Sound on one speaker only

Last night, while using iChat with another Mac user I was only getting sound from one speaker (right). Both speakers work with iTunes so it's not my hardware (I don't think it is anyway). Could this just be poor bandwidth?
Thanks.

Hi MacBoy70,
This is the iChat software preventing you getting feedback as the MacBook Pro internal Mic is in the left hand speaker grill.

  • Sound out of one speaker only

Sound has started to come out of one speaker only. i've checked cords to amplifier etc etc and that is not the issue,. Anyone else had this problem?

Hello adyomo. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Please try connecting a pair of stereo headphones to the audio port of your AirPort Express Base Station (AX). If you now get sound from both channels, the problem may still be either with the cables or the amplifier. If; however, you are still only getting sound from one channel, either the AX's audio port or its audio circuitry may have failed.

  • SOUND OF ONE SPEAKER OF NOKIA BH103 BLUETOOTH HEAD...

  • Sound from one speaker

I only get sound playback in one speaker when playing a short recording thru QT Player 7, and QT Player. The video is recored on a go pro hero 2, using a radio shack #274-397 3.5mm stereo male to 2.5mm stereo female adapter and a Drift audio external mic.

never was an answer to this question.

  • Airtunes Audio from One Speaker Only

I've been running my Airtunes device for about a month now. However, I've just noticed that the sound is only coming from one speaker. I have done all the normal things such as changed the speakers, and changed the audio cable, but the problem persists. Apart from that, the devices exhibits no other problems.
Before I send it back on warranty, anyone have any ideas on what I might be able to check. TIA.

Have the same problem mate...really annoying.... i went and bought a better quality cable but to no avail!! Bringing it to local mac service place tomorrow to get it checked out. Looks like the stereo input port is wrecked!!

  • Scratchy sound from one speaker- a35-s209

was given laptop and warned about "sound issues". seems one speaker ok, other speaker scratchy,no volume. volume control on side of laptop seems intermittent, too. tried contact cleaner and cycling control, no joy. feel issues are related, but scared to do a teardown to get to control. could it be driver? any suggestions?
    Solved!

during remote assistance from my brother, he remembered a situation in which a line-in input interfered with sound. went to volume control and muted line-in. sound cleared up immediately. thanks bro, great catch!

  • Only hear sound from one speaker

I have been going nuts trying to find help on this. There were some but not exactly the same. So here is my dilemma.
I am capturing miniDV footage from my camera (Sony DVR PC 330) and used a Sennheiser MKE 300 Shotgun Video Camera Mike to capture audio. Then I captured in into FCE and also Toast 6. Both only produced audio on the left side. Now I checked the speakers, used headset and it was the same. I listened to iTunes and audio from other sources and both speakers and headset worked fine on both sides. Only bringing in from my camera did the sound from only the left speaker. So it's my camera or external mic. Well, I checked that too and I listened to the tape with headsets and heard everything fine on both sides. So the tape has all the audio. So could it be that the firewire is bad? Or is there something I have overlooked. Last week I imported a CD into FCE and produced a CD of audio that was fine. So the program is not at fault I would think. Any ideas would be great.

    Panning on audio . . . . .>
The panning is set all the way to the left and shows -1. But this is the default setting. As when you click the little red (x) it will go to the left. And I just opened another project that works fine and it is all the way left with -1. If I move that sequence it sound less full with not bass or something, it just isn't right. So not sure this is the solution. And now I have to go out of town for a few days so will look forward to any other thoughts you all have when I return. Keep thinking

  • Problems with OSS (ALC1200, one speaker only noise)

Hi, im trying to use OSS since a half year, but never got it up running. There is always only noise/scrappy sound on the right front speaker and on the same time on the right Headphone speaker. In OSS test it says ok when testing. Devices are  /dev/oss/oss_hdaudio0/pcm0 when this occures the first time, and /dev/oss/oss_hdaudio0/spdout at the second time.
Card is the ALC1200 onboard-chip of the Asus P5Q. Its is recognised by alsa & oss as ALC888, and normally working in alsa.

I tried to turn everything off at record. Oh and this sound is only there when i play sound, not when i do nothing. Any ideas?

I'd like to use OSS instead of alsa - just for curiosity and for the rumored "better quality"
I followed wiki and got OSS working, except the same problem as stated above. First I get noise from right front speaker (pcm0) and second from spdout_std (the last one osstest testes). The second last one (spdout) gives good sound though, so I could symlink /dev/dsp to /dev/oss/oss_hdaudio0/spdout, but then how to get sound out from the optical SPDIFF output?
Has anybody solved this yet, or do I have to go back ALSA?

  • No Sound on Center Speaker, ONLY in the T

    Hello,
I am really getting crazy now ...
I got a Soundblaster Audigy with 394 Port and an Teufel Concept E Magnum 5. System.
I connected everything correct and the Sound is really great. I only got one problem ...
If I play any sounds, for eg. mp3 in Winamp there is no Sound on my Center Speaker.
I selected 5. System in the Creative Mixer and also in Windows, in the Audio Console bla bla. The funny thing is, if I click test, there is a nice Voice telling me "center" from my center speaker. And also Call of Duty 2 works fine. But why the hell is there no Sound if I am listing music?
First I got Audigy Driver .3 from the CD and got the same problem, so I updated via automatic softwareupdate yesterday and the center worked. But today it is not working any more (only in the test and over eax stuff ...). i also reupdated today, but there is still no sound
    Can you pleas help me?
    Some more Informations:
    Windows 2000 SP4
Please tell me what is my fault? I am getting crazy

God **bleep**, I am so stupid Yesterday a messed arround with CMSS and I didn't tryed stereo-surround
Thank you You helped me not getting crazy ;D

  • Narration - sound in one earphone only

    Hello all,
Strange (and frustrating) audio problem, hoping someone can help.
When I import my pre-recorded monaural narration files (from files and folders), I can only hear it in one earphone, whether in the preview mode or in the rendered video. But, if I double-click on the file name in the media panel, which brings up a preview window, the audio is perfect in both ears when played there.  Also, if I create a new project, again import the pre-recorded narration in the standard manner (selected from files and folders), I properly hear it in both earphones. Very aggravating.
Could it be a settings situation in the project where it is not functioning properly?
I'm using PE 3 with XP.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
    Charles

    Charles,
    Welcome to the forum.
Along with Steve's suggestion for Fill-Left, or Fill-Right, one can also duplicate that mono Clip, placing it on another mono Audio Track *. Then, they can go to Audio Mixer, and Pan one to the left, and the other to the right, to suit, to create a faux stereo. If necessary, one could even do the Pans Keyframed over time to move the signals across the stereo sound stage.
PrE does a mix-down to stereo (2-channel), with any output.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * Note: PrE will ONLY place mono (1-channel) Clips onto mono Audio Tracks, stereo (2-channel) Clips onto a stereo Audio Track, and 5.1 (6-channel) Clips onto a 5.1 Audio Track. Remember, PrE will mix-down 6-channel Clips to stereo on output.

  • Popping sound from right speaker only of imac

I recently bought a (refurbished) September 2013 model imac 21.5".  Looks great, but only one problem when I play any audio/ video, streamed or local, there come a clicking and popping sound from the right side only. Sounds like fireworks from a distance.  No such noise through headphone.  I tried all solutions suggested on different forums.  No success.  Can someone out there help, before I decide to take it to the apple store or return it?

By starting a new thread instead of re-viving an old one,
suggestions would be addressed to you directly...
However you may choose to discuss the matter with
an Apple Store specialist or Genius, and contact one
nearest your location for an appointment date/time
for someone to perform diagnostic testing. If the unit
is covered under AppleCare or a the complementary
warranty at that time, further suggestions for repair
if needed could be discussed &/or arranged.

  • Sound from one channel only + Apple Support

    Hey,
I've had my 30 gig iPod 5G since February, and the sound only comes out of one ear (the right channel). To make the sound return on the left channel, i can do two things:
Pull the headphone jack out 2mm, but the music sounds much duller from both sides (I am not using any kind of case which prevents me from putting the headphones fully into the jack)
    Or
Squeeze the ipod just below the bottom right corner of the screen.
Either of these 'solutions' didn't seem acceptable to me, so i can onto this forum to see what people have done. I then ordered apple online service for me to return the iPod. I put in the online notes about my problems with the iPod thinking that I would get a new one (like the previous similar problems).
I get my original iPod returned a few days later with some A4 sheets saying that there was 'No trouble found on iPod' and the diagnostic tests all went ok.
So... where does this leave me now? Do i send the iPod back, only for them to send it back to me unrepaired?
What can i say to apple to get them to look at my ipod a little more thoroughly??
    Thanks in advance
30gig Black iPod Video   Windows XP

    hey,
    much happier now!
managed to 'fix' my ipod myself! instead of holding the ipod together just below the screen, i squeezed a bit harder than i should have and the sound now comes out of both sides!
Who needs Apple support when brute force will fix anything!
if you're willing to do it, than i'd try squeezing the ipod front and back sides between the screen and 2 o'clock on the wheel.
    hope that helps

  • Faulty sound from one speaker due to jack plug on unit

    Hi
I realize that my system is prehistoric (Cambridge Desk Top Theatre 5.1 DTT2200) but it works fine EXCEPT for one problem - the centre speaker doesn't have any sound
I have checked the integrity of both the speaker itself and the cable by swapping around so it must be down to the jack plug on the back of the unit
    Any suggestions?
Would it be worth taking the bass unit apart and seeing if there is a loose connection or something? Or would I risk destroying the unit completely?!
Although the system is old, I imagine that the problem would be relevant to later systems too
    Many thanks
    bobbycow

You probably already checked in system preferences (lightswitch with apple on it) that on the output tab under sound the balance is set to the middle? I've seen where this has, for no apparent reason, moved to one extreme. If that's not the issue, you can try resetting the PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

  • Sound works from one headphone only

    Dear all,
I can hear sound from one headphone only.
I can confirm I have tried with three different headsets including the one provided by Sony.
I can also confirm the problem happens with all applications (Spotify, Walkman, SoundCloud) including the provided sounds and ringtones.
Also, the phone has not come in contact with water yet and it hasn't been dropped either (it's two weeks old).
Last time it worked, was last night when I connected it to my home stereo using a normal stereo minijack. It has stopped working since then.
I have restarted it a number of times and the problem persists.
    Can you please advise?
    Many thanks in advance
