Sound Profile - Contact Alerts

RIM, I do like having the ability to set individual ringtones for my contact's phone numbers, but not a huge fan of the Tour having you select a specific ringtone for any messages received from that contact as well, this overrides the alert you have set for any emails or text messages in general.  I would prefer for contacts to only have a set ringtone for phone numbers, not messages.  I preferred the Sound Profile Options on my Pearl when a text message had the text message sound, or an email had an email sound as I set in my sound profile regardless of the contact.

I realize you don't have to set a custom ringtone for a contact.  My issue is I want to have a custom ringtone only for when they call me, but the way the Tour's Sound Profile is set up, you have to set a custom ringtone for both Phone Calls and Messages, you can't do just 1 or the other if you want to.

  • Contact alert custom vibration won't set to "active profile"

I have one contact that I set to vibrate a certain way for SMS messages (short five) that is different than my regular setting (short 10). When I set the custom vibration under the contact alert, it gives me the "In Holster," "Out of Holster," Always," and "Active Profile" options. It defaults to "in Holster" and I want it set to "Active Profile". That way it vibrates regardless of whether it's in my holster, in my pocket, on my desk, etc. Problem is, I can't save that setting. I select "Active Profile", save the settings, and it defaults back to "in holster." Is this a software glitch or am I missing something? Thanks.
    U.S. Cellular Tour 9630 running v5.0.0.484 (Platform 4.2.0.214)

    Solved...
I reinstalled on my home Mac, "authorized" the song, re-synced the phone, and now works as it should.

  • Download different preset system sound profiles?

I just purchased my new laptop 2 days ago which came with the new Windows 8.1. I have spent several hours scouring the internet for sites that have sound profiles that have already been set to each event, so I don't have to spend the next 11 million years
    setting each one manually.
I am quite displeased with the lack of personalization features especially after how much I paid, which a lot of the cost was for this new-fangled OS. There is only one set of system sounds, and it is extremely quiet compared to the rest of the sounds such
as any playing music, Skype message/call alerts, etc. Even at full volume, I cannot hear the system sounds and that is annoying to me.  I want to hear when I click on anything or open a link, the familiar crisp and loud "tick" sound from Windows
    7, but it is missing.
I only want the sound profiles, I don't need a bunch of picture sets or other graphically related things, just the preset sound files that are ready to go as soon as you download them.  This shouldn't have been an issue with new aged technology like
this.  I personally think the interface customization options should be much greater, but there is only 12 or 14 factory wallpapers installed, and there is no diversity in the selections. I know its no big deal to download a high resolution wallpaper
from anywhere online, but after paying several hundred dollars for Windows 7 with a new skin on it, one would expect to at least be able to find one or two customization settings that suits their desires, but due to lack of any choices, I have not been able
to become comfortable with my new system.
If anybody has any information on where I might be able to find some sounds, that would be great.  Look forward to getting this figured out.
    Thanks,
    Steele

Did you download these songs from ITMS? or some other source?
Check the bit rate on the songs via itunes and see what it says. It will give you some information as to why the songs sound the way they do.

  • My phone randomly doesn't ring when people call and not sound the text alert. I checked all the settings and them seem to be correct. Anyone know how to fix this?

My phone randomly doesn't ring when people call and not sound the text alert. I checked all the settings and them seem to be correct. Sometimes it rings, many times it doesn't. I have missed several calls. Same with texts. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Symptoms
    No ringer sound
Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Go to step 2)
Go to Settings> General> Reset> Erase All Content and Settings. Warning: This will delete all user data on the device. Verify that you have a backup before proceeding. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Go to step 3)
Restore device using latest version of iTunes. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Contact Apple for service options)

  • Sound Profiles - exceptions

On my old Blackberry I was able to edit ring tone profiles with exceptions.  For example, I could set it on 'Silent' at night but apply an exception that certain contacts would ring through.  That way, if my teens were out, they could call or text me but every other call/text/e-mail would be silent.
Is there a way to do this on the 8530 Curve?
    Thanks!

  • How do you manage sound profiles?

Is there anyway to manage sound profiles? It seems like I have to manually turn each sound setting off if I don't want to be alerted at night. I still want rings to come through. Is there not a way to set up profiles so I can set all the sounds according to the profile?

From what I can tell the iPhone (ios 5x) does not have a feature equivalent to the Blackberry "Sound Profile".  Nor do I see an app that will provide this.
For example, on the Blackberry I could set a sound profile called "Loud" which would have the individual ringtones, vibrate and volume settings I want for when I'm in a noisy place.  I could have another setting called "Quiet" with the settings I want in a quiet place, a setting for "Silent" etc.  Then I  could simply select which Sound Profile I want to be in effect. Very useful, very convenient, very easy to use.
The iPhone has the ability to set global sound parameters (volume, alert sound, ring tone) BUT does not have the ability to save sets of global sound parameters for instant retrieval and use by the user. This is, in my view, a shortcoming.  Not a show-stopper, but a shortcoming.
Not to compare Blackberry devices to iPhones, but the "sound Profile" feature in the Blackberry is very useful and I wish Apple would provide ths feature and urge them to do so.

  • Automatically change sound profiles

I keep forgetting to turn my phone off silent mode when I leave work.  The bf is getting really irratated that never answer my phone.  Is there a way (either through the BB or an application) set my phone up to automatically change the sound profile change at a certain time of the day?  I have a curve 8530

What sound are you talking about?  If you want to use Find My iPhone (which is used for any ios device, like a touch), there is no sound that's part of the equation.

  • Unable to open Firefox. Get Profile Missing Alert box saying "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

Following the most recent FireFox Update I can no longer open or use the FireFox browser. I reinstalled a new version and still get the same Profile Missing Alert.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Missing basic feature: sound profiles

Less than a week ago, I became an iPhone owner.
At the moment, I'm stumbed because such a simple feature as "sound profiles" (which Nokia has since last decade) isn't available in our brand new iOS5 or App Store.
This is a formal request to Apple Engineers: either let developers create an application as such or create one for us. A good example for you to look at: Android app 'Setting Profiles Lite'.
I wonder if my 4s ever will see the day of light of such an app!

You are not addressing Apple here at all.
If you want Apple to read it then post to their feedback link:

  • Suggestion: Manipulation of Sound Profiles within the BB Desktop Manager

How many times have you had to adjust, readjust, and/or set up a new or change a sound profile. It is kludge at best on ANY blackberry device. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to minipulate sound profiles with a click or a drop down on your desktop as well????? Sure would save me time... Just a suggestion
Maybe someone has made this recommendation before.... If so great! If not, let's hear it from the mass-BB-users out there - input??
    Thanks!

  • Why no sound profiles on 10?

    Rim - I want sound/notification profiles back
    What was wrong with
    Normal
    Loud
    Medium
    Silent
    Vibrate Only
    Phone Calls only

I want the ones like hitting "K" to toggle sound profile to silent. Although without sound profiles there's not much use for  a shortcut to it. True speed dialing, one-touch from the home screen is another thing I miss. Or launching an app with just a keystroke. Those are the things that made using a BlackBerry so darn efficient it was addictive.

  • Blackberry torch - lost all sound profiles

    Hello nikkib1,
    Welcome to the forums.
Try clearing your Sound Profiles database using the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager as shown here http://bbry.lv/HPDqUG Then test again.

  • IPhone 4 Sound Profiles

Does anyone know if Apple has created an app for sound profiles yet for the iPhone 4?  My blackberry had that option and I really miss being able to turn off all sounds except texts at night.  It seems like such a simple app to create and I'm surprised I haven't been able to find it.

I'm with ya, Jen - I sure wish there was an app like this as well. It would be incredibly useful for a lot of people. I can only imagine that there's something about iOS' security model that makes an app like this difficult. I do know there are some out there for "jalbroken" phones that look great, but I have no desire to go down that path.

  • Application for message profile in alert notification

    Dear all,
While creating message profile for alert notificaions we have application e.g. ALEN, AMON etc.
Request to please let us know the significance of these applications? And are these sap standard?
    Regards,
    mahesh.
Edited by: mahesh m on May 13, 2011 9:45 AM

    Hi Mahesh
First of all, thats a good question
You are right, these are SAP standard application ids
Currently the following business applications use the following application ids regarding alert notifications:
    u2022     SNC, SPP: ALEN
    u2022     EWM: AEWM
    u2022     APO: AMON
Different application ids mean different handling of alerts and alert notification profiles, so that they can handle their respective application like SNC SPP alerts and profiles.
In simple way SNC application screens alerts/profiles are grouped under ALEN
    Best Regards
    Vinod
