Sound Studio Sound or iMovie

Believe or not, I make iMovie movies everyday as it's my business. I have several sound files I use regularly without a problem. However, I'm trying to add a new sound file created by Sound Studio but iMovie does not accept it. I have saved & exported the file as .wav, mpeg4, AIFF. I have used save/export functions of Sound Studio. I've also used Quicktime Pro to export the sound file but to no avail. It's a head scratcher.
Please help if you can. Thanks

Aiff should work. Mp3 and aac work fine from iTunes, but for sound files I have created myself, aiff is the most reliable way I have found.
Will your aiff play in Preview? In Quicktime Player? Will it open in Garage band?
I have only done this from Garageband, and aiff works reliably from there.
I usually keep sound files in iTunes but this is so I have a stable path to the file. It is perfectly alright to drag in a sound file from the finder.
Sorry I hAve no experience with soundstudio

  • Sound Studio

I have recently tried to open sound studio but always crashes, I have used the programme in the past successfully. Any advice please??

First thing to try is to find the preference file for Sound Studio and chuck it into the trash and then try it again. If still a no go...
My standard list of things to do first for these weird sort of problems. There are several alternate programs that do the same things with some combining the functions of some of the ones below. So everyone has their favorites, but here are mine...
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system, especially any external drives that you use for iMovie and iDVD projects.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Reboot your Mac (after running Cache Out X you are given the option to restart the machine).

  • Logic bounces won't open in Sound Studio

Properly speaking, this is a Sound Studio (2.0.7) problem, but as I've used it for many months (and would like to continue) for minor tweaking of bounced Logic AIFs, I'm hoping someone will have some idea as to what's going on here.
Since I got my G4 iBook back with a new 100GB HD, 7200 rpm, Sound Studio now crashes when trying to open Logic's AIF bounces. The Logic AIFs open fine and play in iTunes, QuickTime, and RealPlayer, no problem, which also rules out problems with my system audio prefs -- doesn't it?
SS will open and play other AIFs that it always has, BUT even while I see its SPL tracking the waveform, I get no audible playback (via iBook internal audio/headphones)!
At a loss for anything else, I've repaired permissions and rebooted, several times. I've chanted, burned incense, fine-tuned my feng shui. No improvement.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
iBook G4, iMac Intel Duo Core, Logic Pro 7.2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

First, make sure your audio file matches the sampling
rate and bit depth that Sound Studio requires.
Haven't found any documentation yet of what they require. Thing is, it all worked fine before. I did trash the two SS .plists and reboot — no help.
If that's not the problem then try opening your .aiff
in QT and exporting it as a new file... see if SS
    will accept that.
Very helpful. Having tried QT's "Save As" and finding only .mov options, I'd overlooked the EXPORT command, which did offer Sound as AIFF. That worked, partly — it yielded an inexplicably overamplified AIFF — significantly distorted, even to my amateur ears. And I still want to get back to the one-step direct route. But this is progress. I'll keep working with this. Thanks much!

  • Can no longer play or import Sound Studio files into iTunes

I recently updated my iTunes and now I cannot import music files that I created in my Sound Studio program (AIFFs, WAVs, MPEGs, whatever). And none of the Sound Studio files I imported into iTunes previously will play. What's up??? Is there a way to "un-update" iTunes and go back to the previous version?

Nevermind, I just did some more searching on the boards and found this topic from someone who had the exact same problem.

I stopped TruDirect and everything started working again.
    Sorry for the unnecessary post.

  • Anyone familiar with Freeverse's Sound Studio application used with iTunes?

I have been using Freeverse Software's Sound Studio application for the last year, which allows me to record workshops I lead, in AAC format, and I've always been able to drag the files into iTunes and play or burn them. Since upgrading to Leopard (and upgrading their software to the newest Leopard-compatible version), when I try to drag a file into iTunes, it won't copy into the library. Freeverse says it isn't a problem with the software.
Anyone know why I might not be able to put an AAC file, recorded onto my MacBook Pro, into iTunes....and a workaround?
    Thanks

Check to be sure that the file suffix is correct ie: .m4a, .mp3 etc.
Can you 'add' to iTunes using the File menu?

  • Is it "OK" to have a single .xml file that's identified by a specific app (Sound Studio)?

Since I'm have trouble in getting "Amazon's Cloud" to see my music files in iTunes, I'm wondering if the peculiarity I'm noticing with the .xml file in my iTunes folder is causing a problem.  I have only one such file and alongside it is the green icon for my Sound Studio recording/editing app/program.  When I trash the .xml file, it's replaced by the same green icon upon reopening iTunes, even though Sound Studio remains closed.
I'm wondering if Sound Studio might be prioritizing all other uses of iTunes.  When I click on the .xml file, moreover, I'm told that Sound Studio cannot open files in the "Tab-delimited Text" format?

No, your answer is miles off. Our process needs to access the OVD LDAP in the normal way (its used for other things). The solution has to be within the borders outlined within my question. I want to add a "filter" java class  somewhere (either in OBIEE, Weblogic or on the LDAP server) that converts my servlets encrypted passwords into plain text BEFORE the LDAP directory is read so that my OBIEE users can logon to OBIEE via my servlet.
As an alternative is there some way I can convert my  Java servlet into a JAAS thingy that OBIEE will accept as a SSO source? Is that a possibility?
    .....What about this......
    1) I unpack the analytics.ear file
    2) I add a servlet (jsp) in the root location that decrypts the NQPassword into plain text.
    3) This servlet  then FORWARDs (not REDIRECTs) to  saw.dll  passing the NQUser and NQPassword in plain text (I think forward is OK as it all stays on the server, the plain text password is not passed back to the client).
Would this work as a solution to my problem?

  • Mp4 files open in Sound Studio instead of Quicktime

When clicking on an mp4 file, they are opening in Sound Studio instead of Quicktime. However, when I open Quicktime and THEN open the mp4 file, it opens normally.
I went to disk utilities and verified permissions thinking that might fix the problem. Nope.
    Anyone had this issue before?

Select a .mp4 file, choose File -> Get Info and change the Open With popup to Quicktime. Then click Change All.

  • Feedback howling – can I get rid of this using Sound Studio 2.2.4?

I am making a short extract from the recording of a talk, using Sound Studio 2.2.4. I have managed to cut out the sounds of coughing and most of the other unwanted noises by working my way through the filters and trying out the ones that look promising, but I haven't been able to do anything about the feedback howling that can be heard in one particular section. Is it possible to get rid of this noise and retain the speech?
    Thank you.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

@dzfam02, I've had this same exact problem.  In my situation I wasn't using "Jam", I was using a different wireless mic, but everything you describe was the same for me.
Because I have an extensive history in the "old-school" systems (i.e. analog), as soon as I heard the hum I knew what it was.  It's almost always a cable of some kind allowing RF noise, or some other form of noise, into your system.  Usually, all you have to do is move around your cables, power bricks, lamp cords, or ANY other cable that has current running through it.  For me, it was a simple move of one cable just 6 inches to solve the problem. I have seen it take some rather drastic rearrangements to eliminate the hum.  Consider moving you computer around as well.  I have always found it strange that the introduction of a new piece of equipment can cause a situation where a seemingly non-related cable and/or equipment must be moved to eliminate the hum that was a result of the new equipment being brought in.
    Things to live by:
ALWAYS use high quality shielded cables.  NEVER lay too many cables too close together.  NEVER use gender changers to connect 2 shorter cables to make a longer one as the connection ALWAYS leaks signal AND allows offending signals (hum?) to be introduced.  Instead, use 1 continuous cable.
    Hope this helps...

  • Trying to record through soundboard in Sound Studio?

    Hi all-
I have been trying to record an audio clip into Sound Studio 2.2.4. The default is for the MacBook Pro to play the clip through the speakers and for Sound Studio to record through the microphone, in which case I can get good levels but the recording is echo-ey and bad. When I switch to the only other source option, Built-in Input, I get no signal or levels in Sound Studio at all.
Am I doing something foolish? Does SS not have this capacity? Or do Macs not use the soundboard the way a PC does? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Matthew

I have a very similar problem on my iMac. I've tried 3 sound programs and none of them can record internally, without having to resort to speakers out mic in. Each program has an option for internally recording but the problem appears to be my own sound preferences as they just list the mic, the line in and a blue tooth device called LAVINIA that I know nothing about!

  • Mono Sound after opening an iMovie HD-Project in FC Express HD

I captured HD-Material in iMovie. There it works in stereo. Now i just got mono sound after opening my iMovie HD-Project in FC Express HD. If i play the timeline, the sound of my HD-Clips is mono, all track-settings seamed to be on default mode. If i click one of the clips in the browser-window, i can see and hear the clip in the viewer in stereo. So the clip-material must be okay. Rendering the movie clips and audio clips in the timeline doesn't work. Connecting the clips with the original bin, doesn't work too.
I need help! Could you help me?
    PowerPC G5, Dual 1.8 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

That's not right. Stereo here means the same sound split between two channels. When you open it into the viewer you see two audio waveforms in one display. They can be different, but they don't have to be. Dual mono means you have two separate tracks with different sound coming out of each speaker. In dual mono you have two separate tabs, one for each track, each of which can be controlled separately and have separate audio. That's the default capture condition for FCE. If you have separate tracks of audio in iMovie, two mono tracks attached to the video, they may not be preserved when they come into FCE. Do your clips have two separate, mono tracks of audio in iMovie? What happens to the clip when you open it from the browser into the viewer? Is it two mono tracks, or a stereo pair?

  • !! Sound Studio / AIFF / FCP : Poorly rendered files in timelilne

I will try to describe my problem the best I can...
-Imported AIFF audio files into FCP (these files were generated in Sound Studio).
When I drag these files into the viewer, they sound fine.
-Pulled these audio files into my time line.
    -Rendered them.
-The rendered audio files are barely audible. When I open the rendered audio clips from my time line in the viewer, they still sound awful whereas the unrendered files, which are still in my browser, sound OK.
Any idea why this would be happening?
Thanks for your help and please let me know if you need more details.

    Panasonic PVGS200 Camera
Quick Time 7.2.0 (player version 7.2)

Here's the info on the particular audio clip that's troubling me:
    -Audio rate: 44.1 KHz
    -Audio format: 16 bit integer
    -Data rate: 172.3 k/s
What's strange is that I have music files with the same audio rate (44.1) that render and play normally. Only the audio format is different:
    -Audio rate: 44.1 KHz
-Audio format: 32 bit floating point
    -Data rate: 45.8 k/sec
Any idea how I can "convert" the troublesome audio clip? When you say " they will need to be rendered" I assume you are referring to a different type of rendering and not FCP's typical rendering (Sequence/Render/Render all)?
Thanks for your help so far. I really do appreciate it.

  • GB vs Sound Studio 3 for Voice over

I had some experience with Sound Forge on the PC side. I need a flexible editor for professional voice over recording and editing...giving me ability to record, edit from multiple takes on a single track, listen closely (and possibly loop small chunks of audio), edit words closely, take out breaths, etc. Anyone with some experience in these matters steer me to Garageband or Sound Studio 3 as rtgew best choice?. I do not seem to have as much control over the placement and control of the cursor with GB.... I seem to be chasing it all over the waveform. But then again, maybe its my own techno-moronity. Please help me, my-smarter-than-I-am-on-these-things friends!

    Your help is gushingly appreciated.
You're quite welcome, always happy help out a fellow NEer
I have not used version 5 of Peak, but I've been using older versions for, hmmm, maybe 5 years. I'm not particularly fond of Bias software's tech support, however the software is really good, and I've put many hours into it and achieved great results.
Still, don't over look the free options. Lots of people like Audacity, and since it's free, I'd suggest trying it. Then if you don't find it works for you, try something else.

  • Any known GB conflicts with "Sound Studio" 3  ?

I have ordered a new iMac desktop with latest OSX 10.8.x and iLife suite.
I currently use Sound Studio 2.2.4 on this PPC, and plan to buy latest SS 4.x for the new desktop.
I've never played with GarageBand yet.
Are there any known conflicts having GarageBand and Sound Studio on the same platform?
    Thank you in advance.

What conclicts are you thinking of? Sound Studio produces audio files that you can import into GB as long as they are in a supported format. That's independent of the OS. I am using both programs and am happy with it.

  • ACER e700 DTS Studio Sound issue

Hi e700 users,  i'm using e700 for almost a year now, and tried every possible tweaks to improve this 3 sim phone especially its audio. could somebody confirmed that DTS Studio Sound is not working properly after playing some mp4 or flash files? i thought this was caused of installed diff sound enhancement apps, but even after hard reset or flashing back to stock roms...DTS studio is not functioning properly. you can try it when you open the weather widget w/c will enable DTS sound. you will no longer hear changes when you adjust bass, treble andd EQ and the sound becomes awful.   im not sure if this issue is from my phone only, but hope somebody can provide me a solution for this.   thanks!

I i'm still searching on how to fix this n my phone and I guess only few user experiences this. but for now i have no choice but to turn off completely the DTS Studio Sound and rely on DOLBY ATMOS and Maxxaudio to enhance the video and music listening via ear/headphone.   I'm just wishing  that somebody from ACER will look into this and and hoping this issue will not occur in their  next triple sim phone (Liquid x2) if they will include DTS.
