Sound Level adjustment causes sound bumps in video

Hi, When I adjust the sound level on an MP3 track two sound bumps/thuds/heart beats are magically inserted into the center of the main video's audio. They do not show up at the point of the adjustment handles, nor at the transitions. In fact, when zoomed in a lot, they seem to be on each side of the video icon for the particular video segment. They come in pairs and are about a second apart. This isn't the sound glitches at the transitions about which many write. Anyone else experience this?

I've tried that slider on iDVD with no effect. Not sure what it is for, in fact. Maybe someone else can help. David Pogue's Missing Manual book on iMovie and iDVD doesn't mention that control.
But I do know that to adjust the sound within the project, you need to be in iMovie. There are several editing tools to add sounds, adjust levels, etc. I have in fact found this to be the most time consuming part - not technically, but to produce a project where the sounds are not too loud or too soft, insert the appropriate background music, edit out peaks, etc. Techincally easy to do each piece but a lot of work to really get the audio to match and enhance the project.

MacPro whirring sound with Flash video

I have a MacPro (early 2008) with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card. Whenever I'm on a website using Safari that displays Flash video (an ad or a slideshow, etc) I hear a medium-pitched whirring sound. Despite sticking my ear close to the inside of the Mac, I can't determine if it's coming from the video card, a fan, or a hard drive. I read that there is a recall on certain serials of this video card but the defect would cause distorted or no video at all. I'm using the latest version of Snow Leopard with 8gb ram. Mac Pro QuadCore Intel Xeon 2x2.8Ghz.
Any feedback is appreciated.

This could be coming from the fan on the video card. Think of it this way, when flash comes up on screen, it uses more video processing power. This in turn heats up the GPU, which in turn can increase the fan speed and thereby elevating the volume level of the fan in operation.
This isn't necessarily the issue, but there is a better than average possibility, and it does happen to fit the facts. How does it sound when you try other graphically intensive operations on the computer? If it does the same thing I think you have found your answer.
Doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, but I don't have alot for comparison as I have a pair of video cards in my computer, but they never got the chance to use factory cooling as before I installed them, I added Arctic Cooling Accelero Pro V2 to each card. These are super quiet.

HELP rebalancing the sound of a video

I've recorded a live concert for saxophone and piano with canon FS100 and beachteck phantom power with 2 mics: Audio technica At 4033 and shure PG 48.
Allright for the 2nd part of the concert but in the 1st part the input volume of the 2 mics was balaced wrong: the piano volume is to high and the saxophone is too low.
Is there a video editing software that enables me to rebalance the sound of the video by lowering the level of the piano or rising the level of the saxophone ?

Hopefully the audio from each mic was recorded on its own channel/track and not mixed together. If so, almost any audio editing program or NLE could be used to adjust the levels of each audio channel independently; FCE, FCP, SoundTrack Pro would all work.
However, if the audio was recorded mixed, it would be extremely difficult (if not impossible) to do what you want.

How do I mute the sound from the video camera when burning a DVD

Hi there. I'm a new user of Elements 8. I have compiled some clips and added a soundtrack to the movie, When you preview the file you don't hear the sound from the video camera but when I burn it to a DVD you still hear the video background. How do I burn the DVD without the background sound from the video camera? On the DVD I only want to hear the soundtrack I added.

Thanks guys. Both options worked. Dowside to deleting audio (option I went with) appears to be that you lose the audio forever. So if I ever wanted to bring the audio back I wouldn't be able to.
You are partially correct in that the Audio is no longer on your Timeline. It is still in your Project Panel, and you can move it back to your Timeline if ever needed. The complete removal from the Timeline is why I work with the Audio Mixer in cases like this. Also, on could alter the Gain on a Clip by Clip basis.
With using the audio mixer it appeared I had to mute each clip separately. When I highlighted all the clips and selected mute for audio 1 it wouldn't mute all of the selected clips.
The Audio Mixer works at the Track-level, and not at the Clip-level. That is why I use it so often - one click, or slider adjustment affects the entire chosen Track. If it did not work at a Track-level for you, something is wrong. Now, if one has Clips on different Tracks, then Muting of all of those would be required, or one would have address things on a Clip-level basis.
Any way to use the audio mixer to mute the clips in mass?
See above for how it should work, and also the exceptions - Audio on several Audio Tracks.
Good luck, and remember that your Audio still resides in the Project Panel, should you ever need it again.

No sound with certain videos

Using Firefox I have sound at Youtube but not at a local tv station
website.
If I try to view the video listed below, I can not hear the voice of
the news person but I can hear the commercial before the video plays. It is EXTREMELY frustrating....

I can hear the commercial without problems, but I can hardly hear the sound of the video without setting the volume to a higher level. The default seems to be 50% and even at 100% it is still not as loud of that commercial.

Don't edit the audio into the timeline. Or pull the audio level down to zero in the inspector or on the audio waveform in the timeline.

Airplay only sound but no video

I have iPad Air. AirPlay has suddenly stopped working properly, now only getting sound but no video. How to fix and what is the cause of this problem? Please help!

Satellite C660 - No sound playing HD video AVCHD files

I just bought this C660 but when I insert my SD card with hd video file recorded on JVC camcorder I couldn't hear a sound from the video played.
But I test the sample video.
The video and sound is working.
The HD video played was crystal clear but no sound.
What could be the problem?
Please suggest if there's any need to adjust any setting on this laptap.

It seems to be a codec issue.
Possibly you need some additional codex if you play such files
I would also recommend checking some different playback tools.
Test the recorded clips using *VLC player and Splash*
I read that Splash is a HD video player. It plays all High Definition AVCHD/H.264 camcorder clips and movies with no problems and you don't need any additional codecs.

You may have already checked the settings, but it still sounds like you have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

Rendering in Sound Bumps

We've had a weird problem on the last two projects, which is that audio recorded through the voiceover tool develops sound bumps or clicks after being rendered. The files play normally in the viewer with no problems whatsoever. But when we put them in the timeline and render them, suddenly there's a bump/click/glitch. Sometimes this happens when there's an audio filter attached (such as Soundsoap). Sometimes with no filter. Sometimes it happens beneath a transition in the video (cross-dissolve, etc.) sometimes not. And sometimes they seem to develop after a few editing sessions over a few days. In other words, on Monday they're not there, but on Thursday the same audio clip suddenly develops a sound glitch. Anyone else have this problem and any ideas on how to solve it? And sorry, we're using FCP 4.5 on OSX 10.3.9

We always record at 48Khz but this time I wasn't running it, so not sure on that. I'll check and see if that's what's giving us these bumps. As for V/O tool, the one thing it's good for is news, even if it's a 10-min news mag piece, which is what we were doing. We offered to take the guy into a proper sound studio on our dime, but, like most correspondents, he wanted to be able to lay down the voice track as he wached the footage on the monitor and then tweak the shots and his script accordingly. We found that if you use an old- school lip mic you get decent sound and minimal bkgd noise. No doubt the sound could be better, but in terms of efficiency it's wicked fast. Especially if you're working with a smart correspondent.

Clicking sound when recording Video

When I record video, a clicking/whirring noise made by the camera is recorded on the video. I'm thinking it's the autofocus, or zoom (although it seems to make the noise even if I am not using the zoom.)Any ideas on what is causing this or how to get rid of it?Thanks!

It has an external mic jack that I use to connect an external mic to (among other upgrades) You can attach an external mic onto the hotshoe plate on the SX60. There maybe a workaround for an external mic for your SX50, but you'll have to ask around here on site, or goggle it. BTW...this is a Canon Site for all Canon Cameras and gear. But does'nt have a catogory just for the SX50. But you're in the right place, powershot posts.

Turn off Find My iPhone in iCloud on the iDevice.
Log out of iMessage, Facetime, remove Apple ID from iTunes & App Store.
Use Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set it up as a new iPhone with your own Apple ID.

Looking for a simple app to add sound to my video...

Hi,
I've been trying to find a very simple app. I want to add music (from my IPhone 4) to my own video (on my iPhone 4).
I'm pretty sure iMovie will do it, but it's 20MB and that's a lot of space for a lot of functionality that I don't want or need.
Does anyone know a basic/simple app to add sound to my video???

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay

Suddenly No Sound on YouTube Videos

In the last couple of weeks, I suddenly have no sound on YouTube Videos and a few other Interent sites. I still have sound for some sites such as Ted.com and sound for local and previously downloaded videos so I know my sound card works. I've double checked the sound volumes in Preferences and have tried restarting the computer. Any suggestions?
