Sound out only left side.

I only get sound out of the left side of my headphones. I have all ready made sure the headphones are not broken (tested in another iPod Classic). I am fairly certain my iPod requires service, but figured I would check first. Also if someone could point me where I can go about setting up sending my iPod in it would be appreciated.

Hey there,
The problem could just be a bad contact, but sadly there really isn't anything you can do to resolve the problem.
If your iPod is still covered by its warranty consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod at http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
Otherwise, if no warranty, there are numerous 3rd party businesses that will dianose the exact problem with the iPod and repair it. Just do a simple google search for "ipod repair parts" and you should recieve a plethora of sites that can help you. I would recommend doing a bit of looking around before choosing one.
Here are a few good ones.

Do I have to take it in for repair??

  • My 13" macbook just stopped working. When you turn it on you get a white screen and hear a repetitive clicking sound on the left side. Is this the hard drive? Any suggestions on replacement drives?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • Late2012, RMBP. Only left side of earphone works.

When I plug in my earphone (iphone 5 earphone), only left side works, and Im sure this is a good earphone.
I used to adjust the banlance, and sometimes this works that both sides will work after my manual adjustment. However, now, this way wont fix the problem.
    What's the problem here?

    1. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    2. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    3. Close all windows and quit all applications.
Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
        Open "Audio" folder.
Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".
        com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist
        com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Close the window. Restart the computer.

  • Audio only coming out of left side of headphones

Hey all, I got my Ipod Video 8 months ago. Everything was perfect until recently. One day, I turned on my Ipod and sound was only coming out of the left side of the headphones. I thought it was the headphones, so I tried the headphones on a computer. And it was fine on the computer. I tried 3 different sets of headphones on my Ipod and still the same problem, the sound only comes out of the left side. If I move the jack around, sometimes sound will come out of the right side, but only briefly. Any suggestions on what I can do?

  • When i have my headphones plugged in i only get sound out of one side

when I have my headphones plugged in - I can hear out of both earbuds when on a telephone call, but when I switch to music I only get sound out of one ear

There could be 2 possibilities: the earphone cable to not completely seated, or the earphone connector is defective.

    Good day, arsaboss.
We understand where you're coming from. How's the phone doing? Did something happen to your phone that possibly cause such behavior? Any fixes you've tried like press and holding both the volume down & the power keys for 10 seconds or a reset under Settings> about> reset your phone?
When was the last time you updated your phone's software? Can you confirm that you have the latest one by checking if 'Lumia Cyan' is shown under Settings> extras+info? How about your system apps? See: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082. By the way, where are you located?

  • Right side of track pad not working, only left side is working

the right side of the track pad on my MacBook Pro is not working, only the left side.

If this computer has a removable battery, take it out and see if the battery is swelling. If that is the case, try running the computer without the battery on just the charger, to check if the swelling is the cause.
If the computer does not have a removable battey, the best you can do is examine the underside for signs of a swelling battery.

  • No sound out of left on speakers

There is no sound out of the left on speakers on my iPhone 4s.
    I didn't upgrade to IOs 6. It's still IOs 5.1.1
When using earbud it works L & R.
I made sure Mono Audio is Off and the slider is centered betweel L & R.
Maybe a problem on left speaker?

You mean the two bottom speakers - the one at left is a microphone, the other at right is the speaker?
I didn't know about that. I thought both were speakers.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Only left side audio

Am only receiving left channel on sound playback, both headphones and internal speaker on G71-340US

Have you check for sound level on left channel....
To do that click start, in the search box type Sound. Once is show up in the search result, click on it.
Click on the default Audio Device and click properties
Now with the Speakers Properties window open, click on  Levels tab and  click Balance. Now check for the volume level on the Left Channel...

  • Convert stereo to mono, but with only left side

I have some mp3 files that are stereo, but I only want to hear the left. I know I can change the balance through System Preferences, but I want the left side to be coming through both speakers. Also I assume I could do this with Garageband, but there are a lot of files, and I'd rather not do that for all of them.
    Thanks!

You don't want to hear the right channel at all or you want to combine both channels and listen to it with your left ear only?
You can convert the files to mono using iTunes.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Importing.
Click the drop down next to Setting and set it to Mono.
Now select the files you want to convert, then menu Advanced -> *Convert selection to...*
This will make a new copy of the selected files in Mono.
The original files will remain unchanged in iTunes.

  • Audio plays out of left side only

I had this same problem with the 4th Gen Nano, which is why I received this one. But, I've only had this iPod for a few months at the most, and I do not have a warranty on it anymore. I have tried multiple sets of headphones, so I know it is a problem with the device itself. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy a whole new iPod?

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.
Hardware warranty is for _*one year from the date of purchase.*_
_If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for *two years* from the original purchase date of your iPod._
In view of the above, you should take your iPod & earphones to an Apple Store or an AASP. Let the staff inform you if you are having hardware issues.
