I'd like to reiterate that it only does this when i do a full screenshot, and the smaller one with the crosshairs and the individual windows is perfectly fine.
I tried searching on google, on the main support section and the forums and nothing has come up that's been helpful. I've had a look in the system logs, and at the time's I take the screenshot, the system log reports the following:
Sep 24 14:04:09 xxxxxxxx-computer kernel[0]: IOAudioStream[0x4db4a00]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position (2,728)->(3,7bd).

    Sep 24 14:04:33 xxxxxxxx-computer kernel[0]: IOAudioStream[0x4db4a00]::clipIfNecessary() - adjusting clipped position to (5,73a)
I know from that it's referring to my soundcard and there's a memory reference, but that's about as much as I can figure out.
It might not seem a big issue as the other methods are ok, but if it turns out to be something much deeper I'd like to try and fix it now before it becomes a problem.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Claire

Bingo! EXACT same problem here! It seems to me its a software bug.. ??

  • Burning an iMovie 10 project using iDVD

I created a slideshow movie with a theme (no audio) by iMovie 10. I want to burn a looping DVD of this movie without an added DVD theme, using iDVD. How would I bypass the iDVD themes?

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Several of our resident experts also recommend this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.

  • Suggestions on burning programs used with iMovie-quality horrible with iDVD

I have read the boards on iDVD and find myself having the same problem. I made an all photo slideshow for my husband to show clients in iMovie. I transfer it to iDVD, burn it (both using best and professional quality) and the pictures look horrible. Pixilated and grainy, not good enough to show clients. So I'm guessing the problem lies with iDVD (because it looks excellent in iMovie) does anyone have a suggestion of a burning program that is more professional quality? Or should I not be using iMovie for this kind of project at all, and do you have suggestions on a slideshow program? Thanks!!

"..One more question: You remember the spider that lived.." ..Sorry; 'Blade Runner' on the brain..
"..Can you tell me how I import into iDVD? Right now, I have selected share to iDVD in iMovie. How do I get the project into iDVD without sharing it?.."
Same as with any Mac program: you start by specifying the existing File which you want to use - in this case a movie or video - and you think what you want to do with it; in this case you want to import it into iDVD.
So in iDVD's top-line Menu, click on File, then Import, then Video... and choose the project which you were just editing:
If you were using iMovie '09 or iMovie '08, just navigate to your 'Movies' folder, and then the 'iMovie Projects' folder within that, and choose your recently-edited movie:
If you were editing with an earlier version of iMovie, just go to your 'Movies' folder and choose the movie you want.
(P.S: Just to come back to the question which Karsten asked you, above: "are both apps, iM and iDVD set to same framerate?"
iMovie and iDVD default to (will automatically be set at) NTSC 30 frames per second. For anyone in the States, that's exactly what you want. As you're in New Jersey (I assume) you won't need to make any adjustments. For anyone in European 'PAL-land' doing this, they'd first have to set iDVD's Preferences to PAL 25fps so that the frame rate in iDVD matches the frame rate of a PAL video, and then start a new iDVD project with that new 25 fps frame rate. You would NOT want to import, say, a 25fps movie into a 30fps iDVD project - or vice versa - as everything would stutter.)

  • Does iMovie 11 work with iDVD 6? - sharing issue

I recently upgraded from iMovie HD to iMovie 11 instead of purchasing the entire iLife 11 bundle in order to import AVCHD files from my Panasonic TM90. However, once I finished creating a project on iMovie 11 and shared it to my iDVD 6, the project would not show up in iDVD. iDVD does start up, but my project doesn't appear. iMovie 11, however, says that the import completes successfully and I can see it loading during the sharing process.
So I'm wondering if my iMovie 11 is incompatible with iDVD 6. I've thought about using my imported video files from iMovie 11 in iMovie HD instead, and attempting to share it to iDVD from there, but I'm wondering if there are better solutions.

    It should work fine.
I use iMovie 06 with iDVD 11 all the time. I also have iMovie 11 but I don't use it very often.
There was a quality upgrade from iDVD 06 to iDVD 08 - 11, (and a quality downgrade from iMovie 06 to iMovie 08 - 11).   I like to use iMovie 11 when sharing movies on the web but for making DVDs I get better quality with iMovie 06 and iDVD 11.
Starting with iDVD 08 an option called “professional quality” was added.  If you're making DVDs I would purchase iDVD 11.
If you purchase on iLife 11 on disc, you will have the option of selling it in the future.  Presently, iLife 06 sells for about double the price it cost new.
