Sound not working after reinstall
I have a Toshiba Tecra A8514 and I had to re-install my windows XP and since then my audio is not working, I have tried to install the audio driver on the site but that didnt work, any help on the matter would be great.
So you installed this driver without success.
Realtek HD Audio Driver for Windows XP
My guess is that you did not install in the correct order. You might want to start over. It's important to install the chipset software followed by the display driver before any other driver.
--------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
Install them in this order. Restart after each driver and take the time to test between drivers. Some will apply and some won't.
Chipset software
Display driver
Sound driver
Modem Driver
If your machine has the internal WiFi card, then install the WLAN driver
ACPI Common Modules
Toshiba Console
Display Hotkey utility
Touchpad Driver
Toshiba Power Saver Utility
Toshiba Controls
Toshiba Utilities
--------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
I would restore the hard drive myself. All this stuff is correctly preinstalled. Replacement media can be ordered by calling Toshiba Customer Service at 800-457-7777. Have the computer's serial number and a credit card handy.

Sound not working after checking for driver updates and resetting bios
I am running a (HP Pavilion dv7-6c60us Entertainment Notebook PC)
I had muted the sound and did a system upgrad prompted by my HP assistant after logging on. Now when I try to get sound nothing happens. So I went out to the support site and checked for driver updates and none were found. So I then went into my system bios and reset it as stated in a support for sound not working and still no sound. HOW DO I GET MY SOUND TO WORK AGAIN?From your models support page Download & Save the latest Audio driver.Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features- Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.

Safari not working after reinstall
Hi there,
I had issues with my Safari (it woudn't start after the new upgrade), so I had to reinstall it (had to use AppDelete). The reinstallation worked fine, the program now starts (it used to get stuck at the beginning, with the icon bouncing on the dock and doing nothing), but now the browser doesen't seem to go on the internet anymore. All it does is waiting and timing out. Chrome,Opera and Firefox are working just fine. I am guessing the problem is the new installation, how can I fix this? I'm on the latest version of Lion, latest version of Safari downloaded from the official Apple site.
Thanks in advanceIt is not very clear what you did, therefore difficult to recommend something. I understand you upgraded from SL to Lion, and Safari did not work AFTER that upgrade? Strange, does not seem plausible. Or what other upgrade did you do? Safari is a component of the system, and should NEVER be deleted via AppDelete or any other similar app.
As I do not know what you exactly did, I would recommend to download the 10.7.2 combo update (a dmg, around 1 GB), reinstall it as a separate download. After restart, all should be again fine.
How did you reinstall Safari after deleting it with AppDelete? You write ‘The reinstallation worked fine’, could you clarify what you did? -
Sound not working after resuming on maverik
Sound stops working after resuming my Mbp. Reseting PRam solves this issue but its tempory. I have to restart my system everytime this issue occurs.
I have one more issue regarding sound, which might be just another bug.
When I plug my headphone, sound doesnt switch to head phone and I cant switch manually too from system preferences. To fix this issue, I have to close the lid and wait for a while for system to sleep and resume system. after resuming, Os starts detecting my headphone. strange! For those of you reading this just thought that I would update you. After spending 90 minutes on the phone and resetting/restoring the phone twice, with two different level of tech support they have deemed this a hardware issue now. This phone worked perfectly fine before the ios 6.1.2 update that was done yesterday. Worked fine, played music, took calls, did all the sounds, then updated and now nothing!
Our family has 4 iphones, several ipods and 2 ipads. I am now left with a phone just out of warranty (by 2 mo) and no choice but to pay the $200 to apple to get another phone. Apparently this is a steal because a new 4s costs $600.! lol. I am greatly disappointed. I have been given the corporate phone number and assured that there would be someone in customer service to talk to, but there was not, no surprise to me. Anyone else have any suggestions? -

Sound not working after 10.9.4 Mavericks Update - HELP!
My sound does not seem to be working following the latest update to Mavericks (10.9.4). I am running a 2012 Retina Macbook Pro. Sound does not work with speakers, headphones or built-in sounds. Before anyone asks, no its not on mute, I have checked the Audio Midi setup and Sound settings and everything is as they were prior to the update, so the sound should still be working.
I have tried resetting the SMC and PRAM, no luck yet. Also tried re-installing the update but did not work.
Any help is greatly appreciated! So I had the same problem; Actually other problems occurred after upgrade 10.9.2 (Thunderbolt related issues) and now after upgrading to 10.9.4 my internal sound disappeared.
The solutions described above made it worse; Sorry sykosoft .. but your solutions is even dangerous ;
I spend almost a Day finding out how to restore my internal audio devices ..
So what I discovered, this is a software issue;
Update on update on update without any clean install resulted in some filty .plist files
com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist
com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
looking in those files I discovered some settings pointing towards RabbitEars .. perhaps I tried it once in a previous life but now I do believe the upgrade took by incident the wrong 'device' as standard ..
So I looked up and the only thing I could do was finding .kext and other related stuff .. only able to remove it commando wise = terminal
after rebooting for the 722th time performing a SMC and PRAM for the 666th time the result was ... NO STANDARD devices detected
THe only solution working is :
A recovery install;
https://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
In my case I encountered a problem; My recovery failed (reboot press and hold CMD+R, selecting install fresh OS X)
I find out it was due to my FileVault encrypted HD; So first I uncrypted (switched off FileVault) my HD, and even created a USB recovery disk (not needed)
Tadaaaa 45 minutes later all problems solved, without loosing data or reinstalling all programs ..
*feeling relieved* I thought sharing my pain and solution would save you hours finding out how to repair, hoping PRAM and SMC reset would solve it .. -
HP Pavilion DV5000 : Conexant Audio HD sound not working after upgrade XP to Windows 7
On HP support site there are no drivers for Windows 7 for Conexant Audio HD soundcard in HP Pavilion DV5000.
Have tried installing Vista drivers in stead, does not work.
Have tried renaming unzipped Vista files to camcaud.sys & camchal.sys and copied them into Windows/System32/Drivers and reboot, does not work. This is the only solution I found after reading forums for several hours, but does not work.
Would very much appreciate help.

Photo Booth Not working after reinstalling my OS
A bunch of programs got stolen from me while I was connected to the internet. My whole CS, dreamweaver and photobooth of all apps. So I reinstalled my OS so that photobooth would be back on. Now when I open it its just a blank screen.. like my camera isnt working or something. Not even, there isnt even a black screen. Its just blank. It used to work somewhat when I reinstalled it but all the view modes for the camera looked wacked out. Can anyone help me to fix my photobooth?

The same happened after i upgraded my MBA.
Welcome to Discussions, palodoma !
Some other things you can try if necessary:
(1) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions, restart your Mac, and test whether the problem persists.
(2) Try all relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
(3) If you updated using your Macs' > Software Update... feature,
use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and install the
Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo): http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
Immediately after the restart that completes the update, repair permisssions again.
Then test whether your problem persists.
We will watch for your status update.

Mail search function does not work after reinstalling
Hello!
I recently had to re-install Leopard on my MacBook Pro.
I made a clean install so, I manually copied the Mail folder and preferences from my old home folder to the new one.
All mails are present, and everything works great, apart from the fact that the search function does not work.
I can search for new mails (that came after the reinstall) but the old ones "dont exist" as far as the mail.app goes.
What can I do about it ?It would probably be easier to do the entire hard drive. The App Store also uses Spotlight, so updating it will help there also. It takes some time to re-index and your computer will/may run slower until it is done.
Direct answer to your question is go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Then go to System Preferences/Spotlight per the linked article and in your user folder, select Library/Mail/V2.

Satellite M100 sound not working after installing Windows 7
Everything else is working after this upgrade except the sound. Have tried everything. Any suggestions?
Many Thanks.
RoryHi,
For me the case is clear: Windows 7 is not the market as yet and its not released as yet. So I think this is the problem.
Anyway, have you tried to install the driver from the Toshiba website? There you can also find the Synaptics driver. Its for Vista but normally the drivers for Vista are also work in Windows 7. Its worth a try.
http://www.csd.toshiba.com
Have you tried the key combination FN+F9? So you can enable and disable the touchpad but I doubt that this works. Normally you need the Toshiba utility for this

[Solved (kind of)] Suspend not working after reinstall
Hi folks.
I did a reinstall 2 days ago and since then suspend / resume after a suspend to ram is not working. (Thinkpad x200)
As a desktop i use kde4, i also tried a dbus suspend and a pm-suspend without any X running.
Following happens using arch kernel:
- suspend is initiated and it immediately resumes;
Following happens when using my own kernel + config:
- suspend works (moon led starts blinking and finally the fan stops and the moon is the only led shining)
- after i open the lid or press the power button resume starts but the moon led is aktive, only the cpu fan starts running;
unfortunately i don't know how to log this process, as the display is not working and there's no log available of the resume process.
my rc.conf starts following daemons/programs:
metalog dbus thinkfan sshd
Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I have created a new Post of your own for you -- the previous Thread was unrelated to your inquiry in many ways; the Thread is no longer active.
Because you originally tagged onto someone else's Thread, it is difficult to discern whether you have indeed just reinstalled the Operating System on your system OR whether you have just picked a Post that sounded similar and added to it. To some extent, the details make the difference.
Hopefully you still have your Digital Persona Software; I do not find a replacement copy of the software in your Notebook's support pages -- I recommend you think carefully before removing your existing software. Check your Recovery Manager for the original software that was installed on your system -- the software may be available there.
The following applies to Windows 7:
Your Notebook's Support Pages:
HP Pavilion dv6-1337tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
Your Validity Sensor Driver
sp45050 Validity Fingerprint Sensor V2.1.0.2.A
Please see the following Dragon Document for help to reinstall your Digital Persona software:
Instructions to Update Digital Persona
Please understand that I have not used this Software in years -- the document is provided "As Is" and without guarantee.

Sound not working after update on 4s
Completed most recent software update now no sound is working, either in or out.
Sound not working after booting
First of all, I have tried to uninstall and then install again the drivers of the sound card for W8.1
The sound does not work if I have switched off my laptop and then boot it. If I reboot it, the sound works. It's just when I have switched off it from Windows (maybe because W8 does not a complete switch off but a kind of hibernation).
In the audio mixer of the tray the green bar which shows when it's playing sound works like it's working and if I plug some headphones on the jack port they work like a charm,
Any idea of what's happening? I've just bought this laptop last week and I'm very happy with it apart from this thingFrom your models support page Download & Save the latest Audio driver.Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features- Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.
