Sound output plugin for iTunes?

My three year old Airport Express with Airtunes is broke. It' smells burned when I smell by the ethernet port. So, no more iTunes output to my HiFi system with the Airport Express
Now my HiFi system is connected via the Line-out sound output. The system sounds and for example Youtube movies now also playing into HiFi.
I want to know if there is an plugin for iTunes to redirect sound to an different sound port on my Mac Pro. System sounds to headphones or internal speakers and iTunes to Line-out (HiFi). Is this possible? With system prefs (10.5.1) you only can choose one output for all sound.
Is there an plugin for iTunes to redirect sound output?

I have tried Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil but this program is meant to redirect all kind off sounds to one or more AirPort Express.
I don't have an AirPort Express anymore so I want to redirect sounds from iTunes to line-out and I want system sounds to internal speakers or headphones.

  • OSS 3D Plugin for iTunes questions...

    Hey everybody.
I have a few quick questions and I could not find many posts about this so I hope this isn't a faq...
Does anyone know if there is a website, etc where one could go to find out what exact configuration would be best for a certain audio set-up using the OSS 3D Plugin for iTunes? This program makes your music literally "come to life" - cheesy but true. The difference in sound from turning it on and off is HUGE. I am not sure about how to configure all of the settings with this thing though. There are SO many different things to tweak. I simply do not have the time or patience to sit through and tweak each thing manually and then test it to see if it sounds good. I would hope there is some information out there that would allow me to have an optimal sound right away.
    Here's my audio set-up:
I have a 5.1 dvd surround in my room which I have hooked up to my G5 with an optical audio cable...It sounds good but I know with the right configurations it would sound even better.
    Any suggetions would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Andrew

Yes. I got the registration code. Here is the developer's email: [email protected] They haven't responded to my email about OSS 3D breaking iTunes 7, though.

  • Audio Plugin for iTunes????

Since Volume Logic doesn't work anymore, and they don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it, does anybody know of any other good audio plugins for iTunes on Windows, please.
    Help much appreciated

Perhaps SRS iWOW would be worth looking at.
Thanks so much for the help! I trialed the software and bought it after the third song! I'm very happy with it so far. Thanks again for the suggestion!

  • Do you know any plugin for iTunes that permits to read the epub books of the library?

    Hello to everybody!
Do you know any plugin for iTunes that permits to read the epub books of the library? Or do you know if this function is gonn be implemented in iTunes?
It's not so extrange, because iTunes is able to play the music, videos and films that we have in the library, why not reading them with iTunes?
Of course it wouldn't be so comfortable as to read them in my iPad, but it's not its purpose: it's only so you can take a sneak peek into several books in order to choose which one to send to the iPad to read next Weekend.
    Is this posible?
    Best regards,
    Jorge Molina

I don't know of any plug in that enables you to use itunes as a reader but you can use calibre which is shareware and that has a reader that would enable you to read on your computer by opening an ebook with the application.
Alternatively, and perhaps simpler, is to go to amazon and read reviews and synopses of books you are interested in.

  • IM Status plugins for iTunes

Does Anybody know a good plugin where you can show what song is playing in iTunes to Yahoo! Messenger for windows?
So far I've tried the latest version of HyperIM (the only thing I know that can do it) didn't work too well.
It worked with iTunes + Windows XP + yahoo messenger,
but it doesn't work for iTunes + Windows Vista + yahoo messenger.
Just asking, a positive response would be nice, if there's no solution yet it's okay.

  • Automatically choose an output device for itunes?

I have several audio input and output devices, for example, a speaker phone for skype, speakers with sub woofer for itunes. Is there a way to make an Output device automatically be choose for a specific app such as itunes? I would never want to listen to itunes over the speaker phone nor skype with the speakers/subwoofer.
I find my self often changing the output device with the ALT speaker icon in the upper right, but this doesn't always end well if you have already started the audio out of the wrong output device.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

  • NO SOUND output (except for start-up chime) on MacBook Pro

I've been looking all over the discussion boards but haven't been able to figure this one out.
Suddenly for no apparent reason I have no sound output. I've checked all the settings, repaired disk permissions, restarted, etc. with no effect. I DO get the start-up chime but then nothing. Also, I do NOT have a red light emitting from my adio out jack. F3, F4 and F5 show the volume icon changing on-screen but with no actual sound output. Switching to a speakers or earphones doesn't change it either.
The only thing I can think of is that my battery has been slowly dying and has just recently started to crap out when the battery life indicator shows more than 50% charge. For this reason the computer has lost power and suddenly shut down once or twice without having been properly shut down. But the loss of sound input did NOT happen directly after this.
    Any suggestions?

    I Finally figured it out...
For some reason, my audio setting got changed in my audio prefs:
    System settings --> Audio
On the "Sound Effects" tab, it was set to "Internal Speakers", which explains why I was getting the startup chime, and alert sounds just fine.
However on the "Output" tab, it somehow got changed to "Sunflower" which causes the sound not to work. As soon as I changed it to "Internal Speakers" everything went back to normal.
    Hope that helps!

  • Removal of the FireFox plugin for iTunes Application Detector

    Hi,
My daughter bought an ipod and installed itunes on the family pc. Being a firm believer (and I'm sure this will turn away answers to my question) in not mixing Windows components and Apple components as you will undoubtedly ask for death (I currently have a possible display driver problem now that itunes has been added and my wife and I each personally own a Zune), how do I set the Apple/"i" services to ONLY run when her account is running and how do I remove the FireFox Addon in the plugins bin since Internet Explorer is still on the PC and I don't care if itunes uses it to its hearts content, but I do care that it is added to FireFox. Using XP MCE 2005 SP3 and itunes 10 is on the PC. If none of you know the answer, is there an easier way of contacting technical support? The support page certainly leave something to be desired.

Firefox uses the npitunes.dll file for the itunes application detector. On an XP system (assuming you've got your program files installed on your C), you'll find that at:
    C:\Program files\iTunes\Mozilla Plugins\npitunes.dll
I can't remember if removing that file will trigger a repair install of iTunes the next time you launch iTunes using one of the advertised shortcuts automatically installed by iTunes. If it does, and replaces the file, create a new (non-advertised) desktop shortcut for iTunes and always launch the application from that shortcut you created yourself in order to stop the repair install from putting the npitunes.dll back.

  • Changing output format for iTunes conversions

WHen I convert my WMA files, iTunes converts them as quicktime files. When I play music through my laptop I prefer to us Windows Media Player though, not quicktime.
Does anyone know if I can change the output format in iTunes to change them from WMA to MP3 instead of quicktime?
    thankyou

When you import a wma file into iTunes, it makes a copy of the file converting it to either MP3 or AAC according to how you have set your preferences in Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced>>Importing.
You want the drop down box labelled "Import Using".
The actual program used to play the file depends on how you have your file associations set. You can change this by right clicking on a file and selecting "Open with" >>Choose Program. You select the program you want to use (assuming it knows how to play the file) and also ensure the "Always use selected program..." check box is ticked.
The original wma file is left intact, so unless you delete it, it will be available to use in WMP. If you don't want to do that, and you want to use WMP as your player, you need to import into iTunes as MP3 rather than AAC.

  • Mini-HDMI Port: Video OK, sound only works for iTunes

Let me start by saying, I'm pretty new to Mac so please be gentle with your answers...
I just got a new HD Samsung TV and have connected it to my Macbook Pro through the Mini-HDMI port. There are two HDMI inputs on my TV, DVI and ARC. I'm using DVI. The video displays perfectly but I'm having a little trouble with sound.
Once I went to system preferences and switched the audio output method to "SAMSUNG - HDMI" my iTunes music began playing through the TV speakers. I played a .wmv video from my hard drive; sound and audio all worked well. However, when I attempt to play anything through the Internet, Youtube, Hulu, Pandora, no sound... I still get video, and if I switch the Output source back to "Internal Speakers - Built-In" there's no problem. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm using Google Chrome as my Internet Browser.
I've double/triple checked the sites to make sure the local audio levels aren't being muted, and that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a setting somewhere that references only Internet, or more specifically, Google Chrome audio Output levels?
    PLEASE HELP...
    Thanks

The "Front" channel isn't the same thing as the front panel. From the ALSA wiki:
"Front, Surround, Center, LFE (subwoofer) and Side (these are the names of the channels with Intel HD Audio, they may vary with different hardware)."
How many sounds cards do you have?
    [dspider@arch ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
    [dspider@arch ~]$
What are the other HDMI devices? The video card?
And have you tried googling the problem?

  • Plugin for itunes

for some reason i cant log on to my itunes account .i had no problem in tell i purchased a mini series ,after i got my confirmation # i went to burn my shows and i got the message ituns need to close, this was two weeks ago
i get the message plugin did not initialize.

It would probably be better to use a utility like Max to convert your FLAC files to Apple Lossless, but if you really want to keep your FLAC tracks as they are, you might try Fluke. There are instructions here:
    http://www.simplehelp.net/2008/06/12/how-to-play-flac-files-in-itunes/
though not using FLAC I haven't tested them.
    Hope this helps.

  • EQ and other plugins for iTunes playback?

I'm wondering if it's possible to use Audio Units plugins (or any of the plugins bundled with Logic Studio) with iTunes. The built-in eq isn't particularly useful for my purposes.

I would like to know how to do this as well. I just recently purchased IK multimedia ARC room correction system and it works great! However, it only works as a plugin. This is fine for my mixing use, but I listen to most of my music through itunes!
I've heard of other ARC owners using a program called "audio hijack" to do this, but was curious of there are other hopefully free options out there. I'm downloading the audio hijack demo now, will post back the results: http://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/

  • Visualization Plugins for iTunes for Windows

I've tested a freeware iTunes visualization plugin called "Cover Version" from
    http://itunes.pluginsworld.com/plugins/apple/632/imagomat/cover-version.html
and found that it comes close to meeting my needs. I'm wondering if anyone knows about support for this or if there are other plugins that do a better job of creating the visualization of album art, lyrics, artist, and track when a song plays? Or if anyone is handy in building new plugins? I am willing to fund new development.

The developer for that particular plugin has a sourceforge project called vizkit. Go to the sourceforge page and request support:

  • Sound is gone for iTune videos that convert to iPod

I have a problem. I load movies into iTunes, and they work. But as soon as I convert them for iPod, the sound is gone. It's not just one file, its all of them. Something must be wrong with iTunes cause I know more than that should work.

    Parkram412,
You can always contact tech support: http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Do any videos play correctly in iTunes? If there is a problem with iTunes playing all videos this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303706 may help
Videos that did not come from the iTunes store are going to be harder to troubleshoot because there are many ways the video's could have been created. Another article that has good information on video conversion for the iPod is: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302892
