Sound problem: I want to restore factory settings, but...
My iPhone 4S is having all kind of sound-related bugs, and I'd like to restore it to factory settings, hoping to get rid of these problems.
But I've read many times, that iOs 8 and 4s are not a good match.
Is there any way I can restore my iPhone to factory settings, but stay in iOs 7?
No - sorry. Once you restore your device to Factory Settings, the latest iOS will download to the device.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6. In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings. After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download. There is not enough available local storage to download these items. You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."

If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

What was the complete wording of the error message? Usually an error number is also given.

- Place the iPod in DFU mode and then restore

- Try another cable
- Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you can't perform a system recovery from the hard drive, you will need to order recovery disks from HP for your laptop.

If you type in your laptop model number, it will bring up a list of drivers and such for your laptop. If HP has recovery media available for your laptop, there will be an option on that page to purchase it. -
i was updating my nano ipod. deleting tunes making new playlist. i got a warning the day before that i didn't have tunes checked and they wouldn't sync. i didn't do anything about that since i was syncing at that point. then today i was doing some maintance on my itunes. and when i tried to sync it said it recognize my ipod which i have been using for a year. i tried checking all the songs and it came and said i didn't have enough memory to store. they were already stord so what the hey.?then a question comes up and says do i want to restore factory settrings? i'm afraid to do anything i don't want to lose my music . but now i can't even open my itunes. what to do and what did i do to break my itunes. help?i'm not a novice but not that savey on all things computers so make it simple please.

What happens when you need to restore factory settings but can't ?
iPod was working fine, no probs. Then, it switched to Disk Mode and became a grey screen instead of colour, and gave off the ! sign. I have tried to re set...no luck..have tried to restore factory settings...no change. Tried to restore again, and couldn't because of formatting failure "disk write error" Am ready to jump up and down on this thing !!!

I am a new iPod owner and haven't had the experience of tryiing various controls. I guess I'm conservative as I don't want to wind up erasing everything after all the hard work of scanning album covers for those that don't exists and typing in names of songs for albums that do not have online access to names.
Your answer is the one I was looking for to enable not sending some songs to the iPod that I still want to keep available in iTunes.

I have restored factory settings but it is still asking for passcode
My daughter has forgotten the passocde to her ipod touch Gen4. I put it into recovery mode & restored factory settings. The iPod showed that it was being restored. Now it is finished, the iPod is still asking for a passcode when we try to access it. Have I missed out a step?
What Passcode? If the Restrictions passcode then you have to restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If a screen-lock passcode then restoring from backup will not result in restoring the screen-lock passcode. -
How can i return my phone back to what it was 10 minutes ago and no i haven't backed up my phone since last year so i do a restore from what i have in my computer, this will only return my phone back to what it was a year ago. please help.
If you haven't backed the device up in a year, and you did not copy the pictures and other data off before restoring it, then your stuff is gone.
It is important that you back up your data, just like with your computer, regular backups are vital for recovering data when things happen. -

Maybe you should also post the exact notebook model and OS before you ask a question ;)
And what is your problem exactly? Do you get an error message or what happens exactly?
Have you tried to boot from Toshiba recovery disk? Then you must only follow the screen instructions. -

If it is an iMac from 2001, it isn't the first generation, albeit it is the first generic chasis structure. Significant modifications in terms of compatibility were made between 1998 and 2001. Thus if your desire is to install a browser on it, you'll have a bit of a chore doing it depending on the age. First off, determine which generation iMac it is:

Next if you don't have the original installer discs, at least discover which firmware is installed by booting into open firmware by holding command-option-o-f at startup.
It will give you a Boot ROM version.
This will tell you if you need to find some place with a compatible version of Mac OS 9 first before installing any version of Mac OS X. The iMacs listed here have specific firmware versions required before installing Mac OS X after the clock battery is replaced:

Once you have the correct firmware installed, let's discover if Mac OS 9 is sufficient for your web browsing needs:

If none of these serve your purposes as a web browser, then installing a compatible version of Mac OS X will give you many more choices. Tell us your iMac release version, and we can tell you what can be done. -

I understand that your HP Pavilion p6-2220t Desktop PC running Windows 7 used to connect to your home network without an issue, but recently it does not recognise the network. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection (Windows 7), which has steps to help resolve issues such as this. Now I am not recommending that you do the step that asks you to reset up your router as you have other devices that are working fine so that would not be the issue.
If the above document does not resolve your issue could you please re-post with either a screen shot of your Device Manager showing what is listed in Network Adapters or re-post with which wireless card you have.

Same thing happened with my iPhone 4S - no one is any help. Thanks Apple for such a crappy update! I've called Apple, they say the SIM card needs replacing, I go to my service provider they tell me nothing wrong with the SIM card - provider tells me I now need a new phone. Sheesh! Get an external drive and make a clone of your internal, erase the internal, set it for 1 partition (OSX Journaled) and restore the clone.
