Sound output quality is poor when playing wavefile

We have a "Lynx two-c" sound card and are having a few issues. Firstly, the sound quality is substandard, with an obvious "hiss" that occurs when played through LabVIEW. When the same file is played through Adobe Audition, there is no hiss. I have tried:
1) "Play sound file.vi"
2) The chain of "SND Read Wave File.vi", "SO Config.vi", "SO Volume", "SO Write", "SO Start", "SO Wait", "SO Clear"
3) "Play Waveform" Express VI
The hiss is obvious with each of these three methods.
The second problem that I have is that if I attempt to play a wavefile with method 1 or method 3 - the first time using the method does not produce an output. If I then use a different method, sound will be produced using either of the three methods as long a LabVIEW remains open. When I restart LabVIEW, I must sequentially use one method and then a second before I can get any output.
I am unsure if the two issues are related and I have a workaround for the second issue, but I must find a fix for the first issue. I greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

No sound thru built in earpiece when playing VM?

I have a brand new 3g iphone, just picked it up today and set-up the visual vm about and hour ago. As stated in the title, I have no sound thru built in earpiece when playing VM, but if I select speaker phone or use the stereo earbuds, the sound is there.
The built in earpiece seems to work fine in all other instances?
Any suggestions appreciated.

There might be debris in the headphone jack, try inserting and removing the headphones a few times.

I have just added new CD (Rod Stewart Unplugged) to iTunes. It sounds awful - crackly and distorted - when played back thorugh my laptop and on iPod Classic. The CD sounds great on my CD player. (Other CD record fine onto iTunes). How can i fix this?

Good quality quicktime movie looks poor when played thru Final Cut timeline

I created a quicktime file with moving text in After Effects 6.5..when i play the movie file it looks fine..no aliasing or jagged edges on the text...
when I import the .mov file into finalcut (4.5HD) and immediately launch & play it in the viewer, it also looks fine...
but when i place the .mov file onto the timeline and play it from there, or when i relaunch that .mov file from the timeline into the viewer, the quality of the text looks degraded...
...so i'm thinking it's a setting issue...i don't think it's an AE issue because I was able to get a good quality image into the viewer in Final Cut...I'm using the DV NTSC 48khz standard settings...720 x 480...could it be the 'millions of colors' or the 'YUV video processing' settings selected in the sequence settings?

Whoa there! You shouldn't waste time burning a DVD to check the quality of your renders. In fact, you should be working with the video monitor (or TV) hooked up to your DV Deck or DV Camcorder as you work. That way, you can always be aprised of your quality. This is the way the manual says you should be set up at all times. However, you are cutting in a space that does not have room for a small video monitor? Wow, must be a closet or something.
If a video monitor is not convenient, then you can see an aproximation of the quality you'd see in a video monitor if you do the following: Zoom out your Canvas to precisely 100% and Uncheck Sq. Pixels in the Zoom pop up. You may need to resize the Canvas to see the whole image and if you are working with a small computer screen.

Image quality seems poor when exporting to ePub (even on max)

I've been using InDesign to prep a book for export to ePub format, and it will include several images. Things are going fairly well now that I finally think I've got my mind around the way InDesign works and how to think/prep in advance (i.e. get the Masters right and think 'styles' for as much as possible).
But, when I get things exported to ePub format, I've noticed that the images seem to loose resolution even when I choose jpeg at the maximum setting. Where it's most obvious is when there is text in parts of an image (like text on a map), and at smaller fonts the text becomes blurry and unreadable. The image is pristine and sharp in Photoshop, and is very clear in InDesign doing the layout, and even if I simply save it as a jpeg in Photoshop it stays sharp and things are clear and ledgible. But...
...From InDesign...exported to ePub format using the maximum settings...it ends up soft, or a bit fuzzy, to the extent that whether viewing in Digital Editions or ePubReader in Firefox, the smaller text is virtually unreadable.
Anyone have any ideas why this happens? I could consider making the initial image some much-larger size and hope that when it shrinks to fit the reader window maybe it will still be clear. But I've read that 'best practice' is to keep the image between 300 and 600 pixels in width, so I've made sure it was a bit less that 600. Regardless, it just isn't good enough as it is now.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. About 4 out of every ten images are exported at half the resolution of the rest -- looking at the images in Photoshop each apparent "pixel" is actually 2 x 2 pixels across.
This occurs both at "high" and "maximum" settings, the images are still borked and the only difference is the resultant file size.
I've read the PDF referred to in the reply but it says nothing about this.
My guess is that this is a bug triggered by certain dimensional inputs to the exporter (a la the Photoshop bug where rotating pixels 90° causes artifacts when the area involved is an even number of pixels by an odd number of pixels -- see http://bjango.com/articles/photoshopcs6wishlist/ ).

Why is quality of photo poor when viewing in the organizer?

When i am viewing photos in the photoshop elementss 10 organizer the quality is poor when I am viewing one photo at the largest size yet it says it is high quality and in focus. Is this normal? Thank you.

SoundBlaster Audigy Value: Delay and echoing of sound output from head

I'm having problems with the sound output of my voice when chatting using a headset.. I can hear echoes and there are delays occasionally. I first thought the problem was with the headset, and so I changed it. However, the problem persists!
When I plugged my headset in my laptop instead of the desktop with the Audigy Value installed, I didn't encounter any problems at all with the sound. So I thought the problem is with the Audigy Value souncard.
What could be causing these problems?

You need set the ASIO latency through CT ASIO panel and not through Audition settings. ASIO Panel has only settings as milliseconds so if you select 10 or lower value your delay problems should be fixed.

Output quality poor compared to origional AVCHD?

Hi Everyone,
I've imported and edited video from my Sony HDR-SR7 camcorder (set to max quality), set the output format to MPEG-4, full HD 1920x1080, 16000 kbs, when played back through my PS3 however the video looks poor in comparision to the origional played directly from my camera through the PS3.
By poor, the frames seem slightly jerky and the overall picture seems not as bright and clear plus some graininess is shown?
Am I doing something wrong with my importing / exporting?
The reason for editing is the PS3 will not play the videos consecutively from its hard drive and to add titles etc.

In the pse 11 editor are you looking at the image at 100% view (actual pixels)?
(Other viewing percents can be misleading in the pse 11 editor)
Double click on the zoom tool in the tol box to get 100% view.
Also you should be on camera raw 7.4 available from Help>Updates within the pse 11 editor.
Is that lightroom 4.4?

IPod Touch 5th Gen sound really low when playing movies/tv shows from video app

I just bought a ipod touch 5th generation for my daughter so she can watch her movies and tv shows that i purchased on itunes. On my iPhone 5S, I have no problems with the sound... Loud and clear. However with my new ipod touch, those same movies/tv shoes have really low volume. The sound while using Apps, Games and playing music are all fine. While playing from the video app, headphones are ok too... My problem is the sound from the speaker. I don't understand why all the other functions on the ipod that use sound is OK.
I have already reset my ipod and reset all the settings too... still didnt work. Please help! Thanks

The speaker is not that good but maybe yours is defective if you have the volume fully raised.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted and have a poor contact.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R" or "R".
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

When playing any audio the audio quality on my Thunderbolt display steadily worsens over an hour period and becomes garbled. Restarting the media player fixes it. Does not occur when MacBook Pro is undocked.

When playing audio/video on my MacBook Pro docked to Thunderbolt display the audio quality steadily worsens until it is garbled beyond understanding. I don't know if it occurs when using the MacBook undocked. It takes about an hour to become noticeable and steadily worsens. Simultaneously when the computer speaks the time this is also gargled. As the problem develops it sounds like there is a static halo around each spoken word.

2 Apple TV's and no sound output when using AirPlay/mirroring?

Bought my first apple tv and when air mirroring was able to go to my system preferences and choose sound output for it and it worked beautifully when I wanted to play a movie on my computer and send it to the TV. Bought a second apple tv for the bedroom, both are connected over wifi. Using Mountain Lion on my iMac. Now it won't play any sound on either and will not let me choose which apple tv in system preferences - sound. Any help would be appreciated

I have tried turning Apple TV on first, then choosing sound output before turning on air mirroring. Problem is it won't let me choose, stays on internal speakers.
This fix won't work for me.

Poor Output Quality DVD vs. Mpeg

I recently scanned some slides at 360 dpi to a 4 by 6 size when I place them in the timeline they looked perfect. When I burned a DVD the quality was off a little bit especially at 1080p. When I exported as a computer file " MPEG HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality " and played it on the TV it was perfect...any suggestions why the DVD output quality was a little off (faces appears to be mottled and lines are pixelated).
I've tried different project settings and the results are the same except anything that's interlaced seems worse, more pixelated.
The Properties for most of the slides are as follows
Type:Jpeg
File size: 1.8mb ( and higher )
image size: 2159 x1439
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

Could you please clarify your question and its details because I am reading your details as 1080p formats as AVCHD DVD versus HD MPEG2.mpg file.
I am interpreting your question with no involvement of DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
I think that you have burned some photos in Premiere Elements

Sky Go sound quality is poor

Sky Go sound quality is poor, hollow and reverb like, and happens with 'on demand', 'on now' and I assume also 'downloads'. Sky Go is a great concept and feature, but this sound issue significantly reduces your enjoyment and deters you from using it. Other broadcaster apps work fine for me, When will this Sky one be fixed?

The point of this thread is to highlight the ongoing poor sound quality in Sky Go across all platforms, which many people on here suspect is due to overcompression. Could you confirm you are still having these issues, otherwise i am worried moderators may suspect the issue is fixed, which i can confirm from an episode of Blacklist on the train this morning is certainly not the case. Sound is still tinny, quiet and washed out on any downloaded porgram on iOS. Any news on if a fix for this is going to be in an update any time soon??? Omicron wrote:

It would be more helpful to understand your workflow and what type files you have made.
Are you using audio from both cameras? Do the changes/problems correspond with the camera switch?
Try this with a minute of the problem footage
Export a QT reference file(export QT(not QT conversion)-uncheck make self-contained in the lower left)
(a reference file is like a band-aid- do not use more than once). Listen to it in QT- how does it sound?
If you have a mix/audio problem here it is most likely related to what you are exporting from FC.
If it sounds good:
Create an AC3 and MPG2 of your minute test
Create a DVD with a track of your 1 minute test.
Build the dvd to a folder on your desktop.
Open the Video_TS(from the build folder) in the Mac DVD player App. Whatever you see and hear in the app is exactly what will end up on the burned disc. This is the best way to QC the DVD before you burn it.
