Sound static when moving around in gChrome and firefox
MSI 880GMA- E45
Maybe you guys can help me. I have this strange problem with my sound when I switch/ move around ( open new tabs, scroll up and down in a window) in internet browsers (worst in chrome). I sometimes hear it when I am playing music ( in winamp, windows media ) and WoW at the same time but mainly in the browsers. It sounds like a crackling static sound from my speakers. A few times my music was slowed.
I updated all my drivers for everything! All connections are secure and tested by turning them and making sure they are in the jacks.
Any idea what could be causing this?

Its not a buzzing a sound its a static crackle when i scroll in a internet window and move tabs. its like the sound just cant keep up?
I don't know how to describe it in english, but it souds like yours.
I'm a bit doubtful about your power supply, but... Are you sure the sounds does'nt come from it ?
The Vcore thing, just try another setting than "auto" for CPU (between 1,20V and 1,35V for exemple, the lower the better if otherwise stable), to see if the sounds disappears or not.

I am getting a lot of static when using Brookstone wireless headphones and watching movies on the Apple TV. I know it is not headphones, because they work fine when I switch it to cable TV, then the sound is clear with no static. Any suggestions? Which wireless headphones work best with the apple TV?
Ok so I've been doing more testing. It's all videos on the iTunes store. Anytime I try to download a podcast or stream it or anything it's super slow. To download an episode of Diggnation it tells me over 2 hours to download but the time keeps climbing and I just stop the transfer.
Some people said it's an Open DNS thing? Maybe it is but it's not computer specific and I couldn't find a way to change the DNS settings in my Airport, only on each computer. I tried deleting PLists and restoring my Apple TV and restoring my Airport and nothing is working.
I don't know if it an issue with me, my ISP or Apple. Anyone else experiencing this problem? -
Windows Crashes with JRE 1.4.2 When Moving around JDialog
Hi!
I work on a Java Applet/application that was originally written to run on java 1.1 -- only AWT that too. Recently I managed to convince my manager (and his manager and his manager) to migrate from the AWT framework on java 1.1 (Microsoft JVM that is ) to Swing/JFC on Sun Java 1.4.2 ... it took a lot of explaining, demostrating, begging, pleading etc., to get this project funded.
Now, my app is all developed in JFC and ready for deployment and during testing found a potential show stopper -- When a Dialog Box or any moveable componant (internal windows etc) is moved around (holding down the mouse on the title bar of a dialog and dragging it around), the OS simply froze up ... nothing could be done other than power cycling the PC. Does anyone know if its a bug in JRE 1.4.2 and if it has been fixed?? This could potentially result in rolling back to AWT :(( .... and of course me looking like a fool in front of my manager!!
..... Please provide any suggestion other than moving to JRE 1.5.x beta. I've also noticed this happening in other Java Applications (Netbeans for example). So, I think this is a major bug the JRE 1.4.2.
A million thanks and few Duke Dollars for anyone pointing me in the right direction.
Note:
1. This problem is not just with my app ... some other java apps that are installed on my workstation (like netbeans) behave the same when Moving Around dialog boxes.
2. The behaviour is very random. But it has happened multiple times (and the very first time my manager run our app on jre 1.4.2)
I would give a million dollars if I had them. But for now, please do with the million thanks and few duke dollars.Have you tried this on another machine?Yes ... actually this has happened on a few workstations here ... all of them are Pentium IV based dell workstations running Windows 2000.
What exact version of 1.4.2 did you download?Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_04
Using JRE version 1.4.2_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
Have you searched the bug database? This one could be related to yours:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4673572
This sounds similar but the difference is its not just the app that feezes up (so that you could do an alt+ctrl+del and kill it)..... the OS freezes up and you can move the mouse around still the system even queu e is not full and eventuall all I hear is the beeping. At this point I've to power cycle.
Is there any way you could post the code or is it too big? Or, have you tried just creating a very small >application or applet that just shows one dialog, and if so, does that show the same problem? (What I'm >trying to get at here is - is it something in your code that is causing this, or something in the JRE, or >perhaps something to do with your machine's configuration/OS?)Unfortunately I cannot post the code ... its company rules and regulations. I've tried creating a very small app and it appears to work ok .... but randomly causes this freeze up. There is no definate pattern (except that it happens when you move around a JDialog or a JInternalFrame) . It could freeze up some time and work perfectly fine at other times. It has actually happened on other applications too (Netbeans, JEdit etc). That's why I suspect this might be a obscure bug in the JRE.
I'll try to find a pattern so that it can be re-produced by everyone.
Thanks for the help. -
When I using the mouse to select portion of the diagram or the panel, or when I moving objects- I found that in all the vi's that I compiled from former versions of labview- there is a delay of close to a second to the actual selection or movement of the item. This happens in 2 machines out of 5 that I tested it, and it happened both in windows 2000 and in windows 98. any suggestions?
Sometimes a video driver issue. Update your video driver.
Or turn down the video driver hardware acceleration. Right-click an
empty area of the desktop, choose the Settings tab, choose the Advanced
button.
The location of this differs in different versions of Windows.
Win2000: go to Troubleshooting, and turn down the slider for hardware
acceleration.
Win98: I think it's on another tab.

Photoshop CS2 redraw garbage when moving around an image window on my G4 laptop
Hi.I recently had to reinstall Photoshop CS2 onto my Mac Laptop 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, running system 10.4.11, which required a new hard drive after the old one died. I am immediatly encountering a serious redraw/image repositioning problem in Photoshop that I have never seen before, and in Imageready as well. This does not happen in Macromedia Fireworks 8 however.
I am zoomed into an image. Using the hand tool, or the scroll bars or the arrows, as soon as I move an image little messed up line graphic glitches appear and stay in place for the remainder or working with an image, and ultimately covers the image completely after moving around within it a number of times. you can see examples of this in these screenshots I've uploaded:
http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage04.gif
http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage03.gif
http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage02.gif
and the lines stay the same size and position even when zooming in. here's the same image w/ the same defects zoomed out and in:
http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01.gif
http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01_zoomed.gif
I've tried trashing & re-installing photoshop completely, tried running it before the updates needed from the original Photoshop application disk, and after. still the same problem.
This occurs only when using the laptop on its own. When I hook it up to my Apple Studio Cinema Display, it works fine. The problem does not occur on the Cinema Display OR the laptop screen! it's very odd. Basically, the laptop is now something I cannot actually use away from my desk until this is resolved.
Has anyone ever encountered this or possibly have any suggestions or advice? Thanks so much!

Another thing I noticed about the problem I'm facing is that it leaves defects from mouse trails as well in the image window. None of the defects are lasting nor will they print. I close the file and they go away, if I zoom, they stay the same size. I'd agree, it sounds like a video card problem, but the reason I posted here is that only in photoshop and imageready do these problems occur. My guess, if it's the video card is that they are just programs that require more of the system. why my video card would be crapping out now, I have no idea. but I guess that's how it goes.
But why would it work fine when hooked up to the apple cinema display? even on the laptop screen itself the problem is not present. only when the laptop is on its own.
The computer has served me very well for almost 3 years without this problem, so that's why it's something that is not a normal problem that should be expected from this computer. I am grateful to have it & can't afford a new one.. this one is still sitting on my credit card balance. Thankfully I am under the applecare protection plan and will bring it in to the local Mac shop on monday and demonstrate the issue to them.
Thanks for your replies. -
Sound changes when moving mp3 from quicktime to itunes
When I move a mp3 from quicktime to itunes the sound changes. itunes makes it sound a little worse from the original mix. I dont think its the equalizer becuase i tried fooling around with that and tuning it off for a better result.
So the mp3 sounds perfect in quicktime but terrible in itunes whats my problem?I figured out that if i bring it into itunes as mp4 instead of mp3 it sounds alright.
So you are not moving the MP3 from QT to iTunes as you wrote in your first post. You are converting from AAC to MP3.
i tried to burn it and i think it automatically converts it back to mp3 for the burn
No.
If you have audio CD selected in iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning, it will convert them to an audio CD.
It willnot convert any other time unless you tell it to convert.
is there a way to burn it while maintaining the mp4 quality??
Select Audio CD or Data CD and it will burn an audio file or the MP4 file. -
InDesign CC (CS7) Scrolling and moving around so slow and choppy!!
Adobe - please send out an update for CC!! Me and IT dept checked my Mac system requirements and all is fine there. Moving around on my pages (e.g. hand tool) and scrolling is so choppy, slow, and lags. And sometimes my art disappears and I'm looking at blank pages until I stop or let refresh for a bit.
I also noticed that when I'm in "preview mode," CPUs go down and much less choppy and smoother moving around, but I can't work in preview mode. (e.g. I need hidden characters on for Indexing markers, and my frames and guides on).
CS6 works MUCH smoother, but I can't save client files down if that's how they provide them to me. Please recommend any other suggestions or hopefully an update will help this issue.I also hop on the issue to give it some more attention.
InDesign scolling lags badly, Tools are slow, Program crashes. Equal problems using Illustrator/Photoshop.
My Mac is not the newest – but CS6 was running like a charm before.
Some TechSpecs:
OSX Mavericks (Clean Install)
Core2Duo 2.4 GhZ
8GB 1067MhZ DDR3 RAM
OCZ Vertex SSD 256GB
Currently using the Test-Period of CC on this machine to figure out how it works – but that should not be a problem as the Programs are the same. As a student I would prefer the current discount offer (the normal rate is al little too much for me right now). Please fix this problem, otherwise I can't buy it the next year. Btw. Subscription method is great compared to the old payment method. -
Ghosting from top and bottom of the workspace edges when moving around workspace?
When I move around the workspace dark grey slightly transparent bars appear to be ghosting from the top and bottom of the workspace. If I move so they go off screen they disappear but more are made as I move around. Tried restarting Illustrator and my laptop, I have the newest version of Illustrator CC.
*Update - It appears to only happen in my one file, when an image I'm drawing over is put on a lower opacity. If I have it opaque there's no weird line ghosting, but as soon as I make it more transparent the lines start appearing. All I am doing is the following:
import my mov file that is 1024 x 820
create a sequence that is 1024 x 768
export the sequence
I made a video showing the steps (very boring, sorry).
I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing. i'm 99% sure my result is wrong from the looks of it in the movie player.

Thunderbird hangs when moving messages to sent and other folders
Now and then (sometimes once a week - sometimes multiple times per day) Thunderbird looses the ability to move messages to folders. Typical symptoms are:
Send a message - message sends fine - then it hangs forever with the dialog box saying that it is copying the message to the sent folder. (I have allowed this to sit for hours - it never completes.)
If I cancel copying it to Sent, it wants to copy to Drafts - but it hangs doing that too.
Filters that move messages don't work.
The mail archiving feature doesn't work. (no error message no hang - simply does nothing.)
Junk controls mark messages as junk but don't move the messages to the junk folder.
All of the above can be remedied by simply shutting down Thunderbird and restarting it. Then it will be fine for anywhere from 5 hours to 20 days before this occurs again.
I am using a pop account with local folders. All of these moves are local to my PC. I have only been using Thunderbird for a few months so all of my folders have small numbers of messages. My drafts folder typically has zero messages (and the file is zero bytes) and it still can't copy to it.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit - installed about 3 months ago, Thunderbird 24.6.0. (The problem occurred with the previous version of Thunderbird as well.) Lots of available disk space.
Some non-default settings: Thunderbird is set to use a global inbox (local folders) and the local folders have been relocated from the default location to my user directory on drive D: TB is set to not check for email automatically or on startup. There are two accounts.
I'm using the enigmail, quicktext and allow-html-temp extensions. Though I have typically not used any of these around the time that it starts hanging. Since it can take weeks to appear, it's difficult to run safe mode or extension-less for such long periods.No.
I recently had a period of about a month without it. And another time it was once a day for 3 days. (People in other threads have said it happens to them multiple times per day.) Right before the long period without the problem I had an enigmail update and I thought that that might have cured it since it worked for so long, but then it came back.
I was going to try the 31x series but early comments about it made me put that off. I'm still on 24.6. I browse the release notes now and then and see no mention of fixes for this and I've read a few other threads on the problem but haven't yet seen anyone claim that he found a fix that worked for a significant amount of time.
By the way, my first indication that this had occurred again was that I checked for email and all my spams stayed in my inbox. So I restarted TB, ran the junk controls, and they all moved to the junk folder. There is no consistency on which folder is being accessed when the problem is first seen. And there is never any need to rebuild anything to get it working again. TB just occasionally looses the ability to move messages in general. Once it happens, you can't move any message anywhere. Until you restart TB and the all is fine again. Until next time. All of this in on POP so this is just moving data around local files. -
Music sounds static when played through headphones or speakers
i have had my ipod for a while now and it worked fine. However whenever i play through headphones or speakers the music goes to what sounds like static, i would like to know how to fix this problem and if i cant how much will it cost to have apple fix it for me.
Update - I've isolated this (I think) to be something that happens when Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 is open. Exiting the app stops the noise.
But still con't find out why it happens or any setting to stop it.
cheers -

Sound loss when moving Final Cut Pro X project to Quicktime.
This is a 33 minute football highlight film with music, live sound, radio calls, title screens and transitions. The video is HD and transfers flawlessly, but the sound stops after 90 secomds amd never returns. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Have made 35 player highlight videos without an issue, but they are about 10-12 minutes long each. So, I cut the video to 20 minites to trial a shorter version, and the sound cuts out at the same spot.
The video pkays back perfectly in Final Cut Pro X. Sent it to compressor directly, and aftr 17 hours, I got a "fail" message.
Can someone help me? This video is scheduled to be shown at a banquet on Friday night, and I can't show it if I can't get it to a bluray disc
ThanksLast week I lost my audio shortly into the video.
It disappeared around the point of the first transition.
After deleting that transition and re-exporting the audio survived to what had been the second transition and so on.
After deleting all the transitions the audio was perfect.
I then put back the transitions and magically the video exported with no audio loss.
At the time someone else seemed to have the same problem so it may be some bug or glitch.
My solution was to delete all transitions and replace. -
My speakers sound static when i listen to videos online
I can listen to my itunes with no static but when advertisement come on on any website or i try to watch or listen to stuff online, a loud static noise comes on and i have no idea why. It all started yesterday night on my macbook pro.
it is a possibility that you broke something inside the cord try other places where you can use your headphones and see if that works. if it doesnt its most likely broken

Choppy/jagged movement when moving around on a zoomed-in image?
Brand new MacBook Pro - Non-Retina - OSX 10.8.2 / 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 750GB HD (currently 522GB free space) / CS6 Extended Version 13.0.1. x64
I just got a new MacBook Pro this past week and immediately discovered that whenever I would try to move around on a zoomed-in image (using two-finger scrolling on my trackpad, as I've done for years), it would be very choppy/jagged/sort of jumping pixels. I've changed everything in Photoshop--Preferences--Performance multiple times (including the graphics processor settings, memory usage, history & cache), as well as all of my scrolling and trackpad settings, and have also tried with and without automatic graphics switching. I have this issue in both CS6 (downloaded directly from adobe.com last night, extra updates done immediately), and CS5. I tried CS4 and there was no issue...but I didn't get a brand new computer to use an old version of Photoshop. Went into the Apple store today to see if they've seen this issue before, but the person I spoke to had not (and knew nothing about Photoshop...not that I expected him to). I have a few friends who have this same problem - some just deal with it (or don't use Photoshop enough for it to be a bother), some have gotten their computers replaced (but with no actual answers). Apple wasn't convinced that this was a hardware issue in my case, but did offer to replace the computer (however it will take a couple weeks, as it's a custom order). I've spent countless hours searching these Adobe forums (and the rest of the internet) for insight.
I did a screen recording showing what is happening as I move around on an image - http://youtu.be/yyRBUiDjavM
This happens on ALL images, regardless of file type and size (the image shown in this video is just a jpg with no extra layers - working on RAW files with multiple layers produces the same result, no worse). And once again, I have changed everything in the Performance Preferences in PS (including the graphics processor settings, memory usage, history & cache), as well as all of my scrolling and trackpad settings, and have also tried with and without automatic graphics switching in my energy saver preferences...all multiple times, all with closing/reopening PS, all with restarting my computer afterwards. Have I missed something, or do you guys think it is more than likely a hardware (RAM, graphics card, etc) problem?
Here is my (current) system info - again, I've changed the PS performance preferences multiple times -

And if I wanted to use a normal mouse (or a tablet), I would've gotten an iMac instead of a MacBook Pro. I travel often and work all over the place, not always with access to a decently sized workspace that would be required for using a mouse or tablet.

Sound Vanishes When Moving Clip From Clips Pane To Video Selection Timeline
Hi,
I've been using iMovie for years and never run into a problem, but just today I imported some video, played it back fine in the clips pane, then dragged them down into the main video timeline, and all of a sudden there's no sound on them. The video plays fine, but no audio at all.
Anyone know what happened? I can't figure it out.
Thanks!is it this?
