Sound out of one earphone

I have the latest nano,but when the battery shows red or low battery the sound only comes out of one earphone (left side),is this normal or do i have a problem.

I recommend resetting your iPod nano, and/or resetting to factory settings, and re syncing your content over.

Unbalanced or no sound out of one earphone

I'm getting some problems with the sound whenever I plug the earphones in. For example, sound would only play out of my right ear bud and not the left, and sometimes both would work but on one side is slightly lower than the other (as if it was not centered to play on the same level out of both ear buds).
I've tried it with numerous earphones and all have the same problem.
Any solutions to this?

I too found this problem, but found that it only happened with an in-the-ear style of earphone.
If you push the in-the-ear phones into your ear too much, sometimes the rubber pad is pushed back (I've noticed it once or twice) and the earpiece goes too deeply into your ear. What happened in my case is that the metal gauze bit (where the sound comes out) must have got some ear wax in it (and yes, I do clean my ears regularly!). If you take off the rubber pad and clean the gauze with a damp tissue it should get rid of the wax. After doing this I now find the volume in each ear is the same.

Splitter to get both speaker & headphones-sound only out of one earphone MSI K8N Neo4 SB L

I've read the threads on this subject, but am unable to get simultaneous sound through use of a stereo splitter from line out of the computer. With the speaker unplugged from the splitter, headphones work okay with sound from both sides. When I plug in the speaker to the other side of the splitter, the speakers play, but I only get sound out of one side of the headphones.
I have a volume control on both the speakers and the headphones, so I'd like to be able to switch back & forth using the volume controls. I have a headphone jack on the speaker volume control and on each speaker, but it's kind of awkward to keep plugging and unplugger plus I'd have to get an extension cable to plug in the microphone part of the headset..
This arrangement does work on the Pentium 400, so I get the feeling Soundblaster Li've integrated on my MSI mobo has circuitry to not allow this. I tried the EAX surroundsound setting checked, but that didn't work. Anyone figure out how to do this?

The splitter I used was the one I used on my Pentium 400 which allowed both speakers and headphones to work. I also checked it with an ohmeter, and both double contacts work. My splitter female ends are colored one red and one black, but each seems to be full stereo. I have another similar splitter with both ends black, but it behaves the same way
I'll try writing Creative tech support, but I think there's something in the sb circuitry to not allow splitting of the signal.

When i have my headphones plugged in i only get sound out of one side

There could be 2 possibilities: the earphone cable to not completely seated, or the earphone connector is defective.

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. You are doing a disservice by not contributing positively and by trying to make this forum what you want it to be. You may have all the time in the world to try figuring out stuff but we are not all like you. We all have different schedules and different levels of understanding. Sound out of one earbud? Help!!

I have a 5th gen ipod and I'm only getting sound out of one earbud. I've tried five different buds and still the same result. Any ideas?

Well it sounds like you have a dirty jack as was said before in a previous answer or one of the connectors in the jack is bent/broken.
If the alcohol and q-tip works then its all great but if not it could get a little more tricky. I had the same problem and when i held the earbud plug a certain way it would work. I know electronics pretty well so i opened the ipod and bent the contact back into place. IT also might mean the jack needs to be re-soldered. Headphones only provide sound out of one ear phone

Hi, I've got a 17" flat panel iMac running 10.4.2. I recently purchased a pair of good (Grado SR80) headphones for general use. When I plug them in to the Mac's headphone port, I get sound out of one ear phone only. Nothing out of the other. The supplied Apple speakers work fine, however, with sound from both speakers. Any idea how I can get the phones to play normally? I'm really disappointed. The headphone port couldn't possibly be monoaural could it? Or so underpowered it won't power a pair of phones?

I only have one pair! The speakers work perfectly on my small JVC mini stereo set (which only has 10W of power). The speakers are plugged into the little speaker port on the iMac (I think the Apple iMac speaker jack is non-standard). The headphones were plugged into the headphone jack. I checked the Audio control panel. The settings are fine.

Why is my voice only coming out of one earphone?

I have my Input Source set to stereo, but I can only hear my voice out of one earphone. My backing track is coming out of both, though. What's going on? I'm using a condenser mic and a PreSonus FireBox, if that makes any difference. Please help!

Ah~ That has happened to me before. I found the problem to be that the little grey knob (sorry, I don't know technical terms) to be set in one particular direction. ie. L -6 It should be able to be set back by putting it at zero (+0) right in between. Hope this helps.

Sound out of one speaker only

Sound has started to come out of one speaker only. i've checked cords to amplifier etc etc and that is not the issue,. Anyone else had this problem?

Please try connecting a pair of stereo headphones to the audio port of your AirPort Express Base Station (AX). If you now get sound from both channels, the problem may still be either with the cables or the amplifier. If; however, you are still only getting sound from one channel, either the AX's audio port or its audio circuitry may have failed.

For some reason I can't get any sound out of premier pro. I haven't used it many times before but I'm sure I ahd audio when I did.
I switched from doing compositing in After Effects to PPro because AE was chooking on a simple luma track matte using one video to matte/key another... so I find myself in PPro.
Is there anything simple I could be missing which would explain why I'm not getting audio out of my Built-in speakers from Premier? iTunes kicking out the jams no probs.\ as was AE
Strangly every time I start SoundFlowerBed it quits as soon as I leave it. Normally keeps a little flower icon in the menu bar (OS X) to access it and route it's audio bus (SoundFlower itself is a low-letency audio routing system extension) to various outputs.
With SoundFlowerBed I can access OS X Audio Setup (as opposed to Sound Control panel)

I found an uninstaller in Utilities and it has a cross thru it indicating not OS compatible. I dounble clicked and tells me it's a PPC app that can't be run (since I'm on 10.7.5 no rosetta for PPC). I'm not certain that relates to the actual SoundFlower that is running, it may just be a relic of auto-migration from a PPC MacPro.
Are you taking guess Jim or do you know there are issues b/w the two softwares?

No sound out of one speaker...

Hello, all! My iPod recently suffered a nasty blow, which deformed the case and seemingly knocked the sound out of the right earbud. I've tried a different pair of headphones, but still I get nothing out of the right earpiece. I also tried resetting the iPod (toggling the Hold switch, holding the Menu and Play buttons), but that didn't do anything either. Do you think it's a problem with the internals, or do I just need to restore this thing? Is there a way to toggle between mono sound and stereo sound (maybe it was jarred into mono mode)? If it's a problem with the actual iPod, will Apple even fix it for me? I'm having one helluva time initiating service through this website -- should I call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and talk to someone directly? Thanks in advance!

I just bought a pair of refurbished 1st gen. shuffles from Apple in Nov. After a couple of weeks, one of the stopped plaing music through one side of the earphones. I thought I blew the earphone, so I grab another pair, same thing. Same thing with the 3rd pair.
So, for some reason, my shuffle is only playing audio via one earphone. Any ideas for a fix? No chance at a warrenty fix (I think).

Only getting sound out of one spea

Okay, so a while ago my speakers crapped out on me and I could only get sound when I used headphones, which was something I tolerated for some time. But now, just recently (after I got a high-speed internet connection, actually), I can only get sound out of the left headphone. Can anyone give me some assistance here? According to the device manager, I have a Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V...so I'm not sure if I have a Sound Blaster AudioPCI or a Sound Blaster PCI64. Anyway, I tried installing the drivers for the latter, but it didn't help anything. What's the deal, anyone? Does it sound like a sound card issue, or is it perhaps my speakers?

Did this soundcard come preinstalled in your computer? If so you will need to contact your computer manufacturer for support as the card may be OEM. OEM components are often modified from their retail standards and require special drivers that only the Vendor will have access to.

Can only hear sound out of one ear in iPod 30gb

My nephew can only hear sound from one ear of his headphones.
1) he's not becoming deaf and we've tried multiple pairs of headphones that give the SAME result.
2) the volume settings are correct, so its not that.
What are the options here? Is there a known fix? If its a hardware issue, can Apple do anything (free under warranty or repair with charge)?
