Sound Lags
Hello,
For some reason, I'm finding that system sounds in Snow Leopard (such as moving a file or especially sounds in iChat) are laggy. For example, I if put a folder in another folder, there would be a pause, and then the sound would play. Before, the sound would play right on cue. I'm especially having problems in iChat as sometimes, the sounds don't play at all! For example, when I log into iChat, the login sound doesn't play! Then when I log back out and back in again, it plays. Sometimes, the swishing sound doesn't play when buddies go on/offline and there is a slight lag in the sound when I send/receive a message.
Anyone else having a similar problem?
Fixed after an OS 10.6.3 update.

Hi,
My Z1 compact has sound issues when playing games.
There is a noticable sound lag of about a second (not much but is quite annoying), not only on newer games but also on the older ones, Angry Birds for example. My recorded videos or YouTube don't appear to have the same issue.
The problem seemed to occur after I had installed Worms 2: Armageddon when the phone got extremely hot and crashed. It was after the phone had reset and cooled down that I noticed the sound lag issue and Worms 2 was running at a very slow frame rate.
I then installed Worms 2 on my ASUS TF201 and it runs perfectly with no sound or heating issues.
I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue so i'm wondering if my phone is faulty.
Any help would be much appreciated.Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion..
Before repairing your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to.
How to backup?
If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

I talking about (Starcraft 2) it was working perfectly before but new the sound lag badly that i disable the music and scape the cinematic part to play it.
>While gaming, do you use your notebook with high performance power plan?
Yes I use it.
By the way: sending DX info is OK but Im 100% sure nobody here will read this. I hope someone read it.
@ Xardas,
I try all the things you just say, and sadly it doesn't work. I have the last display and sound driver and last DirectX, I use the high performance power plan while gaming.
I try Disable AntiVirus/Firewall while gaming but it the same it doesn't work.
thanks. -
XFI Sound Lag? my pc:
intel core 2 duo @3.44ghz
4gb ram
asus p5b deluxe
creative xfi xtreme music
8800gts
windows 7 64bit
in windows xp 32bit I had no problem with the sound but with windows 7 I get sound lag with certain things. 00% cpu usage throught prime does not cause lag, but simple things like scrolling down through your files or opening and closing tabs in firefox. programs where I noticed this lag in: firefox (youtube for example), VLC, media player classic, media player and foobar2000 so any audio and video application has this lag. you can't listen to something and browse the web at the same time, each time you do something there will be lag in the sound. I wanted to see if this affects games as well and installed half life 2 deathmatch but with this game there is no problem. I installed a codec pack but that didn?t change anything either, before that it was just what windows came with. I tried the newest official creative driver, the daniel k driver and the pax driver. I reinstalled windows 7 and the error is still present. I?m not sure what else I can do other than go back to windows xp.
I also tried installing it in another pci slot but the problem remains.no answer?
could buying a xfi titanium pcie make a difference? or will it be the same because its the same drivers? -
Sound lag (delay) in windows 7 64bit over Bootcamp mini server 2011
I just got my new Mac mini server 2011, loaded windows 7 64 bit and noticed that there is a audio lag over hdmi (intel HD 3000), what i mean is when i delete a file from recycle bin there is no sound, i tried going to sounds in the control panel and tried to test windows system sounds none of them work except the longer duration ones (and even if i do hear them, its the last part of the audio). i tried playing a normal mp3 which worked fine, i tried a hd video which worked fine, but the windows system sounds don't work due to a 2-3 second sound lag. i tried the latest drivers from Intel, dint help. Well i guess this might be a driver problem (i hope it is) , just wanted to know if any of you guys are having the same problem. I don't have this problem with my mac mini 2011 i5 2.5 ATI6630m HDMI.
Audio device driver: Mini uses ? I know some Macs use RealTek and others have Cirrus so whatever you have, then RealTek is easy to deal iwth and install, Cirrus is harder to find and install.
Audio pretty much does not work w/o user manually updating -
Sound "lags" behind video after HDV Capture!
So I'm new to iMovie. I recently tried to capture some HDV clips from a Sony HDR-FX1 and when I play the clips after I've captured them, the sound lags behind the video. I've captured regular DV (4:3) clips without having this problem. Does anyone know what is happening?
Sometimes, if your import of HDV tapes is slower than 'real time', the sound may seem too slow (..lower pitch..) or may lag after import.
This seems to be due to a memory "cache"; iMovie seems to remember that the video played slower than normal while importing, and so the sound runs 'slowly' afterwards.
It sometimes works just to quit from iMovie and then restart the program (..that empties the "memory cache").
You could also 'Extract' the audio (..by selecting the video clip, and then using Apple key +'J'..) so that it drops into the separate audio track beneath the video. You can then just drag the audio clip to the left slightly, so that it matches up properly with the video. -
Sound lag with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Seri
Hello to you all,
I just built a new computer and the problem I have is that sound lags with WMCE in Vista. My video card is ATI 4850 (52mb) and motherboard is 790gx. The internal sound and integrated video are both disabbled. Any suggestions as to fix the sound lag while watching TV on Media Center? I have no problems with music or games with this. Thanks to all.Just to confirm that deselecting entries in the "headphone detection" tab the creative audio panel seems to provide a temporary (but not an acceptable permanent) solution.
"Automatically mute speakers" provides the workaround but "automatically enable headphone settings" also needs to be deselected otherwise the PC will set to "headphone" on resume (rather than "5:" for example).
So it could be that on resuming from standby it is setting some internal headphone settings to mute the speakers.
I have created a support ticket hoping that this and the other post above might bring about a driver update.
Will keep testing and post any updates. -
Sound lag in with SWF in browser
Hi,
I am working on a presentation that synchs a voice track with
animated text. When I view in Flash Player 8 everything is fine.
When I view the SWF in Internet Explorer, the text lags behind the
voice and seems to get slower as the presentation continues. Any
ideas why this is happening?
Flash 8, Windows 2000, IE 6.
I am on deadline and desperate. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
HenryFixed it myself. In the properties tab for the sound, changed
sync from "Event" to "Streaming". -
I am experiencing up to 1 second lag time between when i should hear a sound, and when it plays. This is extremely anoying while playing games, ie. car crashes into wall and crash sound plays 1 second after it happens. This issue seems to affect all sounds effects in all games. Are others having this issue, and will this be fixed in an upcoming patch?
Is that flash games? I don't use e71 for games, but i've noticed there is a delay when playing flash animations.

I puchised IdeaPad Flex 2 14 a few months ago and recently have problem with audio - the sound starts lagging, especially if I am doing something else on laptop. Also it is getting very slow in general, which is quite weird for a brand new laptop. And I am not using a lot of programs just browsers and Office files + Spotify. Anyone having similar problems?
So, even if you long press the power button, the power light keeps blinking?
Try pressing the power button for upto 30-40 seconds. The system should turn off.
what is your battery indicator color? (or the charging light)

TS1702 Sound lag in GarageBand app on iPad 4 + bluetooth connected to heardphone.
I use GarageBand on iPad (4th generation). I record several tracks using built-in speaker. But as soon as I connect bluetooth heardphones to iPad the active GB instrument starts to sound with ~1 second delay.
Interestingly the latency occurs for signal from ACTIVE INSTRUMENT ONLY (no delay for recorded GB tracks)
That's why I assume that the lag happens on GB end but not on iOS or on bluetooth receiver (Phillips SHB9100) end.
Everything goes back to normal as soon as I listen output sound via jack or built-in speaker. So currently I have to connect headphones via jack to monitor sound while I record to GB.
Can anybody advise please:
How to eliminate the lag for sound from active GB instrument in case I use Bluethooth sound output?
Probably the same issue is discussed here: http://www.ifans.com/forums/threads/bluetooth-delay.211444/ (no solution given)Hi Meg thanks for the advice, I'm concerned about resetting both devices with no access to my iTunes, I've previously had issues where it would require iTunes to reset properly. Second issue is installing the same sharing app on the iPhone with no access to AppStore while I have no data on the phone. Guess I'll have to wait till I get home to access those photos on any other device... Ohwell.
I think theres an assumption made by Apple that users of iPad and iPhone would always have access to the Internet, at the very least on the iPhone. Evidently thats not the case, they just didn't think it through when designing it. Hope they take notes on this forum and release hotspot functionality on iPad, that would really solve slow BT transfer speed problem also. BT has always been slow with file transfer, not really aware of it's best use.
Thanks anyways Meg, appreciate the answer. -
Sound lags when button is clicked
Hello!
I'm having a problem here, I hope someone can help me out.
I have converted a SmartShape to a button. When clicked, I want it to play an 'incorrect sound'.
I selected 'Play Audio' on succes.
When I click the button, it plays the sound indeed but only after a 3 seconds lag. But I would like it to play the sound immediately.
There's nothing wrong with the audio file, it starts immediately. I gues it has something to do with Captivate only playing sounds after a small pause?
I have another question but I will post it in new thread.
Thank you!
Sara@Lilybiri: inderdaad ;-)
Well, the problem is solved. I still don't know what actually caused the delay. I just deleted everything and started over, and now it works. I know for sure there was no silence in the beginning of the file, as I can show you in this screenprint.
Anyway, thank you very much for your replies!

Sound lags behind video when streaming from itunes to atv 2
I have some of my itunes movies in .mov format on my imac. I convert them so it can be viewed on my new atv 2 using the advanced, "create ipad or apple tv version" option. When I play them the sound starts fine but after a few minutes it starts to lag behind the video. The longer the movie plays, the bigger the gap is between sound and video. After about an hour of playing the sound is about 7 or 8 seconds out of sync with the video. Apple tv is wired to my router which is n/g/b capable and is connected via hdmi and optical sound cable. Watching rented movies from the itunes store or netflix the sound is fine. I tried converting the movies with another program but have the same results. Does anybody have any idea on how to fix this problem? Thank You.
used handbrake and everything is fine.

Hello,
I have a problem with my 3250. Somewhere in discussions i saw topic "3250 - Lag on video".
Lag between picture and sound not just in video, it is also in games, music, video, flash player. For example: snakes game, sound of moving along menu isnt sync with keyboard.
I've just updated software to v4.14 with Nokia Software updater - nothing.
I dont know what to do, HELP please!I guess this problem is related only to your phone buddy. I haven't seen any 3250 users complaining about this. I guess you need to go to your nearest NCSC.
List of Nokia phones I've used: 3310, 3315, 3200, 6600,3250, N73 ME, N95 8GB, 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia X6 16 GB (currently using this). -
I purchased iTunes movies and when I try to play them using iTunes on my windows 8 laptop, the audio lags and is staticy. Any ideas?
yes - very much expected if your sound was in the timeline
and set to "Stream". Stream sounds get
embedded into the timeline and thereby forcing the animation
to remain in sync with it - once
removed then the animation is not really in sync with
anything and it's dependant on the speed of
the processor during runtime as to ohow fast the player
renders each frame.
with streaming sound, the player will actually drop frames if
it has to to keep up with the audio.
many developers, if needing to sync animation to time but
have no need for audio, will "record" a
bit of dead/empty soundtrack and place it on the timeline -
repeating and set to stream to keep the
animation in sync with the frame rate.
flash is dynamic - it is not pre-rendered, fixed frame rate
video format - it renders on the fly and
"heavy" animations and/or slower processors will cause slower
playback depending. of course the
differences are very subtle with higher end machines and
movies that are well optimized.
