  • Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file...

I am running WMP 11.0.5721.5280. I am running XP SP3 with every update that has come out. I have 4 GB RAM and my processor is a Pentium 4, 2.6GHz.
I have a large collection of music file ripped from my CD collection. Almost every time I want to plat a music file I get a message; Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file, For additional assistance, click Web Help. When this
error box is displayed, a red 'X' placed next to the file in WMP.
When I click the "Web Help" button, I am taken to a MS website (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11b1) which tells me that I should go to the sound device website and make certain I have the latest driver. All of the advice which
is given does not apply to me. My sound device works fine! I can play CD, DVD (movies), and MP3 files. Even when I use RealPlayer, the same thing happens, but not as frequently.
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?

    They'll help you over here.

  • Computer crashes and sound loops while playing a game

My problem is similar some others i have seen in this forum and others. I have been struggling with this issues since i made the computer.  The problem is while playing counter-strike after around 30 min to 2 hours the screen freezes and the sound loops and then the monitor turns off and the computer restarts.  I have made possible attempts to fix the problem starting with buying a thermal take volcana for my cpu and a artic cooler for my video card.  I also have my cpu underclocked  from a 3200 to a 2500 i found that helps delay the problem a bit(i think anyway).  I have 4 fans in my case also.  I also thought it might be the onboard sound so i bought a logitec usp headset but that didn't fix the problem so i recently bought a sound blaster live 5.1 ls. I have also switch powersupplys though both were around 350-400 watts.
Any help or feedback it greatly appreciated.
    my specs are:
    MSI 9800 pro
    K7N2 Delta-L
    Athlon 3200+(underclocked to 2500)
    Soundblaster Live 5.1 ls
1 stick of 512 mb Ultra
350 watts not sure of the company came with the X-Dreamer II case
    hp cd-burner
Thanks for taking your time to read this any help/suggestions would be great

What are the max amps on 3 rails of your PSU what slot is your sound card in? Can you list your IRQ's? Run Memtest

  • Sound delay while playing video in iTunes.

    Dear community,
When playing video in iTunes the sound is increasingly delaying and after approximately 10 seconds it becomes almost impossible to watch the video. When you move to the other part of the video, the sound is back to normal for a short time and then becomes delayed again.
When video is playing, it is possible to hear that sound is not smooth, but has very minor breaks. The video is downloaded to the computer. I opened this video with Windows Media Player and QuickTime and it works good, but, unfortunately, it does not work correctly while playing in iTunes player.
I experience this problem on Windows 7 32-bit.
    Please, help with this problem.
    Sincerely,
    Roma

    Solved.
    Found this great solution:

This is what worked for me for Windows 7 — Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices > >>> Right click on your Speakers and Headphones and go to Properties > Advanced
Now… bring the quality of your sound down – I changed mine from 24 bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) TO 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality) — it works like a charm for me now! Hope this helps.

And another one, but not tested:

I am one of many that had the synch problem. I say HAD because I finally found a fix or possibly an incorrect setting in BIOS. I noticed one of the sound settings in Bios was set to HD.
I had the option to change to AC97. saved the Bios and rebooted……hooray problem solved. I also noticed that unlocking cores made the symptom even worse. All is running very well with all cores unlocked and 24bit 192000Hz set on the sound card.
for information I have a ASUS M4N68T-M V2 motherboard and
    Xonar DS sound card
    Hope this helps.

  • Strange green screen problem while playing movie

For the first time I purchase a movie from iTunes Store, As I started playing it neither I could hear the sound nor I could see the video but after much of effort of re-starting my iTunes and MacBook, it started to play but while playing the movie if I shift to full screen mode, a strange green screen appears for a second or two and then plays normally and if while playing I return back to normal screen, the green screen never goes, then again I have to stop the movie and restart iTunes to be able to play back the movie normally. Does anyone have any idea about this strange problem?

    Hi Maen Abdulhaq,
“When I start games like Red Alert2 and a lot others”, ” I don't think that this is a manufacturer problem since it's very common to all those having windows 7 x64 and trying to play such games”
Did this issue occur in the whole games or just the Red Alert2 in your machines ?
    “unfortunalety windows compatibility settings”
Have you tried in windows 98 or lower compatibility mode, please ensure you have choose run as an administrator?
Apart from this ,I recommend you to try this method.
create a shortcut of "Yuri.exe" (or "Game.exe" if running normal RA2), and place it on the desktop. Open the properties, and in the target line add "-dxlevel 8" to the end. It should look like this (or similar if you're directories
    are different).
     "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm) II\RA2\YURI.exe" -dxlevel 8
Meanwhile,  entering Intel HD Graphics control panel (via Windows Control Panel or right-clicking the desktop) and enter Power section. Choose "High performance" mode.
If the issue persists, I recommend you to disable one graphic card from the device manager to have a check considering you have two graphic cards.
    Best regards

  • Flash Player having problems while playing online games on OS X Mavericks

i use mbp mid 2010 with os x mavericks 10.9.2 and while playing online games, it usually happens some freezes and delays. when i play same game with same browser on windows 7(bootcamp) there is no freeze and delay. i have made lots of search about this and made some optimizations on flash player settings but the problem continues. i use both chrome and firefox on both mavericks and win7 (bootcamp) but having the same problems on mavericks every time. the game is very slow with freeze and delays on mavericks. will adobe make a real effective upgrade about flash player for macs.

Hmmm... Win 7 will run faster than Mavericks with 8Gb. Even my Vm of 7 runs faster once I get it past all the startup processes.
It may or may not be a connectivity problen since Windows uses a different protocol, even though it's on the same hardware. Usually though, what affects OS X will affect BootCamp too.
    What browser?

  • Sound stops while playing music with iTunes Match

While playing music from iTunes Match, the sound stops.  The music continues to play but there is no sound.  If I double click the song, the sound will start again.  But after that song is finished and it advances to the next song.  The sound will stop again and I have to double click the song again.  Other sounds on my MB-Air will still work.  Anyone else having this issue? Thanks

It happens to me too. I listen the most on my iPhone. Song is playing, but no sound. Sometimes I have to close the app and relaunch to recover. Very annoying.

I had the same hassle but with 865 pro. I jsut link my Plextor Multirecorder with Motherboard via simple audio cable. This cable 4 pin socket with only 3 cords connected. Take a look on the back of your drive - there should be proper socket.
But in Instant-on mode cd-player has very slow navigation - i have to wait up to 7-10 seconds when switching tracks!

  • Sound drops while playing DVD

Hopefully I can describe this issue accurately enough for some assistance.
My MacMini is connected to a TV via DVI and a 3.5 audio connection. Recently, when watching DVDs through Front Row, I have been noticing audio dropout during loud scenes in movies. The sound does not go out totally it just reduces, almost like it looses stereo, then jumps back up to normal volume when the scene background noise decreases or stops.
I've also noticed that sometimes the sound is not perfectly synched with the video image, this is rare though and is so slight you can barley notice sometimes.
Any idea why this might be happening? Is there anything I can do with my system configuration to help this?

I'm sorry no-one has been able to help you. I'd say that was rare, but looking back at some of the other threads you've started I can see why you might conclude that Apple Discussions isn't much help!
While I can't help you directly because this is not a problem that is familiar to me, I use a Mac mini (older G4 model) to play TV content (Real media files) on a TV, and Front Row to access and play a ripped DVD library. I don't experience either sound dropout or audio-sync issues you describe, but it does make me wonder what type of files you're playing, and how (without going into details since discussion of ripping methodologies isn't allowed here) the DVD content is put on your system for replay. In other words, my first suspicion would be whether something in the ripping process is causing these problems.
Given that I can't offer a similar experience I realize this isn't all that helpful, but perhaps that might get the ball rolling - with luck!

  • Video sound problem (surround plays as incomplete stereo)

I got some music videos from a DVD to my iPod with the help of someone on this forum, but now I have a new problem. On the DVD, there's an option to choose surround or stereo, but the videos automatically ripped/converted in an incomplete stereo, which seems to be playing only two of the five or six surround tracks. I couldn't find a way to change this in either program, but I'm really not very good at this yet. Help!
(in case it's of any relevance, the DVD was Peter Gabriel's PLAY, and I have a 5G 60GB.)

I used DVD Decrypter and Videora, because they're both free and I have no money right now. Is there another free ripper or converter that would work better? Did I just use the wrong [something] in DVDD? Do I absolutely have to buy software to do this right? If so, I'm just outta luck for a few months.
As a Mac user, I know nothing about Videora but can describe the process in MPEG Streamclip which is available for both Mac and Windows platforms. It is free but requires QT MPEG-2 component support which normally would cost about $20 from Apple. Fortunately, there is a free KL Alternative for Windows users described on the Squared 5 web site if you are interested.
What confuses me most is that some of the videos sound fine (Sledgehammer, Big Time) While others are obviously incomplete (Shock the Monkey, Games w/o Frontiers) and sound terrible, mix-wise. Did I do something right for half the videos and do it wrong for the others?
Depends on the application used. Handbrake, for instance, automatically mixes down multichannel audio to two stereo channels. On the other hand, MPEG Streamclip defaults to this option when opened but can be user modified to strip/map optional channels to stereo and, if desired mix the stereo channels to mono as part of the conversion process if desired. You should check to see if Videora includes similar user options which you may have failed to exploit fully.
What should I do, step by step? Or is there a tutorial I can follow?
Am sure there must be detailed tutorials available, but don't know of an specific URLs off hand. If you decide to try the MPEG Streamclip application (still requires the use of DVD Decrypter), can provide specific instructions if/when the program is up and running on your computer. Will also need to know target goals for conversion -- e.g., simple baseline or baseline LC profile requirements, etc.

  • Sound problems when playing games

I have just bought a new iPod touch. I've noticed that when listening to my headphones, when I play a game the sound goes very crackly. This goes for both the games sound but also whatever mp3 I happening to be listening to. If I exit the game, the sound returns to normal. It doesn't appear to be a problem in other programs (as far as I can tell).
Can anyone shine a light on this?
    Cheers
    Ross

Yea sorry, should have done that at the start.
I only have 3 games but over 10 apps. I only have problems with these:
    – PapiJump
    – PapiRiver
    – CannonGame
It's not just when I'm using the headphone jack either. Even if I use the external speaker, I can be in the game menu and the sound is ok, as soon as it starts playing it goes crackly. This is both when I am playing a song or when I am just listening to the game sounds.
