I have an old ipod nano (2nd generation) with music on it from an old itunes account from a few years ago.  I have a new itunes account now.  How do I get the music (that I purchased) transferred into my new itunes library?

    Hi sid1010,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can redownload music that you have purchased directly to your iTunes Library.  Here's how:

  • Ipod nano (2nd generation) won't play any sound

as the title says, my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont play any sound. the songs still play just fine, but no sound or very little sound is coming out. i've tried different headphones, none of them working. and then i attempted using my speakers which worked at the highest volume of both the ipod and the speakers, but very little sound came out and it sounded fuzzy.
after this, i reset my ipod, then restored it, and still no sound. so i reset the ipod again, making sure that everything under the setting was correct for the sound. i even tried putting the clicker on "headphones" and that didnt work either. it connects to the computer fine and has a fully charged battery.
    help please?
      Windows Vista

thank you for your suggestions, but everything seems to be working normally except the sound coming out of the ipod. i reset the volume limit and nothing. also, there was no volume limit in the summary tab.
again, thank you for your help... any other suggestions/ideas?

  • Sound quality of the various generations of iPods

Hi, I wondered if anyone has any opinions about the overall sound quality of the various generations of iPods.
    Thanks, Chris

I can only speak for myself, I have not used 1st, 2nd,6th Generation and new Nano of iPods, but the differential of sound quality among 3rdG, mini and Nano are not noticeable. I read an article in Hong Kong (I may no agree with), indicating that iPod Shuffle's sound quality is not as good as other iPod models, but iPod Shuffle's sound qualtiy is still above other MP3 players.
Having said that, believe your ears.

  • My ipod nano (2nd generation) will cont connect with windows or itunes, windows says it has had reported errors??? any help? havnt used ipod in over a week and now it wont work with my computer

my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont connect with windows or itunes, i used it last week (charged it through USB) then this week when i connect it (once again through USB) it wont work, it says "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems" any help? ive made sure my itunes is up to date, done a reboot on my computer and ipod and still nothing..help please

This could either be a conflict with the iPod's docking port, the iPod's USB sync cable, or even the USB port you are plugging the iPod into on your PC.  So the first thing I would try and do is plug the iPod into a different USB port on your PC.  Make sure it's a high powered USB 2.0 port as they provide a higher power throughput than older USB ports or even the ones that are sometimes available on the front of the tower.
It might help to disconnected all other USB devices from the PC (minus the keyboard and mouse) and reboot the PC. Then reconnect the iPod once again.
If still no luck, swap out the cable with another known working cable to rule out the possibility of a damaged or faulty cable.
Lastly, plug the iPod into another PC to see if it's recognized there.  If the same error appears on another machine, it's likely a hardware issue with the Nano meaning you'll want to have it serviced or replaced.

  • I have an ipod nano 2nd generation with a non responsive click wheel

I have an ipod nano 2nd generation with a non responsive click wheel. I have fully charged it tried resetting it and on two different computers with the latest iTunes I have restored it with the latest firmware then moved it to hold and off hold held in the menue button and select button for 10 seconds but all I get is a screen where I select the language but cant get any response from the scroll wheel.
The hold button is working (I see the lock icon go on and off) I have done the restore procedure and then reset many times but no good I am wondering if I should open it up and disconnect the battery for 30 seconds.
I would appreciate any advice thanks in advance. (This is my Daughters ipod mine is an 8 gig one.)

You need a newer model iPod, a 4G or 5G. The 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • Nano 2nd Generation, Problems with Songs ???

Hello, I have transfered songs from my iTunes to my Nano and there is 2 songs that play for couple of seconds than just stops and goes to the next song. Weird thing is when i go to play the song directly from iTunes it plays normally. I have also downloaded the songs to my Ipod Video 30gb and the same exact songs play normal with no problems. ?????? I just dont understand whats wrong. I have even did the 5 R's and restored my Nano and still the same problems with just those 2 songs. I could just go without those 2 songs but, it just makes me curious to why it works in iTunes and on my Ipod Video 30gb, but not on the Nano. If you have had this problem before or know of a solution your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for taking the time to read this...
Ipod Nano 2nd Generation   Other OS   Windows Vista

I have this exact same problem, but after doing the 5 R's it is now cutting songs short that didn't have that problem before. Unlike Junz, I can't live with random songs being cut off. I am very interested in an answer as well.

  • IPod Nano 2nd Generation is requesting 4 digit code. I have never set a lock code. What is this and how can I get my Nano running again?

There is no other way to bypass the combintation lock other than to connect the nano to iTunes and restore it to factory settings, erasing all content and settings from the iPod.

  • Battery dead on ipod nano (2nd generation) What do I do?

Dead battert on my ipod nano (2nd generation) What do I do? Should I get it replaced or just buy a new one?

You have 1 of three routes if you want to get it replaced. Whether or not it is worth it is entirely up to you.
    1) Have Apple replace the battery in it for a flat fee.  See this page for pricinghttp://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/ and this page for setting up the service request. http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
    2) Locate and utiltize a third party service (there may even be some shops/service centers in your area).  I have no suggestions as to which one is better than another, so for now you'll have to Google for "iPod battery replacement" and you should get a number of results. This is slightly cheaper than the Apple route although a bit riskier in terms of having the job done right.
    3) If you consider yourself handy with small electronics you can purchase a new battery from an online retailer and use one of the numerous guides online to swap it out yourself.  I usually stick with http://www.ifixit.com for parts and step-by-step guides. Of course this route is the cheapest, but is the most difficult.

For sure.    Sorry I couldn't bring better news.
You can find some pretty cheap repair quotes from 3rd party repair companies.  It might not hurt to look into it.

  • NANO 2nd generation

Just bought a new nano 2nd generation. Can you download music video to a 4gb nano??
    on the Ipod push menu
    then I click MUSIC
    then I click Playlist
    then I click Music Video
    And noting is there!!
I have purchased music vidoe from Itune. Teh music videos are in my playlist on my computer and will play on my computer. I connect my ipod, sync it music will download to my ipod and play fine. But the music videos will not. why do we have a playlist that says MUSIC VIDEOS if they will not go there??

No, you cannot playback video content on the nano.
Ignore that playlist, it's either there by accident (transferred from iTunes) or by default (already there when you take the iPod out of the box), but no-one seems to know how it actually gets there.
It's a commonly asked question because this playlist appears on the nano which leads people to believe the nano is video capable when in fact it isn't.

  • How can i get my photos and videos back after backing up from my 2nd generation ipod into my 5th generation ipod? I really need those photos but i dont know how.

I downloaded the new itunes. So, i plugged in my 5th generation ipod and when i plugged it in, it asked me if i want to set it as new ipod or back up from the 2nd generation ipod touch that i plugged in before, i accidently clicked on the back up from before so it when its done, it looked like my 2nd gen. ipod and i dont like it. All my photos and videos from 5th gen. Ipod were all gone and there are some pictures that i really need as soon as possible. Is there a way i can i can get those photos and videos back? I really need them. :(

Did you fail to import them to your computer?
If so, then they are gone.

  • Should an iPod Nano 2nd Generation Work With Windows Vista?

I understand that many people are having problems with their iPods and come here for support and solutions.
I'm just wondering if the iPod Nano 2nd generation 4g I have that is working just fine SHOULD work with latest iTunes on Windows Vista laptop (which I haven't used yet)?

Just to close this out I was able to connect the second generation 4g iPod Nano without issue. In a matter of minutes I had it loaded, recognized by iTunes with up-to-date software, sync with over 900 songs and almost 200 pictures and then ejected (I manually manage music)! Really sorry for those who can't get iTunes and/or iPod to work!

  • IPod Nano (2nd generation) not fully compatible with BOSE SoundDock

I can't get the remote control for my BOSE SoundDock to function with my newly purchased 2 GB iPod Nano (2nd generation).
The BOSE manual states that the remote control will not function properly if the iPod doesn't have the proper (or later) version of Apple software installed.
The "correct" software that BOSE identifies for the iPod mini (Nano) is version 1.2 or later.
This, however, appears only applicable to iPod 1st generation Nanos.
My brand new ipod Nano has version 1.1.2 software and iTunes has confirmed this to be the most current software for this 2nd generation unit.
Is this a common problem? It's hard to believe the BOSE unit does not cover 2nd generation iPod Nano software.
Other than the non-funtioning remote control, the BOSE unit works fine and with the BOSE-supplied black adpater for the Nano.

Actually, the BOSE SoundDock is compatible with the iPod Nano.
After troubleshooting with the BOSE staff, and some excellent customer service, the problem was narrowed down to the remote control device.
BOSE sent out a new remote control and the unit works fine with my iPod Nano.
Appreciate all who offerred assist in this matter.
