Sound not playing in apps/games without headphones

My iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1 is not playing sound through the speakers when in game.
This has been a problem that I have held off on for awhile now.
Here is relavent information:
1. Sound works when headphones are plugged in. Therefore, in game settings are not set to muted.
2. Music, Youtube, phone call speaker work. They can be played without headphones when the play button is pressed.
3. The volume buttons on the side do absolutely nothing, Ringer does not show up.
4. The switch above the volume buttons is not on silent.
5. I have reset the device multiple times. I have reset settings in General.
6. I have tried cleaning the headphone jack with a q-tip and the dock connector with a toothbrush.
I'm hoping to find a solution without having to resort to a restore which may not even solve the problem.
Also way past warranty, so not an option.

Okay, so I am wanting to listen to audio, but it is not working through my speakers or headphones. Last time that this happened, I know that it had something to do with airplay, since I remember doing something with airplay. There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and anything is plugged in, unplug it before putting the system to sleep.
3. If you've installed something called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and reboot. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. If you've installed an equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and reboot.
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Reboot and test.
9. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
10. Reset the NVRAM.
11. Reset the SMC.
12. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
13. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are unable to download the purchases from your purchase history, because iTunes believes the songs to be in your library. It may be necessary to delete the items from your library, then re-download from your purchase history. Before doing so, you may want to take note of which song are available for re-download:

I understand the notebook produces sound from both headphones and speakers. I will do my best to assist you! The only troubleshooting I could suggest in this thread: Headphones plugged in, but speakers are still playing sound

StopAllSounds vs. new Streaming Sound not playing

In my timeline, I'm using a stopAllSounds action (because the
user could be coming from anywhere in the movie and I need to stop
whatever narration might be playing), then, in the next frame, I'm
trying to stream a new sound. My problem is that the streaming
sound doesn't play. I've tried adding a few frames between the
stopAll Sounds action and the start of the streaming sound, but
that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

I was about to try your suggestion, but after sending a few more test emails, I discovered that it does in fact play the sound sometimes. I sent about 20 test emails, and they were all received using the "idle" command, with about 75% of them playing the sound. There was a 5-10 second delay between the messages being received and the sound playing that I don't remember from Snow Leopard, but I'm not positive about that.
It shouldn't be the actual sound that is the issue, being that it is played sometimes, but I still don't know why it's not playing every time. I tried receiving messages with the app running in the background, with it minimized, and with it as the active window, but I couldn't find any specific instance that caused it to not play the sound.
I wasn't having this issue in Mail 4. It didn't start until I installed Lion, which I did a clean install of, if it matters.
I'm still open to thoughts on this, and thank you for your help.

Windows Server 2012 R2 RDWeb - Sound Not Playing

I am trying to get sound to play on Internet Explorer which is published through RDWeb.
I am using a sound test page which works fine (http://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_stereo.php) locally but will not play sound through RDWeb.
The Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services are running on the Remote Session Hosts and Remote Web App server. The settings under "Collections > Remote Apps > Client Settings" are all ticked (Audio and Video Playback, Audio
Recording etc). I haven't come across anything else online of settings to check.
Does anyone know why this isn't working?

Have you check the group policy setting related to audio redirection?
Here I would like you to verify whether you have enabled Audio and Video Playback Gpo setting on RDSH server.
Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Device and Resource Redirection
Allow audio and video playback redirection: Enabled
Allow audio recording redirection (For recording): Enabled

Sound not playing through any device.

Sound will not play through any device I try. I tired re installing all the drivers messing around with the playback device
and sound mixer and tried going through the audio jack in the back the headphone jack in the front hdmi to my tv and usb wireless headset none of them worked. and tried them all on with something other than my pc and the devices themselves work. i honestly
dont know what else to try is it something with windows or maybe my graphics card or something else? please help.

When did this issue occur ?Have you made any modifications to the machine ? Will the built-in sound device work ?Have you tried to update the motherboard from the manufacturer website to have a check ?
You may need to download the sound card driver from the manufacturer for the sound devices to have a check.
If only the outer device won`t work and both of them are USB devices ,it is recommended to reinstall the USB controller driver, too .
If the issue occured recently ,we can perform a system restore to recover the machine to a previous point to have a check. Please note we will miss some configurations after the restore point .

Hi.
Now, I made a music player for a website. When I tested
(previewed) it in flash it did not play with sound. However,
through the exterior swf player it played with sound as designed.
So I uploaded it onto the server, and as you might guess it didn't
work. It isn't part of the main .swf, the music player is loaded on
a level above it. The weird thing is when I type in the .swf name
into the browser, loading it by itself, the sound works. Can anyone
help?

Based on a quick look at your site, I would say the problem
has to do with the scope of your sound objects, but it's hard to
say without looking at your code... Some quick tips:
1. Be conscious of where you are defining your sound objects:
var song1_sound = new Sound(target);
target needs to be a movie clip (it can refer to the clip
where your sound is defined by using the this keyword). Where the
sound object is defined and target both need to be kept track of
2. When you call the sound object, make sure you are
referencing the correct scope. Say you defined your sound in the
root movie clip but called it from a loaded movie clip. you would
need to refer to it as _parent.song1_sound (if the loaded clip was
a child of the root clip) or _root.song1_sound (make sure _lockroot
property of loaded clip is undefined or false). Simply calling
song1_sound will not work in this example.
3. Make sure enough of your sound has loaded before the
player is activated, otherwise, you may hear nothing. Use the
onLoad handler:

// define onLoad handler
song1_sound.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {
// activate player
// load sound; note that the false parameter means the sound

"New Message" Sound Not Playing In Mail 5

Since I have upgraded to OS X Lion and Mail 5, I have noticed that the "new message" sound is not playing when I receive a new email. I have checked the settings, and the option for this is enabled. I am using Gmail and have the "idle command" option enabled, and I suspect that this may be involved in the issue.
I have read that in the past Mail had an issue where it would only play the "new message" sound if it had received the new message by polling the server. If the new message was received through the "idle" command, then the "new message" sound would not be played. Perhaps this is the same bug.
Is anyone else having this issue? I know I could just turn off the "idle" command, but I'm looking for an actual fix to the underlying issue. I've reported it to Apple, but I would like to see if anyone else has noticed this.

Notification sound not playing on ipad IOS 7

When I recieve eMails or Alert notifications, the sounds do not play on my iPad 3G Retina Display, IOS 7.
But the sounds do play on my iPhone 3G! (Also IOS 7).
The settings are the same.
All other sounds play normally (Music, Videos etc.).
I have tried with various sounds.
Am I missing something???

Im developing a flash lite 2 game and im trying to play mp3
sound effects ive imported to the projects libary but when I run it
on the Nokia 5300 and 6300 emulators the sounds dont play.
Im using the following actionscript to load and play the
sound.

When I play the zipped fla file in Device Central, it works
fine with flash player 5 and >. However, when I publish the
settings to play in Flash Lite 2.0, the output screen comes up with
the error: FLERR bad sound error. I changed the mp3 to different
MHz but no luck. Please let me know what am I doing wrong.
