Sound output turning off in iTunes

When using iTunes on my macbook pro and connecting to AV amplifier with miniDVI-HDMI cable, the sound output turns off after some minutes. apron touching the trackpad, the sound turns on again.this does not happen with VLC. any help?

Since asking the question, I have established the following:
The sound output stops when the display goes to sleep. Note that only the display sleep mode affects this, not the computer sleep mode. Also the screen saver does not have any affect.
So, does anyone know how to stop this from happening? It does not make sense to me that iTunes ouput should stop when the display (not the computer) goes to sleep ...

  • How do I tell Apple to fix their software like apps that play sound even though the sound is turned off and not being able to disable features you hate like game center

Apple is suppose to be the pinnacle of usability and, yet, I want to throw my new IPhone 4s as far as I can and watch is smash into a million pieces on concrete. Seriously, I've already got three things that irritate the **** out of me. First, there are Apple apps that insist on playing sound even though the sound is turned off. If I flick a switch to turn the sound off, I want the sound off!!!! Second, if I do not want a totally unnecessary feature like Game Center, I should be able to disable it. I completed most of the Angry Bird levels with 2 or 3 stars and now I have to start over from square one. Maybe, this happened when I upgraded to the 4s but it sure seemed to happen when I joined Game Center. Tomorrow, I am going to reset my 4s to factory defaults to try to get rid of my Game Center account. I don't want Game Center! I do need Game Center! I hate Game Center! Finally, I had an alarm go off to wake me up and there was a Snooze button but no button to turn the alarm off. I flicked the slider to access the main screen expecting to see something to turn the alarm off but there was nothing. The alarm just kept alarming. I had to warm boot my IPhone to shut the alarm off! Really, Apple!!!!

The sound is turned off. Only, some Apple apps like YouTube and Siri make sound when the sound is turned off. It is very embarrassing when this happens at work. My question was how do I tell Apple to fix this?
Turning off game center does not work. The games just prompt me to sign in when they are started.I have tried everything I can find online to stop this behavior. It is annoying and should not happen. My question was how do I tell Apple to fix this?
The alarm went off. There was a green thing that looked like a button but pressing it did nothing. There was a red button that said snooze. I did not want to snooze. I wanted to turn the alarm off. I slid the bar to unlock the phone and there were no running apps with a button to press. The alarm just keep running. I have not had this problem since it first occurred. The alarm now shuts off when I just unlock the phone. It may have happened because I had another alarm app running. The two may have interfered with each other. I would like to tell Apple about it.
It also annoys me that the button that closes apps leaves the phone app running. If I press on a number at 6:00 AM to get information about who called me, the phone automatically dials the person back and my natural reaction is to press on the button to close the phone app but the phone keeps dialing this person at 6:00 AM. It is a bad design. I would like to tell Apple about it.
Finally, I looked all over Apple's site to try to find someplace I could send them a polite message to let them know that I was not happy with these "features" but could not find anything. It is extremely frustrating to have issues with a product and not being able to tell the manufacturer about it. So, you grow up!.
When trying to fix the Game Center issue, I saw a link someone posted to report issues with the IPad to Apple. The answer I am looking for is where is the link to report issues with the IPhone.

  • Turn off the iTunes and App Store links

How do you turn off the iTunes and App Store links? I need to do it show that storeagent will stop using so much of my cpu.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts
Select the "My Account" account, and select Login Items.
    Remove iTunes helper.
When you are done troubleshooting use the Go menu to get iTunes helper back in the startup items to go to folder, and type this as the path to your folder:
    /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources
There you'll find the iTunes Helper, which you can drag and drop back into the Login Items.

  • Sounds Keep Turning Off

I've discovered during the past couple of weeks that my interface sounds (clicks at login, locking sound when pressing the top button, etc.) have been consistently turning off. I can reactivate them by reselecting my ring tone, which forces that sound to play, and that reactivates my Text pings, login clicks, and the like, for a while, but then, sure enough, those interface sounds turn off again. Going into Settings/Sounds and turning off the keyboard clicks and then pressing the slider to reactivate the clicks doesn't work. Only reselecting the default phone ring is enough to reactivate the interface sounds that all show they're supposed to be on.
I've tried graceful shutdowns and hard resets, to no avail.
This is a first generation iPhone with OS 3.0 running and about 2.4GB free storage available.
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Thanks for listening...

My iPhone's been out of its dock (the two port version that came with my Apple Bluetooth Earpiece) all afternoon, and the sound has been fine with all interfaces effects clicking away normally (after I reselected the default ring sound initially).
Because I had noted that others have reported sound issues after using their docks, typically after they inserted it into the dock and got the message that the device wasn't compatible (which it certainly had to be since it was from Apple), and since I had also observed this message popping up lately when I docked my iPhone, I got out my USB cable connector and tried it this time before putting it back into the dock. The USB cable plugged into my iPhone and the charging transformer as expected, the iPhone made the connecting sound, and proceeded to recharge my iPhone correctly. So, I unplugged it, and looked carefully at the dock's connector pins, which appeared to be OK. I gave the pins a hard blow, just in case some dust was causing the issue, and plugged my iPhone back into the dock.
The iPhone made its dock connecting sound, the battery appeared on screen, and the charging symbol appeared in the top right corner, again, all as expected. So, I unplugged it and re-plugged it in several times, trying to see if I was going to get the Incompatible Device message, and tested the interface sounds several times. All seems to be working correctly, at the moment.
So, my hypothesis at the moment is that the problem I've been having over the past couple of weeks is not software related, but potentially hardware related, specifically to the Apple dock connector itself. I can't be sure at this point, but I will be testing this if the Incompatible Device message appears again and I start having the sounds turning off issue again.
For now, I'm marking this question as answered.

  • Hi I just upgraded software through iTunes then unplugged iPhone now it is stuck on the connect to intunes screen, it won't turn off and iTunes and my computer won't recognize my phone? Please help

Hi I just upgraded software through iTunes then unplugged iPhone now it is stuck on the connect to intunes screen, it won't turn off and iTunes and my computer won't recognize my phone? Please help

My phone is doing the same thing. My computer acknowledges that I have connected my iPhone 4, however, iTunes will no longer connect or sync to my iPhone 4. I have uninstalled iTunes, Bonjour and all Apple products from my pc. I have re-installed them back on. I have reset my phone. I have emptied my temp folder. I have done everything. If my iPhone cannot update and sync with iTunes then I may as well get another phone from somewhere else. I am disappointed that I cannot resolve this issue.
Rebeccaspe31, were you able to resolve your issue? If so how?

You'll have to put your phone in DFU mode and restore.  Search this forum to find instructions on placing your phone in DFU

  • Noisy audio +  audio output turns off / on - annoying

The audio out on a MBP (10.5.4) turns off after about 30 seconds, then turns back on when it makes any sound such as an alert sound, playing a song in iTunes / Quicktime, etc...
Case and point: Listen with headphones (or with your ear close to the laptop speaker) and do something that requires audio - e.g. just duplicate a file using Apple+D, you'll hear your alert sound. Then listen for 30 seconds - you will hear a faint hiss (with good headphones), then a click/pop as the audio turns off. WHY?
And this is really annoying: there is also a click/pop sound when you start to play something if the audio has turned off, i.e. the audio output has to turn itself ON again. Plus, in iTunes there is digital distortion and some very faint high-frequency hums.
I have my old PowerBook G4 sitting next to this MBP and it does NOT do this. So it begs the question: Why does Apple have to change things like this? Why change the audio output to turn off after 30 seconds? How is it that iTunes on a MBP creates digital distortion?
There is NO digital distortion within iTunes on the Powerbook G4. (I compared the same exact track from iTunes on the MBP to iTunes on the Powerbook G4.) There is NO digital distortion when playing audio through Quicktime on either laptop.
I don't get it. Apple/Mac should be improving their products. They bought Logic 8 from Emagic! That must mean they are interested in audio, yes? Then WHY cheapen the audio outs?
This is essentially a post to see if there has been any fixes for this problem, or to see if Apple/Mac really care or noticed. I hope it is the former.......

I have a brand new Macbook Pro Unibody 15'', which presents the same issues, but with some peculiarities. I have M-Audio reference speakers, connected with an analog cable minijack to RCA cable (note: they work perfectly when connected to the ext. firewire audio interface..) .
The weird thing is related to whether I have the power cord plugged in or not:
    - with the magsafe power cord plugged in I only hear the intermittent "high pitched noises" described here: http://tech.kateva.org/2007/06/macintouch-review-audio-noise-in-new.html. They are apparently random .
    - when I unplug the power cord I can hear all kind of sounds and noises: I can hear the harddrive spinning and seeking, a "fixed" background hum noise, more noises even when I type or move the mouse or use the trackpad.
UPDATE: When the external audio interface is not plugged in (it's a M-Audio firewire solo) I hear no more noises from the internal audio output ! Must be all related to some grounding issues of the audio interface.

  • Sound check - turning off

a few weeks ago I selected sound check in the preferences menu and itunes spent some time making all the songs in my library the same volume, as it should do. However it has made some songs a bit too quiet, so I turned off the function in the preferences menu again.
    1. Is there are a way of removing the sound check from all of my songs? (right click>Get Info> e.g. "Volume -10.6dB"
    2. Why is it that when I add a new album to the library it says "Determining Song Volume" in the display even though sound check is off?
      Windows XP

Never mind... somehow I moved the iTunes master volume down!!!! Argh!

  • MBP keyboard backlight turns off when itunes changes songs

Anyone else encountered this? I turned off all of my iTunes related plug-ins and add-ons and it still happens. Whenever the song changes or I play/pause iTunes, my backlight goes off. Is this a 'feature'?

That sounds rather odd. I always have Itunes on and it never happened to me, are you sure that it is not some weird coincidence? Is it only happening when you have iTunes on??

  • Match turned off, non-iTunes artists have cloud icon

On my iPhone there are artists with the cloud icon next to their name.

I have not purchased songs by these particular artists from iTunes.
    Why are the clouds there?
(I do have Match enabled on the Mac this iPhone syncs with.)

  • System Sound wont turn off after 1.3.1 update

I turn off the System Sounds to not here when notifications come in when I sleep, but I want to be able to here the phone ring when I call comes in...i dont wont to have to mute the whole phone... Is there a problem ticket or a break fix open on this issue...
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I have the same problem.  I could turn off system sounds at night which would stop the e-mail notifications, but still allow the phone to ring.  After the 1.3.1 update, the systems sound slider has no effect.  The only way I can mute system sounds is to turn the ringer switch off which mutes the phone completely.  I contacted Sprint and they have no clue.  And, of course Palm only works during weekdays and normal working hours.  Palm really needs to test updates completely before releasing them.  I note others are reporting similar sound problems under different headings.

If you are having trouble keeping your fan from operating quietly, I recommend smcFanControl: http://www.eidac.de/
This is a program that runs in the menu bar, where you can manually regulate the power and temperature of your computer. I have had some problems where if I have it on low and I am using it on a bed or carpet, it can overheat without the fan kicking in to cool it down.
If you need to replace, the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display has a phenomenal cooling system that I highly recommend.
