Sound messing up on a Pavilion dv7

Pavilion dv7
Windows Vista 64-bit
I got this computer and it seems that the sound will mess up when it goes into standby. Sometimes when I wake it up the speaker will not play nor the headphone jacks but then it will take as little as loging off the user and in log off the sound will come back. Any paches for this?

  • No sound from left speaker on Pavilion DV7-3128CA laptop

I have a DV7 laptop that I purchased in May 2010.  I have always used headphones for this laptop.  Over the last few months, I had trouble getting audio from the left side of the headphones.  Usually I just adjusted the headphone cord and the problem went away.  As time progressed, it became increasingly difficult to get audio, but i figured it was just a loose connection on my headphones.  .  I then tried a different set of headphones in both headphone terminals and the same result, minimal audio at best.  It seems the right hand speaker on the jack is perfect, music and DVD's, it is just the left side of the audio on the headphone jacks.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59154.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio in both speakers.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1130us IDT HD sound card problem: recording levels too high

I have been trying to get the IDT HD sound card in my HP Pavilion dv7-1130us laptop to allow me to switch from "microphone" to "Line In" input signal. I cannot find an option anywhere in the laptop do this. There is not a separate Line-In jack on the laptop. The mike jack is it.
The reason I'm trying to change the input setting is that I am using Audacity/Lame (the Win 7-compatible Beta version) to convert old cassettes to MP3. My laptop came with Vista but I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) earlier this year.
The problem is that recording levels are way too high using the mike input and so the recording comes out harsh and distorted. I have tried all possible recording level adjustments on the tape deck (no option), IDT sound card control panel, Windows device manager, etc.
From what I am reading on the online Audacity forums, using a mike input will cause the recording levels to be too high, and the setting has to be changed to "Line In" and not "microphone." Is there not a way to do that with this laptop and sound card?
The HP Support Assistant tells me that the driver for my sound card is up-to-date.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. I've been trying to find a solution on my own for a couple days with no luck.

  • HP Pavilion DV7-6154nr incorrect sound driver?

Hello, i purchased this laptop a few years ago, and since then I've had to reformat and upgrade my windows install.
After the first time I did a hard-drive format, i noticed my audio quality was MUCH worse, and my lap was NOT using the intergrated Subwoofer(Beats Audio). I have audio, but its not the same quality.
I have been advised to install the IDT sound drivers for my model, but I still can't access the beats audio interface after, nor will the subwoofer or enhanced sound work.
After installing the recommended sound drivers, I go to Control Panel>Sound and attempt to find anything with a hint of the beats audio interface or settings, but all I see is "2-High Definition Audio Device" speakers, and Device manager lists 2 audio interfaces, "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and " High Definition Audio Device"
I'm pretty sure theres nothing wrong with my speakers, they just stopped using the enhanced sound and subwoofer after my reformat, right after in fact.

  • My brand new hp pavilion dv7 has no sound-seemed as if it did first day

new pavilion dv7-6c20us had a normal windows default beep 1st day-never tried anything with sound til last nite-tried to watch video for 1st time and no sound-did system restore still no sound. IT person at my job looked it over too and is lost as well. Windows 7 . I haven't used laptop at all except for dragging pictures from external hard drive onto it. I can play a movie with sound on tv with HDMI cable, and in sounds looks like its working but isn't audible. I can hear a click when I hit mute with headphones on.

If speakers are set as default and still no sound go to Device Manager and uninstall the IDT Audio device, choosing to also delete the driver. Retart the laptop and install the latest IDT driver from your models driver page. You may want to download and save it first in your Download folder.

    Hi,
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar ans select 'Playback Devices'.  Double click the 'Speakers and Headphones' entry and in the following window, click the Enhancements tab.  In the box containing these enhancements, make sure there is only a tick against 'Loudness Equalization' - remove any others.  Next click the Advanced tab and check that '16bit, 48000Hz ( DVD Quality )' is showing - if it isn't choose this selection from the dropdown box.  Click Apply and then click OK on all remaining open windows.

  • No Sound Speakers on computer not working, but head phones are for HP Pavilion Dv7

The speakers on my Hp Pavilion DV7-3164cl have stopped working. The only time sound works is when I use headphones or hook up the computer to my tv. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the IDT High Definition Audio Codec (Driver Version 6.1.6345.0) and the ATI High Definition Audio Device (Driver Version 5.0.7000.6) for my computer via device manager. I recently updated the HP Support program for my computer, but even when I tried to do a system restore it didn't fix the problem.  I'm begining to think it could be a faulty wiring issue, but I'm not sure how to fix that. Any ideas?
My operating system is Windows 7 Home Operating System

    Hi,
As a last try you can perform a recovery on the computer (Reset to factoy settings) by tapping F11 as soon as you turn it ON. Make sure to have your data backed up before doing recovery.
HP Notebook PCs - Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery c01895783
If recovery also doesnt help then it has to be speaker issue. To fix that you can call HP Technical Support to get it replaced if you still have a warranty on the notebook.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
