Sound problems - HP Pavilion g6 Notebook

Hi,
Over the past few days sometimes I have had no sound. Restarting the computer or leaving it a while fixed it sometimes but not others, so it's basically coming and going.
When I try to mute it (not that there's any sound anyway), either using keys or on the screen, pressing the button does nothing.
Volume keys work in the sense that it says my volume is going up/down. However, if I've just increased it then the next time I press decrease it increases it by 1 more.
Not sure if that makes any sense, basically I keep losing sound, and it won't work either through speakers or headphones.
Thanks for any help!

This is a compatibility issue with the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and certain laptop models. The IDT audio came in a Windows update. A lot of other people are experiencing the same issue. A temporary fix is to go into your device manager, select sound, game, and video controller, disable the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and then re-enable it. Sound should come back temporarily although is likely to disapear again. A more permanent solution would be to uninstall the IDT audio driver alltogether and allow the HP laptop to revert back to it's original sound driver. This is the approach I am taking because I am starting to get blue screens and I do not want to fry my laptop. I will re post and let you know how it goes.

  • AMD Radeon Driver problem in Pavilion dv7 notebook

I have a pavilion dv7 notebook and for the last couple months I have been experiencing problems with my graphics driver.
It began with a notice that my driver was out of date, so I went to the AMD website and attempted to install the update. I ran the dxdiag tool to find that I have a AMD Radeon HD 6620G graphics card. I could not find my product on the list to manually install the update, so I tried the amd driver downloader tool and it had a problem recognizing my graphics card. I then tried to update it through the HP Support Assistance and that seemed to work for awhile.
Yesterday my screen changed to the lowest resolution and a notice came up that it wasn't recognizing my graphics driver. I have again tried to manually update from the AMD website. When that didn't work I downloaded the AMD driver downloader and after installing all it told me is that "your computer does not contain a proper graphics adapter" and closed the program.
I am uterally lost at this point, and any assistance would be greatly apreciated.

  • Sound problem in presario v6000 notebook

I have xp professional installed on my notebook presario v6425TU. Everything was very fine but a few days back the sound started cracking and producing unpleasant noises. One of my friends suggeste me to update the drivers. Therefore yesterday I connected to hp website and downloaded the drivers sp33867 and sp34200. I was able to install sp33867 but sp 34200 didn't install. Yet the sound started coming fine. But when I restarted my notebook all sound was gone and now there is no sound. Have I done anything wrong? Please help me.

    Hi,
Ok, that probably due to the file structure. Now my question where is the file come from, a video camera or copy from a BD ? If from a video camera, you need to copy from the whole structure from its HDD (or card), not just MTS file.
Each videocam company can do their way therefore you may need to convert to different format to be able to view and hear on computers.
    Regards.

  • Pavilion dv6 - loud beeping sound when starting +sound problem

i just bought an hp pavilion dv6 notebook LR732PA and every time i turn it on there's a loud beeping sound, and i'm not sure if this is normal but it asks me where to boot from (pc hard drive) and which oS (windows 7 64-bit). does anyone know how to stop the beeping?
Also sometimes the sound stops working altogether and an icon appears on the screen with a circle moving around it, and when i try to put the volume up the bar slides back down. it usually can be fixed by closing some programs and processes, it happens sometimes when ive just got 2 programs running and i close one and its ok, or if its not i have to restart. is this something to do with RAM or some kind of sound setting?
    Thanks =)

There could possibly be a RAM issue here are a couple of troubleshooting links that might resolve your issue or give you an idea what the beeping is referring to.

  • Sound Playback Issue with IDT High Definition Audio Codec HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Since i bought this laptop, every time i use skype or the Windows Sound Recorder, i hear static that drastically increases in volume. Uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Codec prompts my computer to automatically install the driver again, this usually fixes the problem, but after restarting my laptop, the problem returns.
Does anyone know a permanent fix to this issue?

  • Product name: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC Issue- No sound

Product name: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
    Product number: F9T46EA#ABU
    Hi ,
I have no sound on my computer, beside the speaker symbol in the toolbar is a red 'x'. When I press this it says detecting problems and then it says- 'Problem - one or more audio services isn't running' and then 'not fixed' beside that.
I investigated to see which audio service it was that wasn't functioning and it turns out that Windows Audio Service  is failing to run.
How do I resolve this problem?
    Áine

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Properties.  Click the Driver tab and then click 'Update driver'.  Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.  Left click 'High Definition Audio Device' once to highlight it and then click the Next button to install it.
    Has this made any difference?
    Regards,

  • Sound quick launch button doesn't work when i installed windows 8 in my hp pavilion dv3z notebook

    1. Product Name and Number
    hp pavilion dv3z notebook pc
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
         windows 8
      3. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
         installed windows 8
when i installed windows 8 in my hp pavilion dv3z notebook pc, the quick launch button of volume is always red and the sound is mute....the driver for quick launch buttons and driver for sound is also up to date....can you please help me?
    This question was solved.

When installing the audio driver, was it installed by following the prompts or in compatibility mode as outlined here?
Based on the Software and Drivers page for this unit, the unit was not tested and certified for Windows 8.  This means that some functionality may not be the same since the unit was not designed for Windows 8.  See this site for information and to find out if it has been tested for Windows 8.
If the sound driver has not been installed in compatibility mode, then I recommend using the Windows 7 64bit driver found here and using the linked steps above to install it in compatibility mode.
    Let me know what happens.

  • No sound after installing windows 7 on HP Pavilion dv1710us Notebook PC

I recently helped my uncle install windows 7 on his HP Pavilion dv1710us Notebook PC
and there was no sound after installation.. i downloaded several drivers for the realtek high definition audio driver (R2.39, 38, 37, etc)
then i tried the original driver from the HP drivers page and installed it.
usually when there is no sound, there would be a red X on the volume icon, but when i installed the original driver from the HP drivers page, there was no more red X.. Thinking that the sound was fixed, I tried to go on youtube and watch a video... i see the green bar moving up and down on the volume slide, but then i can't hear anything.
So is there any realtek high definition audio driver compatible for windows 7 on the HP pavilion dv1710us?
Is there something I have to do, like right click on the application and then change compatibility settings?
    thanks in advance.

I got it to work with windows 7 32 bit. I just went to hp website to support and downloads section. Type in your model number, then select windows xp as the operating system. Then download the audio driver and save it to your desktop. After the file is on your desktop you need to right click on it and click properties, then go to compatability tab and tell it to install as windows xp service pack 3. Hit apply then install. Hope it works for ya, worked for me.

  • Lost all sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook

I have a HP Pavillion dv6 notebook with a Widows 7 operating system and have lost all sound. Any suggestions as this is a 6 month old notebook?

I had the same issue last night after an automatic BIOS update.  I read about 7 pages of posts that seem to deal with the same issue and found a combination of actions that seem to have restored my audio functions completely.  I posted the solution and it resolved the issue for at least one other user who commented back.  It it works for you, please also post that it worked for you.  I suspect there are alot of users out there that have or will be experiencing the same issue.  It would be nice if HP would post the appropriate solution, it seems to have been going on for awhile.
    1. Through 'Device Manager / Sound, video and game controller' I uninstalled my audio driver (IDT High Definition CODEC) and also deleted the driver software for the device.
    2. Through 'Programs and Features' I uninstalled the IDT Audio Software (vers 1.0.6418.0) that was installed with the BIOS update.
    --> This forced a reboot.
--> When my system rebooted it automatically searched and found the appropriate audio driver -- now I've got audio and Media Center works fine...
    Hope this helps you.
