Sound not working on skype, or chat sites??.

I feel as if this should have been the easiest thing to fix, but for now, I haven't the slightest clue for what to do. My issue is that my skype no longer emits sounds, except for when someone logs in. Which was how I wanted it for notifications. But now, it no longer rings, or emits any type of sound while I'm in a video call whatsoever. Also, when I go on the facebook based skype, still nothing. Also, other chat based sites are not working as well. Figured it would run in correlation, but checked anyway... My computer also recently downloaded soundflower? I didn't approve of this change, and that's abut when it all started. It's also saying an old program I had, but completely deleted, could also be used as a sound output. Oh, and my mic apparently dosn't work on the omegle or meebo, says my daughter.
Things I have done so far:
- Restarted computer.
-uninstalled unnecessary applications,
also any recent ones I have downloaded.
-Checked the sound and mic preferences( Also did this on skype).
-Tried with headphones and a built in mic, if that would do anything.
Any words of wisdom, wise ones?

I'm not sure what that means, but if Soundflower really is installed, uninstall it according to the developer's instructions. Back up all data before making any changes. Reboot and test.

The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

Sound not working after checking for driver updates and resetting bios

I am running a (HP Pavilion dv7-6c60us Entertainment Notebook PC)
I had muted the sound and did a system upgrad prompted by my HP assistant after logging on. Now when I try to get sound nothing happens. So I went out to the support site and checked for driver updates and none were found. So I then went into my system bios and reset it as stated in a support for sound not working and still no sound. HOW DO I GET MY SOUND TO WORK AGAIN?

From your models support page Download & Save the latest Audio driver.Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features- Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.

Tecra M10 - Sound not working on Windows XP SP3

1. Drivers are installed from the toshiba web site.
2. Chipset drivers and sound drivers were reinstalled no luck,
3. Not Muted FN+Esc
4. Device Manger All drivers ok

If I understand you right all devices listed properly in device manager and you dont have yellow exclamation marks?!
Normally for high definition sound cards you need two patches from Microsoft:
KB835221 and KB888111.
Normally these patches are integrated in SP3 but this only works if you install the sound driver after SP3. So if you have an older version of XP without SP3 you must update to SP3 first and then install the display driver.
So in your case you should remove the current sound driver and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and system folders. Restart the notebook again. Then download and install the newest sound driver from the Realtek Hompage.

Why does sound not work on my Mac Air --all setting seem okay. OSX 10.9.2 operating systyem.

Open System Preferences > Sound > Output
Make sure the coorect output devices is selected and the Mute button is not checked.

I've been using Vista Home Premium successfully for some time. Recently, not too long after I did a clean wipe of my OS, my audio would stop working. The way it would happen is that everything would work fine until I started iTunes or another audio application and when I would hit play, things would lock up.
Upon inspection of my system resources, I'm noticing that the audio platform for Vista, via the audiodg.exe, is using close to 100% of my CPU resources, even when the computer is making no sound at all.
I've had a Sound Blaster Live! card in my computer for some time but I was not using it; I use the Realtek AC'97 audio drivers that are on my motherboard instead. I thought that the conflict may be the computer wanting to recognize my Sound Blaster, so I took it out of my computer but the problem seems to be worse.
Are there any BIOS setting that need to be adjusted for my sound to start working again?
I'm very reliant on the audio processing power of my computer (I'm in the radio industry, part-time) and this is a huge drag on my productivity.
Any tips would be much appreciated.

Good suggestion. The problem is this:
I am running on-board audio. I have an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard which runs "Realtek ALC Series AC97 Audio Driver" and there is no version for Vista. They have a version for Windows 2K/XP and one for Windows XP 64bit.
Should I use on of those and if not, then what?
UPDATE (from me):
I took a chance and found a Realtek AC'97 driver for Vista.

I went to install it and the install hung. So, I closed one of the install windows and then the InstallShield app continued like it was working. So, I hit "Restart my computer". Well, the reboot hung too. So, I reset the PC manually.
When the computer came back up, the sound worked. Hard to tell if this will fix it for good but it's promising. Chaotic. Unpredictable. Annoying.

UPDATE II (from me):
My computer is behaving the same way it was before. AUDIODG.EXE taking up 80-100% of my CPU and the sound not working.
Any other ideas?

Small update: Despite my intelligence, good looks and vast experience I use Google sometimes. To my surprise this file turns out to be a Windows one. Here is someone who is much happier, and since it is some way in my line of thinking I'll quote it, but you might take my previous advice as well:

Sound not working Notebook Envy 15 TS windows 8 and windows 8.1 - problem continues

My computer sound stopped again.

After I`ve followed David`s steps my computer`s sound started working again. But it didn`t last. The sound stopped working just one day after.
I did the procedure again, and it worked. But just for a few hours.
The second time I reinstalled the IDT codec I noticed at the device manager that there is no conflict at the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC.
Instead, the conflict appear in another item of the sound, video and game controllers topic: high definition audio device.
Is there another codec I should reinstall?
Could anyone help me?

FIX:
1. You need Time Machine
2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

I have MacBook Pro (Mid 2012). I have updated it to MAC OS Maverics.
Since then camera is not working for Skype (Version 6.8.0.351)- only at the start it works for few seconds and then it freezes.
It was working fine with Mac OS Lion.
Please suggest some wayout from this.

I just bought MBA a couple months ago now my camera is not working with skype. all im seeing here you guys said u gonna work on it. I was wondering for how long we have to wait for this to be fixed. Had an Iphone 4 for about 3 months now. This happened to the first one I had and they ended up having to replace it at the apple store just a couple weeks ago 6/2. It happened again last night to my new one. This time i was able to correct it by going to itunes, backing up the phone to icloud, and then restoring the software. Mine did not work with voice memo, but did work with headphones plugged in, and would also work on speaker. I could hear callers but they couldn't hear me. I had purchased a new case (lifeproof case at $79.99) because it comes with plugs that cover the headphone jack, and the charging port, and is also waterproof. I heard that the root cause is due to lint, dirt, etc getting inside the headphone jack. Well, must be something else. It's a 10 days old phone, and has been in this overpriced case the whole time, and I have not used the headphones. I hope this doesn't keep happening.

Isight not working in Skype

Not only is my brand new Macbook Pro 17 inch iSight camera previewing me in vibrant magenta (go figure) it's not working in Skype. The audio is working but now video, just my picture is showing. I need help as to why my camera isn't previewing in real colors nor is it working in Skype. HELP!!!

It's possible that the camera is defective, but first I would try "resetting" it by zapping the parameter RAM by holding down the Command-Option-p-r keys at startup until you hear the startup chime ring three times.
In Skype, you need to be sure you are using the latest Skype Beta software for Mac, version 2.0.0.3:

5.1 sound not working

I have a X-Fi fatalty titanium champion series sound card with logitech z5500 5. speakers running vista x64 sp. I cannot fully utilize the 5. speakers for some reason. I have updated to the latest drivers, selected 5. speakers from both windows and the creative console launcher but then i get some butchered sound from only the front left and right speakers. I know the other speakers work bc if i only use 2. then i get the sound but it lacks the entire 5. stereo effects. Please [email protected]

When testing the speakers i only have sound from the front left and right speakers. the others are silent. thats through both the vista tester and Creative tester
If that's the case I strongly suggest you test the speaker's connections out, probably on a separate PC if possible!
