Sound stops when browsing Bookmarks or other screen messages

Since I installed the latest version of Safari the sound on my iMac stops whenever I browse through the Bookmark Bar or any other message dialogue box. I'm fairly sure it did not do this before and feels like its stopped multi-tasking?

There may be some connection between using aMSN and loosing sound. The above problem mainly occurs if the user is logged into aMSN although this may be just coincidence.
Anyone got any ideas?

Yes there have been a number of reports posted about this, it seems different people experience different results here with some finding the same as you, some finding that it won't work at all with the TV turned off and some finding that if music is sent from iTunes on the mac/pc that as long as the TV is on when the stream starts, the TV can be turned off afterwards.
My assumption here is that it depends on the TV itself, although that probably doesn't help all that much.

Chrome has its own Flash Player plugin called "PepperFlash". It functions independently of the ActiveX plugin for IE. ActiveX causes more problems for IE than it will ever solve... and for that reason, I don't use Microsoft's pathetic excuse for a browser. It's pure garbage.
I recommend using any other browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

HP Pavilion dm4-2070us Sound stop when put the headphone jack

Hi
When I remove or put the headphones jack, the sound stops to work in the speakers and in the headphones. To turn it back, I have to close the player(music, video or sound streamer from the web site) and start it again, but if the headphones is pluged in it works very well, if I remove the jack stop again, it happens in reverse case.
Could you please tell me the solution for this problem?

I had the same problem with dm4-2070us and I just finished chatting with HP customer service. The representative asked me to do few things including setting the BIOS to default. I also reinstalled the driver. NOTHING WROKED.
He told me to do a complete revovery of the system to factory reset. I didn't want to go that route.
What I did is downloaded the older driver for dm4-1162us and installed on my dm4-2070 and it fixed the problem. Now the only thing I'm missing is the Dolby sound, about which I don't care that much.

Conclusion: It's a software problem. May HP come uo with a new driver to fix it, SOON.

Dialog hidden automatically when browser is in full screen mode

Hello all,
I have an applet which shows a modal dialog automatically. It works fine when the applet is shown in the IE browser in normal mode. The window disappears automatically within few seconds when the browser is in Full Screen Mode.
Does any one has faced this peculiar problem ?
I am using Internet Explorer version 6.0

Sure, a quick reply: create a multi audio track song in Logic using markers. Bounce this to AIFF files - one for each instrument say.
Using the MS multi track mixer template, drag the bounced files into playback instances and set the synch option to "wait for marker"
Start MS playback then use the jump back/forth between markers buttons to do that. MS should continue playing untill it reaches the end of the section, then jump. It does but the results are unpredictable. Mostly I get white noise. This used to work under 2.1

Edge Animate uses requestAnimationFrame API for animations.
When focus is out of a tab there is no repaint and requestANimationFrame does not call a function to update animation.Thus you see the pause in animations.
Not sure if there is any way to over come this.

Well that is interesting. Amoung other things safe boot does:
-- check and fixes up your file system. The files system allows you to keep files on your harddrive.
-- Does all video rendering in software.
You could have a one time glitch or harddrive is slowly failing. If you never replaced the harddrive, it is time for a new one.
You may want to consider getting a new harddrive. The easiest way is to get an external drive. No disassembly of the machine is required.
You need an external Firewire drive to boot a PowerPC Mac computer [ a few G5's will boot from USB ].
I recommend you do a google search on any external harddrive you are looking at.
I bought a low cost external drive enclosure. When I started having trouble with it, I did a google search and found a lot of complaints about the drive enclosure. I ended up buying a new drive enclosure. On my second go around, I decided to buy a drive enclosure with a good history of working with Macs. The chip set seems to be the key ingredient. I am doing a Director movie that calls a MIAW.
How can I do to the sound do not stop when the MIAW
show?

Do you want the sound to stop when a MIAW is opened, or keep
playing?
Sound in the stage should actually keep playing on its own if
a MIAW is opened, therefore I am going to assume you want the sound
to stop playing (or at least mute)
Check out the help on whether or not the soundchannel is
busy. Use that type of script in the MIAW so it stops the sound if
running. Or you can similarly use the script in the stage to
monitor for MIAW's and pause or stop when one is detected.

As always seems to happen, the next thing you try ends up working. Well almost. I
Deleted the contact and sent a message from that phone to mine -- problem persisted
Deleted the person from my FAVORITES in the phone app (the entry still existed even though the contact had been deleted). This worked!!!
It's kind of weird that the favorites in the phone app were somehow affecting notifications in Messages for a contact that had been deleted, but there you are.

Pavilion d6 with Beats Audio and Windows 7: the Sound Stops When Headphones are Removed

The sound works fine, then I put in headphones and usually the sound plays fine, though sometimes it stops working after making a repeating sound for a second. When I remove the headphones the sound will not come out of the speakers and if I plus the headphones back in no sound comes out. The only way I can get the sound to work again is to restart my computer.

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When done, shut down the notebook by holding down the left Shift key as you click on Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.
Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 20 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers/HP' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Sound stops when set flash obj visibility to false on IE

How can I prevent sound from stopping on IE when I set a
flash <object> visibility to false, through javascript ?
i.e.: document.getElementById('flashObj').style.visibility =
'false';
All other web browsers behave normally (they just hide the
player, sound, as the movie, is keep playing on...).

To have separate volume levels you have to attach the sound
objects to different movieclips like this..
_root.my_sound = new Sound(one_mc);
The movieclip can be just an empty clip that you make with
createEmptyMovieClip.
