Sound Problems with Ipod. NOT the headphones

Hello, a few days ago i was using my ipod and all the sudden there was no music coming out of my right headphone. I just thought it was the headphones so i bought new headphones. But that didn't solve the problem. This has happened to me before on an ipod but i could return it to the retailer i got it from, but now it is too late.
There is no sound coming from the right headphone but if i move the headphone jack around and push it in more, then i get audio in the right headphone. I have a 5.5 Generation iPod 30GB. Any ideas would be greatly thanked

Hi
I'm not a big techie but I had this problem and i took my 5th Gen 60GB to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store in Regent Street, London and they knew exactly what the problem was.
The iPod has a weak point in the headphone socket. If pressure is exerted on the headphone jack whilst it is in the socket it weakens the socket and eventually the socket breaks (always in the right ear). The only solution to this is prevention. Always use a set of 'phones that has a short or elbow shaped jack and always remove the jack from the socket when not in use!
Sorry Patrekeosully88 but you need to contact Apple and see what they are prepared to do for you. I was lucky cos it happened before 6th Gen hit the stores and they kindly gave me a shiny new one as the case etc was in near mint condition and they could see that I had looked after it.
Good luck!

Try booting in Safe Mode by holding the the shift key immediately after powering on your system. Safe boot mode will for a directory check of your startup volume, then load only the required kernal extensions (kext files), and deletes some cache files. Once the system boots into Safe Mode you can simply restart the system to see whether the issue has been resolved.
If you still have the issue try resetting the SMC by shutting down the system and disconnecting the power cord for ~15 seconds, then reconnecting the power cord. Next, reset the parameter RAM (PRAM) by holding down the option-option-P-R keys after powering ON the system. Wait until the iMac restarts twice, then let the system boot normally.

  • Sound problem with iPod Shuffle

Well, I have a problem with my iPod Shuffle. My Shuffle is about 11months old and I have not had any big problems with it but now I have.
When I'm listening to my music on my Shuffle, I do not hear any sound from my right earphone unless I press down the connecting part of the earphones (I meen the part that goes in to the iPod, don't know the name). So is there anybody that has the same problem and should I send it to the support?

Hi! I have the EXACT same problem with my iPod shuffle! (Except that it is in the LEFT ear and not the RIGHT.) I used to be able to fix it by pressing on the plug thing, but now no matter what I do it still doesn't work. (I've had mine for about, 9 1/2 months.) I'm trying right now to figure out what I want to do with it (whether I'm going to send it in or not), because I also have a purchased warranty from Futureshop, where I bought it... so if you get anymore info about this problem, let me know!

  • Problem with ipod not turning on

well heres the thing.... i dropped my ipod a few months ago then i tried to turn it on using reset etc. and all that other stuff you gotta do to try and get it to work, including waiting 24 hours and then resetting also connecting to other computers, and charger etc.... but when restarting i can hear the hard drive start to spin clicks and then slows down (like a powering down noise), without anything coming up on the screen... i have connected my ipod to the computer and it doesn't recognize it, but sometimes recognizes it, but doesn't come up with the drive in my computer... after a while (approx 5mins) it will come up with auto play and the drive will come up but then disappear straight away.... i am thinking probably a hard drive problem. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Dropping didn't help matters. YOu don't want to hear it, but I'd say time for a new iPod.

Was listening to music with headphones and after a while music stopped working, i unplugged headphones from ipod and music played but no sound came out, even on highest volume. whats wrong with me ipod? can anyone help? i kinda not afford to get it fixed.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Help. Problems with iPod Notes.

    I've got iPod Classic 160GB.
I wanted to view photos using Notes feature. When I uploaded some photos to Notes folder in iPod and previewed them, all of them were streched.
So I found out that photos are shown in 320x216 size, so I've tried to upload some photos that size.
Guess what - trying to preview most of those photos resets my iPod! How should I understand and fix this?
Just some of photos were opened and some says "Unable to view this image".

Given that the iPod Classic has a specific approach to photos, why use notes? It is probably a format that the Notes tool isn't expecting.
Just use the photo capability in iTunes and sync your photos to your iPod. You'll likely be much happier.

  • Problem with iPod not seeing a whole track

I have an album as a collection of MP3's. I imported it into iTunes and have played it a couple of times, and all tracks are fine - but when I synced my iPod - 3 of the tracks finish early and abruptly.
I have tried deleting the tracks from the ipod and re-syncing and then the whole album - but no good.
    Anyone got any ideas?

I had a whole lot of tracks doing that for a long time and I couldn't find a solution. What ended up fixing it was, I had to completely delete them from my library and re-add them. I had been avoiding doing that because I didn't want to loose my play counts, but it was the only thing that worked.

  • Problems with iPod not booting up, not turning off, not responding.

So as of yesterday... if the iPod Touch is plugged in to the comp to sync up, things are generally fine. I can even unplug it for about 5 minutes and things are fine. Battery is fully charged, all content appearing normally. But, suddenly it wil cycle between about 10 seconds of totally black screen, to 10 seconds of silver apple logo, and back to black screen, and I can't seem to turn it off or reset it or get it to come back to the home screen until I plug it in to sync again. Tried resetting settings, no improvement, tried restoring from iTunes, no improvement. Just those two screens flickering back and forth, again and again. Anyone know what this is?

Anyone? Crickets? After a second restore (where first I let the battery drain, THEN did the restore the second I plugged it in) it is still crashing (to the flashing black, apple logo, black, apple logo business) but now I can almost always hold the buttons in long enough to get it ask me if I want it to power off, then I say no, then it returns to the home screen, where it will appear to work before another crash a few minutes later.

This is the new ipad with retina display and is only 2 months old and otherwise works fine. Please help!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem

    Hi sarahdavis0_o,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If neither your iPod or iPhone are being recognized by iTunes when connected, I would recommend the steps in the following article.

I'm having problems with iPhoto and the facebook set-up.  Every time I attempt to do so it says an error has occured and try again later.  I have not seen a solution posted.  Therefore, how does one contact Apple to solve the problem?  I'm new to the world of iMac but I find it a bit frustrating trying to solve basic issues/problems:(

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

If you mean that you aren't getting the reset link, then from the page that you posted from :
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
You can contact iTunes Support in your country via this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use
