Sound on the 4s as Opposed to the 4

Is anyone noticing a HUGE volume diff. in the 4s, as opposed to the 4? When I had my 4, I would place her on speaker and she was SO LOUD, crisp and clear...Everyone could hear me just fine and boy could I hear them....Than stupid me takes her back, because the 4s came out a week later...Anywho...when the speaker is on, I can BARELY hear the person on the other end and when speaking on speaker, they can sometimes hardly hear me. They have pointed out the diff. to me, as all my callers knew I upgraded....Is anyone else noticing the volume diff. or is it me?

Hi all. Hope someone can help with this infuriating issue that I didn't have until updating. If a friend texts me while I'm texting them, I don't get an alert sound and the message stays outside waiting for me to send and finish. When I send, my friends message comes in but ive probably gone to home position and missed it. waiting for replies till all hours.

I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.

When an event occurs (button click actually) I would like to stop playing the first sound and playing another sound in the same object. So I try doing this:
smallSound.load(new URLRequest("secondtrack.mp3"));
channel=smallSound.play(0,1,trans1);
but it does not work. The first sound keeps playing. I havent understood something probably.. Can someone help me ??

ok, i solved my problem. It works like:
channel.stop();
smallSound = new Sound;
smallSound.load(new URLRequest("secondtrack.mp3"));
channel = new SoundChannel;
channel=smallSound.play(0,1,trans1);

I've connected my ipad to my TV via hdmi but cannot get sound. Is there a way to get sound from the TV?

I'd like to get sound from the tv for my keynote presentations. Is there a way to do this via the hdmi connection? Or do I need to connect an 'audio-out? Thanks in advance for your help

make sure your ipad is not muted
make sure you volume is not all the way down
make sure audio play out of the ipad when not connected to the hdmi adapter
if you did and it don't work then it's likely an issue with the connetor
or the tv or it's settings

I recently purchased HDMI cable and adaptor, so that I can play downloads from my Macbook Air on my TV. There is only sound from the Macbook, not the TV - Do I need as separate cable for sound?

I've got the same issue: when I connect my Macbook Air (2011) to TV via HDMI cable there's no sound through the TV system, only from the Macbook Air. I used to use my older Macbook Pro with the same HDMI adapter and it worked just fine, but not with the Macbook Air it doesn't.
My software is up to date. I tried to select the TV as an output option in sound preferences, but it doesn't yield any results.
Rebooding multiple times doesn't help either.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?

You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.

How can I use the sounds of the Yamaha Motif XF6 in Logic Pro 9?

I have Logic Pro 9 on my Mac Book. I also have a Yamaha Motif XF 6 synthesizer. Instead of using Logic's software instruments I would like to record the sounds of the Motif directly into Logic.
I have been told that an audio interface is necessary for this. What kind of audio interface would be good for this? Any in particular?
And, once I have obtained the interface, what steps do I need to take to hook up the Motif into Logic to utilize the Motif's sound bank?
Detailed steps would help, as this is new stuff for me.

Since this is a user forum only, and your questions will take a lot of time to answer you might want to check both the Logic manual and the XF6 manual. The XF6 has possibilities such that you may not need and Audio interface if the Firewire option is present.
Also you have a built in USB MIDI interface as well, you will need to download the Yamaha MIDI driver.
Read Exploring Logic Pro, especially chapter five, you can record your performance via MIDI, edit it and then commit to audio.
Dig in.

I cannot link my new MacMini with my TV's sound system. It's a Pioneer screen & receiver with an independent Pioneer Amp. The Mac Mini does not pick up the sound through the hdmi cable, so how do I get sound going through the MacMini so I can appreciate the music and films I want to hear. The Mac Mini is going to be used for an Internet connection on the Pioneer Plasma/receiver so I can also play stored films from a seperate hard drive. for my MacBook Air problem adding music intensifier (Panasonic ST-HT1000) to give it an unpleasant sound background that sounds like a whiz, it's not so loud, but it is an unpleasant .. after a short time can get used to, but the fizz does not pass, however, believe that it is a big problem.
Further I notice that when MacBookAir disconnected from the charger, it remains quieter sound.

There is no way to bring that up unless you have it typed in a document. You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.

OSS doesn't play more than 1 sound at the same time [SOLVED]

I use OSS to replace ALSA, it used to work properly here. Today I noticed that I can't play more than one sound at the same time, something which I used to be able to do.
Also, ossxmix doesn't operate properly (I can't control the volume of a specific program).
Looks like a permissions issue, because /dev/dsp and /dev/oss are created as root and other users get Permission Denied.
Any ideas how to fix it? My sound card is an AC'97 onboard.

EDIT: Solved by pacman -R oss, rm -rf /usr/lib/oss then pacman -S oss. Seems to have worked.

Have you tried resetting the iPod yet to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If that doesn't work, a restore of the iPod via iTunes may be in order.
